@@绿蛤蟆呱呱呱 I don't agree with your viewpoint. As a Chinese living in Canada, I don't have to worry about my car being stolen in China because even if it's stolen, it's difficult to sell or transport these cars. But in Canada, I'm afraid to buy a new car because I worry that this new car might bring me danger. Welcome! As a Chinese studying in US, I rly love seeing ppl from other countries exploring in my country~ For cities to experience rich cultures I definitely recommend Chengdu.
Don't mean to sound critical but it really rubs me the wrong way when i hear westerners expecting everyone to know english everwhere they go, maybe learn a little bit of the language you are visiting? I don't think most chinese tourists visitng western countires expect the locals to speak mandarin...though technically it is the most spoken language in the world
Yeah we appreciate that and we definitely didn't expect people to speak english we are simply 'reporting' or sharing on our experience to give others an idea of what to expect. We are both english tutors to students all around the world. We do also travel a lot like 14 countries last year for example so it can be a challenge for us to keep up with all of the languages. But fair point! Thanks for watching and commenting with respect.
at least they both say 谢谢, and used it right, most Chinese won't expect more than that. just maybe later, try to say another usefule daily greeting word 你好, it can be used whenever you meet someone in a day. Enjoy your adventures in China.

China is a big and diverse country. It is admirable that their government can keep 1.4 Billion people well fed and happy, while maintaining the order and infrastructure so well.
Yes we decided to stay in the outer areas versus staying in the busy center. It is beautiful we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for watching we have more videos to come!
Shanghai metropolitan includes Puxi and Pudong, in between is Huangpu river. Pu is the ancient name of the area means “port”, and Xi means west and dong means East. City center is in Puxi, Pudong used to be agriculture farming area and later developed to be residential, industrial and business in late 1990. Puxi is the more mature and a lot more expensive area, sort of like Long Island vs. Manhattan. Based on what I heard in the video, they stayed in Pudong, hence few tall buildings and less busy. So technically they are in suburban area of Shanghai, not tourist view of Shanghai.
@@ALWH1314 Thank you for explaining and yes that is correct. We didn't want to go into the busy center as we have seen a lot of that and we wanted to have more of a local experience. But is a great place to stay if you want to visit city center of Shanghai and also visit Disneyland etc
@@JennandLeon Even when you reach the city center, you can still discover places that are different from many other cities in other countries... Wishing you a pleasant journey!
Oh! The urban environment is very clean, the hotel style is very warm and relaxed, and there is also a lot of food. Your trip to China must be very enjoyable!!
Mate, I've been to China. Have fun, and enjoy the most amazing City on the planet. It is the safest country I've been to and the citizens are extremely helpful. It's sad to see how much fear USA and the West has put into people about China (if you want to experience fear, try USA's New York City or LA. You have to be careful where you go).
Yes we agree, that's why we titled it as we did to create conversation and awareness. We personally were only concerned/curious about our visa situations and the surveillance aspect but we discuss a lot of these issues in our next video while enjoying some yummy food. Thanks for watching!
@@JennandLeon By the way, they're not Surveillance cameras, they're Security cameras. That's just the word USA throws around to create fear. I believe there are more Security Cameras in England. I love the Security Cameras ... it you've got nothing to hide, its not an issue. I'm a white Aussie male and I could leave my stuff on the restaurant table, go order my food, and come back with all my stuff still there. In Paris at the Eiffel Tower, I was pick pocketed within a few days touring. In Greece, (my cultural country), I was pick pocketed at the Acropolis. In NYC (USA) I was pick pocketed. There is no way I'd leave my stuff unattended in an EU country, UK or USA.
Love the hotel you stayed in this video. Wow the sky is so clear. That sunset shot is so beautiful. The air quality is so much better than it was 15 years ago when I was there for the first time. The city looks so much prettier when the sky is clear and air is fresh. The air quality there is better than it is in LA.
Yes we stayed out of the city center as well so we can't comment on how it would look there but we loved the area we stayed in. We will show more of it in our video tomorrow. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. We appreciate it.
Yes, you are right, Chinese gov invested quite a lot effort in improving the air/water quality in last ten years, now we can see blue sky and clear water with fish almost everywhere. Welcome come back , you can see a brand new China.
Yes we were really impressed by the hotel. It really reminded us of Tulum in Mexico actually. The staff was really nice. We loved being in a more local area rather than the busy often seen downtown Shanghai area. Thanks for watching.
Oh wonderful. Thank you we have 3 videos from our time in Hong Kong if you'd like to watch those as well! We really enjoyed Hong Kong. We went to the Wine and Dine Festival last year!
Since you guys only have 24 hours in Shanghai, you'd better live in the city center. I assume your hotel location 30 years ago was countryside. Shanghai city center is much better.
Yes we plan to explore there next. We enjoyed the quiet more rural and local area. It was perfect for what we wanted and the time we had. We also came off of a very busy 2 weeks of travel prior so it was a nice way to celebrate my birthday.

If it's still relevant: you might like to take the maglev super high speed train from the airport into the city just for the experience and a quick look around. If you want to see more of the city maybe use the metro to visit the Bund, a very popular tourist spot.
You guys look so paranoid, it makes expat in China so upset how the western media is doing to this beautiful country. Relax take it easy and enjoy China.
There are so many YT vloggers that have been to China and raved about China. Before visiting China, I think they have done some homework by watching some of those vlogs. If not, then it's no surprise. But if so, I guess they say so to cater to Western audiences.
Yes we weren't paranoid about the country but more so apprehensive about the short stay visa process and the surveillance aspects. Also the ease of being able to use our cell phones/internet and also to withdraw money and use our cards etc. We tutor many people from China so we were pretty confident on what to expect BUT you never know until you are there with your own eyes right?
@@JennandLeonWhen talking about surveillance, don’t you know which city has the most surveillance cameras? LONDON! And do you know which country is the most safest place on this earth? China! This 144 hour visa free visit to China has given foreign tourists a chance to open their eyes and see the world. Foreign tourists have lifted the blindfold covered by Western media and discovered the beauty and vastness of China.
It was a white duck, obviously domesticated and not afraid of people. It could be someone's pet; it could also be a food ingredient that escaped from a restaurant (Chinese people like to eat animals killed alive, such as fish, shrimp, crabs, chickens, ducks, and geeseto indicate that the food is fresh). Australia and Canada also sell live lobsters to China.

Hi Jean , I notice you are Canadian, so am I, may I ask do you need visa travel to China, is the new 144 hours visa-free transit works for the people from Canada ?
Hi. Yes it works for Canadians but there are a few restrictions. You need to have a onward going lay over - for example you must fly in from one country - like Canada but fly out of China to a third country like Thailand - so it’s a transit visa, even if you book the flights separately it’s fine. Also you must choose one of the regions / areas available and fly in and out of that region and you must stay visiting only within the restricted areas of that region. For example Shanghai and Xi’An are both available areas but you cannot travel between them you must stay in the designated areas each visit. Or you can apply for a tourist visa to visit more areas of China. Hope that helps!
@@JennandLeon Thank you for your quick reply, totally understand, I think me and my family need to get a visa, we want to visit more places in China, Thank you so much
Yes we know that. We did not want to go downtown Shanghai. We were thinking about going to the center but we like to visit more local communities more.
But from July 1st Australian,New Zealander and polish citizen no need apply China visa can enter to China trip visa free for 15 days after 12 European countries (France, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Netherlands and Georgia), Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand no need visa enter to China.

We love animals and we don’t eat dogs or cats😂I just watched another British UA-camr said Chinese people all eat dogs. OMG! What kind of information you guys got from the western media 😅
happy belated birthday !! im glad you got to celebrate it on an amazing trip :) i too will be taking China Eastern Airlines and is planning to do the 144 hour visa-free transit as well. I did read up on the gov website stating that the policy is that you must present your departure (connecting flight from Shanghai to the next country) boarding pass with confirmed seat number to the Chinese Immigration official. My question is, did China Eastern Airlines print all your boarding passes (for your flight to China and then your flight from China to the next country) at the airport before your boarded the plane bound for China? Or did you notify the airline days in advance that you will be opting for the 144 hour visa-free transit and they gave you the tickets beforehand? Thank you!
Hi there. Usually when you are boarding to fly to China they will ask you about your visa situation. You can also visit China with 2 separately booked tickets as long as you are going onto a third country. You must show proof of this. You can ask the airline prior to boarding but I'm pretty sure we just showed them our onward ticket / flight out on my phone and that was acceptable. They do ask for confirmation of where you will be staying as well! I hope you have a wonderful trip!
@@JennandLeon thank you for your response, how about when you arrived at China airport, you showed the Immigration official your flight reservation out on your phone and that sufficed? I’m just worried they want the actual boarding pass and not just your onward flight info off your phone screen. Thank you again!
@@AJadventures88 It’s best to be safe and print off what you can or ask the boarding airline to print some kind of paperwork for you and they should! They are usually very good about that!
If you have seen the famous novelist Mark Twain in the last century, and his short story "Campaign Governor", you will be less confused about the current situation. Just like the performance in the novel. In the process of competition, if anyone feels that he can't compete with his opponents. Try to spill dirty water for the other person, slander the other person's character with lies. Even spending money to find a group of children with different skin colors appeared on the stage of the opponent's campaign, letting those children call him "dad" at the competitors. In order to slander the other party's private life chaos. This is the manifestation of vicious competition. Healthy competition should work hard to improve yourself and surpass each other. Instead of trying to drag the opponent's pants, let the other party go forward. This is also what the United States has been doing in the past and now, trying to do everything to sanction China. Just to slow down China's development. The United States has never thought of saving the money spent on foreign wars to improve the life of the American people. Improve that bad infrastructure construction. I know the cost of employment in the United States is expensive, but I believe that the United States has not launched wars for five consecutive years, does not help the foreign war, and saves all the money to develop domestic construction. Promote medical insurance, increase employment positions, and increase national welfare benefits. Increase work hourly salary. The status quo of the life of the American people is definitely much better than now.

transit vice transfer.
Yes many country visitors can get a transit visa for up to 5 days in select cities. We have a lot more information on our website.
You could use a translation app with OCR. It helps with communication and reading menus etc. for other places other than Shanghai.

Wow, this is Shanghai ? Such a beautiful place! Hope you enjoy your stay in China!

I think it's okay to feel this way, especially on the first day. Western media has corrupted the minds of so many people.

Hope that helps!

i too will be taking China Eastern Airlines and is planning to do the 144 hour visa-free transit as well.
The status quo of the life of the American people is definitely much better than now.
have a good time

There are countless videos with similar titles, words, and thumbnails I found like 14 variations after reading the previous comments....you'd think we are all Travel UA-camrs or something...?
