- Is you OMC Cobra stern drive leaking down? Watch all my videos on how-to fix the leak. I cover 100% of the all the possible causes. No more guess work!
do you know how to add fluid ?
Old thread - But trying to assist a friend and the boats not at my place for me to look. So, maybe a stupid question but where do you fill the tilt/trim on these OMC outdrives?
$200 for a remanufactured pump is looking pretty good if you consider the price of all the seals and check valves and the time it takes to do the work , I mean your going to have $150 in parts by the time your done ..
Morse Mason Yea, I agree with you. Keep in mind the valve body seal kit is $53, the down valve core seal is $13, and the check valve is $30 ($96 total). The real gain is knowing that all parts required to resolve a trim down issue, have been replaced. I have my doubts that the rebuilt units have updated parts. I honestly think the refurbished units are just pressure tested.
Is the red cap where I add trim and tilt fluid ???
It is the spot. Please subscribe!
What's the part number for the manual relief valve o-ring you mention at the beginning? Did you mean to say thermal relief valve?
Here is the part for the manual relief valve: www.crowleymarine.com/parts/12239.cfm
This is where they reference the term: www.crowleymarine.com/johnson-evinrude/parts/56124.cfm?mdl=TMV29H
There isn't a value that will blow-per se if a certain temperature is reached. If an over pressure situation happens, it blows the oil rings out. Been there--seen that happen.
Does VP SX fits on OMC cobra transom /gimbal plate ?
It likely does but there are slight differences based on your motor.
Thank you for your videos on cobra Trim / tilt. Can you provide a list of all the kits included in your video? My pump is creeping down while going forward.
What model and year do you have?
What is the part number for the main seal kit? I found the trim seal and core from your video. Thanks
I need to check but other subscribers mentioned it is not available anymore. Check out the comments below for part numbers.
Where are you getting the part kits for these assemblies. I cannot seem to find them
I heard they aren’t making them anymore. Check CrowleyMarine.com and let me know if they are available.
I have a 21' 2010 Chaparral with 5.0Gxi-J and SX-A1.6 outdrive. Port trim cylinder was leaking and replaced with a new unit 4 years ago, and all was fine until the outdrive was stuck in down position (trim pump was very noisy in spite of proper fluid level, and finally quit). Trim pump and starboard cylinder were replaced last fall, but system now seems to be airbound no matter how many times I raise and lower outdrive (the manual says raise and lower 3 times to purge any air, etc.). Any suggestions?
ThankYou for the very best video’s I’ve ever seen on stern drive problems my pump won’t pump up the cylinders on my 94 galaxie boat 502ACPMDA can you tell what would cause that condition
at about 11:40 you pick up one of the small pistons that goes in the housing . in both videos you completely skip how those are installed and which side the check ball goes in. in your other video when you pull the housing off nothing fell out of the housing namely the one small check ball. which is confusing to me because my check ball fell out and i have no idea which side it goes in and i dont know how the pistons go in the housing .
that's it no comment or instructions? man this is twice now i have asked you to explain and you have not! it's my customers boat and i have been working on this for about 3 weeks and if i don't get some answers soon i will have to give up and then not get paid for my time!
Rodney, sorry for the delay. I get 100 comments a week and subscribers get top priority. I filter comments by those who subscribe and I answer top to bottom. Use this: www.crowleymarine.com/johnson-evinrude/parts/56224.cfm
Hello Michael I capped off my lines and it held solid rebuilt pump replaced all seals, check valves, springs, seats and all my check balls are in and it still drifts down not sure where to go from here. Thanks
Very good video. Helped me a lot
Thanks!
Does anyone know where I can find a replacement pump? Mine is the exact same as the one in this video.

I'm trying to diagnose a problem. My drive doesn't leak down, but under way I cant trim up. If I start out trimmed up it will drop down as I give it throttle. Could this be caused by my lines being reversed????
TheTim16964 watch my videos on leak down checking. I cover this in those videos.
@@michaelromer2016 I watched it, I capped the lines, no leak down.
The pump was replaced recently and I have the suspicion that the pump was wired in reverse and that the person decided to correct it by swapping the lines.
Oh wow. Those pumps can be swapped for new. I hope the fix is easy. I also have a video on rebuilding them.
Where do you get the seal kit from?
