To anyone else having problems with their WIN module acting up, find someone who is decent at soldering because the fix is very simple and free. If you pull the black housing off the back to expose the circuit board you will see 5 pins soldered to the board which are keeping it from being removed. Desolder those 5 pins (I used a small soldering sucker) and the board will come loose. On the opposite site you will see the gold contact areas and the "finned" tabs which make contact while turning. Clean these well with rubbing alcohol to remove dust and corrosion. If you're careful you can also bend the "finned" tabs slightly to give them a little stronger contact with the board. I just bought a 2012 Ram 2500 that started having all sorts of no starts, dying, etc. and this was an instant fix. Good as new. Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk as I am not responsible for you ruining your WIN module or causing problems resulting in stalling and damage/injury.
Curtis Shirley Thanks a lot man! You saved my life but at least a few hundred dollars!! I removed it but I didn't have a soldering tool so I just blowed thorough with compressed air and it worked after I put it back together! I'll probably have my friend to do the maintenance that you mentioned...
I was able to repair mine without replacement. Follow the video to remove. Remove the back of the WIN module by using a small screwdriver. Insert key and spray contact cleaner on the finned tabs that move when you turn the key. Spray and turn key on/off a few times. Repeat a few times. Replace back cover and reinstall. Was fairly easy and only took about 15 minutes. GL

I changed out the unit and installed an ignition from a 2015 1500, and I just stuck in the old key and it fired right up!, seems the programming isn't in the unit, it's in the on board computer, that reads a wrong key, so all my fobs work great.
I am having the same problem. I put the fob into the iginition and it says (key iginition), then a full turn to the right says (damage key). No start. I have dodge ram 1500 yr 2011, and never had problems. Dodge dealer, said warranty will not cover cost. estimated price because i need to purchase both at the same time for programming. key module $600 and one fob key $200...labor and parts...does that sound about right? they told me both parts are broken but it seems usually.key is cracked at the tipkey module is loose inside and does not hold contact.

Does anyone know where the antenna wire module (RF hub) is located on the posters truck? (2011) No it is not behind the rear seat either, the wiring is not long enough for that. It is somewhere inside the dash, but I can not find the mounting location.
If this part has gone bad would it effect my key fobs from not being able to unlock the doors ? I don't have any probs with the ignition, just the keyless entry ....I've checked All fuses and I have to brand new programmed fobs. Thanks !
steve Chronister sound like it. I know they have to reprogram each key to the new module so if both are not working chances are it's the module. BUT it may only need to be reprogrammed. Maybe something happen and it was reflashed.
I just watched a video of a guy replacing his win module on a 2012 and he did not have to reprogram anything. Installed it stuck the key in it and it started.
After you replace the box and the dealership reprograms it...do you have to have the key thing reprogrammed or a new one? I read in comments its $500 ?????? Is that true?
I just looked up the parts diagram for a 2017 and it does look the same. The diagram states it covers from 2013-2017. You should be able to see pretty easily looking under the dash with a flashlight to see if there box that looks like what I changed on mine. If so, then you should be good to go. I am still running around in my 2011 lol

the only thing i was able to do was pick underneath the steering wheel to get the handle to switch gears and move the truck but the key it self its still stuck & the handle when i put it on park it gets stuck again
when you bought the new ignition switch until your truck stop dying or turning off while you were driving cuz mine's doing that and I don't know if it's probably the ignition switch I have a 2012 Dodge model 3500 diesel

Jesusalvarez210 Kinglove nope nothing. But again I did have to have the dealer reprogram it. It would it work until I had that done. But once that was done-no issues
steve Chronister doesn't sound right but my maybe they have restrictions at the dealership. Check the comments. Someone said on here that they had to ability to do it. I would try to seek him out and maybe he can help and if not, point you in the right direction.

Blas Jimenez sorry had to delete the last one. It would come out of park but wouldn't shut down. I fooled with it a bunch and could get it to do what you're describing. The key would get stuck and I would have to unplug and reset mess around with it to get it out again. Sounds like the same problem though.
How is this not a recall?.. my truck stalled doing 110km/hr on the highway. Luckily there was no traffic or else it would have caused an accident with no power steering or brakes.
I just got 3 Three! Recall notices from Dodge and took it in, and one was for a tailgate problem, it was a rubber fucking gromit, and they said the could not do the other 2 because of the interment issue with the ignition, and trotted out a $1100 quote to fix it, BEFORE they would do the other 2 recalls!!!! I told them to take a flying fuck, and went to a wrecker yard and bought one from another 1500, installed it in I shit you not, 15 minutes, and its fine now. Not taking it to the same shop for the other 2 recalls, because I want to take it to a different one to see how THEY try to fuck me over!

I have a 2011 dodge ram 4×4 hemi and have to replace my ignition modular too. Crapppp My husband works months on end, away from home, all over America now after loosing his career offshore with 0 warning 3 yrs ago as a ballast control operator ( offshore deep water rig specific job ). Luckily he's a welder and does every type of welding there is and gets jobs on shutdowns and new builds....there's just NO stability with it and no benefits. Where we live there's NO money to be made but both of our families and grandchildren are here as well as the house we are 8 yrs from paying off. ( we lost our home when he lost his career a few years ago and bought a small really cheap house we could pay off in 10 years because of our age, or we wouldn't have ever owned another house. ( 15 acres a barn and tin roof sawmill house, we bid on at an auction. That's the way to GO btw for anyone looking to buy. Buy a foreclosure for pennies on the dollar ) Anyway....we live way out in the country and a tow will cost a couple hundred $ since its so far and now insurance only tows a certain distance then the rest is on YOU. Ugh insurance is such a scam !!!! THANK YOU for putting this video up. I'm jerry rigging this truck until August when he can come home. I have to have a.c. in the deep South...just too humid and hot not to lol. Things are tight so no choice...can't afford the tow and the $160 part right now. My 300c had a bad one. It's crazy that now if it goes out you are stuck with a tow charge, $400 part and couple hundred to reprogram and install.

izz Hipp yeah, they sell the win module on eBay for 95$ now, key fobs online are like 20-30$ and I’m having a key Smith do my reprogram for 65$

I would go with the less expensive one, as long as it matches the part number. Should work the same.

disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect. the key will come out. just make sure the knob is in park.
