The Christmas party scene still gets me. This is one of my favs of 2023 along with Past Lives and American Fiction. These three movies are overshadowed by the big ones which is fine because they were awesome as well. If you haven’t seen Sideways or Win Win, Paul was amazing in both. I pet sit for a woman in New Haven CT who is an instructor at Yale, and Da’Vine was her student and she says she is a lovely person.
I watched this yesterday. Nice film. One of the better American films. I don't remember all the scratchy effects throughout the movie. Did you add them??
I don’t know if you planned on watching it or not but they put “Poor Things” on Hulu and it’s definitely not what you usually watch but it was enjoyable… it’s a sci fi/ comedy with minor Horror elements (I wanna warn you also the movie isn’t straight up sexual but there is a good bit of sexual content) I don’t know if it won any awards but it was nominated for a whole bunch. I personally think you’ll enjoy the costumes and set designs.
Absolutely agree with every part of the Wrap Up. Its just a crowdpleaser that doesn’t have anything new to say or makes any interesting choices. (Like for instance Maestro atleast had a very unique Cinematography in the sense we were looking in through doors or fences). Its not a bad film. Just not great.
Umm why does it have to relate to you as "a contemporary woman" to be a great film? The film speaks for itself, and it's not about the originality of it, it's about the characters and the dialogue. It's a lot more poignant than you give it credit for.
Because so few films actually do relate to me as a contemporary woman. Everyone looks for representation of themselves in movies. And of the 100 top films of 2023, only 30 had a female lead or co-lead. That's the lowest since 2014.

Visually I added the film overlay - it can help with copyright. But the sound stuff in the beginning was part of the movie itself.

Oh, I saw Poor Things in the theater! Loved it! (It's not what I usually watch on my channel, but it's definitely what i watch normally.)

Yes, I noticed that about Maestro too. The scene where they're arguing and the parade is going by outside the windows is my favorite.
