My question is; why do I have to be fat, unemployed, broke with mental health issues to be taken seriously by any doctor both VA or civilian?
I’ve been in chronic pain for over a decade but I like food and electricity in my house. I walk and do resistance exercises to try to stay in shape, eat healthy with no inflammatory foods.
I do not have any PTSD, depression or anxiety.
Imagine your worse day after a total body gym workout and that’s what I feel like everyday.
This explains what I have been dealing with since the 90s...
You said something very interesting about endometriosis, my wife is waiting a BVA decision for gulf war related menstrual disorder which was filed in 2011. She fits exactly what you were saying as she had a Caesarean while on active duty as well as a gulf war vet. We are waiting the BVA decision at this moment, her hearing was August 2019.
You both are awesome! Thank you so much because I truly needed this help!!!!
Thank you so much for explaining this very complex topic. This was super helpful!
They gave me 50% adjustment disorder with anxiety and depression mood chronic and another 60% for my back I reapplied for tdiu I feel I will get it this time
That's actually what I'm going for. Good luck
Thank you so much for this video and blessings to all of you that do recognized me and my military family and you care about us. God bless you all
Thank you.
Great info. I hurt my knee at Ft. Hood they awarded me a 10% rating for my left knee so from 83 to 2020 that's all that was awarded until I start seeing videos like this one helping me to go forward in a higher rating I have back, neck and my right leg with chronic pain even never damage to my hand's feet and legs, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I just found your page, and I'm watching every video. This is fantastic!
Orlando VA is very hard to work with. Getting an exam is very hard. They also won't complete a DBQ, medical statement, or Nexus letter as required by VHA directive 1134. My civilian doctors are great. They also respect my privacy.
This would make a great trailer for a new movie called, Battlestar Sciatica.
Seriously though, thank you very much for another great overview of how pain is a valid complaint when it comes to va disability claims.
I wish I had someone like you ladies to help me.
You mentioned headaches. I used to get bad migraines, then I stop eating food with MSG. Problem solved. Now if I feel suddenly sick, I find its got something to do with ingredients in processed food. I need to force myself to vomit out the poison. About 24 hours later, I feel better. I told the VA I have gone though this and they only said they can't do anything to help unless I come in while I'm sick. Yeah, right.
You guys have a BEAUTIFUL view!😍
This describes me right now. I can’t believe I haven’t seen this before today. I just went in for my C&P for my back issues that I’ve had documented since 2012. My Back hasn’t stopped hurting since after surgery. I’ve done PT, tens units, injections, and chiropractors. Nothing helps. It’s all masks my back problem.
What was the outcome?
Thank you for the info….
I have chronic back pain and disability on that. Now, had siatica in my back and been out of work for 2 months. Filled for PTSD and denyied twice. I have depression and anxiety and take meds from the VA.
Are you trying to file yourself or are you working with a lawyer? I tried filing myself initially, went in blind, got denied. Then got a lawyer to help me. The big thing is knowing rating requirements so you know how to explain your symptoms in language they understand. The second is being vulnerable.. this is NOT the time to be a tough guy, suck it up, and put on a good show. They cannot accurately rate or approve you if they dont have a clear picture of what your day to day life is. You also need a diagnosis and a record of showing attempts to get treatment. Buddy letters either from fellow service members and or family members, co workers, friends explaining how they see this affecting your life on a daily basis all weigh in.
This describes me to a tee. Just started the VA process after 3 decades of living with pain and depression. Very helpful. Will be in contact soon.
How did the process work out for you?
@@honor4thoseb471 Not too good so far. I find the process very hard to navigate with lots of dead ends so far. But I will continue to press forward because I believe in what I am doing.
Thank you so much ❤️ I lot of body pain.Fibromyalgia 😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
this is chronic pain, depression seems to go hand in hand
~try baking soda and or garlic for gerd. The drugs are not good for your brain. Also lithium OROTATE for anxiety, depression. Only takes a Safe 5mgs -not the 100s of mgs bc they’re hoping Something will pass brain barrier (also don’t let anyone be sticking anything up your nose even Close! To your brain..(covid..) THERES a Reason for the brain barrier. Bc it’s Orotate it takes only the safe, over the counter available, not have to be monitored by doctors because it’s in the 100s of milligrams. Manganese, etc OROTATEs as well. 👍🏾
That's Lake Eola in the background, you're local. I didn't know that.
I was told I have chronic pain in my service connected knee. Had 2 operation on it, PT and now injection. None of it is helping. And still suffering with limitations and pain. Now I'm dealing with a proposal for a decrease for the knee. I wear a brace all the time. I have requested to file a claim for chronic pain but can't get anywhere. And suffering from back pain with radio pathology in both legs. Both conditions are getting worse. Getting very frustrating. Wish I could get help.
The last episodes audio is really sounding better...... would you possibly cover how to retrieve military service records when you keep getting messages they don't have them ... Or exist...Big help!
Thank you for your comment. I will give your idea for a video over to our marketing team. Thank you!
Thanks for these great videos. I have had a back condition since 2007 & another finally another back condition granted in 2016 along with Tinnitus and some other conditions, total overall 60% rating. I have chronic insomnia diagnosed, should I pursue insomnia as a secondary to my back pain or Tinnitus? Does one have a better chance than the other of getting approved/granted? Or should I try to get chronic pain diagnosed based on back pain, foot conditions and others?
I applied for chronic pain with SSD (Somatic symptoms disorder) but they rated it with my GERD but not my ankle ? Can I get a denial redacted from my file because it was on the wrong intent to file?
I grew up in Orlando an just noticed lake Eola behind y’all. 😍
Good eye!
Hill and Ponton, P.A. I served in special operations in the army and I notice everything
👍
I m from india.i hv same issue for 19 yrs.what is d solution mam
Thank you for this video. I am in Alabama and I do have wonderful Drs. However they, for the most part don't understand exactly what it is i need or don't want to get involved. Where can I find Drs who understand and know how to help me with the wording of my statements.
What percentage are given for chronic pain?
That's true. I. Feeling like that all the time. I don't want to be here anymore 😪
Every thing you have described for a male disabled marine veteran, I have, been through gulf war, back surgery, major neck surgery, even i.b.s.,, and colitis, still only 90% with v.a. I have been s.s.disability since 2018. How do I get to 100% with the v.a. ? V.a.doctor says, you have had back surgery and neck surgery, your body has been repaired, bullshit, the chronic pain is there, everyday
My suggestion would be to start seeing a mental health doctor through the Va. Then tell the doctor about what is going on with your pain and that it’s causing you severe depression and anxiety, sleep loss and anger issues. That’s what I had to do with mine and it worked. Good luck and I’ll answer any more questions if you have any.
You all are doing God's work!
We thank you so much and we are glad that you are finding the videos informative!
I'm rated at 40% for my back and have a diagnosis for depression. My question is how soon can I file secondary for depression
Great question, David. If you believe your depression is secondary to your service-connected back condition then we typically recommend not waiting. The longer you wait, the more money you're leaving at the VA's table. Best of luck!
I have had chronic neck and upper back pain for many years and getting worse. I've been treated at VA physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor, and massage therapy but only get temporary relief. VA doctor won't diagnose it. Still fighting the system.
can a herniated disc and bulging disc + sciatica be considered as chronic pain? And can it be tied to anxiety?
Yes that would be considered chronic. In my opinion it can also be tied to anxiety, especially if the pain makes the anxiety worse. I. E fear of hurting yourself, social anxiety because of pain, anxiety about condition getting worse and so on
Hello, I am watching your video and it's very educational. I do have claimed for back, knee, uncle injuries after retiring but VA rated a 0 non-service connected though It was documented on my military medical records while on active duty. Though this is already too long, currently I am suffering a severe lower back pain, knee pain, and ankle pain . Can I still reclaim my current back, knee, and ankle pain? Please advise. Please advise.
I had the same thing with my hips. I hurt them playing sports at Bliss in 2018 and they got reaggravated running in 2018. I filed in 2019 and was shot down. I reapplied last week. I have new documentation. If you can get statements or additional information you can refile. Your VSO should advise you. Mine told me that with nothing new for information that the VA would just push them aside.
Contact Veterans Guardian they will help you, they help me and I am at 90% for my first claim.
I have chronic pain from plantar fasciitis, they tried steroids shots every 6 weeks then did shockwave therapy and now I’m scheduled for surgery, I’ve been dealing with this for a year and half now and feel like my life will never be the same anymore. None of the treatments they tried have helped me. How would the VA rate that? I’m still active duty and this is really stressing me out.
Do you need to have a diagnosis for "chronic pain" or can you file stating that due to the service connected injury I have chronic pain which is causing "xyz" secondary conditions?
Depression as a secondary due to pain...
Do i need a nexus or proof from a doctor of my depression???
Hello, I am active duty military and feel like I have depression due to chronic pain in my back. Additionally, I have hip and knee pain. When I speak with my therapist and get the diagnosis what do I need from him/her when submitting my VA claim?
You cant do anything with the VA till after you get out of the service
How would u call sometjing a mood disorder when suffering from chronic nerve pain I have this 8 years feels like been knifed and u feel horrible so depressed with constant chronic pain.
That sounds like a really terrible experience, Reg. Do you have an active claim with the VA for service-connected compensation?
I am absolutely convinced chronic pain is a large factor in why so many veterans take their lives. Of course its not the only reason. But I do believe it is a significant reason. Chronic pain is not only uncomfortable, it is terrifying.
I HAVE CHRONIC PAIN. I HAVE SERVICE CONNECTION, BUT I HAVE BIPOLAR DEPRESSION. I'M AT 30%. I CAN'T WORK. I HAVE BAD ANXIETY DISORDER AS WELL. CAN I INCLUDE THIS IN MY CASE? I HAVE AN ATTORNEY WORKING ON IT.
Im at 30% right now also….Va Guardians are helping me with my Chronic Pain claim now. I suggest you talk to them….they made everything easy so far for me
Can you claim Somatic Symptom Disorder/Chronic Pain Syndrome if you already have 70% for MH?
Can chronic pain cause or contribute to sleep apnea?
It can in an indirect manner - if you've gained weight because of that pain (imagine not being able to walk easily, much less run or exercise) then yes, it contributes to OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). There are also known links from various drugs to connect weight gain as a side effect of the drug, which aggravates OSA. Talk to these ladies or VA claims Insider - they'll get you on track to get it rated for you.
Is chronic insomnia and chronic pain both rated under mental health?
I Have PTSD PLUS INJURIES ACCIDENT 23 YEARS AGO PL;US USDA CRONIC PAIN
Can depression cause back pain ?
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, for an answer for your specific question, we recommend that you consult a medical professional. We hope you are able to find the help that you need.
How can I identify mental issues while in the service and not affect my career? I am depressed most of the time and beer is my medicine. I want to see Behavioral health but it's a career graveyard.
Just go get seen
@@Fiftytwotop5 that's what I did, they got me on a med board. Fukk it i got 100% from it lol
To add to the other reply, (I’m not saying do this, but just to prove that military takes mental health issues seriously), I have a buddy that was constantly being picked on…one day he went to the commander and told him that he felt - not suicidal - but rather, homicidal…if I remember right, within a few short months he was fully separated and received 100% med board
@@davanansalick6126 he got a huge pay raise for life
Whenever I see a VA doctor I complain about the pain to my knee and how it's getting worse. I looked at my medical records and they have never put it in my records. So if I file for chronic pain they'll say it isn't in my records. I think they do that on purpose. I have 10% for each knee and 10% tinnitus, 30% total.
RonMac08 do u have migraines? It can be secondary to tinnitus, I’m at 50% for migraines. If ur already at 10% for knees, it’s unlikely u will get any more. But u can claim Somatic Symptom Disorder or the VA may change it to MDD as they did w me at 70%
Use myhealthevet’s secure message feature to complain, once they reply it should be added as a note to your VA medical file, then you have it documented
You can go to patient advocate & find out steps to have them reevaluate your notes. I understand they never put what you said🤦🏾♀️
Is that your primary reason for the appointment? That might be why they don’t bother. You have to specifically be there with that issue I think. Those twerps put “I have some stress but I can manage” in quotes..I never said that..was literally in there for depression/insomnia. They do just lie or omit. Be careful what you say and stick to ur main problems.
I get triggered quickly by stupidity. I hate being an asshole to nice people. These mood swings are real
Listen up I'll give you the best advice ..tell the freaking truth
The CEO make such dramatic facial expressions. Its annoying and simply fake.
Got in hummvee with bus accident. Was driving hummvee with CSM in Korea and got hit by bus, didn't break any bone but knee, upper, and lower back pain since 1990. Never got any treatment and now pain all the time. VA gave me lower rating till file with lawyers and now 100%.
