So if your have difficulty after following these instruction clean your fob control board.
OMG Brother thanks for the Video... came out of the woods from hunting and went to start my truck, and BOOM... WRONG KEY FOB. My truck scared the shit out of me today with transmission problem on dash. Was able to get home but when I turned off truck it did the exact same thing yours did, so I tried your repair and man it worked perfect. Now it’s back to normal again

Good to know, I live in an area that has lots of dusty gravel roads. I’m sure this video will help save me one day. That’s if I have cleaner and tools on hand.
Thank you so much for posting! I haven't had this problem...yet ... with my 2017 Ram 1500. Good to know how to repair it. I'm amazed though, that dust can get inside that box when it appears to be sealed pretty good. Looking at the posts to this video, I guess it is. But, I now know how to fix it if it becomes necessary!!! Thank you again for a very thorough video on how to do this.
This is great, for if I have a situation like this...... HOWEVER, I have 2 key fobs, one will work no problemo, while the other one won't work at all. How do I get the second one to work? The one that doesn't work is the one I gave my wife to use. Need to get this fixed
Thank you so much you saved my Day, if anyone is wondering if this is going to work i highly suggest you follow instructions i followed step by step and it worked!
Ok this exact thing happened the other night. But there a quick fix that will get you started in the mean time. Found it by watching other videos cause I was stranded. Put key in, hold the unlock button while you turn it on, and it turns on. Starts you immediately. That’s how I start the truck at this moment, but I have to try this to actually fix the issue, cause it still doesn’t start the normal way, only by pressing unlock while starting. Hope this info helps others and hope this video helps me.
@@ferrarimanterrance mine still doesn’t work, and I wait forever because there is a huge back order on the part. It’s the only way I have been starting my truck. I’m just holding the button firmly as I turn the key. Sometimes it takes me a few times. But it’s the only way I’m driving my truck right now and not dead in the water. Tried the brake cleaner bunch of times and didn’t work for me unfortunately.

That’s very odd. Can you try swap the battery in the key fob and trying it again? For the lock/unlock to not work tells me that you have a dead battery. I’m curious now because I don’t think these get “de-magnetized.” Look forward to a response from you

Thanks for the step by step guide. Will have to try it out myself this time. I have a 2013 Ram 1500 that had this problem. Unfortunately I decided to take to the dealership (they know what they're doing, right?) and got charged $500+ for ignition replacement with new keys a few months ago. But now it started again, with only one of the two keys working. Definitely gonna give this a try before anything else.
Thx for the Video, imma add this to the list of crap we should not have to deal with. pulled into a parking lot and then all the sudden the truck doesnt know i have a key, yet remote starts and locks/unlocks . completly stupid. I have a 2013 2500 but obviously its that same part.
Was a job site and needed to get some materials to finish job. Got in truck and nothing. Waiting on contact cleaner and I think it will work. Just taking it apart and blowing on it made it do more than it was before. Thank you
Sadly didn't work for me. It was to far gone. Luckily the dealership said under $400 to replace it. She got a ride on the flatbed and a friend came picked up my trailer. Your method did do something it actually registered a key being inserted after following your process so no doubt it would could work.
I used to work for a company that manufactured these ignition with the Fobik 1s. I was a quality control geek and my God, when I saw these things. I thought, why rely on a small plastic tabs to keep the key in and why are we not sealing these to keep the elements out? Also, be extremely careful of the copper coil contacts. The strands are know to break easily.
MJ!!! Thanks for the video. I was able to use Isopropyl alcohol, first I tried to use a Q-Tip and clean everything , but that did not work. I was at the F-It point and decided to pour it all over the circuit board and into the Fob Slot. After drying with compressed air the beast started up. I believe someone asked this previously, but since you cleaned this have you had any issues with it again? Thanks again.
Pray that it unlocks, then when I exit the truck I started locking it from the inside then I would lock it with the fob. After a few days the fob started working lol I was too lazy to do what buddy did in the video.
I went to the dealership where I purchased my 2013 Ram. Was able to purchase the ignition switch you have there. It only cost me $185. (Yes. My truck is a Laramie with remote start) Went home installed it. Same problem. Replaced battery in remote. Same problem. I’m at a loss. I have to like push in hard or bend the fob to one side or another to get it to start my truck. It sometimes takes a dozen or two tries to get it to start. Very frustrating.

Any recommended test/repair procedure for the push button start/rotary dial trans shifter for a no crank/ddial won't move out of Park?? 2014 Ram Laramie 5.7.Thanks
I have no power with either my fob key or my regular key. I just changed the battery but there is no power showing whatsoever...not even dash lights and the doors won't even lock. I'll try what this gentleman has shown us.
When having this issue, has your fuel cut off switch ever activated? When this happened with mine, it cut off the fuel supply and I would have to reset it before it would start.
thanks for the fix procedure. I have a 2017 ram 1500 I bought new. I have had zero problems with it since new.. just one little thing …--- NEVER use carb cleaner or throttlebody cleaner on electrical components. I’m not sure about throttlebody cleaner, but I am positive that carb cleaner is an acid… cleaning something like this do you want to use electrical contact cleaner only… Just saying

It definitely works!! I used Electric Cleaner and it crunk right up!! Thank you and God bless.
Awesome! Glad it worked out for you!
This video helped out tremendously! Thanks brother
Glad I could help!
Worked like a charm, thank you so much for the video!
Nope, never had the issue again since this video! Fingers crossed!
Trying this later after work. THANK YOU
My key fobs acting up… sometimes locks/unlocks and sometimes it don’t, all this with a new battery in both key fobs. About to try this out
Pray that it unlocks, then when I exit the truck I started locking it from the inside then I would lock it with the fob. After a few days the fob started working lol I was too lazy to do what buddy did in the video.

Much appreciated! Thanks for the thorough steps! 👍🏾
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge
Best best video ever thanks Hommie you are the man! Chingon
Glad it worked out for you!
@@MJAltairy If this works "DITTO" on all the comments
Im a shop owner and have been going through hell to solve this problem
You was late to work. Great video
Focus your blasting of contact cleaner on the top side of the circuit board. Under the plastic coil stuff. The contact is under there.
Thanks this video help a lot I was about get a new fab one of my fab works when it wants to but the other one works all the time
Just sitinghere waiting on t bits to get here thanks

Mine is doing this now, but if you keep playing with the key you should be able to get it started, at least till your ready to do the job.
Muchas Gracias amigo, gran aporte, bien explicado. Soluciono el problema. Sigue adelante. saludos.
Omg thank you so much it worked you are pro.
Glad it helped!
Sir you are the MAN! Thanks!
Any recommended test/repair procedure for the push button start/rotary dial trans shifter for a no crank/ddial won't move out of Park?? 2014 Ram Laramie 5.7.Thanks
Thanks so much man this definitely worked!!
Nice! Glad it worked for ya as well!
Sorry where did you clean it? What did you spray? Great vidio
Thank you!!!!! I'll be doing this Wednesday... Luckily I have a regular key as a back up for now.
I have no power with either my fob key or my regular key. I just changed the battery but there is no power showing whatsoever...not even dash lights and the doors won't even lock. I'll try what this gentleman has shown us.
This is an ignition fix not a key fix. If one of your keys works this fix isn't going to help you.
When having this issue, has your fuel cut off switch ever activated? When this happened with mine, it cut off the fuel supply and I would have to reset it before it would start.
My 2012 is doing the same thing I hope that's what it is
Fixed my issue!! Thanks!!
Tried it but did not work but my mine was super dirty and did need cleaning ty great video thanks
thanks for the fix procedure. I have a 2017 ram 1500 I bought new. I have had zero problems with it since new..
just one little thing …---
NEVER use carb cleaner or throttlebody cleaner on electrical components. I’m not sure about throttlebody cleaner, but I am positive that carb cleaner is an acid…
cleaning something like this do you want to use electrical contact cleaner only…
Just saying
@@Jodyrides yes absolutely electrical cleaner recommended, I was just working with what I had in the moment.
You solve my problem, you are great, thanks so much from Switzerland, Greetings Mac
Glad i could help! Thank you!
