  • This is a Tea light, i called the light lantern. I made from Sycamore & Sapele wood. I got this idea form the pot that Carl Jacobson made and thought this would be a great little tea light.

    I have watched probably 200 of your videos. I'm married with 3 sons & don't do wood working....lol
    but ! I am an artist & your work relaxes me & amazes me how beautiful each peace turns out. Also I absolutely love how detailed you explain things!! Makes it so enjoyable to watch for me, as a person who doesn't know Bout wood working. I di now because of that know a little about it. I watch your videos in the evening when I'm winding down to bed time. Trying to relax. Great work! You are such a talented man. Not only in wood working but in UA-cam as well! 🙏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽

    I know that this is a really old video and I am fairly certain that you will not see this comment, but having said that I have enjoyed going back and seeing your older videos. The Dremel is such a great tool. I have one myself. It has so many functions: engraving, cleaning, scrubbing, sanding... so I I think every wood turner should have one. Especially when cracks or other small places need to be cleaned out or replaced. Gives so much more and easy possibilities. This video also shows me how much you have developed. You get better with every project. You have come a long way. Thx for this.

    Nice Tea Light, NickIf you turn the tube thinner and drill bigger holes the light will show better!A SERIOUS Safety Note, NEVER use the burning wire by just holding the wire in your hands, attach two pieces of dowel to the ends of the wire for handles... If the wire catches while burning, and it will, you could loose a finger!Peter F.

    I enjoy seeing your woodworking and I noticed a habit you did that you should change, when drilling out any turning with a Jacobs chuck ALWAYS have your hand on the drill chuck. The Morse taper can slip and let go and you can easily tell by the weight of the drill chuck and the drill that it is not something to have flying around towards you. Refer to Keith Barrow, a UK wood turner and you can see exactly what I am talking about. Turn safe!

    • @marycolville2755
      @marycolville2755 5 років тому

      I'm a metal turner, and have noticed wood turners holding the chuck whilst drilling. If the tapers are in good condition, and installed correctly they shouldn't release, except when drifted out. Is the problem when withdrawing the drill, with the wood contracting?
      I have never held the chuck. If the taper can't hold it how can your hand stop it turning? If it does start turning it certainly wouldn't fly across the room as the chuck arbor would still be inside the tailstock quill, and the drill is in the hole. I know this post is 2 years old but somebody tell me I'm wrong. I'd rather see the chuck turning than watching my hand turning with the chuck........
      If your still here Nick. Nice idea. Partner really into smelly candles, might just turn one off myself. Thank you. Has to be a quicker way of drilling all those holes though.

    Being a regular viewer and not a turner neither Ike nor Tina, I dectect a major change in your demeanor. Anything wrong?

      This is one of his earlier works. If you watch the dates, you will see a huge transformation. I don’t know him personally so I can’t speak for his personality in person. However, you can see Nick get comfortable with the lights, camera, action. Also his skills and imagination grow rapidly as well. My mere opinion.
