I was 30% since I got out in 2007. I just went through the process and was awarded 100%. The key was looking up each item by code BEFORE filing my claim. I made sure the evidence was irrefutable with the verbiage needed to be awarded what I needed and deserved. Had three items in 2007, now I have 9. It was pretty straight forward because I came in prepared. I didn't file and then prepare, which is how many approach this. Good luck everyone!
Can i ask how in the world you managed to get to 100% I am in the process of researching because my feet and ankles are so bad that it even hurts to sit in a chair with the feet on the floor most of the time.
@@toddhill8543 From my experience with the VA you are better off having your own private Doctor's diagnosis and Nexus. The Lawyers can help with that Nexus and DBQ for your particular disability. I just got bumped up to 90 so a HLR teleconference could get me to 100%. I claimed a good amount of things and I feel like I’m still getting the push back for that 100%
@@youlookgreattoday 90 to 100 can be difficult. It matters what various ratings you have and if those cra be increased. Hlr doesn't automatically increase you
What is HLT teleconference? I like you got out in 92 with a rating of 10% in 2014 went to 50% have had other life events happen because of it so now trying to get in creased but hitting a roadblock.
Great video. I'm just starting out, as I just recently found out about Thailand. I had 2 tours at NKP and tdys to Korat and Ubon. I was a Security Police augmented on perimeter and also delivered lighting equipment to the perimeter. I gave up checking on Agent Orange years ago because Thailand was denied even though we saw them spraying it. ( I was just told it was weed killer). I've had three, possibly four of the presumptive conditions for many years and have been unable to work for the last ten. I am very thankful to have found your website and have watched many of your videos. I have been advised by ret. military friend that I should immediately go see a VSO, but from what I've read I may be better off getting a hold of all my civilian records. ( Various Hospitals in various states) than rely on VA to find everything. I'm 70 now and would like to get some benefits before I croak. I also have a dependant spouse, disabled adult child and a 10 year old adopted child. My social security is $513.00 a month ----- Wish me luck!
Thanks for all the easy to understand information on the v.a. claims process. Me and many other veterans struggled and fought the v.a. for years to get our proper ratings. It seemed to be that they knew you were entitled but would string you along just to not have to pay us. DON'T GIVE UP VETERANS !
This is so true VA got me from the start I filed for a head injury in 1983 I was denied then given 30% in 2020 for the scar on my forehead due to the head injury now I have all kinds of issues one of them was MDD this is in the PTSD file they ended up giving me 50% 2021 that caused all of this from my head injury so I say "Don't Give Up" read and look at video's and apply what you learned. God bless Vets!
Another thing that helps is talking with other vets who have a rating. A VA nurse/veteran told me file for an increase I’d hadn’t known about. It got me increased 40% to 70%. Don’t let the process discourage you. Get help from free Service organizations if red tape isn’t your strong point. Good luck everyone!
I am at 30 percent since 2004, I filed a new claim 77 days ago. Currently waiting a reply. Gulf war combat vet, burn pit supervisor, chemical agent exposure, ankle deep in crude oil for at least six weeks, anthrax vaccines, malaria pills, chemical agent pills, multiple explosions…. Etc.
@@donaldmartin4980 the VA said they are going to put me on the firearm list to be banned, then the VA said i will be committed to the mental hospital for weeks. all because they rated me 100 for schizophrenia. i cant tell them i dont have schizophrenia because its not my choice. the VA diagnosed me this way.
I was 10% rating it was from, April or May- 2005, It took almost 15 years, I got 100% rating in April -June 22, 202l, thank you, for your info. Hill and Ponton, PA.
When I received my C-file. It didn't tell me everything I was looking for. So I called the my local regional VA office and had them email it to me. Just another option. When all else fails. Very informative video. Thanks.
I worked with my dad for 3.6 years to get his Korean service time, straight out with the VA. I had (2) four inch binders. VA kept losing same paperwork. I kept a list of date, time, each document was hand delivered, to whom & what time. It became a full time job! He had been exposed to moe gas & agent orange. We could never get his VA benefit before his death.
by the way, I forgot to mention that you are very exceptional at delivery of your subject matter. You make it very easy to understand without a bunch of fluff. Thank you for that. I know a few attorneys that could take lessons from you. Please keep up the good fight for veterans, my hat's off to you!
Your information presented here is so easy to understand & extremely informative. Thank you so much for helping us out. The V.A. system is frustrating and difficult to maneuver. We are often left in the dark and must fend for ourselves. I am going through such an ordeal. I believe I will be granted the SMC rating for my current situation. Your transparency, easy to understand videos & your explanations of the system make a world of difference. Thank You very very much !!! Respect ma'am !!!
I applied for plantar fasciitis secondary to my service connected pes planus, which was also Static on the code sheet. After the C&P exam for my plantar fasciitis, I received a reduction. Long story short, they claimed that I submitted an increase and that my pes planus was not static, therefore I was subject to a reexamination for that condition as well. My point is, even with a static disability, they still went ahead and conducted a reexamination.
I have never received a code sheet/rating sheet in my 4 or 5 decisions from the VA, most of which were in the last 2 years. I will definitely go to the regional office and try to get mine. Thanks
Thanks for this very informative, and helpful explanation of the VA rating decision. I'm a veteran, and as many veterans have experienced the sometime complicated process of filing a claim, receiving a decision. and understanding the decision, your step by step clear guide through the decision is very appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I served the Army on Vietnam era, had an accident, right leg and knee, was sent to hospital for 10 day. Next thing I know I was on a plain back home. It was a service connection injury. This was in 1974. I file claims like for ever. After I submitted a claim they always ask for more evidence. They already had the evidence since day 1. After more than 8 surgeries and a lifetime of claiming they gave me a 30% for right knee. They only pay me back pay for 3 years. I waited for this 40 plus years. Can I make a claim for the lost years?
You only get benefits back to your original claim date , a new law went into effect and stops back pay to 1998 , but that may only be in my case , I originally applied in 1980 on injuries from 1977. VA " lost ".all my medical files after 2 years post service, it has taken me 40 years to find evidence of my injuries.
Wait! Please, please, clarity. At time stamp 3:32 you stated that if veterans submitted an increase for the first time that veterans must use the 520 EZ form; however, if you claim an increase that you've claimed before, that you must use the supplemental form 🤯. Here's my situation: In 2010, I was VA Disability rated at 80%. In 2023, a 30-year VA rater,at my regional office recommended that I allow them submit for increases (on my behalf) considering that I never filed for an increases in 13 years. I agreed, but later contacted the VA and requested that VA withdraw the increase claim. Why? Because I saw a video suggesting that veteran's should never submit for increases without current medical evidence. (Fast forward to today)...I now have current mefical evidence, etc, and I'm ready to properly submit an increase claim; however, your statement induced concerns. Question: Considering the above scenrio, do I submit for an increases on a 520 EZ or supplemental form? Technically, I previously submitted an increase claim; however, techically, I didn't because I withdrew the claim and didn't fully go through the claims process. I also received notifications for C&P exams but quickly canceled them, notified VA, and submitted a form for VA to withdraw the claim. Note: After VA withdrew the claim, they VA listed the withdrawn claim (under my VA claim's history area) as a decided claim with decision letter; however, there is/was no decision letter attached. I am so confused and this challenge is holding me up from submitting the claim. Thank you in advance for responding.
I sent in for my C file, received it six months later. That’s where I found my rating sheet. They didn’t include it with my VA rating letters. That was in 2020.
Ms. Cheek didn't quite elaborate on what a Supplemental Claim was, but what was needed. A Supplemental Claim (0995) is exactly what it says. You include additional evidence (the Supplement) to bolster your original claim (526EZ) that wasn't included in the original claim. But, you MUST have additional evidence for the form.
This is very interesting, my original filing was 2015 and denied in 2019 the new form I submitted and signed deleted everything I submitted before 2019. Then I was approved in 2024 for the same condition but the benefit was back paid to only 2019. I see and experienced these facts. Thank you.
Explaining how to request your claim file would've been nice. She simply said that you can request it but didn't explain how to request it. VA blue button?
I have a 70% rating now. I am getting ready to have back surgery. I injured my back in AIT in 1970 from falling down the steps in the barracks. I injured my lower back and it was documented. The surgery is to my lower back. Should I file for an increase in my percentage after the surgery and how should I do that?
I'm so glad I found this video. I was going to file a sinusitis claim as a secondary to my rhinitis claim on the 21-526ez. I thought I could do this because it was one of the PACT act presumptive conditions. Sinusitis was on my original claim, and they said it was not service related. I will now file it separately on the 20-0995.
I wished I had watched these types of videos. I have had three C&P exams. The first one combined two claims to increase 10% on each. The Medical Examiner was rude and antagonist. I am in the process of sending a FOIA request to review his report to be able to rebut his conclusions. Also I had a second C&P exam for Tinnitus. I am also requesting the Audiologist report.
Continuing the VA keeps tons of secrets like any Hospital does. The most important secrets are the complication rate for both surgical facilities and surgeons as individuals, it's impossible for the veteran to make a decision based on fact when the facts are being withheld. When there isn't teamwork patients suffer. When the veteran doesn't meet and talk with the surgeon before the day of surgery he's not in a good position to decide if this is a surgeon for him. The whole of services are a little bit to factory like.
The paperwork says he was expised to tce, pce, benzene. These solvents can cause autoimune desease . Myasthenia gravis is a autoimune desease. Stationed at camp lejuene
I appreciate this information. I have been rated for 60% (Thanks to Hill and Ponton!). I had several issues with additional claims because of an unscrupulous VSO who was finally dismissed. How can I now try to process my claims? I am now living in Panamá because I was medically retired by SSN and I could no longer afford to live in the states. Any suggestions?
If I was denied for “neck and back pain” in 2010, but was granted a rating for Psoriatic Arthritis and Spondylitis I’m 2023. Will they look back at that claim and deem it rateable?
I think the whole thing should be investigated as I was Discharged in 1985 at Ten Percent never got no money then got Bladder Cancer in 2013 I was in Camp Lejuene for fourteen days but was told that it takes thirty days of exposure to get that disability so while having Cancer they took my Ten percent away.I think it is corrupt and can clearly see why Veterans Struggle in Life.
I'm very concerned about my future ratings....I among many of us came up in the Army being told to "suck it up" I do have several issues that I have been seen for however not on a consistent basis. I'm now in my 22nd year Active Duty and recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which is considered an automatic disqualifyer and now facing a Medboard. Apparently I've had MS for many years without recognizing the symptoms until they've gotten worse....I have several other issues however, this whole claims experience is stressful and worrisome because due to MS symptoms getting worse...I may not be able to work once I'm kicked to the curb.
Hang in there brother, I too went through a MEB TDRL then PDRL, VA only gave me 20% originally. Keep fighting, there are a lot of people on UA-cam with Great information.
If MS is an automatic disqualifier, then it seems to me you should apply for 100% disability & Inability to Work, Permanent. Basis could be secondary claim? That is, MS was made worse by service. Rule from Federal Register: Section 3.306(a) 38 U.S.C. 1153
If you are still in, then get as much documentation as you can before they med board you. You should be able to get 100% plus your retirement. That ought to be enough to sustain you if you are unable to work. Hang in there.
I just ran into this problem. I missed my year to appeal by 5 business days for filling out the wrong form before they notified me the form was wrong because 2. You also cannot add additional claims with the claim you appealing or reopening and final date is the later date the claim was re-processed on the corrected form missing the yearly deadline by 5 days. I am still waiting on them to send me the hard copies of documentation of my service medical and personnel file. While they have already decided the claim.
I really appreciate your videos and want to get more information on claims, your fees, etc. I do get a monthly stipend, based on my own Vietnam service with the USMC in 1970, but quite frankly, I am really in the dark as to making certain my own benefits are where they should be. Thank you!
If I have 50% VA rating for my disability then I got 10% for tinnitus and 20% for hearing loss. But I only get money for 60%. This doesn’t sound right. What do you say. Can I get unemployability?
The 10+20 took you too 60, the way they rate things is not the simple 10+10 =20.. so you still need a high value claim to get you to at least 80. If you happen to have sleep apnea I would go with getting a sleep study done through the Va. that’s atleast 30-50
I just called the VA and asked for my VA Rating Code sheet. I was told that it's an "internal document" and they cannot provide it. Any idea why they will not provide it to me? Thanks. Great video.
My husband passed away may 20th. He still had a compensation claim open for myasthenia gravis suto immune desease. I have this code sheet. And I have submitted substitution form to replace him on claim. I have been approved. Can I send in additional info ABOUT MEDICAL HISTORY, HOSPITALIZATION ,CRISIS TIMES INFUSIONS. .
I served in the Navy and was honorably Discharged in December of 1989. For YERAS I have tried to obtain medical records but they only send me medical check in sheets. The Navy experimented on me attempting to treat TMJ. They created splints that only made my condition worse! The Navy then extraxted ALL 4 wisdom teeth during a single surgery and I have experienced terrible Tinitus every since. My DD214 states "more dental work needed". Durig this time TMJ was a dental issue not a medical issue. I have been chasing this in circles getting nowhere! Can you help!?
It was gratifying to hear this the question I had if my. PTSD WAS DIFFERENT A CAPPOL OF TIMES TO MY veterans Regional Department 2010 to 2014 and they granted me 60% in 2020 when were the payment given? Thanks J2339 sincerely
I should be getting my notification letter from the VA any day now after attending my C&P exam I just recently had for secondary claims. I'm currently at an 80% disability shooting for 100%. If I receive a rating other than 100%, I'll be contacting your firm. I felt comfortable and confident that my current C&P exam went well. I'll be aiming for more secondary claims after I receive my notification.
@@teeybannister no, but I am now at 90%. I currently put in for an increase and have that claim pending. Was advised to wait a few more months to put in another increase claim.
@@oscarrodriquez2763 you’ve got to 90% by yourself or did you use a VSO?? How long did they tell you to wait before you can put in for an increase? I appeal a low rating before but never really just asked for an increase.
The VA said I was not eligible for disability claim since I out processed with no health issue. Five strokes later and tinnitus I question their decision.
Thank you for the information, in January 2023, I went to my VA Regional Office to ask for a copy of my code sheet. The VA representative showed me my code sheet, but would not make me a copy. I thought that was strange. The VA representative said that I had to submit VA Form 21-4138 to request a copy for my code sheet. Why is it so hard to get a code sheet? I have been waiting for over two months. Is this normal? Please advise. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Why is it that a Veteran has to go through filing this form and that form and submitting all these lay statements and yadda, yadda, yadda, but a Welfare recipient only filled out 1 form to be granted a monthly check and food stamps ?
Thank you so much for your video I learned a lot today. My husband, a Blue Water Navy Veteran has a Rating Code Sheet dated 10/18/2011. Since then, the VA has added Tinnitus to his disabilities. He also had a denial for Unemployability which is not listed on the Rating Code Sheet. On the Rating Code Sheet, they also denied Hypertension as indicated on the Rating Code Sheet. Can you tell me what form I need to request an updated Rating Code Sheet. Since the PACT ACT added Hypertension to the Agent Orange Presumptive Disability list, he will be filing a supplemental claim for Hypertension. The V.A. denied his Hypertension claim in 2007 on the claim they received in 2005. Thank you.
Did you get an answer to your question, about what form you need in order to request an updated Ratingg Code Sheet? I saw someone else respond under a similar question, that one would need to submit a FOIA form (Freedom of Information Act) to get the Code Sheet.
What if a claim was neither denied nor adjudicated? I have a claim from 1976 for hearing lost and it was never denied pending a hearing test that just was done and be found to be the case with tinnitus also? I filed as a new claim, but should I file a 20-0995?
I filed presumptive in March of 2022 for planters fasciitis and was told by the C&P examiner that I have planters in both feet. I was denied benefits because I was allowed to join the military. I now have really good evidence from my VA podiatrist and excellent medical notes written from him stating exactly the condition of both my feet after X-Rays along with custom insoles and I’m going to be getting steroid shots in January because of the severe pain in both my feet. I’ve filed a supplemental claim for this as well. My C&P exam is in January towards the end of the month. Is there anything else I should do on my part to hopefully get approved this time around?
We have to go thru our VSO or congressional representative to get this form. Do you know the form number? I am in the process of requesting my rating code sheet.
Wow! Thanks for this absolutely superb explanation and example of a Decision Sheet. Invaluable tool for understanding the history of our combined ratings and claims history.
Wish I could post a pic, I requested my information - only to receive it 7 years later. Not even joking. It shows the date of request and obviously delivery date on the front.
Wow. Miss Rachel is very good and clear at explaining things and getting the info across. I was really able to follow along and I enjoyed this video. Thank you 😊
Thank you for the information, and I appreciate you sharing this video; it answered the majority of my questions about applying for disability or other benefits.
Is there any truth to the “3 visit” rule? I’ve heard several of my fellow airman claim “to get VA percentage for any condition… you need 3 Dr visits for any particular condition”. For example, if you claim severe neck pain… but you e only went to the dr once, it’s not sufficient because you don’t have 3 visits for the same condition. Is there any truth to this at all??? Thanks.
How far back can my PTSD sup claim go if granted? First PTSD in1994 claim was denied, I never showed up for C&P exam and VA couldn’t find anything to prove I was in combat during desert storm. Last 3 C&Ps in 2022 -23 diagnosed me with PTSD. Claim is currently under record review.
I have anxiety so I have a hard time focusing to get through the process of filing. I had help getting 10% for tinnitus, but the gentlemen that help is no longer there at the county VA office. I have several condition that I think are service connected but can’t organize my thoughts enough to file. Any suggestions?
How do you file the results of medical studies? I want to link my surgical loss of ovaries before age 30 to my disabilities today using the results of studies by Mayo clinic as well as others.
I filed for PTSD several years ago and the final evaluation by the psychologist rated me 100% with total unemployability. But the VA denied my claim. They said they agreed with the doctors but couldn't find anything in my 201 file to substaniate my claim. The incidents involved a personal attack on board my ship in 1971 and was investigated by Naval Intelligence. But nothing was entered into my 201. Is it to late to file an appeal? Has anything changed in the last 6 or 7 years to allow me to refile?
Not sure how the Navy works or what a 201 is, but in the Army CID investigates, it might be in their records (whatever agency investigated). Not everything is in the service and medical records.
I myself did something like this but in long form you can actually google past codes of other veterans that have filed claims for some reason it’s all over the internet I think the only thing you can’t figure out is the combined rating inserts kinda get it but we the service members paid the price for serving and shouldn’t have anything combined it’s a bit disrespectful I actually filed my supplemental claim having to with hill sachs syndrome, shoulder tendon strain and right arm nerve damage concerns. You can actually get a Va call center VBA representative to place notifications in your file that your a certain arm dominate for the longest of time I thought the Va would figure this out or least look this inform up but I had to pay out of pocket to get my own mri which showed I had hill sachs syndrome and tendon issues all in my right shoulder and according to past Va records posted online are of different codes I placed these codes into my claim I filed it’s crazy service members
Do I go through my Regional VA office? Can I call them? Is there a correct form to use to request my rating sheet? Do I get all decisions made or just my last decision? Was this rating sheet used in 1984? Great video.
What if you filed a issue secondary and was denied, but later on you find out that issue was involved in exit exam but denied also. Should you continue with supplemental form or file direct service for appeal
Can I increase my VA disability rating for non service connected conditions such in my case major depression & arthritis in my back? I served in the Marine Corps artillery at Camp LeJuene NC from 1988-1991 for repeated hernia's under honorable discharge. My DD-214 does not say anything for being discharged under medical conditions. Should I contact a law firm that does VA disability claims or go through the local VA rep? I still think the water on base was still contaminated in 1988 even though the time limit is 1987.
2 questions on the video, 1 : you said that back in the 70s they had a different sheet, then Peter said that in the past 20 years this was what was used… what about the 30 years between the 70s and the past 20 years? When did they go to the new approach? I was rated in 1990 or so and don’t have a copy of one… is there one for me or do I fall in the old one sheet approach. (Or something different?) 2: the sheet shows things that are service connected, and things you have, but are not service connected… what about things that you applied for, but the VA did not agree that you had at all. Would that be a third section? Or is it lumped in with the second? And do those kinds of denied claims also need to be on a different form? Thanks,
Thank you so much for uploading this video! 🙏🏽 I have a question. What form would you use to revisit a claim that was deferred but was never addressed the first time? Would it be VA form 20-0995, VA form 21-526 EZ or did the VA (in all of their infinite wisdom 🙄😂)decide to make another form for that particular situation?
I was sent my Narrative letter by VA personnel, it had my new percentages but it wasnt a decision letter, my file hasnt been closed so I dont have a final decision just this letter, it was sent by accident but has all the information a decision letter would have, file is still open!
I’m a veteran, I can’t stand to deal with the va. Went to the local ER in my town the other day, not feeling good and I refuse to go to the va. I ran up a $20k bill on their dime. I’ll keep on dong it too whenever I feel a little unwell.
Question? I am a veteran that is 100% disabled. I have an SCI at the C-5 Asia C Incomplete Tetraplegic. I had a bulging disc at the C-5 that I had surgery on and the fellow drilled too far and hit my Spinal cord. I have been told by a couple other Veteran quads that I should have the higher R-1 or R-2 rating that would pay me a lot more than the 100% rating I have now. The VA does not have me as permanent and totally disabled but I have been in a wheelchair since May 2011. I was also granted the unemployability rating as well. My question is: How do I get the permanent and totally unemployability rating and the higher paying R-1 or R-2 rating?
I never received copy of VA C-File or RATING CODE SHEET. Why I have to CALL VA ? That should be included with RATING DECISION LTR without having to make a special request for it. Nutz!
Hi Rachel, on my rating code sheet I noticed an error, I think. For combine evaluation for compensation I see it list my percentage for 30, 40, 70, 80 and 90 percent. But I was at 50 percent during 2018. That should be listed too right?
Do you know if any claims related to the use of Navy cleaning fluid that we used in Deck Division. I remember the list of hazardous ingredients was long. Curious because in late 70’s we weren’t provided with gloves or OSHA Breathing apparatus just a rag tied over your face. I stilled got lead paint chips in my mouth 🙄 Thanks!

@@youlookgreattoday 90 to 100 can be difficult. It matters what various ratings you have and if those cra be increased. Hlr doesn't automatically increase you
Congratulations! Outstanding!
From: Air Force Veteran
What is HLR?
What is HLT teleconference? I like you got out in 92 with a rating of 10% in 2014 went to 50% have had other life events happen because of it so now trying to get in creased but hitting a roadblock.
Very informative, I'm new to VA system as of this year. 74 yr old Vietnam vet. Artillery.
Welcome home brother! You are remembered and honored!
74 better late then never
Make sure you get good help with your claims.
It ain't no party without Arty!!!
Etc.
@freedomfirst5557 I won the battle last year . The day after my wife’s funeral , there is no justice
I’m sorry that your father didn’t get his entitlements. Very sad.
How was he exposed to agent orange and “gas” in the Korean War?
you guys can still file.
by the way, I forgot to mention that you are very exceptional at delivery of your subject matter.
Thanks
My recent service connected rating came up to 540% after 14 years of denial. Too bad they only pay 100% :)
Agreed.
what seriously 540 percent?
Yes. But they only pay 100%
I have a similar rating.
They do not use an additive formula.
Thanks for this very informative, and helpful explanation of the VA rating decision. I'm a veteran, and as many veterans have experienced the sometime complicated process of filing a claim, receiving a decision. and understanding the decision, your step by step clear guide through the decision is very appreciated. Thanks
You're very welcome, Manuel!
If you get an answer to that please let me know
You only get benefits back to your original claim date , a new law went into effect and stops back pay to 1998 , but that may only be in my case , I originally applied in 1980 on injuries from 1977.
Here's my situation:
In 2010, I was VA Disability rated at 80%.
Question:
Considering the above scenrio, do I submit for an increases on a 520 EZ or supplemental form?
It seems odd that one needs to be a professional just to listen to the complications about filing a claim, but I am thankful that we have the VA.
Ms. Cheek... too funny 😂
Va form 21-4138 the VA support form, is the general form to ask or tell them about an issue.
THERE IS A SPECIALFORM 20-10206 WHICH YOU CAN FILE AND REQUEST INFORMATION ON YOURSELF, C-FILE, OR DD214, OR SRB, etc. it is on the va .gov website
Va is a horror show run by the devil
The paperwork says he was expised to tce, pce, benzene. These solvents can cause autoimune desease . Myasthenia gravis is a autoimune desease. Stationed at camp lejuene
I appreciate this information. I have been rated for 60% (Thanks to Hill and Ponton!). I had several issues with additional claims because of an unscrupulous VSO who was finally dismissed. How can I now try to process my claims? I am now living in Panamá because I was medically retired by SSN and I could no longer afford to live in the states. Any suggestions?
Thank you for being there for veterans😊
@Drainman
Unless you already have , you should seriously look into The PacAct to file for your conditions
Both letters have the VA seal. The Narrative aka rating decison has the seal front and centered.
Rule from Federal Register:
Section 3.306(a) 38 U.S.C. 1153
See note below
Thank you!
The VA Benefit Office filed my 2 claims for me, which both were approved/granted..
Wow...this lady knows her stuff.
I just called the VA and asked for my VA Rating Code sheet. I was told that it's an "internal document" and they cannot provide it. Any idea why they will not provide it to me? Thanks. Great video.
That's true it's an internal document. However, if you request a copy of your "c" file it will be in your file.
Regarding to the forms we need to use, where we get that form,I am sorry I didn't know how and where I find that form.Thank you.
My husband passed away may 20th. He still had a compensation claim open for myasthenia gravis suto immune desease. I have this code sheet. And I have submitted substitution form to replace him on claim. I have been approved. Can I send in additional info
ABOUT MEDICAL HISTORY, HOSPITALIZATION ,CRISIS TIMES INFUSIONS.
Did you get to 100%?
@@teeybannister no, but I am now at 90%. I currently put in for an increase and have that claim pending. Was advised to wait a few more months to put in another increase claim.
@@oscarrodriquez2763 you’ve got to 90% by yourself or did you use a VSO?? How long did they tell you to wait before you can put in for an increase? I appeal a low rating before but never really just asked for an increase.
@@teeybannister for the most part, I did it myself. Did a lot of research and I had a tiny bit of help from the DAV.

Why haven't I heard from the VA yet? I filed a new claim in February and it is now almost September.
Thank you for the easy to understand information. Should I have a need for VA claim help, I will definitely give you a call. Thanks again.
We have to go thru our VSO or congressional representative to get this form. Do you know the form number? I am in the process of requesting my rating code sheet.
I'm service connected by the board of veterans appeals for 4 conditions that are presumptive and va will not compensate me.
Wow! Thanks for this absolutely superb explanation and example of a Decision Sheet. Invaluable tool for understanding the history of our combined ratings and claims history.
so best way to get the paper work done is file BOTH FORMS EVERY TIME?
Backpay only for 1 year
That rating/code sheet has never been included with any of my decisions. It was in my C file.
I have anxiety so I have a hard time focusing to get through the process of filing. I had help getting 10% for tinnitus, but the gentlemen that help is no longer there at the county VA office. I have several condition that I think are service connected but can’t organize my thoughts enough to file. Any suggestions?
It seems they avoid as much as they can to provide the service the were created to provide. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Their only job is to make an appearance. They aren't supposed to actually accomplish anything.
Do not appeal, file a new claim
You can use this code sheet to do CRSC.
2 questions on the video,
1 : you said that back in the 70s they had a different sheet, then Peter said that in the past 20 years this was what was used… what about the 30 years between the 70s and the past 20 years? When did they go to the new approach? I was rated in 1990 or so and don’t have a copy of one… is there one for me or do I fall in the old one sheet approach. (Or something different?)
2: the sheet shows things that are service connected, and things you have, but are not service connected… what about things that you applied for, but the VA did not agree that you had at all. Would that be a third section? Or is it lumped in with the second? And do those kinds of denied claims also need to be on a different form?
Thanks,
Thank you so much for uploading this video! 🙏🏽
I have a question. What form would you use to revisit a claim that was deferred but was never addressed the first time? Would it be VA form 20-0995, VA form 21-526 EZ or did the VA (in all of their infinite wisdom 🙄😂)decide to make another form for that particular situation?
Can you file a claim for certain conditions? Would the VA file a claim for all your services conditions?
If you get approved for unemployability, does it stop at 100%, or can you receive extra benefits?
You may qualify for Special Monthly Compensation, SMC.
60 percent qualify for tdiu also under 38cfr4.16
Thanks for that tid bit of info ,I'll look that number up and see what it is and how to use it if I can.
I never received copy of VA C-File or RATING CODE SHEET. Why I have to CALL VA ? That should be included with RATING DECISION LTR without having to make a special request for it. Nutz!

No, Social Security Disability works on a completely different set of rules than VA's TDIU.
Can you do a video blog on the VA’s requirement for benefit of the doubt and as likely as not?
Good idea, we'll write it down.

Hi Rachel, on my rating code sheet I noticed an error, I think. For combine evaluation for compensation I see it list my percentage for 30, 40, 70, 80 and 90 percent. But I was at 50 percent during 2018. That should be listed too right?
How did you get you code sheet or rating sheet?
I got a copy of my code sheet. It doesn't have all this information on it like yours does.
