Omg i LOVE THE MARVELS! It’s like a comic book coming to life! The camera work, colors and the action! Omf Brie ❤ she delivered the best Captain Marvel ever - obviously Carol now is for the first time ever - on her own skin! Such a development omg! Her invulnerable hero side and her vulnerable humanity. She started jaded and tired with all the pressure on her shoulders, alone.. and ends up loving being part of a team! We saw more layers to Carol’s personality. She couldn’t act on her max power, always holding back, so they wouldn’t randomly switch. Plus the fact that the bangle Dar-Benn wore weakened her. That made they think about real Great team ups! Awesome. Oh Kamala oh boy!!!!! She’s a delight! Monica so cool! Everything here is amazing. Their chemistry is out of this world! Goose and the Flerkittens! ❤ The flaws are normal, nothing we haven’t seen in the MCU before. Love it so much! So good to see my fave Captain Marvel back ❤
I highly recommend X-Men 97. It's the best Marvel content since Infinity War (2018) set within its continuity, so you don't have to worry about MCU spoilers or watch orders. Like Spider-Verse, it's connected to the MCU by the multiverse but shares no story elements from what you've been following since Iron Man (2008). I've yet to see The Marvels, minus the end credit scene, so I can't speak on the film. I will say that introducing X-Men characters into the MCU by universes is interesting. Still, I hope they use something other than the Mutilverse to bring Mutants/X-Men into the MCU. Difficult to explain why X-Men or Mutants were never in the spotlight throughout the history of the MCU, but anything's better than "Hey, they're from another universe and now live in the MCU". But regardless seeing universes like Earth-838 from the Multiverse of Madness does give us a taste of what the MCU could've been if Fox and Marvel came together during Phase 1, a universe with The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four alongside each other since day one. It was a universe where Charles and Reed Richards fought Thanos while the Avengers, X-Men and Inhumans defended Earth. But yeah, X-Men 97 is peak Marvel.
To be fair to the mcu we do have mutants like namor and kamala. But mutants like the X-Men inside the prime mcu universe have yet to be introduced. Variants like 838 Xavier exist but we'll see what marvel decides to do with the main universe
I just found your videos and have enjoyed watching your reactions. It is nice to see someone else my age range enjoying the same things I do. In regards to this movie: TL;DR: All of these events are from the comics and needed information to explain future events in the upcoming movies. 1. The wedding to the sing-song aliens was in the comics and an important pre-cursor to events of Secret Wars to be included. 2. fun fact = Flerkens are an important race who are actually intelligent. Also, important pre-cursor to future events for the audience to know how their ability works and I am sure that is why they chose this way to explain it all in a fun way. 3. Carol has her own PTSD about the Kree race in general since she was held mentally captive by them and the Supreme Intelligence. I am not making excuses for her indifference. Trauma does manifest in many ways. Also, she did not realize should was powerful enough to consider re-igniting their sun to even consider it until after Monica gave her the pep talk and then showed how powerful Monica was herself right afterwards. I believe she would have tried it earlier if she had consciencely realized it was on option. 4. The hammer carried by Dar-Benn is the same hammer carried by her brother, Ronan, in Guardians of the Galaxy. I hope helps understand the content a little better. This movie still could have been better. However, it was necessary in general to pave the way into the next phase. I just wish they had put more effort into it. For example: they could have put more effort into the sing-song race information and spent more time there. They barely touched on their abilities and still did not show how they do powerful magic with their voice joined together in song. It was kind of implied during the one scene, but not clearly at all. Not sure if that was a fail or they left it ambiguous on purpose.

To be fair to carol she didn't know she could restart a sun until monica told her she could. But yes, she could've done that the whole time for hala but she just never bothered trying. Again its bad for the hero to be that indifferent towards saving people but much like your reaction to the kitty flerken escape its so outlandish that I like it. It makes carol kinda a villain which sucks but its such indifference towards helping a whole planet of people she used to think she was one of that i like it. Its so bad its good imo

According to this film appear to be "she got married for a marriage of convenience and she's been partying in a singing planet". I somewhat enjoyed this movie. As a part of the the MCU, I would grade it a C+ probably. It was worth watching and kinda fun, but had some parts that just didn't work. I did love the kitten-palooza, that was hilarious. And as you said, when they hit that needle drop I totally cracked up. It was just so silly. But overall the humor in the film seemed forced, not organic like the Guardians of the Galaxy films. It didn't make much sense to me why Nick Fury would bring Kamala's entire family up to the space station. It would be like the Secretary of Defense bringing the entire family of one pilot aboard an aircraft carrier during an active combat situation. Why bring them into danger? He should have had an agent just get them to a hotel since their house was damaged and that would be that. However, I have to admit I do love the Khan family more than most of the non-powered characters in the MCU. I do think it is funny that Carol Danvers is now a Disney Princess, hahaha. But the whole musical world (which our heroes abandoned to its destruction) was silly. I think the whole "super powers entangled" was just a way to nerf Carol because we have seen her destroy massive warships in both of her previous films. She would have had no trouble mopping up this invasion force otherwise.
Yes, I love the brother! I would love it if he became Kamala's "guy in the chair." But yeah, it did seem weird that she lacked confidence here. She's one of the most powerful of all and yet, she didn't know what to do so many times. Just a weird way of making her go on an emotional journey that she kinda already went on in her first movie.
@@OldLadyReacts Well, that was a lasting complaint of the first movie, that Carol seemed emotionless. It didn't bother me, it just seemed poorly written. So I think they tried to make up for that here with little effect because again not that well written.
Don't worry. Even most of the fandom didn't notice The Marvels either. It is considered the first official mcu flop in box office. Films during covid got a pass and a bunch of them aren't exactly profitable due to high budgets and fancy hollywood accounting. But this film is budget wise the single largest comic book movie flop ever. Bigger than batman and robin or superman 3 in terms of loss. And it didn't get a lot of people watching it on disney plus. Few people saw it. :(

How you feel about the phase with not knowing where its going is how much of the fandom right now feels. And the fandom is kinda turning against marvel because of it. Its kinda a rough time in the wider fandom. The restlessness to get a new phase 3 where all the time invested builds up to a satisfying experience like how endgame did is being demanded by the fandom right now.
And that does seem kind of unfair of us to expect that. It took so many years to come up with the Infinity Saga, we should just shut up and let them do what they're gonna do. Like my musician friend says "don't bother Mama when she's givin' birth!"
Was carol busy saving people? The skrulls don't seem yo uave been saved. The kree weren't saved. Earth wasn't saved. Something i really really like about secret invasion and the marvels is how much of villians carol and fury are portrayed. I think its completely unintentional by marvel but carol comes across as having spent decades since 1995 just kiving it up on a disney princess musical planet and fury just used child skrull soldiers as his spy network to take credit. Its kinda messed up to make carol this much of a villain. She is a hero in the comics. With fury it makes since he is an anti-hero in the comics. But in the mcu it tickles me that these 2 are just kinda villians for decades. Tony was kinda a villain too with all his constant mistakes like Ultron.
Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think about all that!! Maybe it'll become clearer as the movies go on. But I never got the sense before that she was doubtful about her abilities. That seemed out of character for her here.

Ant-Man and Wasp 79%, Iron Man 3 78%, Thor 76%, Captain Marvel 45%. So something funny is going on, if the audiences that have rated it like it but it tanked at the box office.
Its kinda messed up the khan family just took Monica's mom's house but whatever. Its so bad that i just don't care. Carol is not a very good Auntie Carol

That's crazy, because it's not really bad. By DC standards, The Marvels would be great. I just expect a higher level from the MCU.
