Yet look how they treated him!!! Even to this day, they call it "the opioid epidemic" ..still NO 1 HAS SANG 1 SONG TO REACH the young kids, adults to help them. They condemmend this man, HE NNEDED A MEDAL!! I WAS A HEROIN USER BEAT WHEN I GOT PG WITH MY SON, WHO IS NOW TURNING 3 APRIL4,2019!!!! THANK GOD I GOT AWAY FROM IT.
Have you ever listened to the words of "The Man In Black"? I've heard it maybe only a few times in my life, but the other night I listened to the words & WOW! His wearing of black wasn't for the purpose of being down n all; it was a commemorative kind of thing...in honor of.... well, go listen & or read it! :D
Gina Campbell Please do your best... EVERY SECOND. You are Worthy. Please keep trying. Think of other things to do..look at something too give you the right boost.. stay away from the dark.. You are strong.. find you
Oh Lord Jesus be with those that are fighting demons of addiction...lay your hands on their bodies and help them through...give them strength comfort and peace...I ask this in your precious name Lord Jesus Amen...
Lord, you are our deliverer. We can do anything through Christ who strengthens us…but, we must take the first step. We must realize we have a problem and a need… and we must ask for help. I ask Lord, that you will give each person the courage to face up to their problems and to have a strong desire to change. We ask that you will remove all outside influences that hinder them from coming clean and who perpetuate their addictions. We ask in Jesus’ name, that you will bind the enemy and that you will put your angels about each person to protect them tonight from themselves and from the things that keep dragging them down. Amen Brother, we are praying for you
Amen well done, much respect to you and thanks heaps. It is soo hard, but Ive lost too many good people and missed too many oppurtunities in my life.. Im not missing another... Day 20..
I am sober today. I still listen to this song. It reminds me of what awaits me if I make a bad choice. Even though being sober is difficult and can be boring it's still better than being sick and suffering.
Hope you're still sober. If so, I just wanted to encourage you to stay strong. That misery you're talking about....... it's still right where you left it. I'm in the thick of it now, actually. For your sake, please never come back to this experience.
I’ll take being sober any day over being an alcoholic and IV heroin user right out of high school. Though I do sometimes think of heroin as an ex lover I can’t believe is gone . Then I remember she is gone for good for a reason.
I'm with you too! The same awaits us if we ever forget! Lost Soo many, too many! They say I was lucky to get through it and I know I was but I still don't have my dear friends and it hurts all the same. 😢
Im on my 4th day of opiate withdrawal .. im 24....its too difficult .. this song saved me from relapse .. im done with drugs .. Thank you Johnny and all my fellows may God be with you ..
You can do it, my friend! 30 years off meth after 10 years on, and I am a weak, weak man. It can be done!! Please comment again when you are celebrating your first month!
I haven’t ever heard this song either but on second line I just started balling like a lil baby. I too struggle daily, almost six months clean & I slipped up 5 days ago... I know it’s going to kill me dead, I knew better than doing it, I no running strong 25+ my next may be my last.. So I pray for strength... prayers to all, and to all may God Bless you.
I love this song. I can't believe i have never heard it. I am a drug addict. I fight the Devil everyday. Some days i win , some days i don't. I won today. I pray that i can win tommorrow too ! God bless you all.
25 years on methadone off it now worse withdrawals iv ever experienced 12 wks of pain, but I still have the odd bag,but with no script(methadone)I got to do it hard core,,and I'm fxxking sick of it,if only I was never put on 25 years ago I would have stop cos the rattle is horrific. Never give up that's my advice.
You know he sings about things that he doesn’t actually know about but this is something he actually I believe knows about first hand. Only because I’m familiar with most every lyric he’s speaking of this one may not be as catchy as Folsom prison. Rip Jonny ca$h and defiantly appreciate my 4 years of sobriety.
You're right...I myself lived through the hell that addiction is for over 9 years..but I was able to get my life back from the pills with the love of my family and friends...real friends that is... I found out that I didn't have as many friends as I thought after I got clean I just had a lot of drug buddies but I'd do anything to help them get straight that I can... I'm working on 7 years clean now and God has blessed me with many things but most of all a great relationship with loved ones and 3 grandsons.. Life is great now... And guys like Johnny and Waylon have been inspirational to me because they both got clean... God bless all of those who are dealing with addiction it's a nightmare and I hate to see anyone suffering from it..
My son clean for two years from heroin and the needle. He says he couldn't be happier and will never go back. Thank you Jesus🙏🙏🙏 for answered prayers. I pray for all who struggle and tell them to surrender to God. Praise be to God🤗
I'm so happy for you and your son. I lost my oldest daughter just turned 2 years ago to drugs and alcohol. I wouldnt wish this pain on any mother. She wasnt strong enough to fight it and finally just quit caring. I am truly happy your son was strong. May GOD Bless you both.
@@JohnNeal-l7k thanks mate. I too had been an addict for a long time like yourself, about 22 years. It's the whole thing of learning to live a whole different life/lifestyle again that's really hard . The actual detox is easy in comparison to that isn't it. And needing to leave old friends behind too is heartbreaking. I'm now about 10 years clean but about only 5 years if you include methadone. Again much love to you and I wish you the best of lives too as anyone who was addicted for as long as you and then managed to kick it well deserves it! 👍 x
The best thing about Johnny is that no matter what, he stood in what he believed in. No matter who was on his side, he always stuck to his guns and spoke what he believed, and that’s very admirable and noble. This is exactly why everyone can relate and loves this man. God bless you Johnny and may your soul R.I.P
Ive been a drug addict since i was 19, methadone heroin and valium, im now 45, Johnny Cash totally gets it. What a great man, im so glad we have his music..Thank you, Johnny.
I've been a drug addict since I was 17.im 38 nxt wk I'm on methadone the last 15 yrs but 3months I've not done no pills and I'm lowering my methadone thanks 2 1 special man who's giving me love, love that I have never know. ❤️
Find out about sublocade. My heart goes out to being so young. My husband has been battling addiction for last 14 years, it's sad to see his life passing him by. He just recently found someone who will cover the monthly cost of it, thank God bcuz it's not cheap. I wish you all the best.
Remember the Creator loves you deeply, even though our fellow man may kill, lie, steal and cheat. You are a valuable person. Every moment in life is precious, treat it like it's your last drop of water. Life changes rapidly every second and hurls rocks at you, but you will be able to get back up, even if you couldn't dodge them. Mankind is both a beautiful, fragile, yet treacherous creation. Mankind is beautiful because everyday someone is born, someone is enjoying life, but we close our hearts to eachother, we can lust after many things. But if we clear our blocked path, blocked by greed, we will be able to slowly and painstakingly, yet amazingly walk anywhere we please. If one has had a hard life, it isn't over, in this life, or the next, the Creator will reward you. Because of this never give up on your dream, dreams are memories that are yet to be remembered. God bless you, and I will keep you in my prayers! 🙏
Ive been the Devils son for way to long.... he snatched me when i was a child... ive been fighting the battles of addiction and its behaviors since then. A Chronic relapser . Have 50 days today. I will never sell my soul. I will continue to get up brush it off and try to find my true father 1 day.. God... is Good....
This comment is amazing, faith is something amazing and I have similar problems to you, hopefully we can both repent in time and gain forgiveness from our creator, god bless.
I really needed this! Been a junkie for 7 years.. Many failed attempts to get sober. A few months here and there.. But this time is different.. Because its life or death now. I can no longer remotely function as a human if I use.. So the next time I use will be my last. And I dont want to die... One week clean yesterday.. just have to make it through today. Ill worry about tomorrow when it comes.
Talk to us Joe. Regardless of where you are or have been the past 7 months. We want to know how you are. We are ready, listening, praying for you, hoping to hear good news or REMIND you of some things you may have forgotten.... oxo God Bless - look forward to hearing from you soon.
That is an incredible testimony Jody! 30 years! wow - my son was for 13 years and he is lucky to be alive! How ARE things Joe? I hope you found the miracle you needed! Please share with us.
Johnny Cash was a very special man! I have 15 years clean, I lost everything more than once, id been to hell, prison & begged. Every word of this song is true!! Im glad to say i am truly blessed to be a successful, family man today!. RIP Johnny! Thank you...
I am a crack smoker.. I hope and pray oneday i will stop and live life like a normal person...this song is saved so i can listen and be inspired to quit..pray for me.
Don't give up Seven 30. And find out if you have an underlying condition like depression or anxiety adhd add or bipolar, stuff like that. When I found the right antidepressant I was able stop drinking. Don't ever give up. Don't run from God let your addiction be a catalyst that pushes you closer to God. Your desperation -use it... drown yourself in the word RENEW YOUR MIND. Become so full of God that you gain the strength to overcome anything that is not of God. JUST NEVER GIVE UP! You are in my prayers!!
May I suggest you devise with and take on an elective overwhelming project at the same time? I kicked meth over six weeks when I was focused on finding my lost dog, and quit drinking after Mother's Day Brunch gave me stomach poisoning and that first week sober whether I liked it or not. I couldn't tell the DTs from the uncooked bacon. Then it's one day at a time. It sounds like you've got past the withdrawal period with your feet on the ground, good for you!
No i think ill leave it the way it is. I feel amazing and im well past the withdrawl period . i am doing the steps i have made biggrr mistakes than writing something the wrong way. Im proud of myself. My future and for the first time ina. Long time. My family friends and kids are all proud too.. I have my ohhohh moment. I will be the addict that never turnes back.. I want to help people feel as good as myself rite now in this moment. Tomorrow i may not feel this good.. Ya never know.. Im living for rite now rite here this moment. And today anyone who can say they are proud of who they are today.. Well damn. Give addiction an extra kick in the ass for thr ones who dont have it in em yet.. Ill say this.. Its worth it!!
abargle by the way i make these Swarovski crystal suncatchers ..keeps my hands buzy my time and the rehab i just left i donated a bunch..now i have a small contract to keep me employed making them for all residental rooms at this same rehab...so yeah i got the hobby down and groups &meetings& a sponsor.. But most of all i have kid's and a family .. A newly 100% legally blind husband who needs me
Incredibly brave to address this problem in front of a national audience. Especially at a time when subject matter such as this was somewhat taboo.A great man.
My sister was only 36 years old when her addiction took her life. My heart goes out to anyone who has a family member hooked on something it hard to watch as they spiral down knowing you can't do anything to to help them.
Hi , yes it is the worst thing to handle in life.I always think why it makes no sense. My Brother died two months before he turned 50.He raised me when my Father abanded us.I feel your pain and we are all in this together!
I lost my grandson on 06/24/21 only a few weeks ago He was on drugs and he committed suicide, he shot himself in the head.He was only 29years old and had a little girl. My daughter is having such a horrible time We all are , the whole family but my heart breaks for her more than myself He was using the needle and Meth and who knows what else .Please get help before you do anything to yourself in Jesus name I pray for his love and saving grace for anyone on drugs and prayers for the family too
I had an ex brother-in-law well liked not only in his family. Served in the navy with awards not known to most including his family, take his own life at the age 36, fighting his addictions. He left a daughter. Myself i know how hard it is!!! My heart goes out to you!! I feel your pain!! I will help share this pain with you to hopefully relieve any of yours!!!!!
Yes! Amen! The help starts with touching just 1 person in the vicious cycle. Johnny Cash had been there, he can speak on it with power and conviction. A simple but very deep meaningful song. I give the utmost respect to the legendary man. I just wish I could have known him personally. God Bless!!!!!
I love this so it reminds me of the pain I used to go through. I used for 26 long year's. the needle was my master. I got clean in 2014 and have been clean since. when I was withdrawing I listened to this song and cried I wanted to die. I now work in a rehab and get paid to help people.
This is to "I'm in hell", I don't know you or pretend to know your situation, but I do know addiction(long time addict to pain pills and coke) and I also know the pain from losing my best friend to suicide many years ago(Dec 1998). I was able to overcome addiction in Feb '04. You may be blinded from it at the moment, but you are worth much more than you see. I'm praying for you and that the hell will pass. It will pass and when it does, you'll see that you've got so much to offer. Don't rob this world of the greatness you can become or the originality you can create.
I've been clean 38 years !! Not on my own strength but Jehovah God's strength and support from family and friends and those chasing the same goal . Chose your associates wisely and listen to old country, and pray ,and anything is possible !!!
I honestly can't believe there's any thumbs down on this song God bless you Johnny Cash for being an honest addict we will always be addicts whether we're clean sober or dry we will always be addicts thank you Johnny for being honest and truthful
@L They likely come from those with no understanding whatsoever about what addiction truly is - a disease, no different than any other disease. People need to be educated about addiction and stop associating it with socioeconomic status, race, or thinking it is a matter of "willpower" or a weakness of character or the many other things people commonly associate with addiction.
@@MrAshtonone Always a matter of Genuine and sincere Honest to God Repentance..Jesus came to set the Captive free , overcoming death and sin ,He was nailed to be a Curse for us .. Then proclaimed,, IT IS FINISHED...☝️
My sentiments exactly - cryin right now reading through more of them. I have never been addicted to narcotics, but I have my own struggles, and they are just as real. I watched firsthand while my precious baby boy [36 now] fought to break free of Meth addiction. I may as well have been addicted to it as I died every time I had to see him slip and detox and try again over and over. His pain was felt deeply in this mama's heart. That demon gets inside the brain and literally claws and rips and screams inside until you essentially have no choice but to pick up and use again. I understand. I just wish others did too. I get so sick of hearing those who say so many negative, unhelpful, and really, destructive things to the addict who really just longs to be free! God bless every single individual who has to fight these demons [drugs or otherwise] and give you [us] strength to move forward another hour, another day, until freedom is secured!
@@debilyn9522 praying for you. I understand the pain. I was addicted to heroin for 20 years & clean now since 2012 & now my son who is 29 is addicted to heroin. I pray for him. It's hard because I know what it is. I'm praying for your son & you as well. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Only God can set him free. Never judge, never criticize, never put him down. Be there & pray.❤🙏
Glad to hear you're making it happen, stay strong throughout your battle. Im trying to sort out how im going to beat this addiction, i know I'll have to learn how to live again too. Its somewhat of a frightening realization
Then listen to it over and over and over Andy! Listen to it every single time you want to pick up! And pray, cry out to God to save you from the demons who wish nothing more than to destroy your very soul. They will take your body, your mind, and everything they can but with GOD, all things are possible.
hey man i know how you feel. currrently waiting onhsomethign myself and this withdrawal is hell. nobody sees the dark side caus enobody goes out durringit
Im only 16 and have been watching my own brother suffer from crystal meth addiction, please make the change it hurts others around you not only yourself...i miss my brother and i wish he never felt into this spiral of addiction, meth has completely changed him he isnt himself anymore. Today he was taken by police because he tried killing himself and had cuts all over his wrists
Andy, you can get out dear. Seek help. Don't Cold Turkey. Don't hesitate to talk. There are million ex heroin addicts, waiting for a chance to help others from committing the mistake they did. You just ask for help, pal. Walk away while you can. Take care!
Bro, as soon as I read your last sentence, I lost it .. Methadone/Suboxone saved me .. It's not for everyone , I'm not saying its a cure, i'm not saying its a miracle drug . What I can say , is that suboxone gave me my life back man .. You will be ok hommie .. If you ever need anything hit me up , i'm old and don't have a fuckin clue how to send messages on here but I'm sure you're all over that shit .. I know the comment was a year ago , I hope youre doing ok .. I'm not sure why it hit me like that when I read " I just want to be okay" .... I get it trust me ..
New respect to Johnny Cash tonight . I watched this and "When Uncle Bill quit dope" both songs that I never heard until tonight when I happened to be in the mood to watch Johnny Cash's Hurt. Sometimes getting lost on You-tube is a good thing
Thank God for men like Mr. Cash who went through it and wasn't afraid to address it. In this generation and several before it we hid the horrible things that bring us down. I'm not saying we should celebrate the monster on the corner, but for our own children's sake don't act like it's not there.
5 years clean, quit young too. 28 now, still have a chance to live my life. Il never see who I could have been had trauma and sorrow didn't swallow me as a kid. However I'm excited to see who I can become now that I'm free.
I cry my eyes out every time I hear this song because unless you've been through it, you have no earthly idea.... I pray every night that my son will not ever know the horrors of drug addiction. He is my heart and soul and to even think about him going through what I did to get clean scares the shit out of me... him being born literally saved my life so I pray I can return the favor and save his by telling him the truth when he's old enough to understand.... God bless anyone reading this going thru it.... I've been there and know what you are feeling!!!

so true that's why I don't like counselors that have never been there and did that and doctors that don't know what they're talking about I was a heroin addict I'm clean off heroin since 1997 thank God ,🙏🏽🙏🏽 when I went to jail I was having withdrawals and they lasted 9 weeks believe it or not but the doctor said I must have something in there if I was still sick I told the doctor you never been there you never did it if I had some I wouldn't be this sick learn you supposed to be a doctor supposed to know this stuff
@@jacquelinegongora216 big facts right there. Anyone tells you the withdrawal from H is short, it’s intense but if you can get thru a week you be ok…. They full of shit. That Jones you feel for a LONG TIME afterwards they tell ya oh that just the mental addiction the physical withdrawals are over… yeah ok. Anybody been thru it knows that mental afterwards is so strong it presents itself as physical symptoms!! If I’m keepin it a buck, I’ve been clean for over 10 years and there are still little things, triggers… a bent spoon, a piece of paper folded like a pack… still wets my appetite and I have absolutely no desire to ever do it again… MENTALLY!!! PHYSICALLY, it’s an involuntary response. So you are spot on, these hacks that never rode that pony have no fukn clue and never will.💯💯💪🏻💪🏻
The soul of an addict is as sick as his body and mind, every day l pray for the still suffering addict. Opiate withdrawal is a terrible thing to go through.
And such an overwhelming pride fills one, when going through the countless addicts who've recovered especially from H and other Opiates in the comments section. I can't stop upvoting! :D
Jennifer Reesor Congrats Jennifer :) keep it up no one wants to go back to that shithole of a 'life' we had back then. Constantly worrying about getting sick n who ur gunna have to finesse or rob.... Its a hard knock life. :P
I play this video every so often to remind me when I get tempted to use that it simply isn't worth it. 5 years and counting since I put away the pills. I ate prescription pain killers and speeders like they were PEZ candy for MANY years, then would need a ton of downers to bring me down after flying high without sleep for days at a time. I'm lucky to even be alive and still have some of my intellect remaining intact after what I put my body through. The world needs more men like Johnny Cash in the spotlight today speaking out about the unimaginable cycle of horror so many of us were or are trapped in. There is a way out... it isn't easy, but there is hope!! There are people out there who care and know what you are going through to help you obtain that seemingly unattainable ticket to freedom.
Thank you for sharing part of your journey! I've been clean from opiates and cocaine since 5/1/17.. It's not as long as you, but for me it's huge! It's definitely the most difficult thing I've gone through..but it's without a doubt the most beautiful and rewarding journey. Thanks again for your words, it gave me hope. 💛💜💙💚
johnny cash saved my life twice. and I built a new life with johnny always playing, always preaching though my lifes trials,,,, like I said, his music and writings are very dear to my heart, and the constant struggle with the devils. clean since 2007. second time
It doesn't only have to be narcotics for one to understand the misery. An addiction is an addiction. ANY addiction is painful and a heart tearing misery indeed.
@@isped74 Ohhh Honey! I'm so sorry. So VERY sorry. My son's little bro has been a great inspiration to him. 13! Find a way to make it a celebration still - in her memory.
If you see someone struggling from addiction please reach out. It's the worst war in which we fight with. It's worse than any nuclear wars you hear abt on the news. Find faith in God and pray everyday for strength. NEVER GIVE UP even if you relapse.. drug addiction has no cure no matter how many years clean you always risk that one chance of falling into temptation. I never thought I'd touch a needle again after years of sobriety and I had one moment of bad judgement bc I was drunk and I'm back at Rock bottom. But God forgives all sin if you repent. Trust in God and always believe in yourself. To all recovering addicts- NEVER GIVE UP NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU RELAPSE YOU ARE NOT A PIECE OF SHIT. YOU DO MATTER! don't let ANYONE belittle you or tell you otherwise. GOD BLESS!
I love the way you put that! Do true that we're still people, druggie or not! We deserve kindness, dignity, love, and the basics in life!! We are worthy! And we're not pieces of crap! If only the people who judge us, and criticize us, and belittle us could see that we're still human, and we deserve a life just like everyone else!! I also sometimes remind myself of a George Jones song, "The only thing different in sinners an saints. One is forgiven and the other one ain't !" May God bless you in whatever you do!!
Welcoming misery …the needle is warm …the coldness and darkness -this man moves my soul and burns through my brain I agree truer words have never been spoken or sung with such inflection
THIS MAN!!!! GOD BLESS HIM Thank you for showing this blindsided world just how a few words, a few minute's can save SO MANY SOULS FROM ETERNAL HELL AND THIS HELL ON EARTH THAT MAN HAS CREATED
HistoryHunter good luck and may God bless u with the wisdom to carry on clean and free as a bird in flight soaring above the clouds in the light of daybreak.
Yes you can do it I have seen so many I love struggle and some have lost and some have won I will pray you are a win and let you have peace and be free from this evil . In my prayers. Stay strong and talk to someone you are not alone..
I have been clean 12 years and recently found a bag of shard. Wasnt a good time. I threw it in a fire. If anyone, needs to talk ANYTIME, my notifications are on and I will be glad to send my number to you privately. If more people helped and cared insted of saying its thier own fault, more poeple would be free.
Been clean almost 2 years. Thank the good Lord for saving me. 17 years as a needle junkie, hard core as it gets. I've made it to 52 by the grace of God. Anyone that is in that position, I strongly urge you to ask God for strength and support. Because my friend, at the end of the day he's the reason you are still here. Prayers to all.
God bless you im 24 years old and suffered from addiction to oxycodone im sure it's no measure to your suffering but though i dont know you i love you and pray for you. I've been clean 5 years. Stay strong. Love you.
God bless all who struggle with this devastating disease. Sending my love and prayers to all of you! Keep fighting and looking forward! It's worth it! 🙏
I need people's prayers because honestly I can't see my life without drugs. I don't feel normal anymore unless I'm high or doped up on something. it's maddening. it's becoming more work to stay high then to get high. when I heard this song I burst into tears because I relate to it so much. It's like this song was written about me even though it's not.
Becky listen.. I know exactly what your talking about . I NEVER felt correct unless I was eating Benzos and after my motorcycle crashes I started on Percodan & Demerol then straight up Harlem Dope , I was out there for 20 yr until one day in 2000 I just couldn't get off the Metro North train when the train doors opened at 125 ST , I been in the program ever since .. Yes I started in the Methadone program and was on it 3 yrs until I got on Suboxone I been clean & illegal drug free since ..You can get clean .. and still have a life , I promise you...
Rebecca may your mind and heart and lovely person find the love that God has shed for you and I. The love we seek from others and from the pin pricks and the things from the medicines that overtake but are always there no matter when we need them. They're nothing to the arm of the Lord who is mighty to Save and He will save to all who call on his name while He can be found.
"I don't feel normal anymore unless I'm high or doped up on something." Because you`re body especially the brain got used to it. Try to find out what let you take it in the first place. Is there a pain you want to cover? What could bring you joy or make you happy besides getting high? Have you done some sports in the past? The truth is: real life won`t bring you the same distilled enjoyment but it can be beautiful! Hope you`re doing good!
First time listening to this song. I love the man in black. This made me cry before the song was over.... He is so bold and insightful and knows that he can save at least one... Thank you for always having treasures for me to find.
It's easy to admire men like Johnny cash, irreplaceable. I just had 5 years clean from alcohol and drugs. Mike ness and Johnny cash got me through my first year
I'm a junky, and I ask God for deliverance from it every day, and I know someday I'll be cured, and all those I know will too !! The Lord can and will, all you have to be is sincere when you ask Him !! AMEN !!
rightpatch1 I prayed for years before I was delivered. It's been 14 years since the Lord delivered me. And He left it up to me to stay that way. I had to do my part....
rightpatch1 I to was am an addict. My prayers were answered. There is a road out of hell. You just have to take that first step. Its a long journey. But in the end its so worth it !!! 18 months and 8 days free from the bonds of Heroin. Fight brother. Peace$
Every single word of this song is so true...My daughter is addicted, and listening to this make me think of her. I pray the Lord every day to help her and to make an instrument of me to lead her out of her demons. All young men and women, and less young too, should listen carefully to these lines, in order to avoid the pain and desperation this stuff brings. Citing mr. Cash, even if this song will contribute to save a single soul, it would have been worthwhile. He was so courageous to say this in television back in the '70s. Who else could be like him today? Let's all pray Our Heavenly Father, brothers and sisters. Amen
After losing my father to a drug overdose in 2010, I finally decided to get clean myself. It was a long battle, but I have close to 5 years now. His music is so powerful because most of what he sang came from personal experience. God bless all of those who are currently fighting the battle with addiction. I promise you, the sickness won't last forever.
25 years on methadone, can't imagine putting my self through the pain of withdrawal but i'm 45 now so i have that tapping on my heart that won't go away, reminding me I've been pinned down to one town for all this time just to collect that script.
As an alcoholic who spends too much of his free time pounding down beers, I definitely relate to this song. Johnny may have been talking about other substances, but alcohol can cause just as much pain; when the hangover inevitably hits after a multi-day binge, the recovery period can leave you practically non-functional.
Yes I understand. I shot pills for 12 years, I'm on methadone now. Now I drink a pint of rum and 2 litres of wine a day. If I don't get it I am completely non functional. I have to drink through a straw my shakes or so bad. I sometimes I feel like killing my self. I hate my life.
@@catc1566 There is hope, I've been clean & sober for 33 years. It was a hard look at myself and Narcotic Anonymous Meetings. The 12 Steps work my friend, but most people need to hit bottom, you sound like you're just about there
Love you MR CASH. MISS YOU. YOU BROUGHT MANY FLICKERS OF LIGHT. YOU MIGHT NOT OF KNOWN IT THEN BUT I HOPE YOU KNOW IT NOW. THOSE WHO LIVED THROUGH THE DARKEST DAYS ARE THE ONES WHO KNOW HOW TO BRING A FLICKER OF LIGHT
amazing that they put that on in 1971..... i didn't have tv at that time but i am still surprised he got away with straight talk. Listen to your spirit within.. It will guide you.
That's good thing your kid's call you Dad, Crack Cocàine is a hard drug to get off of!! I have done got help a couple of times myself and third Time was the charm!! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other keep your head up, you can do it! You have to good reasons to do it for!!
My Daddy, Tim Irvin, left us 10/19/2016. He fought his demons but in the end, he just couldn't do it anymore. I miss him so much. I just wish he would know all the love I carry in my heart for him everyday. My love wasn't enough, but I hope he knows it comes with no condition. It's okay Daddy, find peace. We miss you
it is not that your love wasn't enough. the pull and sickness of chemicals or alcohol is so painful to go against, no amount of love can keep you from your master when you feel that sick. ya have to be so done with it, before it kills you or it wins. and it's got nothing to do with how strong someone is either... I'm sure he loved you more than he coukd ever love anything in the world. it's a sickness, not much different from other illnesses. it doesn't take away the love they have for their family ect. usually it's a lack of love for themselves..
God bless Johnny Cash! I have been in recovery from crack and heroin since 2004,alcohol since 2011. It was the hardest thing I had to do , but it was the best thing I did !
Judy Carlock This post is full, so I am replying here because its the only place! I just wanted to say that most people on here that use the name of God are Christians. I am a Christian, worked as a drug counselor at a methadone clinic 1st job out of college. Now I am detoxing the 9th time off methadone! When you know the drug scene on the streets, reality, you don't turn to Buddah or Allah. No, Jesus understands and heals, and forgives.
This song's message rings with more truth now then it did back then. More people getting strung as we listen. Ifya ain't an addict I'd lay money on that you don't have to go very far in your family to find one of us addicts. I send out now a Healing Vibe and Prayer for those out there now living in madness and the babies who were born addicted. Love and Light friends and family
Lost the best friend I've ever known to a heroin addiction last December shortly after getting clean myself... This makes my heart ache. He wanted his mind to be free, and the rest of him went away too. I miss you And love you, Ryan.
Hang in there, my dear. What our job is now, is to make sure that we are there for anyone who may need us. Ya know? What I do is I find a piece of music that fits to a specific person , and the troubles that they are facing at the time that I come into their life, and it is the most incredible and rewarding experience to be able to present someone with a song that is so perfect and so powerful for them that they cry their eyes out because it touches their soul. Along with being able to give someone my attention so that they can unleash all the burdens and pain , that is what we must do for our other fellow ( soldiers of addiction) Anyways, check out these couple songs(both Ben Harper songs) and get back to me and let me know what you thought and if you are needing to talk to anyone (anytime please dont hesitate , ok? ) R.I.P to Ryan ..... Artist : Ben Harper Song: I Shall Not Walk Alone & Waiting On An Angel
I'm so sorry, dear. I have a daughter who has been addicted for 5 years now. I can barely breathe most of the time I'm so worried. How terrible to actually kick it and then lose someone. I'm praying for you. Stay well, stay strong. May God be a ring of fire around you and surround you with His Mighty grace. In Jesus Name, Amen.
This video should be played at epidemic proportions ! So the world can have an idea what’s going on in the mind of an addict! Thanks so much Johnny for everything you’ve given us! May god bless your soul! ❤️💋🙏
Johnny Cash beautifully done! The world needs more support less criticism. Rest in Peace amazing man along with your beautiful wife. Said with full respect
I give Johnny Cash a lot of credit. He has a lot of power to persuade people because of who he is and his past. I think it is wonderful that he is doing this. I feel for the people who are addicted. I lost a couple of friends. I never did street drugs or was addicted to pain meds. But I knew people who were. I don't want anyone to die. I want them to live. Thank goodness for celebrities who do good things for people, because there are so many that want people to sin and do things that hurt themselves and others. I praise God for people like Johnny Cash. I know he has a place in heaven for all the good he has done.
This man has sang about the lives of free, imprisoned, addicted, veteran and holy men. A true American idol. R. I. P. Johnny
and he's BEEN each of these things too, I believe. :D He will always be an example to the world in so many ways. rip jc
Yet look how they treated him!!! Even to this day, they call it "the opioid epidemic" ..still NO 1 HAS SANG 1 SONG TO REACH the young kids, adults to help them. They condemmend this man, HE NNEDED A MEDAL!!

His wearing of black wasn't for the purpose of being down n all; it was a commemorative kind of thing...in honor of.... well, go listen & or read it! :D

Some people might think Johnny was hypocritical for singing such a song but he walked that line and was in that ring of fire so how could he not.
Amen

Amen my friend!
Y'done got my respect f'what y'done.
Gosh truly truly hope you make it
I’ll take being sober any day over being an alcoholic and IV heroin user right out of high school. Though I do sometimes think of heroin as an ex lover I can’t believe is gone . Then I remember she is gone for good for a reason.

Johnny lived it, he knows what he's singing about. That's what makes it authentic.
I know where he's coming from
You're right...I myself lived through the hell that addiction is for over 9 years..but I was able to get my life back from the pills with the love of my family and friends...real friends that is...

This is to "I'm in hell", I don't know you or pretend to know your situation, but I do know addiction(long time addict to pain pills and coke) and I also know the pain from losing my best friend to suicide many years ago(Dec 1998). It will pass and when it does, you'll see that you've got so much to offer. Don't rob this world of the greatness you can become or the originality you can create.

Honestly I never knew Johnny sang this. REST IN PEACE ✌️🕊️🙏🙏🙏💐🕊️🕊️🕊️
New respect to Johnny Cash tonight . I watched this and "When Uncle Bill quit dope" both songs that I never heard until tonight when I happened to be in the mood to watch Johnny Cash's Hurt. Sometimes getting lost on You-tube is a good thing
Doing the exact thing myself. Started with "Hurt", too. Peace.
Yes it quite is indeed.....
Just found this video myself..wow.
I love music its my therapy but i thought i heard every Johnny cash song this is fucking class
Hurt brought me here too and yea one of the few times getting sucked into UA-cam paid off...but UA-cam can also take u down some dark roads quick
I admire Johnny so much because he’s willing to admit his demons.
Well done. Unfortunately, my brother paid the ultimate price and I miss him dearly. Good luck for the future, I wish you happiness and success.

Lee Spinks im a recovering addict...been sober for almost six yrs since july 13 2012. I dont regret it...it made me who i am today
I made it off the needle you can do it !! 11 yrs down °°°
Michael Scott same here recovering oxycontin addict and yeah it definitely turns us into better people
Jennifer Reesor Congrats Jennifer :) keep it up no one wants to go back to that shithole of a 'life' we had back then.
Yes. YES. Fucking YES!
KLUNKET I hear you bro
Thank you for sharing part of your journey! I've been clean from opiates and cocaine since 5/1/17.. It's not as long as you, but for me it's huge! It's definitely the most difficult thing I've gone through..but it's without a doubt the most beautiful and rewarding journey. Thanks again for your words, it gave me hope. 💛💜💙💚

Unless you have been addicted to narcotics you will never understand that misery...
exacially
Thanjs Jerry couldnt of said it any better
So right ,I went on pain meds ,and then I understould my son
God bless and fight for your life
It doesn't only have to be narcotics for one to understand the misery. An addiction is an addiction. ANY addiction is painful and a heart tearing misery indeed.
Johnnys tv show was so radical back then he really pushed the boundaries Great man Never be anyone close to him

GOD BLESS!
"YOU ARE NOT A PIECE OF SHIT. YOU DO MATTER!"
Amen
Welcoming misery …the needle is warm …the coldness and darkness -this man moves my soul and burns through my brain I agree truer words have never been spoken or sung with such inflection
THIS MAN!!!!
GOD BLESS HIM
Thank you for showing this blindsided world just how a few words, a few minute's can save SO MANY SOULS FROM ETERNAL HELL AND THIS HELL ON EARTH THAT MAN HAS CREATED
Just know YOU ARE NOT ALONE, OTHERS ARE FIGHTING THE SAME BATTLES... WE CAN DO THIS

But it is Rebecca 💚☘Hope you are doing well LOVE from DUBLIN IRELAND 💚 ✊ ☘ 🍀 🙏💪

"I don't feel normal anymore unless I'm high or doped up on something."
Because you`re body especially the brain got used to it.
Peace$
How are u doing now?
Please don't give up I prayed for 10 years and He saved me and I don't even think about it anymore. It's GONE. Don't stop praying!!!
what a great song you can tell he is singing this from the depth of his soul.
"You're Free Now" my beloved Johnny Cash RIP ........
3 years off heroin and I'm so grateful for it everyday 👊 don't give up hope! You can do it with gods sweet grace and love🙏
25 years on methadone, can't imagine putting my self through the pain of withdrawal but i'm 45 now so i have that tapping on my heart that won't go away, reminding me I've been pinned down to one town for all this time just to collect that script.
I feel your pain! Stay strong.
One day you'll cut that umbilical cord.
As an alcoholic who spends too much of his free time pounding down beers, I definitely relate to this song. Johnny may have been talking about other substances, but alcohol can cause just as much pain; when the hangover inevitably hits after a multi-day binge, the recovery period can leave you practically non-functional.
Alcohol IS a drug
Yes I understand. I shot pills for 12 years, I'm on methadone now. Now I drink a pint of rum and 2 litres of wine a day. If I don't get it I am completely non functional. I have to drink through a straw my shakes or so bad. I sometimes I feel like killing my self. I hate my life.

Brian, I hope you are clean and your kids are still in your life, they are more important than ANYTHING in this world.
We miss you
😢
it is not that your love wasn't enough. the pull and sickness of chemicals or alcohol is so painful to go against, no amount of love can keep you from your master when you feel that sick. ya have to be so done with it, before it kills you or it wins. and it's got nothing to do with how strong someone is either... I'm sure he loved you more than he coukd ever love anything in the world. it's a sickness, not much different from other illnesses. it doesn't take away the love they have for their family ect. usually it's a lack of love for themselves..
God bless you johnny I know you speak from the heart the man in black may you rest in heaven

Hey how are you doing today..?
I give Johnny Cash a lot of credit. He has a lot of power to persuade people because of who he is and his past. I think it is wonderful that he is doing this. I feel for the people who are addicted. I lost a couple of friends. I never did street drugs or was addicted to pain meds. But I knew people who were. I don't want anyone to die. I want them to live. Thank goodness for celebrities who do good things for people, because there are so many that want people to sin and do things that hurt themselves and others. I praise God for people like Johnny Cash. I know he has a place in heaven for all the good he has done.
