This appears to have worked! My wife's truck was stalling out while driving which was very dangerous, and also when going to restart it would take quite a few tries for it to start and not die immediately. The most difficult part was removing the pins without a solder sucker. We ended up cleaning the contacts and slightly prying up the pins (or whatever they are called). I have started it 10 times and wiggled the key and it has not died. I will update this comment if it ends up stalling out in the next few weeks. The key can still be removed while running but that isn't a big deal, that part is just worn out from too many keychains. Hopefully this helps someone else with the same problem.
Thank You for this video Rick. It helped my to fix my problem. My VW Routan has this Wireless Ignition Nod (WIN). In order to start up my car I had to push the key forward after turning it right every time. So I toke the WIN, I did not clean anything, I just little bit bended lags to make a contact tighter. It has worked!
I just took the end off the black box on my 11 3500 Ram and hosed it down with aerosol electric contact cleaner without the desolder. In the short term its seems to be working.
The plastic hole where the key goes wears out and doesnt hold key tight enough to make terminals contact on the circuit board so i put 2 strips of masking tape over the end of the fob from front to back not side to side . Then put key fob in hole and push in all the way . This holds the key tight againt the plunger . Did this 3 years ago still working like a hot damn . Just replace your tape every 2 months Simple 5 second fix .
I have a 12 ram and its starting this problem how wide was the strips of tape are they wide enough for it to be stuck or just wide enough to keep it tight
I have a 2009 challenger srt8 that will not start with the button. Everything else works. I push the button and I can hear a clicking noise behind the radio,, then it will say damaged key. Got a new fob, no fix. Win module could be the issue. Looks to be buried in the dash somewhere. How difficult is it to get out?
Great tip on this, im having an issue where my fobik won't turn all the way off, running my battery dead, I wonder if this would fix my issue. Such a poor design from Dodge.
Good morning everyone! So I'm having an issue with my 2012 Dodge caravan where it's stalled out on me the other day! Intermittently stalls out and then I noticed the security light blinking on the dash board along with the gear display saying that it's in reverse and I cannot pull the car out of park and I get no crank no start... I also noticed when the symptom occurs I also noticed that I do not hear the clicking noise that enables me to step on the brake and release the car from Park... Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not sure how to test if it is in fact the win module, or just the key fob... Any help is greatly appreciated... Have a great day

My 2009 vw routan wont start it says bad key on inst panel, module is 1st gen. Had a techician clean it but didnt help. Module is diff. from the one in video
No No No. Do Not use sand paper to clean the contacts. these are not industrial connections. If you need to, use a simple pink pencil eraser to clean the contacts as a last resort. Just use alcohol on a Q-tip to clean the contacts. 91% alcohol if you have it.

Did cleaning the contacts/ cotections with sandpaper make the module work better ??

A Lenline fiberglass brush is the ideal tool to resurface these contacts.

Those contacts look misaligned.
Sandpaper? That's horrible advice. Us rubbing alcohol on a qtip people
super fine 1600 hurts nothing for burnishing; that's been used on small motor commutators for years
I used 3200 and it polished it back and got rid of a good bunch of corrosion.
Someone like me might use 30 grit and wreck it. Someone more reasonable would use 3200 and have it work.
