What comes frozen wood. When wood freezes solid, it becomes really tough. U.S. actually planned to make air craft carriers from saw dust and ice (its called pykrete and Mythbuster's tested it). Forzen wood, depending how thick it is, (like smallish frozen stump) can stop .308 not to mention lighter cartridges like .223 etc. that normally would go thru wood easily.
This one is an early 2000s classic. Maybe it's too soon to categorize the decade but I just love the goofy, balls-to-the-wall hijinks that many of the films of the time got up to.
I'm so happy you reacted to this treasure hunting movie after you saw The Mummy and Indiana Jones. This was my fav out of the 3 but maybe I'm bias since I'm american
Great reaction as always! I really enjoyed this movie when I watched it for the first time. Sure it's goofy but still fun. I think Moonstruck might be my fave Nick Cage movie as well, but this one is still pretty good. I have heard good things about Renfield where he plays Dracula
Fun review sister, thanks for watching this. It's always useful to remember that this movie was released three years after 9/11, and 18 months after the US inexplicably invaded Iraq. There was a school of thought that said that the then 228 years of history that represents the entirety of the US might be a little weak, short, uninteresting, and not worth masturbating to. Exceptionalism, jingoism and patriotism -- all things Americans LOVE to get off on, were perfectly good ways to sell movie tickets. And what better way to fan those flames than to make US history more interesting and important than it actually was.
... This is still the fun movie, yes? I think whole point of this movie... and what comes "Exceptionalism, jingoism and patriotism" this is mild case compared Act of Valor (2012) or any film Kremlin has provided funds after 2014... just saying.
@@thejamppa I'm sorry, did you just claim that "Act of Valor" was funded by the Kremlin? The movie that was literally built from the ground up by the Pentagon, and the money came right out of Naval Special Warfare's budget? Is that what you just said? What the hell have you been reading brother? Let me guess, you also think "The Green Berets" was made by the Chinese. And yes, this is indeed still a fun movie, you're totally right and I'll back you up on that. Also, if you choose to respond, I'm going to ask that you identify yourself. I've never once posted on UA-cam (or anywhere else) without actually using my real, legal name. My name's Mike, what's yours?
All the films of the time have that je ne sais quoi to them, a combination of blind optimism and fanatical patriotism that combined into something else. It was like living through a scene out of Starship Troopers. At the same time I grew up with that aesthetic and I can't pretend I don't enjoy the corniness of it all. National Treasure, Watchmen, the Dark Knight trilogy, they all reek of post 9/11 American fervor but I still love em.
@@OldLadyReacts my only 2 problems with Raiders of the Lost Ark is 1. Little character development for Indy as a character. It's a big problem I have with that film 2. Marion. I can't stand that character. Imo a horribly written female character who acts tough but is a F'up. I did like when she shot the nazis tho, that was an MVP moment and her drinking from the shot barrel of booze. That was a cute moment.
You know there's a story that Nicholas Cage is a 100 year old vampire.
You know about his hand, he lost it and his fiancee.
Loving your Nick Cage marathon! Choo choo, Nick Cage train all the way

Interesting! I'll have to see if I can find that Mythbusters episode to watch!

Yeah, it's just all around fun!
Oddly, a great old fashioned caper type flick that's rewatchable. Great fun.
Yes! I think 'rewatchable' is a great way to describe it.
This one and ConAir were my fav ones actually
The part 2 is equally fun.
Yeah, I'm sure I'll watch that eventually too.

Watch the National Treasure series and see if everything makes sense. There's a chit of a girl who knows more history than Catherine Zeta.

Oh Renfield is funny! You should definitely watch it.

Watch NEXT. That's considered a flop of his.
Which did you prefer the most: Indiana Jones, The Mummy, or National Treasure?
Well, Indiana Jones is kinda the OG so I'll have to go with that. But The Mummy and National Treasure are definitely worth watching.

Good, how are you? Are you liking my Nicolas Cage marathon?
