  • Let's check out this NATO French Military Individual Combat Ration. The RCIR is the French Armed Forces' equivalent to the US MRE. Instead of a single meal it provides a soldier food for 24-Hours. Rations from France are regarded as some of the very best in the world and for good reason, these things are tasty!!

In France, there is a well-known combo, duck foie gras with fig jam and a light dash of balsamic vinegar. When I saw you putting jam on the pie, I was sure you were going to have a good surprise. I really liked the fact that you were testing different mixtures, adding chocolate to the rice pudding, etc. we lack better energy drinks and better eating utensils in our rations.

I've had rations from a dozen counties, French is my favorite. Quality is 10+ and it comes with enough accessories to heat and process your food. Just add water to some. I heard they actually have gourmet chefs over see the making of these. I wouldn't doubt it. Fantastic!!!

God damn, that is, by far, the best ration I have ever seen. Usually there's some stuff I'd personally not touch but it all looks really good. I have a feeling those aren't being handed out constantly on deployment.

Great review dude. I have enjoyed every French RCIR I have dived into. If you get a small can of the pickled tuna it is absolutely phenomenal. The apricot jam is great as well. There are just so many great components in these rations.

Very cool Amigo! These are great rations. I have tried 3, and, due to my luck, never got one on film. LOL. Always A malfunction. The Nougat bars, failed me on all. Smelled like paint thinner. Rest of all components, were excellent. Those folding sporks, not much use, but they are cool. Mine are here somewhere. I have done the same thing, with the salades, just not tuna. The ones I tried, did benefit from heating, in my opinion. I am glad you enjoyed the majority of the food. Peace from Ky. John.

The French ration is excellent save for four issues. 1. The matches are hopeless. Like truly hopeless. I had to use a lighter. 2. Once you take the plastic wrap off the cardboard box perishes pretty quickly if it comes into contact with moisture. 3. There is no dairy whitener for the coffee or tea which can be a problem if you like milk in your hot brew. 4. The weight due to lots of cans makes carrying three days’ worth of rations a punish. Other nations are moving to retort pouches to save on weight.

OooOH HOh HOh HOh HOh HOH! We have Le Escargot in our-r-r-r MR-rEs! No? Seriously though the French MRE gives you the best Accessory pack ever which I consider to be vital in any emergency situation!!! They also give you extra fire/stove tablets which can be used for making an emergency fire!!! The trash bag is also extremely important and can be used as a small makeshift tent if you can tack against a large boulder or cliff side and a fire heat that trash bag tent to over 90 degrees which could save your life in a cold weather situation or environment!!!! I find that to be essential and extremely useful!!! Also the tissues are great fire starting material as well as toilet paper! mylar blankets are small and easy to include! All of these things can fit easily a bag. Along with anything else can be helpful even ext bullets! and anything that will fit into the bay

    • @raideurng2508

The French are well known for doing more with less in terms of military procurement. Why not use civilian items if they meet the requirements and are cheaper? Something I never really understood about US MREs, but the US makes a shitload of MREs so economies of scale I guess.
