- This is a woodturning project, woodturning idea. The Milliput Star Dust Bowl
Here I made a star bowl using the Miliputs Putty Resin. this project took some time to complete.
The wood used is Goncalo Alves wood. Woodturning this was ok but the resin part was hard work and I had to do this twice.

Oh also there is no sound in parts of this video. I see you sped it up in spots, but there are definitely areas where there should be sound that don't. Love your work
Even with the sound cutting in & out, I still had fun watching you Zammeti, making up my own "mystery science theater 3000" commentary, while watching you create a beautiful bowl!! 5 yr old video and I'm still amazed at your creations throught the many yrs you've been making them!! Thanks for the enjoyment & entertainment of you and your wood turning!!
So glad to see your earlier stuff happy to see your newer stuff with your awesome personality shining thru
I like your work and thank you for publishing. My first experiment with milliput was a disaster. I apparently didn't knead one of the colors enough and it would not dry, so I had to turn it all off and start all over. I have one suggestion. Please lose the music; I call it voice over racket. There are some of us who have a hard time hearing dialogue when there is noise in the background.
Thanks again, Ron
You don’t realise just how good you are.....excellent bowl x
Hi Nick, I think you should call it the "2nd chance bowl". Lovely piece and well done for owning up to your error. It makes me realise that even seasoned professionals can make errors.
Great job. Hello from Oklahoma, USA. LUV watching you making something out of junk. Keep it up & waffle on !
That’s beautiful!! I love it 🥰
I really like how you are trying all sorts of ideas in your projects!
Hey, thanks Scozio.
Really like this one.
Cool project! love the stars, really. I started wondering what it would look like with bright colored stars on a black background. ✨
Hey Thanks Kristen.
Loved this project! I work with Fimo. I've made all sorts of tiny shapes for cardmakers etc. And buttons. Love the stars design Nick. Still slowly making my way through all your videos.....😁
Nice touch bringing your bowl to a finish adding the miliput on the top ridge. An absolutely stunning bowl Nick....!
Thanks Jack.
Man, if you and templeboy turning did a collab I couldn't even begin to imagine the result. 2 masterful turners smashed into 1 video.
As usual nick, brilliant piece. Really creative stuff, I love it!
Hey man, haha thanks Connor. I'm pleased you like it
Another gorgeous bowl! Love the designs using Milliput. Very cool. 🖤💛❤️
You are very talented
If you have not found out yet you can put in a little oils il for you mica and it would allow you to be able to use it in many projects and you can use colored pigments with a little water or 200 proof alcohol. I hope that helps
Great job, loved the result - I am now got some ideas to try. But, what is hiding under the car cover in back of you? 😎
Another excellent project Nick, well executed and filmed mate.
Cheers
Mike
Hi Mike, thanks , this was a hard one and wasn't perfect but looks ok I suppose. thanks for watching mate.
Nice Milliput work Nick. Thanks for the shout out mate. Good luck with the new channel. Cheers, Jim
thanks Jim, hey no problem, you are the Miliput king!! haha speak soon buddy
I love the idea for this bowl! I haven't worked with milliput so I don't know if it'd be possible without it just shattering or chipping, but if you want really consistent stars, you could try making one log that's star-shaped then letting it harden before slicing it into individual stars.
Also - I keep hoping to see your video with the metal with holes you show in your intro - a lamp shade?
I really enjoyed this video! It turned out really well.
You're quite talented!!
I think its beautiful! Would love to own something like this
very Mediterranean looking love it
Wow me likey da bowl. You have quite the imagination.btw... Most of this video was silent
Totally awesome Nick!
Hey man, Thanks
Amazing
Love the projects with inlaid Milliput. A thought... after you've pressed it in, and it's still not set up... p'raps a small, handheld roller, like a bakers rolling pin... but smaller... could be helpful in pushing it into the creases and getting out air pockets?
Kurts Customz possibly the small paint brush holder, I know some of them are a solid piece, just flimsy. Maybe even a credit card or a small tuna fish metal container could work
Awesome stuff Nick! Fantastic effect and so many possibilities. Loving your titles too! :)
cheers buddy.
These kind of projects are a huge learning experience. Now you know what to do on the next project that involves Miliput. For me, when I use the putty, I believe less is more.
Thanks Robert, I agree
love the bowl. especially with the ring colours.
I wish you would have shown us your mistakes.
Just watching this one a few years later...and I think I would have ix ned the white.
Sorry to hear about the fires over in Austrailia, hope everyone's okay
Pretty sure he is in the UK
Great Video as well as a great looking Bowl I swear someday I need to start mixing some mediums to my wood bowls LOL.Take care and as always be safe.
haha, thanks Rebel. all the best
every nice all ways a pleasure to see you work I gat some realy good idea's.
thanks Paul, this was a pain to do, got there in the end. cheers mate

haha.. well spotted, cheers. lol. sorry about that
I like it, another great job
Thanks malcolm sir
Nice project!
Thanks Willem, I appreciate that sir. All the best
Just started watching you recently. You read a msg. from a woman to be more serious. Well I've watched some of your earlier videos, and I must say I enjoy you more annimated😉
great bowl Nick, given me an idea for a design :)
Hey buddy, that's great news, so much you can do with this idea. although the stars were a pain. I will probably try something a little more easier next time. lol. thanks for watching .
my mum does cake decorating as a hobby and she had tons of different cutters and shapes and one of the things i know she uses is a special release agent as the icing sticks to the cutters like the milliput did.......maybe that could work.....ill give it a go and get back to you :)
Hey, Nick... just so you know, the bowl is really gorgeous, but the sound on the video isn't so great. It cuts out occasionally. Maybe you can fix that.
Nick I can’t find the link for the emblem ( disc on bottom of bowl) as I would like to purchase some? Can you help
Nick why in some of ur videos you look and act so DOWN HEARTED? I love ur funny videos, that's why I watch. You're the best!
Please turn the music down (or off) when you're trying to talk. Thank you. Good work.
Sure, no problem, I didn't realise it was that loud when I spoke but I shall take note , no problem. thanks for watching . All the best
Have you ever tried. Using strips from epoxy .that you got offa colorful epoxypour ?
Hi Nick! Can you give me some tips to getting started in the woodworking world! Thanks Michelle U
sorry just catching up , so many messages. I started by watching others on here and got myself a set of carbide cutting tools. these are very easy to use and start with . I also would recommend a small record power lathe. All the best
Need do moon bowl next time
Wow!
Nice bowl Nick, how much millput did you use?
Wow! Stunning!
thansk Katie. your too kind , but ill take it. haha all the best
Haha! It really is beautiful! And so different!
Is there no sound or is it me? It's strange to see Nick's videos with no waffling....I kind of missed it...it seemed like something was missing.
Can’t understand what your saying for the music. Beautiful bowl
Loved the project. But what’s with the music? The wife thought I was watching porn! I was like “hey it’s not Thursday”.. 😂
Is it really fashionable in the UK to wear a belt unbuckled?
Have you made anything using the metal discs in design?
Once you added the white how long dose it take to dry? Dose it go hard?
stewart gilbert the box says up to 4 hours. The cool thing about it is that the shelf life is a few years! I found the best deal on eBay from the U.K. I got two boxes of black plus free shipping for the same price as one box. Shipping took 5 days, really good deal
Just had a bit of flash, I was making some pie dough and thought of your smuching the Miliput into the groves. With rolling pin in hand I thought that making a mini rolling pin with a handle just might be the ticket to smooth out the Miliput so that you would have minimal turning to smooth out the insert. Anyhow, just a thought.
Hey Earl, the putty is so sticky , I would literally stick to the pin unfortunately. Its really sticky stuff. its a pain. thanks for watching as always sir All the best
Nick Zammeti NZ WoodTurning put corn starch on your hands with the milliput, you can easily get the starch off. Either with a damp towel or a brush will take it off. You can also make a HDPE roller that epoxy resin doesn't stick to and you'll find many uses for it. Just cut up some milk bottles and some plastic bags and then melt it. You can then make a rough shape and stick it onto your lathe and make a smooth rolling pin.
Check out Peter Browns video! He makes a HDPE rolling pin. Just got to make sure you don't mix any other type of plastic in it. I'm sure you're pen blank molds are made from HDPE
Hi Nick. Nice bowl. Where do you get the emblems from?
dam, forgot that, I've updated the description for you . thanks for reminding me.
Audio goes out in some parts of the video
The sound was out most of the time!
Is the wood Goncalvases(sp?) lol
👍
where did you buy the epoxyd resin ? thanks in the front
Hey Nic, I didn't use any epoxy resin here, just the miliputs putty resin, this is get form the local crafts shop or eBay. All the best
thank you very much
Oh no! The sound is lost 😔
Wait what happened to the blue ones from the beginning, they are black now. Huh am I confused or just stupid?? Someone help me out here.
Sound kept going out
No sound
Hi, I'm just watching your older videos and this one, not too sure if it's my comp or not but from about 2:30 to 5:30 there is no sound whatsoever. I know there should be because you're mouth is moving in parts and no waffle is coming out :(
Edited: it's happening all through the video now in totally random times..
It's not your computer, I'm not getting sound either.
That "music" is NOT background.especially when your talking it;s horrible
👍
