Linda is Mexican born in Arizona check out her interviews about her Mexican upbringing she sang rock ‘n’ roll in the 60s and 70s. She sang a lot of orchestra music in the 80s. You should really check out those tunes and then towards the end she went back to her Mexican roots and sang mariachi music, check out her CD called Canciones de mi’s Padres
From her triple-platinum album of 1989, "Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind." The album included her Grammy-winning duet with Aaron Neville, "Don't Know Much." "Adios" reached # 9 on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1990. You can never have too much Linda in your day. Thanks Debbie and Harri.
Linda Ronstadt’s voice just soars so beautifully, and this song showcases her talent. Thank you, Debbie, for requesting it, and thank you, Harri, for presenting it.
What a gift she’s given us. Saw Linda a few times in the 70’s and she could flat out bring it! Checkout her live cover of The Rolling Stones Classic, “Tumbling Dice,” and watch her sing it all the way through. She gave her fans everything she had, and was NEVER a lazy performer. It’s probably one of the reasons Willie Nelson’s observation of Linda have been quoted a million times when he said, “ Every man’s in love with Linda, those that aren’t haven’t heard of her yet.” She remains a special lady to this day.
From Linda's 1989 album, Cry Like A Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind, produced by Peter Asher, this is a sensational tune. Brian Wilson does back up vocals and was the musical arranger of this song. Linda's pure expressive vocals, capture the song's beauty, with her ability to deliver several octaves and totally draw you in. This live version absolutely displays her excellence. God bless her. ❤ Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Debbie. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Harri B, you'll find two great Linda Ronstadt gems if you check out: 1) Look Out For My Love (Written by Neil Young and released on her '80 "Mad Love" LP/CD. 2) Dreams To Dreams (Possibly her best song which was featured in the '91 "Fievel Goes West" movie soundtrack. Enjoy!
Thanks Harri. I totally agree with you about her live performances. She was never afraid to do her own music live and she nailed it every time. Regarding this song, it should be mentioned that it was written by Jimmy Webb and arranged by Brian Wilson, who also provided backup vocals on the studio version. Great reaction Harri 🌺✌️
Yeah, Harri. Great reaction. I love all her music butI usually prefer her live performances. More emotion, more energy. By the time a song is recorded and singing it again live, she moves always onward and upward, striving constantly to refine and grow that incomparable instrument. ❤
Thank you for continuing to bring this beautiful songstress back to the mainstream, Harri. Linda has one of the most beautiful voices in the history of music and so many of her songs are worth spreading to the world. There are a couple of songs I think you would adore if you haven't heard them already. First is a song called "Carmelita", written by Warren Zevon, about the plight of heroine addiction and Linda absolutely knocked it out of the park with her version. Another song I suggest was written by JD Souther, who she dated in the 70's. Souther wrote or co-wrote some of the biggest hits by the Eagles, as well as, some he released such as "You're Only Lonely". But the song she recorded by him is called "Simple Man, Simple Dream". It is short but powerful and her vocal is angelic. The last one I suggest is a song she recorded with backup vocals by Dolly Parton. It was before her, Dolly and Emmylou Harris created the amazing group TRIO. The song is "I Never Will Marry". It is so haunting and the blending of her and Dolly's voices will make the hairs on your arms stand up. Whether you make a video of the first reaction or not, they are all worth your time to listen and they will make you fall even more in love with Ms. Linda Ronstadt. Thanks for doing such a great job every time.
I so wish everyone could have seen Linda in person . We used to go to the sunset strip in LA very often as a group .Linda had the people's focus as soon as she started singing.
Thanks, Debbie! Linda's sweet voice was regularly heard in my childhood household, along with the likes of Babs, Karen, Carole, Olivia, Helen, and Carly.
Debbie - I am so glad you submitted 'Adios' for many positive reasons. Linda can sing just about anything, including those from her talented father's strong Mexican influence. Great submission and review, Harri.
on some rare occasions a person is born with a god given talent and on an even rarer occasion that person actually is fortunate to use it. Linda is the personification of both. Roll on young woman.
Very nice! If you like this, you will love her singing “What’s New”. She recorded it with the composer Nelson Riddle & his orchestra. That entire CD is fantastic!
Actually, Harri did a reaction to a beautiful live version of “What’s New” a few months ago. Just search Harribest What’s New and it will pop up. Enjoy💐
Just beautiful! Linda is one of my all time favourites. Saw her live when she toured Australia in the late 70s. Such a great concert. Love the album, "Cry like a rainstorm, howl like the wind", that this song is from. Thanks Debbie for the request and thanks Harri for featuring Linda on your Channel ❤
She said that earlier in her career she was just moving columns of air around. I actually preferred her singing before she "learned how to sing". Her voice was fuller and more natural sounding, in my opinion.
I wish you would do this again with the album version, only because it was a better recording. Also Beach Boy Brian Wilson contributed beautiful background harmony on it. On this live version, the sound isn’t very clear.
Linda dated Governor of California Jerry Brown for a couple years in the mid 1980’s, she sang “my boyfriends back” at a campaign rally during Jerry’s run for president in 1984.
Not many back in those days could not sing. Did not need autotune. Some can sing today, but you have to have looks also. The looks today need autotune many times.
Way to go Harri! You've fallen into her rabbit hole and can no more escape than those of us that have been here for decades.
Great reaction. A Jimmy Webb song, a Linda Ronstadt vocal, and Brian Wilson singing all the backup vocals, make this a delight. Thanks.

I've listened to Linda for decades and this song is a great example of her wonderful vocals.

Her voice can never be silenced as long as we hang on to our past! Thank you Harri!

Thanks Harri. Every time I watch one of your videos I think of at least ten songs I love from every artist.
I love Linda so much you can never have too much or enough of her. Thank you Debbie and Harri.
🥰
Lovely lovely Linda. Well chosen Debbie Chang!! 👍👍👍
🥰
There's nothing that Linda couldn't sing beautifully. More power to her and hope she's doing well now.
She could sing a recipe, a phone book, instruction booklet....
She has been fighting Parkinson's disease. 😢
@@normaedietrich9410 She was wrongly diagnosed, she actually had progressive supranuclear palsy

She is often even better live
Great choice Debbie and Harri 👍🏻
🥰
Her Mariachi songs are my favorite!

Poor poor pitiful me by her is a gem!❤

Lovely Linda. I saw her perform once in the 70's & again in the 80's. She was perfect. She seemed shy.
I had forgotten this song...just beautiful!!!
Thank you, magnificent. The album version is very controlled, this ia a little more spontaneous. Both are great.

What a Sweetheart. Loves the Music 🎶. Hello Lowell Canyon LA. 🪴⌛
You should listen to the album version. This live track is good, but the studio version is another level.
She said that earlier in her career she was just moving columns of air around. I actually preferred her singing before she "learned how to sing". Her voice was fuller and more natural sounding, in my opinion.

this was written by Jimmy webb and the harmonies were written by Brian wilson of the beach boys
She hired a backing band ,Don Henley and the late Glenn Frey were recruited.....the rest is history!
Written by jimmy webb. My favorite

Adios Harri
You should check out Glenn Campbell's cover of this song.
well she'll miss him and at the same time not have to hear his bickering
Where does Debbie Chang get her facts from 👀
And to think that she hates the sound of her own voice…
I guess a lot of us are like that, think we sound funny on tape!
