Great reaction… Linda is from Mexican descent. She’s from Tucson Arizona. She made a full album Canciones de Mi Padre to celebrate her Mexican roots. She is an amazing singer and can sing anything. Sadly, with her illness she is unable to sing anymore. ❤❤❤❤❤
@@BoganDoleBludger Of course she's of German descent, her Great-Grandfather immigrated from Germany to Mexico in the early 1800's and married a Mexican woman. No different than any German immigrating to the U.S. That doesn't change the fact of her Mexican heritage. Her father was a Mexican of German/Mexican descent who grew up within his Mexican roots, simple as that!
Linda is of Meixcan/American decent, her parents and grandparents where Mexican of German decent. If you haven't seen Mariachi Live in person you haven't lived! Thanks for reacting to this beautiful music, I'm Mexican /American like Linda
She is an American icon, having sung so many different genres, from being the queen of rock music, country, American standards, opera, Broadway and traditional Mexican folk music, no one in American music history had been so successful across so many varied musical genres. She is of American heritage, the album she did in Spanish remains to this day the biggest selling non English album in US history, which says a lot given the US is one of the largest Spanish speaking countries in the world
A quote from Linda Ronstadt: "I didn't speak very good Spanish as a child, so I thought Spanish was the language you sang in and English was the language you spoke. To me, Spanish was always a musical language." Oh and if you can find the CD of the album, there are English translations of the lyrics on the booklet insert.
Linda is just special. What you say is true about the Mexican culture. I was a teenager in 1960 and worked in the lettuce fields with Mexican braceros. They sang constantly throughout the day and were very fun loving people.
Her Father was of Mexican/German descent and she grew up listening to her Father's favorite songs. Thank you for the reaction, you guys rock!! You should find a way to have the lyric's translation on screen, so you can follow the storyline, I think it would add to your appreciation of each song.
She's outstanding! A woman that can sing just about anything and everything; beautifully, emotionally and with such pondus! Love her very much. I hope you want listen to other genres as well. There's nothing this artist do but amazingly Gracias y saludos desde Valencia España ✌️
You must come to Mexico and enjoy our different cultures in live, no only the music but also the food, the rich cultural expressions, the landscapes etc. I promise that you will fall in love with this country.
You can not listen Mariachi music without longing for a tequila and then feel nostalgic, sentimental and happy at the same time. Viva Linda!!! viva Mejico, from a Colombian mother living in Miami. Thank you for your reaction.
I can't comprehend what I'm hearing when she delivers the most chilling sounds out of that little feminine package of delightful power. She makes me shake inside with wonder.Linda you are loved by many
You have to remember that the songs on this album are older than dirt and have been sung by the best of the best over the years. That she was able to make these songs her own despite that fact shows how truly talented she was.
The heart of the joy comes from the bass(the guitarron) then the violins play the role, combined with the trumpets come along, but the highlight Linda's singing voice!
I have been to Mexico back in 1980. I went to Guadalajara, Mexico City and Nuevo Leon. I went with 2 friends of mine had family in Mexico City and Nuevo Leon. I really enjoyed Guadalajara, it was so beautiful and so much Greenery. It reminded me of home in Los Angeles, Ca. the weather there was perfect. I have a niece who just recently went to Guadalajara, and she loved it. She had gone with her boyfriend in February of 2024. He has family there. She showed me pictures and it has grown so much now. I was looking on UA-cam, Homes for sale there and Oh My God! they are so beautiful and modern with magnificent pools. There are many Hi-Tech companies moving there and it is growing fast. Maybe one day I will buy a vacation house there. If God is Willing.
I can´t believe that this woman who sings Blue Bayou is singing in Spanish, is singing Mexican music with so beautiful accent. Thank you, I just love the voice of her.
Domenica's reaction at 1:58 brings joy to my soul. I can see the emotional reaction elicited by the Mariachi. Like Linda, I am a mixed American of Native, Mexican and Irish ancestry. Many of us don't grow up speaking Spanish due to the racism our parents or grandparents experienced, but it doesn't prevent us from embracing our culture. When I visit Mexico, I'm always surprised how gracious and accommodating the Mexican people are despite my not knowing the language. An experience I haven't received in other Latin American countries. Linda’s Father was in a famous Mariachi band all his life and music was sang and played in their house and family til this day. My parents are both Italian and they moved to Canada with 2 kids and I was born here. I speak and think in Italian. I am Italian :)
Chavela Vargas, a mexican singer born in Costa Rica put it very well once in an interview. When told she wasn't born in Mexico she said mexicans are born wherever the heck they wish to ("los mexicanos nacemos en dónde nos da la re-chingada gana")...Being Mexican is more of a mind set than a nationality. Great reaction to a great and forgotten singer.
Linda grew up in New Mexico on a ranch .Her father was Mexican and loved mariachi music and Linda did grow up speaking Spanish! This album was made for her father.
Linda Ronstadt is fourth generation Mexican her great great great grandfather settled in Sonora, married a Mexican woman. Lynda grew up understanding some Spanish you will see in many TV interviews in Mexico. They will ask her a question and she will respond in English so she understands she’s just not comfortable speaking. You need to react to the Tribute to Linda in the Kennedy Centers Honors in 2019 (the Tribute made from the United States Govern) and the Induction and show to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Linda...in 2014. Saludos desde México!

Absolutely, her whole family used to sing them. She may not be fluent in Spanish, but it’s still part of her childhood and upbringing, having a Mexican father and grandparents. Many of us have the same experience, and we are no less Mexican!
I heard you ask about songs that are mariachi/traditional mexican music but with an updated or modern sound. You can listen to Angela Aguilar "Dime Como Quieres" with Christian Nodal.
