  • Here's another pencil bowl project. This is a slightly larger bowl using Ash on the bottom and Spalted Beech on the top with pencils in the middle. I had fun making this one....

Nick, beautiful bowl and also the best of the 60s music Aretha with a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T in the background! My teens years were during that time and my kids were always scared to death that this song would come on the radio when they had a friend in the car with them because I would start doing my sitting dance to it!

I decided to go all the way to the beginning and watch from there. I gotta say, you under went a huge transformation in your videos Nick. I also have to say (even though I am no expert at all) you must have heard a choir of angels singing when you discovered that resin stuff! 😂

Next time you make a pencil bowl, try using the food safe epoxy to completely seal the pencils,so Charley, your son can have a school theme breakfast bowl for his ceral!!!!

You could put the pencil shavings in some resin and make a blank out of it. I think that would be cool!

You make a lot of nice resin pieces with all kinds of cool stuff. My son and I turn but not as well as you, yet. I've got an idea that maybe you could do with resin and the inside of the neon highlighter markers. Take the middle of the market out that holds the ink. Next shred it and put it in resin.

  • @morgancalvi6675

Wow, you can see the care and effort put forth here. Actually, if it were me, I'd fill all those pencil gaps with glue/wood shavings and put a coat of epoxy over them. Wow, hope you saved those pencil shavings (the coloured, centre ones from the hollowing)...what a neat project that would be. Gorgeous...but that spray at the end...respirator or not...particles of it are all through out your shed....I'd spray that on a rag and wipe it on. You have a family to think of.

What if u had put the pencils in a sunburst pattern, then sandwiched them in between the wood pieces, that way u would only get the coloured ends visible. Just an idea. Just found ur channel, so far, really liking ur videos, Nick!

Nick, as much as I loved your choice of music stations , I had heard on a different UA-cam channel that if you're playing music that you're infringing on that other person's rights and so UA-cam will demonetized this particular video . I hope not I'd like to see you be very profitable in what you're doing because we enjoy it so much . Something to look into .

Why not take this stack up and pour resin and make a full cylinder otherwise the bowl size reduces to the size of the pencils! Just a thought.

Yes it's quite funny going from Funkkky!! Nick to "Slightly Depressed yet still Optimistic" Nick. I wondered if your bowl-saver cutter would work on a pencil inlaid bowl so you could get a set of graduated size bowls out of 1 blank...or would the pencils just blow out all over the place??

    Hello
I do not speak English, it is machine translation, I apologize for any inaccuracies.
I looked a lot of your videos with crafts from pencils. I decided to do a little hack, and faced with the complexity in the finish.
How do you spend the finish grinding and polishing before coating?
I pencil in a pencil stain wood. Perhaps this is due to the quality pencils.

Why do you not trim everything off round on the band saw? It seems it would save tool sharpening and reduce tare out.

    • @phillipnewton8910
      @phillipnewton8910 5 років тому +1

That's like cheating. Then it wouldn't be shaped by him, but by the saw. He would just be touching it up.
