Doesn't matter what kind of music you listen to. EVERYBODY loves Linda Ronstadt. ♥️ Same goes for Karen Carpenter.
When l made this statement, l wasn't trying to make people fight with each other. I was born in 1960. We heard a little of everything on a.m. radio & t.v. shows. I love my Country Music(not todays). My favorite is Donna Fargo. I think Patsy Cline is the greatest. Also love Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson & many others. I also liked L R, K C plus Judy Garland, Doris Day, Debbie Reynolds, even Glenn Miller & many others. Why do we have to make it a contest of who we like or hate who we don't like as a singers? I wasn't a fan of Janis Joplin, but l don't hate her. We all have our favorites. Let's all be pleasant to each other. A lot of us grew up with great music. On the radio, you would hear a Carpenter song, Bob Dylan, "blowing in the wind," & Jeanne C Riley, "Harper Valley P.T.A."
When l found a country radio station l switched to f.m. & stayed there. We all have different tastes. So have a BLESSED DAY & show each other some respect laced with kindness.☺️😉

When Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris formed a trio, the music they made was heavenly. See for example: ua-cam.com/video/2P6vVN200vg/v-deo.html

She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "Desperado", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). She is no doubt one of the very best female vocalists ever...in any genre. And Linda could sing anything. She was powerful, delicate, fun, intimate, feisty....and couldn't be simply boxed in to one kind of music. When she did covers, it was like she uncovered them for the listener to hear in a new and beautiful way -- much like Angelina Jordan today. You really should explore more Linda. She is my absolute favorite from the 70s....and every guy wanted her. As Willie Nelson said about her, there are 2 kinds of men in the world " those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her".

@@BC-ui9yt I've heard her talk 'music', and she seems to be one of those who absorbs everything they hear from around them. her childhood was big on music, but don't think she went to any notable school of music, she just actively absorbed music and theory like a sponge. Quick mind, self taught.
      Here's a classical musician's review of her singing: ua-cam.com/video/4Tmluvy-5OM/v-deo.html
What she DOESn't say is that I'll bet this arrangement is heavily influenced by Linda herself. The way the arrangement is very very clever, but stays off her notes. Listen to the sensitivity she brings to the lyrics, the many ways she can 'ornament' a word, syllable or even a solitary vowel. She can take a single vowel and morph it into an ever changing sound that captivates your ear. That's her. a skill seldom self taught. One gift that Linda gives to us is not 'studied', it is the natural harmonics in her voice. All voices have harmonics or we'd all sound like tuning forks. Her harmonics are clear as a bell which aids in her delivery. Also, she manages the dynamics of her voice like the author of a play - build to a crescendo, let us down, and build again to a higher crescendo, and resolve at the end better than 99% of all other singers. Could go on, but I'm sure you see or even already saw what I heard.

She is from Tucson, she and Stevie Nix both were on the music scene in the70s and 80s, both Arizona girls.
Linda Ronstadt hired a band to open for her, and ended up launching the career of one of the most influential bands in American history, the Eagles.
She performed in one of my most favorite light operas of all time, Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. Her vocal range in that was eye opening to me, and I'd been a huge fan since I was little.
I married into a.massive Hispanic family, and I had grown up as one of the few white kids in my class. I was raised with mariachi music, we had amazing mariachis that played at every parish festival, every fund raising event for the Catholic grade school and high school. My Midwest Irish parents fell in love with it too. When I married my husband, that music was one of the very first things I bonded with my father in law over. I would come to Anaheim to go with him and my husband's uncles to the mariachi concerts.
Linda Ronstadt released an album of mariachi music in tribute to her father and his heritage. That album was one of.the best gifts I gave my father in law. He played it constantly. I ended up having to buy it for him again because my husband and he were driving from Arizona to California and my husband kept popping the tape.out of the tape.player (he's not a fan, which is why I went to the concerts with his family and not him. Lol). His dad would push it back in and hit play. This went on until my husband popped it.out of the tape player and chucked it out the car window.
Canciones de mi.Padre. Her Trios albums with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, her performances with Johnny Cash, the Eagles, Aaron.Neville. You will find something to love about all her work.

She also sings in Spanish.. She had a huge-selling album in Mexico.. She was allowed to sing with a well-known Mariachi band. This is a great honor in Mexican music. Mariachi is extremely hard to sing to because of the crazy syncopated rhythm....Linda was also part of a group called ...The Trio.. with Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris.. Really great harmonies on every song on the album.. You will eventually get to Linda's ,,, Blue Bayou..One of her greatest..

Yes You almost had it right Canciones de mi Padre stands as the biggest selling non-English language album in AMERICAN record history.
"And she wasn't allowed to Sing " She told the Record Company that she was going to record that very album !

She got the songs from a book her aunt Luisa Espinel compiled: "Canciones de mi padre: Spanish Folksongs from Southern Arizona". Her aunt was a singer, dancer and actress who had studied music in New York, Paris and Spain, and was in a film with Marlene Dietrich.
