The scene, where its showing that the guy had to look out for IED's, and he missed one, and lost 3 of his brothers... And to know, that there is people out there, blaming themselves for making mistakes like that. I was a rescue diver, and I lost a dear friend, because of a mistake I made. You cannot even begin to understand, how much you hate yourself for that.

This serviceman lived through an IED explosion, watching all of his friends die, survivors guilt, honorable discharge, PTSD and suicidal tendencies from watching all his friends die, and reenlistment to the military wearing 3 arm bands to signify his dead friends. Pretty god damn patriotic if you ask me. There is a great strength in resolve you just have to find it in yourself.

This! Some people are living the selfless service value along with the rest of them, and that makes them incredibly strong. Theres no words that can match the feelings that you can get from being a part of something like that, and consequently there are no words the match the feelings that come after its done. Superhumans, and incredibly important to me, each and every one of my brothers and sisters out there.

I just recently started watching your videos and this one really touches home with me. I served 7 year in the United States Marine Corp and was medically discharged after my humvee struck an I.E.D in Afghanistan and I have been fighting with survivor guilt for the last 10 years because I made it home and several of my brothers didn't. War sucks and a normal person only gets the idea of what happens from what they see on the news. Thank you for doing what you do and God bless you and yours.

Coming from an overseas vet, they got super tough songs to get through but they are huge supporters of the very best causes - helping veterans, dealing with mental health, coping with abandonment, processing loss... Love their music or hate their music, you gotta put respect where respect is due and that's just that. Many have already suggested "Wrong Side of Heaven" (also war related) but all of their heavy hitters are worth spreading the word for - Remember Everything, When the Seasons Change, Coming Down, all terribly powerful stuff. Please do consider it.

I signed my first will at the age of 19 years old. My mortality was aparent at a young age. My verteran brothers and i fought and died for those not capable of doing it. We made the sacrifice so others did not have to. My brothers and i appreciate the recognition of the common man seeing that we are never the same after what weve done. Just dont forget my family when peace comes to the land. We saw, we did, and we were told to ignore; but we can never ignore the devastion we brought to people. We suffer in silence to not burden others with our internal battles.

As someone who has been to war, I understand your reaction. I don't like war, but I did my duty when war came. I grew up with a quote that I'm not sure who said it, but it goes like this. "People sleep peaceably at night in their beds because rough men stand ready to visit violence on their behalf." I grew up knowing that for there to be peace in this world, someone had to stand ready to fight to ensure the safety of those who could not. My family has had members in every branch and in every conflict in this country since the Revolutionary War. Some have died, most lived through those conflicts. When my time came I never thought twice about it. And even though I lived through the conflict in Iraq, my body didn't fair too well. But I don't regret what I sacrificed, because the blessings that I have received since then have been tenfold. I have 6 wonderful kids, and amazing wife, and I even learned to walk again. I hope that nobody has to go to war, but I thank God that there are those who are willing to do so.

Love you Dee! I can see how these kinds of videos affect you and...as strange as it may seem, it is kind of comforting to some of us that have been thru these kinds of experiences because it reminds us that there are some people that still care enough to be moved by the sacrifices that have been made. I felt it when you said "fuck war" because I get it when you see pain and loss, how it makes you angry. It may seem senseless but, Another way of looking at it is, we have something that we love so much that we are willing to lay down our lives for, and there are worse things in this world than death.Life without freedom is that for me. I can't imagine going thru life not caring about anything enough to give my life to protect and defend it.I was there for my brothers when they did,and I am proud to have the memories of how brave and honorable they faced fear. Sorry I went on so long but, just know that I appreciated you enough that I felt moved to write this. Semper Fi !! (Always Faithful!)

I completely understand the "fuck war" comment. I do. But as a veteran myself. Who lost a battle buddy, the least people can do is support us. Let us know our sacrifice didn't go for nought. Most of us joined at a very young age. This is why we stand for the national anthem. I don't need anyone's money. But just remember us is all. Some gave everything.

Any sane person doesn't want war. Sometimes though it is necessary to combat evil. You can only be nice for so long. Evil people don't care about compromise or getting along...only destruction.
You have to admire the real life heroes like the guys portrayed in the video. They toe'd the line and stepped up to volunteer to go after the evil doers.
    Another great reaction vid!

    • @danielrupp7578
      @danielrupp7578 3 роки тому

All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing.
I have the conversation numerous times. Hitler wouldn't be stopped with sanctions, a slap on the wrist, or with a harsh phone call. It took blood, sweat and tears from all over the world. Men, no boys, lined up to sign up to stand against the evil. In the end they prevailed but with a devastating loss of life. Memorial Day should be, used to be, and to this cranky vet still is about those men and women who heeded their nation's call and stood up against a particular evil. Giving all in the process.

It doesn't even have to be war.
I served during a period of relative peace, the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. I never saw combat. I worked in an Intelligence office, processing security clearances. I was never shot at, and under every normal circumstances, no one I worked with would ever be in danger of dying any more than any one else.
On April 14th, 1992, my friends and I were performing preventative maintenance on the vehicle assigned to our office for field operations. It was an M-113 armored personnel carrier. An M-113 is a tracked vehicle that weighs around 12.3 tonnes. It is quite capable of climbing over and crushing beneath it a standard automobile. So you can imagine what would happen to someone that was run over by it.
We had unlimbered the track on one side of the vehicle -- to do this, you have to disconnect the track, start the engine, and then move the vehicle forward slowly until the track "unspools" on that side so you can perform repairs. Normally if you're careful its a safe operation. This time something happened. My best friend Terry was caught underneath the vehicle, and the weight of it pinched both his legs off just below the waist. He died in my arms, bleeding out in seconds. Just a stupid training accident during peacetime. But it doesn't make my friend any less dead.
After serving six years, I was given a medical discharge. Having witnessed my best friend's death, I was seriously in the depths of PTSD and it was deemed better to just release me back into civilian life than try to recover me as a useful soldier. Its been 30 years since, and I still have nightmares, I am still seeing a therapist, and there are times I still feel Terry's blood on me (and at the time, it covered me; I know now how much blood is in a person's body, because he lost all of it. I will never forget what I've seen, and it will haunt me to the end of my days.
So like I said, doesn't even have to be a war.

I remember when this song originally came out by the band The Offspring and honestly it hit me hard then and it was not connected to the military. I served in the military and when I seen that Five Finger Death Punch did this song and then I seen the video it brought a whole new meaning to the song that made it even harder for me to listen to it. This is the first time I have watched someone react to this song ever since I first seen the video when it first came out. Thank you for doing this reaction.

Thank you for reacting to this. Especially when the soldier was going to end his own life. I’ve buried a few with those who have. Hell I’ve almost been there myself!! This was intense watching your reaction.

My best friend lost his entire squad in Afghanistan. He was 50/50. Was a great soldier, even guarded Bush at Camp David, where he had his pic taken with Bush & the 1st lady over X-mas. Swear to God the joker held up THE SHOCKER hand sign in it. My g/f of 6 yrs left me for him right before the tragedy & due to that I'm ashamed to say when I was told, I'd hoped he'd die. I'm crying now😥 THANK GOD HE LIVED & gives speeches all over because he's great. I told him what I'd wished & begged forgiveness he gave in 1 second. Friends again. I grew up in Fort Bragg & I ❤ all men & women who serve. You're undervalued, underappreciated & discarded by politicians. Again, sorry, thanks, I ❤ y'all

I watch these videos often to see reactions to the message. Because the message isn't "for the war". It's about those who suffer. Those who we've lost. And remembering that out soldiers are people. Not just pawns.

I have 2 KIA/MIA black bracelets (he has 3 on in the last scene each for one of his fallen comrades) and I remember when my buddy 1st pointed out one of our NCO's had 2 and I didnt know what it ment till later. The silent acknowledgment is the loudest silence you'll ever hear....

FFDP have a lot of songs that focus on the military. I don't know how many times I've watched this music video and I cry every time. Another really good one, and one that has an important message, is Wrong Side of Heaven. Ive watched a few of your videos but your reaction to this is what made me subscribe. Looking forward to more!

PTSD and Survivors guilt are the 2 biggest things a soldier carries away from a warzone. None of us ever really came home from the war when we came home from the war, especially those of us that served in combat.

It’s something I hope no one reading, or, reacting to this, or, really anyone has to experience.
I wasn’t in the blast, but I was forced to watch it from the back.
    It stays forever.
Sometimes it slips your mind but, it crawls back every time, sooner or later.
    Appreciate the response/reaction. You’re a good lady.
