    Tip for people still coming to this video. I am rated for chronic back pain so I put in a claim for anxiety secondary to back pain. The ONLY evidence I put in my claim was a written letter. That’s it. I had no medical letters and no mental diagnoses. No therapy. No psychology/psychiatrist visits. After my C&P exam I was rated at 50% for the anxiety and that doesn’t include my other rated disabilities for my back. My point is you don’t have to come up with all of the evidence for a mental condition a lot of times. If you write an honest letter describing what you’ve been going through it is often enough because they don’t take mental issues lightly. Just make sure the letter is extremely well written, heartfelt and be completely honest with your problems.

    Hey how are you? Got question. I am 10% service connected for Tinnitus. At my C& P exam the Doctor told me I have moderate to substantial hearing loss and he advised me to file an additional clam for that. Additionally, I was also diagnosed for Hyperacusis and Migraines and have received Nexus letters for each. So, I just filed for both of them as secondary to my service-connected Tinnitus. Now during my C & P exam for Hearing loss the Doc told me he also said he agrees with my private doc and will rule in favor of me for the Hyperacusis and Migraines but he further said his opinion on the Migraines may not count because usually a C& P exam for Migraines are performed by a Neurologist. I will also be filing secondary claims such as Anxiety and Somatic stress disorder to My Tinnitus, Any thoughts ? Id love to hear your opinion. . Thank u

    I found in my records that a VA doctor placed an active "anxiety disorder" diagnose in my record in 2012 that I did not know about. The doctor prescribed me two depression pills that I eventually had a sedated reaction which is the reason why I stopped taking them. I took them because of my IBS issue. Maybe that's why she prescribed it to me. I have a 30% rating due to IBS. I've had IBS since 2001 when I was in the Army. I guess I could file for anxiety disorder?

    How do you show how your anxiety drove you out of work if you weren't terminated? I can show clearly how it caused one of my terminations and prevents me from driving a CMV now, but even restaurant work I tried I was just too overwhelmed all the time, almost always in a state of panic. If they asked my employer they wouldn't say "oh it was his anxiety causing him to leave" because they didn't get it. I explained multiple times to my bosses and they just don't get it. Is a lay statement enough for that? I already have a 70% rating, got that first time I applied. I'm just afraid that showing all of my short term jobs, diagnosis, and a lay statement from my fiancé isn't going to be enough. If the C&P exam is like my first one, I don't think the questions they asked really showed them how it affects me. I can talk to people about how I feel and explain it well, but I'm afraid they will take that to mean it isn't as severe as it is and deny my claim, since people at or near 100% a lot of times can't or won't talk a lot about it.

    • @HillAndPonton
      @HillAndPonton 3 роки тому +1

      Hi there, legal records could be used to try and establish a mental health claim. Another thing that helps when evidence is scarce, is to have loved ones, such as spouses, family members, long-time friends who knew you before service, to write a statement in support of your claim. They can talk about what you used to be like before service, what they think or know happened, and all of the differences they're seeing now in your mental state. Irritable? Angry? Short temper? Hypervigilant? Used to be life of the party, captain of the football team now doesn't want to see people and can't stand in line at the grocery store. That sort of thing. Real stories like this can really paint a picture and make a difference in a mental health claim.
