Hey girl! You're one of a billion reasons why we do what we do. Three combat tours. I'm a US Marine Combat Vet. I may not know you, but know that I love you. Cherish your life and your freedom. I just lost my home. Yet I stay here. Even after our service, WE STILL. . . Sacrifice. Our souls being one many give up for the benefit of others. Semper Fidelis! ALWAYS . . . FAITHFUL!

Brother, it don't mean nothin'... It only gets worse as you get older! Please seek (legally) a medication treatment; the Quacks at the VA will be more than happy to RX you something to help the shakes and the dreams go away so you can get sleep for a few hours more every night. Best of luck, Ranger Medic here. I've been there, don't let it get to you like it has to me! Please!

@iamjam: As a US Navy vet, thank you so much for reacting to this video.
While, as one commenter said, the numbers in the video are a few years old, the issues facing US military veterans haven't gone away.
Particularly, in my own life, the suicide part is very true, as I have a brother who served in the US Marine Corps, and after he came home, I saved him from taking his own life. The things facing military veterans are very real, and one issue facing vets that wasn't mentioned is survivor's guilt, as my brother's best friend took a fatal sniper's bullet for him overseas -- and I think it was survivor's guilt as to why he became suicidal a couple of years after he came home.
And the video is right about the VA, Veterans Administration, having a fraction of the funds to help veterans. To put things into perspective, President Donald Trump, during his presidency, ordered the repair and upgrading of the main VA hospital in Virginia, Walter Reed, to be repaired, as a full third of the hospital building had been condemned. It was horrible. But the hospital had the work done on it that it so desperately needed. It's a sad state of affairs when non-government agencies do more to help veterans than the government does.
If you've ever served, thank you for your service. Those who are free can never repay the debt we owe those who serve. And may one day we end the trend of suicide facing those who serve.

Gets me every time, My husband was a Vietnam veteran, I saw the PTSD up close and personal, I was married for 20 years until he passed away. The Veteran administration does not do outreach for them. PTSD is nothing to play with, they go back in to the fight, that one guy screaming and police get him, that was PTSD, guy with the picture, his wife took the kid and left. It's so sad. I saw what my husband went through.
Now to change the subject, I am 67 years old, this group is great, it's about the lead singer life, but it is great, you don't have to worry about copy rights, he loves to react to your reaction. Lead singer is Ronnie Radke and band is falling in reverse,. Songs I like is popular monster and zombiefied and don't try to figure out his genre he is it all. This man is unique.

I was one of them. I was part of the lead invasion into Afghanistan back in 2001. Now, I'm not homeless or drugged up. But, my 6 children were taken from me in 2003. You want to know what I was guilty of?...being a Green Beret caught up in two wars. I never once neglected or abused my wife and children. I never once cheated on my wife. But, NO serviceman will get his kids, no matter what the wife does. Mine did everything that I said I didn't do. But that doesn't matter. Everything in life that matters to you will get taken away by a couple of lawyers and a judge. And, because of this, I have an immeasurable hate for them. I despise them more than those who were trying to kill me. But, because of it all, I realized that all we were were expendable assets... AND NOTHING MORE!! Now, I knew what my outcome might be(other than losing my family). But, I wanted to do it anyway. I KNEW THE RISKS. And, I took them. But, what's done to these veterans is shameful. They now know where they stand in the eyes of this country.

We went to a hellhole, we did things we'd rather not have done, we saw horrible things you know nothing about...
Then, we came back "home" to find all the people we cherished were in a different world, and none but other vets could comprehend, sometimes...
The men we fought next to were and will always be closer to us than anyone, ever...
    They were my Brothers!
And because we couldn't cope with the pain from our experiences "over there" we lost something, did something wrong, missed a shift at work, and we lost our "homes" for lack of rent, for lack of a mortgage payment, whatever... And the streets became our home... Now, every day, every hour, we fight not just our selves but you as well for not comprehending what we don't understand about humanity being entirely evil if given a chance.
I'm one of the "lucky ones", I have all my parts, I'm "blessed" with good health, but my mind is gone... I wonder where it found solace from me...?
Of my unit, I am the last one alive and not living in a VA Hospital or care facility...
I wonder if my Brothers will remember me on the Other Side, I long to see them again...

This is an incredible video. FFDP has a lot of great songs. I recommend checking out Sabaton Christmas Truce or Soldier of Heaven. They have a ton of great educational songs about world War 1 and other events throughout history.
I also recommend Cradle of Filth Nymphetamine Fix this is another great band and the writing style is very intricate in their songs.

Every time I hear that song I cry. To everyone who has served in the military and their families, I salute you. Addiction, alcoholism, homelessness and suicide are all too common among our veterans. 22 suicides every day committed by veterans is 1 too damn many. The really screwed up part is most people either don't know what is going on or they don't give a fuck. 90% of the band is former military and they have a special place in their hearts for the military.

I deployed twice to Iraq and once to that sandbox Afghanistan, sustained combat throughout...and no, the the stats in this vid are not correct as this vid is a number of years old...the number of vets on the streets today is much higher than that 300,000 number, with many of em dealing with addiction and mental health (PTSS) issues....

I can't confirm this but I came across the following info somewhere. The lead singer of the band wears a dog tag that belonged to a slain soldier. Near the soldier's body was an iPad belonging to the dead soldier that was playing five finger death punch, so this was partially in memory to him. I Apologize as I can't remember if the soldier was ever named.

There you lie on the street With your eyes full of sorrow The people look dirty and angry They see you but they don't see you They don't know about your past The reason you are here That you fought so hard They are just very spoiled They don't see your mental pain They don't know what you feel They don't want to be there for you You've always felt it You were at the front in the war Fighting for your homeland Many dead and seriously injured It all got out of hand You were a strong tough soldier Now discarded like old dirt Living like a zombie on the street No one wants to help and I cry They see you as a murderer Someone without a conscience They think you're scary and weird You are avoided like the plague Why don't you get some respect Government help and information The trauma has killed you mentally So you say now all get the crap

You don't think about the sacrifice. 4 purple hearts a silver star, 2 bronze stars all with a *V* for valor doesn't make up for it. I dream about this and more. To the 19 men who died trying to save my life after my 2nd IED, then the medivac helo crashed after being shot down....
You don't hear these stories. My left side completely trashed. 15 surgeries later, I can at least walk and not a wheelchair anymore...
Be well, I'm still alive. God only knows why...

As a USMC vet, you or others of any nation can like or agree/disagree on what we do, our governments policies, just know, we, as a people will always try to do right, right or wrong, for or against our government, st times, in ways. We don’t all just support the governments and we all think and decide on our own. And nothing we do is without hideous cost, we try.

No one that has not been in a war can understand. It has nothing to do with nationality I can relate with a person that fought a war for their country better than a US citizen that has not. But that is why we fought so most never have to understand. 1991-2011 (retired)
