It's a love song again. And for me a love story. I was 18 dating a 25 year old woman. She invited all her friends for her birthday party. And said to me, you can sleep at my place. I had a heavy crush on her. Madly in love. But 7 years older and very beautiful. No chance. And expecting more people to sleep over but everyone left. Just me and her. Do i sleep on the couch? No in my bed. The rest I ll tell you another time. Cliffhanger. But she loved this song.
Oh and btw Fade to black. Again love song and it's about loss. James Hetfield wrote the song after his favorite guitar amp was stolen after a gig. And he loved it so much and was devastated. So it's actually not about death but it's music and open for interpretation and might feel that way. 😉

Tacp 2002-2009. Similar event happened to me. 7 kia. Myself and one other wounded. 2007-2009 i learned to walk agin. The other soldier with me took his own life 5 years ago. Bless you for bringing vets together through your videos.

I, like my older brother was lucky. 0 deaths in my unit during both of my tours in Afghanistan. My older brother was sent to Iraq, and his unit came back with 0 casualties.
Videos like this hit me hard. One of my little brothers wants to join the military, and i explained to him that it's rough on the body, and he might not ever get to visit his family. He's insisting on joining up, so my plan is to guide him towards career fields that will keep him out of danger.
You might want to check out Coming Down. It isn't about the military but does deal with another heavy topic, bullying and teen suicide.

The beep at the beginning is the beep you will have after a huge blast. Temporary hearing loss. It's an IED. He's got shellshock just standing there staring. 3 KIA 3 killed in action. And he's picking up the dog tags from the sand that are normally around your neck. There's information on it. Name, army number, country, religion and blood type. But it mean the guy is vaporised in the blast if you can just only find the steel dog tags. And he's punching the armoured vehicle cause he's buddy is gone. Just his dog tags left.
The rest is army officers telling his wife her husband died and she collapses to the floor. And what it seems like a soldier with ptsd. But he's going back to the recruitment office to go back. Again an IED and the tyre driving over a trigger on the road. He opens his footlocker and puts a gun to his head. So thinking about suicide. But a second time back to the recruitment office for another tour.
And you see a c-17 globemaster landing. They shoved over 800 people in 1 globemaster when evacuating people from kandahar afghanistan.
I got tears in my eyes after 30 seconds. Another tough one.
A C-17 Globemaster can land on unpaved runways cause it's wings are high up so the engines will not suck in dust and debri. Modular inside so quickly put in seats for long range troop transport, or take a abrams m1 battletank or airdrops of vehicles or materials. These things are crazy. They are based in Charleston south carolina and sometimes fly over my house in the NL to Ramstein air base Germany. But you can''t track them with a flighttracker cause they keep changing the callsigns after a flight.
Maybe some will wonder why they walk in front of the armoured humvee and not sit in it. Walking in front of it, you can see anomalies in the road, wires, disturbances, a trigger meganisme which they missed at the second IED. But why take the Humvee and not just walk? There is a .50cal heavy machine gun on it. A Browning m2 .50Cal is half an inch so 12,7mm diameter rounds. It's anti aircraft and anti material. The rounds are so powerful, you can shoot through walls and lightly armoured vehicles. Effective range over a 1 km. So it's a massive amount of fire power. And the Humvee is fast transport back if you have wounded.
You are right there is something like survivors guilt. But it could also be he's mad at himself for missing the trigger in the road at the second IED and blames himself for his friends dying. Anyway he's going back for a 3th tour.
As someone who belongs to a military family this is all to real for so many families 🙏 pray for the soldiers they're just following orders

Five Finger Deathpunch covered this song, the song they covered from the Offspring in 1997, same lyrics and everything, is worth a listen, different tone to the song as it wasnt dealing with current issues, but a really good song
They do have several songs that are not as heavy emotionally. Some good ones are "Under And Over It", a great cover of "Blue on Black" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who is a guest on it. Another great one is "Sham Pain" any of these would be great reactions
