    The fact that he has 3 Medals of Honor shows that he has the heart to be Capt. America, just not the right temperament. Nobody talks about how uncomfortable Walker is in this interview, his laughter is fake, he is playing a public persona/facade, and when she brings up his resume and his medals, he is clearly reluctant to talk about it so he tries to direct the answers elsewhere about doing his job as Cap and wanting to keep people safe.
    Also, just a comics connection that most people don’t notice, Walker saying that he wants to make people feel safe because Steve was someone who could do that, how Steve gave him hope and how he feels like a brother - Walker was left behind in a burning house when he was a kid and imagined Steve/Cap rescuing him, it turned out to be his older brother Mike who got him out, Mike later died overseas, killed in action.

May be they could have taught him some stuff about Steve and how to try and be more like him. But they didn't.
      And the whole reason for Sam choosing to not be captain America ended up being about Sam's race towards the very end as if they couldn't figure out where to take the series anymore. "So let's just make this about Sam being black and no one would complain because no one would wanna sound like a racist".
      Marvel has never once in 20 movies addressed the racial topic once and all of a sudden they decided to be some woke mfs. 🤣

It also did not help Sam and Bucky were facing a lot of problems at that time. And he was kind of delusional: He considered Steve a brother, even If he never even saw or met him in person. I think that, had he tried to be less Captain America and more of himself, maybe things would have turned out better, and he could have been allies with Sam and Bucky.

    Bugs me how he is able to be so accurate with the shield without any enhancements. In the comics, throwing the shield with Cap level accuracy is something very few can do like Hawkeye and Bucky, Sam can't do it particularly well to this day. In the MCU, Cap has to perfect his technique throughout the movies to get it to come back to him and he progressively masters it. John Walker, without the serum or any enhancements, can snipe with it and have it return right to him instantly. Pretty bs.

    I feel like he crumbled under the expectation of the mantle of CA, handled it really poorly and let it get to his head. Steve was always Steve Rogers first and Captain America second, letting his selfless desire to help others be his compass, whereas I think John thought being CA meant letting that define him, so his ego became way over inflated, and he tried to use that “title” to gain an advantage, something Steve never needed.

    • @CaptainPikeachu
      @CaptainPikeachu Рік тому

      Steve also never had anyone question his authority or worthiness to be Cap. He’s the first Cap, he originated it, it’s not like anyone can really say he’s doing it wrong. And that’s the thing, John is coming into this with way too much expectation and pressure, and everyone and their mother had an idea of what Cap should or shouldn’t be. They couldn’t tell Steve who or how to be, but they could to John. He’s handling weights that Steve just didn’t really have. And it’s not helped by the fact that John is also physically just outmatched by everyone else through no fault of his own when his opponents are basically all super powered. Steve is fighting people on equal footing or he has super powers to fend them off, John doesn’t have that. Honestly it’s the govt’s fault sending out a regular person to face off super soldiers and armed him with nothing but one handgun and a metal frisbee. Disaster was always gonna strike, it was just a matter of when or if john was gonna end up a martyr.
