How To Bottle Tomatoes the Easy Way Using A Water Bath Canner

  • Tomatoes are the easiest produce to preserve. Home bottled tomatoes are the secret ingredient in many Griffiths recipes. Store bought tomatoes in a can do not compare with home grown and bottled tomatoes. Today I show you how easy it is to blanch and use a water bath for canning. A water bath is just a big pot of water that you put your full jars in and boil.
This recipe and many others are available at griffithscookbook.com

I’ve never seen anyone buy all those tomatoes to can them before!! :) That must have been expensive. Is there a reason that you don’t grow your own anymore? I grew up in a family of gardeners, my parents and grandparents always did it. But I didn’t start gardening until I turned 40..lol I started off with 38 tomato plants, and just as many peppers, cucumbers, etc. I basically planted a salsa garden. Now I’m 50, and I’ve branched off into squash, beans, watermelon, and etc diff fun things, but I still grow lots of tomatoes and peppers and cucumbers. This was a horrible year for tomatoes, for sure!! I don’t can them, I freeze some. I did can some salsa in the past, but I just like freezing better..lol But you have an awesome system going there! Fun to watch! Thanks for sharing, and God Bless!! 🙏🏼

When my dad makes homemade salsa with his garden tomatoes , he uses the knife to make an x mark on the bottom of the tomatoe and then puts it into the boiling water, then it pulls off quick and easy from the bottom

But back in the day no one had ac you’re ac was you’re bedroom window open at night. If you ask anybody 55+ and mention the hot summer tomato nights you will get an immediate smile on there faces.

Wishing you all the best!! (Check out Homestead Family YT channel. She offers a free class to learn to water bath can, starting with a Roasted Tomato Soup. She goes step by step, and it’s very easy.
