So if a flex plate was rigid like a flywheel what would happen? Also, does the hydraulic pressure in the transmission push the torque converter/engine crankshaft forward?
Javelin, you have a javelin? #RareAF I finally found out why my car was making clanking sounds, but in the beginning it wasn't shifting into overdrive in the winter until idled 15/20 mins driving around town six or so blocks and 2 solenoids later, still wasn't shifting until it started warming up outside it started to shift again. So recently at a quick lube check it out and said I had a cracked flexplate is that anything to do with the shifting issue in cold weather? The flexplate... Starter .....torque converter need much help here
It's like there is no converter in it at all. Hughes is great to work with but haven't had ANY luck getting the stall speeds where we want them with their converters. For whatever reason the B&M converters function as advertised for us and seem to work great.
Hey guys could really use some help, marking the flywheel before taking it off may have skipped my mind... so now how the hell do I figure out which way to put it back on
Pontiac uses a thin stamped steel shim between the crank flange and the flexplate. I didn't see you guys use it or mention it in your video. Did you forget to put it in ?
My research led me to beleive some Pontiacs came with the shim and some didn't. This one didn't have it in there so I didn't bother looking for one. I doubt it makes much difference either way anyhow since the shim is paper thin.
Cool internally balanced like AMC :) A guy i knew Kenny Parkman external balanced his 401 for a 77 Hornet bracket racer , wounder how much that cost :) he ran 10.49 all day and on by run 10.45 , that was AMC day at the track i won in my 72 360 Hornet 13.68 :) lost the trophy lol glory days.... UA-cam search for ken video (amc day Cayuga ken Parkman 77 hornet 10 45 no NOS) he was working on a 1974 Bricklin that came with a AMC 360 drive train with plans to put a 401 in it lat i herd, then he vanish off :)
very helpful...doing this on my 1970 olds 442-w-30
Living the dream I wish I could afford to buy that off of him😢

Make sure the right side is out and it'll only line up perfectly one way.
After taking it off the motor stand and putting the flywheel back on I see👍 thanks guys
