Nice job explaining everything hitting all the main points. I just did one on my old OMC Cobra, I used that tin can trick to get the part with the 2 split rings and 1 o-ring in lubing it with T&T fluid. As long as the cylinder comes apart, this is a pretty easy job. The Cobra is similar to the Volvo with a few differences in the piston rod. There's a shop in Fla that rebuilds these (you send yours and wait for them to come back) I think they charge $550 for 2, but when the OMC kit with the o-rings is only $55, it pays to know how to do this yourself.
When rebuilding parts with the white retainers, we put a little Vaseline on them. (Air Force mechanic here.) I like the way you didn't remove the whole cylinder. The bolt tap trick was good too. Thanks for the good video.
Great Video. It seemed a lot easier than removing the whole trim assembly like I've seen in other videos. Your explanations on what you are doing and why are awesome! You've got a new subscriber in me! Keep it up!
Thank Al a great explanation of changing the seals and ram etc. Keep up the good work. I'm sure the dealers do it that way but charge for the complete removal. Thanjsxagain Gary Daniels
I like your video you did a fantastic job I have a 89 Fourwinds Liberator which I bought multiple Rams over the years and I have one that’s leaking I’ve watched some of the videos and I came across yours and yours was a great video and I see that you had a much more complicated ram to rebuild than the regular OMCs as I have but thanks for the video great workmanship is gonna give me the incentive to do mine😊

My friend, I think I could watch you describe paint drying! You are clearly a good dude. As a new boat owner, thank you for making these videos.

Thanks Gary. I’m keeping it real. I figure this out on my own, nobody will tell you that. Standby for more effective cheap shortcuts.

What was the kit number?
Good video. I just rebuild mine. What kind of oil does that take?
We use Volvo Penta Trim Oil. They have all kinds of equivalents but you have to research online
My kit came with a bunch of small o-rings, i cant figure out what theyre for.
Those small o rings are for the the fitting that connect the lines to your reservoir, if you disconnect them.
Do you know what size the flare nuts are on the actuators, and would you need a special tool?
I used a universal tool from Amazon.
@@teammahaldotcom4264 What tool was it?
Which universal tool did you get off Amazon? Do you have a link?
Is this a 5 star kit? How do I specify to them what kit I need?
Below is the link to the kit I used.
