Once again Matt..such superb craftsmanship. That is so beautiful..!!! I love the symmetry of the lamp. I also love the natural look Matt. My compliments to the creator..!!!
Every moment of shaping and sculpting feels like true poetry of creation. My favourite part is often sanding and polishing, the way the natural patterns reveal themselves. I liked the absence of epoxy.
Wonderful. On a future video, would you be willing to add a little notification of when you pause for sharpening? I am curious how often sharpening is necessary on things like this.
When you are turning, if you notice the tool is not doing as well as it was, when you started, sharpen it. That is one thing that I have always done when in doubt, sharpen it.
Hi Matt the Sycamore wood is lovely it's got nice grain and I like the imperfections in it they are great, I like the spalting in it as well. You really are a clever and superb woodturner and craftsman. The design of this lamp is really unique and magnificent well done. Matt I love the natural finish of this Superb, beautiful and unique lamp. I love your videos I watch them all can't wait for your next video you certainly are a masterwoodturner. Amanda xx
When you first hefted the log onto the lathe I was reminded of the old cartoon where they whittled a tree into a toothpick 😂. Very nice job on the piece, IMHO 👌👏👍
Honestly thought you were going thinner on the shade but after I noticed the hole I understand at least I think why you didn’t. Very nice piece. Always liked hand made lamps. Such character👍🏻🔥
Thanks for sharing. Awesome workmanship. Just one suggestion. I can't make out if the lamp you have used is LED based, because if you're using an LED lamp, then you could incorporate a small lithium battery and charger inside that base globe, so that the light will remain on during a power failure.
Nice wood pattern, great idea..but I kind of agree with other guy, blocky looking. Maybe do something hand carving a pattern around body of shade, let more light out?
Love your work Matt ... you sure have a creative mind. Your videos are outstanding and your products are beyond professional!! A general question...when you have a really big log like this one, do you start with a slower RPM, and then speed up as the diameter of the wood gets smaller? Thanks sharing your work with us!
Thanks, always start slow and work the speed up as it balances out. As a guide I turn the speed up till I see the lathe start to wobble, then back it off a bit
It's a hollowing tool, the wires are going to a camera that is mounted above, there is a dot on the screen that shows me where the tool is inside the piece I'm turning
The only thing that would have made this more beautiful, would have been if there were more natural inclusions/voids so you could have done one of your fantastic epoxy pours. That way when the power is on you get the beautiful glow from the epoxy. Still a beautiful piece.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely dangerous beacause of lamp😂😂😂

Wonderful. On a future video, would you be willing to add a little notification of when you pause for sharpening? I am curious how often sharpening is necessary on things like this.
Only about twice on this, Sycamore is relatively easy to turn 👍
When you are turning, if you notice the tool is not doing as well as it was, when you started, sharpen it. That is one thing that I have always done when in doubt, sharpen it.

Honestly thought you were going thinner on the shade but after I noticed the hole I understand at least I think why you didn’t. Very nice piece. Always liked hand made lamps. Such character👍🏻🔥
Thanks, I was thinking about adding some clear epoxy to allow me to go thinner, but decided against it to leave it all natural
Absolutely beautiful design 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the bottom of the lamp, the ball, but not the “lampshade”. But your work is exceptional.
Brilliant video.
Many thanks!
Nádherná práce 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
They look nice and you got 1.31 million subscribers🥰
Did i look nice Yes 🥰 No 😭
Outstanding!
Thank you kindly!
Very cool process. I was left a little wanting more by the end piece but maybe I'd be more moved in person.

Great turning, but that's a pretty large trunk for a small prong drive, gulp..
What is that boring bar at 3:15 with the wires coming out of it?
It's a hollowing tool, the wires are going to a camera that is mounted above, there is a dot on the screen that shows me where the tool is inside the piece I'm turning
Amazing and Self-taught
You don't need to use safety protection for your arms or hands?
Thanks, and not required on a wood lathe
Nice piece!
While I'm here, thank you for letting your work do the talking, rather than constantly interrupting and yammering away.
Thank you very much!
Wow!
Great craftsmanship but just my opinion bulky and unattractive lamp. Not my cup of tea but the craftsmanship is beautiful.
Cool
0:10 Face reveal
Yea that doesn't happen often.
It's all about the wood 👍
👍👍👍
I thought the light would be in the round sphere.
👏👏👏👌👍
Look like gaint bowling ball and it's mr happy got smile on big ball
Woodturning - bucket with handle
Not a fan?
What do you mean?
@@Nintendo3D5 I've taken your comment as a description of what I've made?
Why didn't you use resin ?
Sometimes I like to leave it natural
Немного тяжеловесно. Может поставить на маленькие ножки?)))))
