I was in Basic training when one morning my Drill Sergeant walked in and said " Privates i dont know if any of you know who this is or if any of you care but Jonny Cash passed away last night." Most of the platoon paid no mind however i was crushed! Jonny Cash was truly one of the greatest and there will never be another like him! Hearing him sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic always brings a tear to my eye.

I was deployed to Ecuador when I heard the news. Made sure I went out and had a few drinks for him and made sure the bar owner only played Johnny that night. I had just landed in Turkey when the enroute guys had told me Waylon had died. Funny how the great music you grew up with means so much to you and others around have no clue how great they were.

Johnny Cash originally wanted to be a gospel singer. There were too many gospel singers at the time for the record companies to want him to do gospel albums so he made his fame on other stuff but deep down inside he'd have chosen to be a moderately well known gospel singer over being a superstar.

Jesus commands to any person who has faith in Him To die To self to be set free. The civil wars and any war between supposed christians just show that men have failed God's commandments through the mouth of Jesus His begotten Son. He was in it the entire length of the war and somehow lived through it. He was in the infantry. He lived through 16 major battles and numerous skirmishes. He was a sharp shooter for General Sherman. Thank the Lord that he was able to came home and father our clan.

Similar here. Great grand dad James and his dad Jesse went south together. They lived but the elder's health was broken. Jim studied medicine later and practiced some with a younger brother. Another was Union cavalry. They left the war where they found it. What a difference a President makes.
