Dutch MRE Review | NETHERLANDS Armed Forces Ration TASTE TEST 24 Hour | Military Meal Ready to Eat

- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- We are taking a look at a Dutch, Kingdom of the Netherlands Armed Forces, 24 Hour Modular Combat Ration. Impressive would be an understatement in describing this European contemporary to the U.S. MRE or Meal Ready to Eat. I don't think I've encountered a ration meal yet with as many drink items as this one contained. As a whole it was well-thought-out and quite comprehensive, not to mention tasty to boot. This is one of the most difficult to obtain military rations I've had the pleasure of reviewing and I wouldn't have had the opportunity to do so without a very generous friend and viewer sending it my way.
Thanks for watching!
Huge thanks to Sunshine SideofLife77 for sending me this awesome ration. Check her channel out here- / @sunshinesideoflife7710

Dutch MRE Review | NETHERLANDS Armed Forces Ration TASTE TEST 24 Hour | Military Meal Ready to Eat
I always seem to watch these when I’m starving
I get so dang hungry while editing 🤣
Ha! Me too 🤔
A bit late to the party but just discovered your video. The PAPR KORIAN MIX is a mix of paprika spice and coriander spice.
Such an odd choice considering a lot of people don't like coriander.
@@user-pc5qj2ix2c I believe it's a bit more subtle when it's not fresh, and most likely the paprika is overpowering as Dutch people seem to like that.
@@VinzHeathen That's fair, and yeah paprika powder is in everyone's spice and herb cabinet here lol
actually we do have flameless ration heaters, but they are not included in the ration. they are transported seperately because its logistically easier. (chemicals, permits airfreight etc.)
Those mess tin are only still use in cold weather enviroments i believe with naphtha burners
Its funny but most of the dutch ration can be bought at local supermarkets . Like the jams , pates and even the travel lunches. And for a long time you could get those oldfashioned tins with emergency rations.
There are a few different compositions as well , like cold weather suplements those are realy masive .
When i was in the dutch navy we often made jokes about them on how on earth would be able to fight if we spend most of the time eating.
😂 That's a good point. It would take all day to finish off one of those 5000 calorie monsters. Thanks for checking the video out! It's always cool to hear from someone who served.
You did an excellent review guy!
Thanks!
That is a great looking ration one of the biggest also. The rollo worked really good for me I was really impressed with that hygiene item add. The Dutch mess kit was first one I got and I still love it one of the most versatile sets I have. Awesome Review!
It was a very solid ration for sure. I use that mess kit all the time lol.
Long time since I was in the Dutch military and the MRE's definitely have changed for the better. You can stretch this one over 48 hours easily. I like the spicy stuff they put in there. These aluminium messtins are good but the newer ones in stainless steel even better. I still use them in the field even direct on an open fire.
Great review, i like how you actually eat more then one mouthful of the mains unlike other reviewers.
Dutch ration looks really good hopefully one day can get my hands one.
😊
Thank you so very much. A Dutch ration is definitely worth a try. Merry Christmas!
We can deliver these rations to you!
Yeah the Dutch do 24 hour ration packs well.
They are pricey but never disappoint
Thanks for the review
Agreed. Thanks!!
its a scam really, its just a bunch of off the shelf snacks stuffed in a zip lock. its all sugar no fats, these arnt field rations or mre, its a extended snack packet for a hike
What a treat of a 24 hour ration! This ration community rocks. Such a fantastic gift , sunshine always finds a way to spotlight greatness.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I try and share with others when I can. This is one of the best Mre's IMO.
She went above and beyond sending me this one. Such a generous gift.
@@sunshinesideoflife7710thank you so much for sending the ration/mre 😊
Thank you for sending in the ration Rachel :)
if the drink is caked like the orange lemonade then add a splash of hot water to melt and dissolve the drink mix then stir after dissolved you can add the cold water.
Thanks for the review my friend!!! Looking foreward to more!!
Thanks for Watching it! More to come!!
I’m full just watching this video.
It gave me the Ration Sweats
These are the older generation, we have newer ones today. The content is mostly the same though.
I personally am a fan of the Dutch mountain/artic rations, they have 5000+ calories and freeze dried mains, the mains are really good. I do not like most of the flameless heater main courses
Cool! I find freeze-dried food to be superior to retort food for the most part usually.
This was an amazing ration and review that to you and Rachel take care guys
Thanks brother! I really appreciate her sending it my way.
In Australia you can by the rollys in camping shops.
☕️☕️
Great review.
Thank you!
Looks good. Another ration I'd love to try. Everything looks good. Wish the US would take some ideas from other countries. Ours looks skimpy compared to the other nations. TY for sharing it with us. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for checking it out! 😊 I agree the US needs to step up lol
Another excellent review! That dinner portion looked especially fantastic.
What about putting the creamer in with the cocoa? Would it have made it creamier?
That would have been a really nice add actually. I put a coffee in with the other cocoa and that was really good too.
I would love to get one of these. Great review bro!
Such a great review, I loved your commentary! 😂
I think mixing that hot coffee with at muesli would be pretty good
In order to make and great flavor, use citric acid to apple juice, and tell me what flavor it is??
that looked like oe awesome ration !!!!!! would love to get my paws on one of these one day
It was good stuff! So glad she sent it my way lol.
Awesome review RR sorry I missed the live
No problem my friend. Thanks for checking it out afterwards!!
papr and korian are abbreviations for: paprika & koriander
Another great episode
This got changing his mind while drinking the beverages, coffee is bad, cut scene, comes back coffee is good. Same with the powdered tea, artificial orange flavor, not getting much flavor, cut scene, comes back, tea is good. Are you full of it dude?
Very cool RR ! Nicely done Rachael. That is one of the largest 24 Hr. rations, I have ever seen. Now, how do you sort and divide all of that? We shall see your choices. Breakfast menu looks solid. Good job at mixing components. Lunch looks just as good. Dinner looked good as well. Very nice, 24 hr. ration. Glad you enjoyed. Peace, John.
22:42 That is a mix of paprika and coriander spices
That makes a ton of sense. Thanks!
Thats a big one!! Looks rather thorough...lol looks more like 2-3 days worth of food!
Yeah you could easily make it a week on a couple of these if you had to.
I've had one of these myself. I agree that the porridge was a cream cheese taste to it.
Glad I'm not the only one lol.
@@ReadinessRations there is whey powder in it.
@@gaajeshoek215 I figured some of these would have added protein.
Cheesy milky…..that scares me great review
Muesli-COLD Porridge- HOT You made a bodge job of that muesli!!
Eh. I quite enjoy hot muesli.
you are sooooo underrated!
Papr is short for paprika in Dutch so it is koreander paprika spice mix :)
Thank you!
Paprika also means Pepper in Dutch. But this is a spice blend..I loved it..
@@sunshinesideoflife7710 No it doesn't paprika just means paprika in dutch.
Pepper is peper.
while listing off what he smelled in the one pouch he said Cumin...
I heard Human. 🙃
Paprika / koriander spice mix....
Makes sense
I am part Dutch my opa was in Dutch army in world War 2 I lost family members in a concentration camp and my opa was captured by Japanese and put pow camp
“Edge of summer”?! *angry beaver noises*
Triggered?
@@ReadinessRations Haha, I just keep reminding myself that southern humidity and hot temperatures at night would ruin me.
The only problem with Dutch MREs is they make you pay for half.
Your editing is exhausting to listen to. Its like you dont breath.. There's never more than half a second of pause.
Apart from that, nice video!
It's that way on purpose. This video was over 1.5 hours long before editing. I'm not trying to waste anyone's time.
What's Ardense?
It means something like 'from the Ardennes' or 'Ardennes style'. The Ardennes is an area the south of Belgium/northern part of France. It's where the battle of the bulge took place.
Any drugs in the package
O hell no. As a f1 guy i get PTBS from the dutch anthem
😂
One of the only good EU countries.
