Petition for a reaction to Frieren: beyond journey's end anime. It's different than most shows and will be a contrast to fast paced story of attack on titan.
One of the most rewatchable movies of all time, and NOT in a "so bad its good" way. Its just incredibly fun and entertaining. And genuinely well made. Filming on location and using actual sets is such a difference maker. Had they filmed in front of a green screen, it would be so much less pleasant to watch
This, The Mummy and Raiders of the Lost Ark got me obsessed with history as a kid. I doubt I'd be a history teacher today if not for seeing this movie.
He wasn’t burning her for her collection. He was admiring her dedication to hunt down those artifacts to make the collection. It was history nerd flirting and she liked it.
I think it was a slight burn that she appreciated because she called them treasure hunters as an insult, and he said he appreciated the effort she put into hunting down all that history, basically calling her a “history hunter”.
Im going to just assume that you take the wrong things as flirting, not just in movies but in real life scenarios as well. That scene was a dig at her for essentially being a treasure hunter herself but looking down on them for the same thing. Which is why he made such an emphasis on saying "It mustve take you a long time to hunt down all that history."
@@sugarbomb1346 I got that. 🤣 You’re funny with your assumptions. Yes that is part of it, but not all out like their reaction and what you’re saying. Also, showing their similarities and him understanding her passion. That’s why he knew she would touch and admire it enough to use her inked prints. Their very next interaction at the museum. Not flirty at all? That came from nowhere? Like, you can call me crazy but I know you’re the same way. 😉
I think it was an attempt to draw her attention to the similar nature of their shared interests, as those who would pursue and preserve history and artifacts, to try to get her on board. Felt more solicitous than malicious. The Gates family weren't plunderers, they were guardians of the lost treasure and history. That was a nice bit with Ben Gates being "knighted" by his grandfather upon discovering the family quest for discovering the treasure, to establish them as noble and worthy of the pursuit and recovery of it❤
A lot of times Oak usually has very deep and serious comments and demeanor, so to see his child-like enthusiasm for this movie (also a favorite of mine) elevates it so much more!
You guys should really watch the Da vinci code. It's similar to this with all the mystery and wonder. The movie still gives me chills. If Oak hasn't seen it he will love it.
This movie has a special place with my whole family. I went to the theater with them when I was 6. Truth be told I was a menace as a child. When the third act started, I whisper in my mom's ear "its the pipe". My mom had no idea what I meant until the moment at the end of the movie and she then thought in her head 'there is hope for you yet'. Love this movie and we quote it all the time.
one of the few movies i actually like seeing cage in. not saying hes a "bad" actor they just need to put him in movies that suit him better. like these two and con-air
That beginning, when the kid bows his head and then we see Cage raise his, that is one of my favourite transitions in cinema. So good. Great flick. Wait, does this mean you haven't seen CON-AIR?!
Christopher Plummer has had a wild career. Among his many famous roles, he also played the Duke of Wellington in "Waterloo" and voiced Charles Muntz (the villain) in "Up".
Oak getting chills at the treasure room part: it’s the score!! The score of this movie is TOO GOOD, it gets me every time. I’m glad you guys reacted to and liked this! Looking forward to seeing you watch the sequel 😎
Maaan I love how much Oak loves this movie 😂 when I went to DC I was so excited to see the locations in this movie (most would go for, ya know, historical value) but when you go to the National Archives they have National Treasure merch in the gift shop and I was living for it!
In 8th grade, my history teacher was out sick for a while, and we had like 8 substitute teachers. No joke, no teacher knew what to teach us, so I am pretty sure I have seen this movie about 20 times. In just a manner of 1 week.
I'm with Oak on this one - have seen it countless times. Between this and the original Tomb raiders with Angelina Jolie .... can't get enough of treasure hunting escapades! Roll on National Treasure 2 🤩🤩🤩🤩
I’m glad to see you guys like this movie as much as I do. Too many people dismiss it because it’s not “historically accurate” instead of giving it credit for being such a fun ride with enough “history” to make a mystery. I will stop on this any time I’m flipping channels and find it.
I love seeing Oak’s enthusiasm for a movie. I love the blind reactions but watching fans with new time viewers are always my favorite types of reactions 😄
This is unironically one of my FAVORITE movies as a lover of American history. I don't care if it's cheesy, it's a perfect combo of suspense, humor, romance, history with an all star cast.
this is one of my favorite movies of all time! Nic Cage just nails his performance and the story is top-tier. plus, I love that most of it is shot in my hometown of Philadelphia 😊
as an 80s kid who worshipped Indiana Jones, this was a natural progression. I love these movies, however schlocky they are. The Angelina Tomb Raiders too. Very similar vibes.
Remember, Sean Bean only did things of 'questionable legality'. He teamed up with Nic all legit to find the treasure legally. He only bends the law when he needs to.
I drive about 3-4 hours every month each way to see family, and this movie (and it's sequel) are two movies I have permanently downloaded on my Disney app to play during my drive. I don't have to look at the screen to know exactly what is going on. As Oak said, these films are huge comfort rewatches for me. Nick Cage is great in both these movies.
You liked this one, I'm pretty confident you would really enjoy Sahara with Matthew McConnaughy , Penelope Cruz, and Steve Zahn. Unusual plot, very good acting, action, and humor. Like National Treasure and Hunt For Red October, I've watched this one a number of times.
Omg I forgot about Sahara! That one is FUN! For my treasure hunting Matthew McConaughey, I always go to Fool’s Gold (my favourite). I would love for these guys to watch either of these. Both!
Oh I did like Sahara … why don’t they do the Dirk Pitt , Clive Cussler books like they’ve done the Bond ones, I don’t get it, they’d make a great franchise 😊
This is genuinely my favorite movie and has been since I was a kid. I’ve watched it so many times that at one point I knew all the words lol. I love the second one too! I’m so sad we never got a third in the series because they literally set up for it and never delivered.
My favorite line(s) in the movie are: “People don’t really talk like that anymore” portraying Ben as an honorable man-almost ‘boy scoutish’-who puts ‘right’ before ‘self.’ This is something that I think strikes a chord with many in the audience who want to believe in the fundamental goodness of people, especially when there is so much badness all around us.
In undergrad my friend group would watch this movie at least twice a semester. Our college was pretty remote with not much to offer in a nightlife so we made our own fun with movie and game nights with people in the dorms. Imagine a late Saturday night at 2am, with snacks, chips, and queso/salsa. Drinking cheap booze from Walmart and doing shots every time Riley says one of his great lines. It was a great time.
THE MOST PATRIOTIC OF FILMS, A CLASSIC i make my sisters watch this movie every 4th of July, im not even kidding (note: I am in grad school as a historian, and the unblinking ahistoricism of this film is *chef's kiss*)
In one of my anthropology classes, I once wrote a paper about why this is a better movie than Indiana Jones even though Indiana Jones is supposedly the anthropologist. lol
Fun fact: for some reason 3 of the supporting actors in Angels and Demons are from Denmark. It’s pretty random because we don’t see many Danes in Hollywood blockbusters.
I live in Nova Scotia and know several of the crew that filmed the oak island show as they worked on a show I was apart of. You guys should really come visit. The back roads along the ocean are absolutely gorgeous for a nice easy drive about an hour or so from the city and the whole south shore area is worthy of a nice visit from the sea caves, historic lunenburg, picturesque mahone bay, the lahave bakery and so much more. Hell, I would gladly be a tour guide for a few days!
I love watching this movie,I also liked how Nicklas cage and the girl was flirting and solving the mysteries together and that they actually respected each other's abilities.
Love all these treasure Hunter movies. Also used to watch the show Relic Hunter which aired between 1999 and 2002, starting Tia Carrere and Christien Anholt.

I saw this movie way back in middle school and my history teacher put it on for me and my classmates during a lazy day. And I instantly fell in love with the movie. My teacher also had hanging in his classroom a double sided theater used poster from when the movie came out which was so cool!
My Dad grew up for a time in Nova Scotia and went to the island as a child. He went back last summer with my sister's family to visit some family graves, and other places and they stopped by the mainland side of the causeway.
MASSIVE Oak Island fan here. I have been obsessed with that story since before the show came out. The Templar connections blow my mind! The history and lore of the Knights Templar is fascinating. I am right there with you on what you're saying Oak!!!
I loved the national treasure movies! So many good films that you guys react to that I've forgotten about or been a really long time since seeing and this is one of them! I'll have to put this on for my kids to watch too.
Yes! This is unironically one of my favorite movies. I was so obsessed with it & people couldn’t understand why 😅 Riley is my favorite. I think I knew all his lines at one point lol Love how gleeful Oak looks through the whole vid. Man after my own geeky heart
"Boromir, I'm so disappointed in you" lmfao, I'm a diehard LotR fan, I've reread the Silmarillion like 3 times and I've rewatched the films idk how many times - but this was actually the first movie I saw Sean Bean in (I was 4 years old when I saw this in theaters with my family), so when I grew up and he was in Game of Thrones and LotR I got the reverse whiplash
That's an interesting trajectory. Lol. I like it. I first saw him as Boromir. I bought a copy of GoT in 2012 that had a subtle picture of Ned on the cover, but it was so subtle that I thought it was just art. I also didn't know that season 1 existed already. I was like "wow, that guy looks like Sean Bean" so I pictured Ned as Sean for the whole book. Didn't look into it until I finished it.😂😂😂
I've also seen this movie a few dozen times and always enjoy it. Same for the second part. Also great and worth seeing. I hope you make a reaction video of it too.
I love both National Treasure Movies!! I don’t remember how I got so obsessed with this movies but I’m glad I found them! I never got into history in school but this movie just captures you! I’m so happy you guys are watching it! And Yes Oak I know the feeling of watching this!! Love watching Mason Quinn’s reaction to it!!🙌🏻🙌🏻
At 34:12 when the goon bemoans "why does that never happen to me?" The first time I saw this in theaters someone yelled out something like 'Cause youre evil ya fuckface" good times..
Fellow Oak Island fan here 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️. It's a tradition that me and my Mom watch it every week till we finish the current season. We enjoy seeing what else they will discover and we are hype to see how much more of the tunnel will they be able to get too (we haven't seen this week's episode yet).
Oak, I get goosebumps, too!! This movie is one of my favorites. For the 4th of July, our family set up a projector outside and watched it with popcorn, candy, ice cream -- I recommend it!
Sooooooo pleased you reacted to this!! It's one of my all time fave movies and Riley is my favourite character, I really hope you react to the 2nd one too!
I've met Rick Lagina when I did my Oak Island Tour in 2019! (I live in NS haha) Him and his nephew brought a cooler of drinks for our tour group because it was mid August lol. I was the last person to talk to him and he full on asked me if I believe that there's something hidden in the island. I told him there's too much evidence to completely dismiss the idea, that you never know basically. He was pleased 😂 I have a pic , met another 'cast' member a lil later on too 😅 Love the Oak Island mystery so much!
I LOVE all the "top pocket" finds it's always a "bobby dazzler". I've watched Oak Island from the start and Tuesday nights are always date night for me and my fiance. Love it!! "National Treasure" is a great movie.
This movie is just flat out fun. I am old enough that I was able to read the original published story about Oak Island all those years ago and I have been fascinated ever since and I have seen every episode of the show. As kids my parents took us metal detecting all the time and we would go to the corner store every month when the "True Treasure" magazine would come out. Could not wait each month to read all those treasure stories!
This was FUN!!!! Everyone was great in it and SEAN BEAN LIVES! What was your reaction? What did we miss?

I loved the national treasure movies! So many good films that you guys react to that I've forgotten about or been a really long time since seeing and this is one of them! I'll have to put this on for my kids to watch too.
I been waiting for this one. Seen this in the movie theater when it came out.
Yes! This is unironically one of my favorite movies. I was so obsessed with it & people couldn’t understand why 😅
Riley is my favorite. I think I knew all his lines at one point lol
Love how gleeful Oak looks through the whole vid. Man after my own geeky heart
"Boromir, I'm so disappointed in you"
lmfao, I'm a diehard LotR fan, I've reread the Silmarillion like 3 times and I've rewatched the films idk how many times - but this was actually the first movie I saw Sean Bean in (I was 4 years old when I saw this in theaters with my family), so when I grew up and he was in Game of Thrones and LotR I got the reverse whiplash
Now this is a treat. One of my favorite less serious series, so excited we get at least one newbie on board!
One of the funniest and fun treasure hunt movies I've seen! I'm glad you're getting to see it! 😂❤
This was great, a lot of fun! I really hope you do the next one! One of my favorite reaction channels to watch 🥰
A rare occurrence where BOTH movies are really fun ❤
I wish they did a third they really cast a great trio 👏🏼
I LOVE all the "top pocket" finds it's always a "bobby dazzler". I've watched Oak Island from the start and Tuesday nights are always date night for me and my fiance. Love it!! "National Treasure" is a great movie.
Nicolas Cage is the true National Treasure.
He's an American hero
This movie is just flat out fun. I am old enough that I was able to read the original published story about Oak Island all those years ago and I have been fascinated ever since and I have seen every episode of the show. As kids my parents took us metal detecting all the time and we would go to the corner store every month when the "True Treasure" magazine would come out. Could not wait each month to read all those treasure stories!
This is one of my favorite movies! Thanks for reacting!!
Another fun action/adventure movie that involves “historical myth/legend/conspiracy theory” is Sahara.
Yes!
Heck yeah
Love that movie!
