  • Nick goes over the do's and don'ts of installing your automatic transmission with the main focus on torque converter installation, alignment and spacing. Overlooking some key details could spell disaster for your engine and transmission components, leading to what could be a very long lead time while you wait on parts!

    Great videos guys!!
    Question, what flex plate or flywheel should I use in a 2013 vortec L96 6.0 and 4l80E transmisión?

    Great info! Great advice! This may be a dumb question, but like you said, it’s no fun doing it twice or spending twice! My question is, when tightening the torque converter bolts should the 1/8” gap still be there or should it close?

    Very good but can you cover the issue and models with longer crankshaft, I think for 4L80E but not sure If any other models, like which year/models had what and what exactly is length difference etc etc

    On a flexplate/flywheel for a 4L60E there is an oval hole that I find is the first bolt you should put in. Does that mean that the other two bolt will line up correctly if you do the oval hole first? Thank you, good video!

    So if the gap is exactly 1/8, I can just bolt it up as normal without spacers correct!

    I guess the person who put my trans in did not make sure there was spacing between my converter and flex plate and after I drive about 20 miles it sounds like there is a whinning noise coming from the converter does this mean it is shot or can I put the washers in there and it be good to go

    I have a 454 big block with a turbo 350 and my torque converter is fully seated but my bell housing isn’t flush with my motor and the torque converter is hitting the fly wheel keeping the bell housing from seating against the motor. I know it’s fully seated so what else could be the issue ???? Help please

    If everything in my 4l65e is stock then why would I need to shim the bolts?

    Can you please do a video how to hook up 10L90E 10 speed to LT4 crate engine? I’m having major problems. There a flange that sticks out on the flex plate, I’m not sure what this is for. Reading directions to use bolts to mount torque converter but don’t see holes. Help

    Question, what would I need to do to change the 4L80E to the 6L80E? Other than programming, do I need to change the steering column with one made for 6 speed? Or will oem work just won't show 1st and 2nd on the dash?

    • @Sdpartscenter
      @Sdpartscenter  2 роки тому

      Some of that is going to be vehicle specific. What's the year/make/model and what engine are we dealing with?

      Started with 06 silverado 1500 4wd dbw l33 and 4l60e trans. Swapping in the 2006 2500 silverado 6.0 bored .40 over and wanting to know what it would take to match that with a 6l80e trans instead of the 4l80e trans the new motor came with.

    The RVs with 454bbc , the torque converter would ballon out and ruin thrust bearing.

    The best I’ve seen was a guy bolted the converter to the flywheel before installing the transmission, it never moved…
