Doesn anyone can give me a good advice on what type of paper I need for charcoal drawing and drawing tools? When I draw with white charcoal on dark hair... I see no white color from white charcoal or from eraser.. WHY??? also I cannot create different shades. I seen artists make different shades big and small with just one or 2 hand moves.. while my one shade staying in one place and not moves, i just waste too much charcoal for no reason.

Great tutorial on shading, and using only 3 pencils. i thought about it, i think i use 3 as well i love the 2b and hb myself then the 8b for dark areas. great drawings awsome channel

Beautiful work braddah! I have a question about drawing hair? I found out it’s a little easier when the picture is clearly that you can see the flow of the hair. Now when you come across more of a an older picture say from the 50’s, that’s when I have my problems seeing the flow of the hair. I would like to show you an example of the picture, and maybe you can help me with that issue.

Good and beautiful, but I have a question: is cardboard good for drawing realistic portraits especially for the shading process?
Thanks to Jason legendary art, my art has really gotten to some levels I can boast of...
However, I'm always afraid to attempt to draw a reference that is light-skinned in complexion.. Those ones I tried to, I always go too dark and at the end, it doesn't always look like the reference. Also, if I try to use the pencils lightly, it's either the drawings lacks depth or it doesn't just look good..
Please is there any help or tutorial on that..?

It's a matter of control, knowing when to stop shading and when to go darker. You also need to know the exact areas that require a darker shading.
I don't have a tutorial that addresses the exact problem you mention.
