So far, she's only in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm waiting for her to also be inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame, becoming the 9th person to achieve that feat. She certainly deserves it.
Wasn’t advocating for or against Dolly in the RRHoF but the fact remains she’s in kinda pointless to argue that. If memory serves me Dolly tried to decline saying exactly that, “I’m not a rock singer” but was lobbied by fans and other RRHoF members to accept and changes her mind and did. Bottom line of my comment was Linda had certainly sung much more country material than Dolly has Rock so if Dolly is in Rock (and she certainly is) then Linda deserves recognition in Country HoF
December 23, 1978, the "Living in the USA" tour in the Fabulous Forum, Linda brought Smokey on to perform this song. One of my favorite concert memories. 🥰
Went to see her in free performance of Pirates of Penzance in Central Park in 1983. Ten minutes into show a thunder storm hit canceling show before Linda came on. Still upset that that happened and missed that opportunity to see and hear her perform.
I absolutely adore Linda! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to her version of the 1939 song “What’s New” with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. She is incredible! She did 3 albums of these ‘war-era’ torch songs. All of them amazing. Love your channel!!!!
I have made this suggestion numerous times when they get so pumped with her performances. Can't seem to crack the code. Once they listen to one, they will want more.
Linda's cover of "Tumblin' Dice" is better than the Stones version! 'Long, long time' is one of the best slow tunes ever and another you've not yet done. Cheers.
Linda is number one of my all time top female vocalists, she’s just incredible! There are just so many good tracks for you guys to check out. “Long Long Time”, “Heart like a Wheel”, “Somewhere Out There”, “All My Life” with Aaron Neville….there are just so many! ❤❤❤

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I aways thought that Linda looked like she could be sisters wiih Cindy Williams from the tv show Laverne and Shirley.
She is one of the few lady vocalist that could sing ANYTHING!! It broke my heart when she lost the ability to sing...to think about it even now saddens me. Next to Minnie, Linda had the most angelic voice. From all accounts, she's beautiful Inside and out.🥰
Ronstadt did a very personal song about a long distance trucker in a song called WILLIN' dedicated to the writer of the song thsy she lived with in the 1970s. Her version will blow you away!
"She can sing anything. Put opera on the list ..." Yup - she sang the Gilbert and Sullivan opera, the Pirates of Penzance! Indeed, she can sing anything. Love, love, love her!
Penzance was an operetta, a comic opera, and unsurprisingly she was gorgeous (in every sense of the word) in it, both on stage and in the filmed adaptation. But she also did a spell in 1984, on stage of a legitimate opera: Giacomo Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’, performed in English, as the dying Mimi. opera you said? try her film adaptation of gilbert and sullivan's 1870's or 1880's comic romantic opera 'pirates of penzance'. i absolutely adored it! you have to remember that this is an opera written in queen victoria's time in england, and with the humor of that time. linda plays the female lead, and i thought it was great 🙂.
Smokey did this the best, but this is a DAMN good cover by one of the best female voices I ever heard. Glad you focused did this so many of your subs can know this cover even exists. She did a great job
Linda is an absolute treasure. The next one from her has to be A Long Long Time. It’s a very beautiful but heartbreaking song. And her voice is amazing as always ❤
I seem to remember in an interview or her biography that Linda mentioned having a crush on Smokey Robinson. If you want to enjoy a performance of both of them singing together, they perform a duet of Ooo Baby, Baby live on a television show. The look in her eyes tells you how big her crush really is. But their voices really tell you how much they love singing together. Next up, POOR, POOR, PITIFUL ME, or her cover up the Rolling Stones song, TUMBLING DICE.
There's a fire clip from Atlanta in 1978 where she segues from Tumblin Dice into Poor Poor Pitiful Me. She's playing with Waddy Wachtel as her lead guitarist on that tour and he's on fire doing the guitar parts that night.
In a catalog filled with great performances, this is one of her very best songs! I wish I had the chance to see her live back in the day. It's so sad she can no longer sing.
I know last year you did her original version of Blue Bayou from 1977. The sheer power of her voice when she transitions to the chorus for the first time is what made her famous.
Linda Rondstadt HAS done a comic opera, actually! lol She was in a Broadway production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance! I think there's a film version of it if you want to react to that. It's impressive, of course, and she nails it! High soprano songs. She stars in it alongside Kevin Kline and late 70-early 80s pop star Rex Smith(who you should react to, also. He does a wonderful song called You Take My Breath Away that was very successful for him.
She has done opera. And I'm pretty sure I've seen comments and requests for you to react to her singing the 'big band sound' with Nelson Riddle. "What's New" would be a perfect start. However, still would love for you to react to Linda's version of "Tumbling Dice". I know you've already done the Stones reaction. But, as has been mentioned, even Mick Jagger fell in love with Linda's version. Even rewriting some of the lyrics specifically for her (from a female perspective).
Linda Ronstadt her voice defined a generation, Linda had one of the greatest voices of my generation she did so much Country, Rock, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Latin, and the list goes on. When she did a song it didn't matter what song she did she made it her own, Amazing Talent and Performer.
4:55 , while not opera, I remember Linda in Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Pirates of Penzance back in 1983. Exceptional. There are also recordings of her doing a La Bohème. You’re not kidding when you say she can sing anything and blow it out of the water.
@@ChrisW-17 The reason Linda recorded "Desperado" in the first place, was that the Eagles weren't having much success with it. So she thought, if she recorded it and got the song known, the boys, who were all her friends, would sell more copies. Turn's out, she was right.
Love this cover. The steel guitar and bit of Country Rock infusion fits it well. Props to Linda's backing band too (Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards in particularly).
Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards (who was in the Stone Poneys) were in the group Bryndle with Karla Bonhoff (who wrote 6 songs that Linda recorded) and Wendy whose last name I can't remember.
I was lucky to go to two Linda Ronstadt concerts back in the day and in one she had Smokey Robinson come out and do this song as a duet. It was beautiful!
Linda Ronstadt takes the cake with the most -- thirteen total -- Hot 100 hits (almost all in the Top 40) that were all cover tunes: “Blue Bayou”, “Heat Wave”, “Hurt So Bad”, “I Can’t Let Go”, “It's So Easy”, “Just One Look”, “Ooh Baby Baby”, “Poor Poor Pitiful Me”, “That'll Be The Day”, “Tracks Of My Tears”, “Tumbling Dice”, “When Will I Be Loved” and “You're No Good”. In fact, she barely had any hits that were written for (or first recorded by) her.
Thank you! I have been waiting for this! This is by far my favorite version of the song! Linda is my favorite female vocalist and I love singing with her records, especially in the car. She sings with so much emotion and can do any genre.
Sure wish you'd do 'Long Long Time' and 'Love Has No Pride". Been listening to her since the 60s and these are my 2 favorites. Would I steer you wrong??
Gorgeous important pipes. Powerful enough and tender enough. A songwriter's champion and deeply beloved by players that were usually less than gallant. Linda is a very special songbird.
Another side of Linda’s voice that would be wonderful to react to is her singing big band era songs under the direction of Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra. There are several albums to choose from, and all of them are so good.
She has done opera. She scored rave reviews for the Pirate's of Presence on Broadway. Take a listen to that if you really want your minds blown!! She was phenomenal!!
Linda did do an opera. In 1983 she played Mabel in a film version of The Pirates Of Penzance. You should do a film reaction to it. It is an absolute hoot.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee not sure if blaming is the word i'd use, lol, but it's true -- Frey and Henley met as session musicians backing Linda, and gelled so well they later asked her if they could be let go from her tour so they could form a band of their own.
I remember when I was a young man I was so in love with Linda as most young men were and still are. She is and always will be my favorite female vocalist. She is just so incredible.
You should really take a listen to Linda’s cover of “Heatwave”. Also, there’s concert footage of Linda from a show she did in Atlanta in 1976 singing “Someone to Lay Down Beside Me” that’s incredible. The piano intro to the song is worth the price of admission…👍🏼👍🏼
You nailed it. Linda can cover anything and make it her own. There are so many songs to dive into. Long Long Time, Love Is A Rose and Love Has No Pride leap to mind. So does Down So Low originally done by Mother Earth featuring Sandy Nelson who wrote it. Also I Can't Let Go originally written for and recorded by Evie Sands and made famous by The Hollies. Those two songs should be done first by Mother Earth and Evie Sands.
Wow so happy you reacted to Linda today . She is one of my favorite singers ever. Her voice is so beautiful and she is timeless . I can listen to any of her songs and it is like listening to it for the first time every time. Thank you so much hope you do more of her.
I just have to say, I’ve been been watching y’all all week. I’ve been going through a really tough time, and I just absolutely love your energy. Amber, you’re so beautiful. You guys are an amazing couple, and such beautiful energy. Your message is always on point, and I just absolutely get such a joy out of your music, and your personalities. Thank you so much for all you do. You’re truly inspirational. Don’t forget to react to the Eagles. 🥰
@@bethcrumpton476 are you serious? God…he’s such a drama queen…he’s big on blocking music everywhere. I guess his reputation for being a real ***hole is holding true. Such a shame.
Funny you should mention opera because she did Pirates of Penzanze on Broadway, which is light operetta. If you don't fancy that but want an example of her real range, you could always try her Spanish songs again. "Donde Voy" and "La Cigarra" being just two. I love how much you genuinely enjoy Linda's voice and personality. Thank you for continuing to promote her to others. ❤
Ah, lovely. I always enjoy you two experiencing a new Linda Ronstadt song. Really looking forward to when you start getting into the wonderful stuff she did with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra!
Oh, you lovely children! Opera. Gilbert a d Sullivan were Opera Comedy composers in the 19th century. It was made into a movie musical, and Linda Ronstadt plays the lead. Look it up!
Linda's voice is one of the greatest of all time. Few even come close to her wonderful talent. Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me (written by Warren Zevon (Werewolves of London)); Long, Long Time; Silver Threads and Golden Needles; Desperado (an Eagles cover); Tumbling Dice (a Rolling Stones cover); and Love Is a Rose are just a few of her greatest hits. Thank you for your reaction. I can never get enough of Miss Linda. Bye.
I've always loved her duet with Hoyt Axton on Lion in Winter. Their voices just meld together so beautifully. He had such a deep bass/baritone and her high bright soprano wove around it so perfectly. My Mom had several of Hoyt and Linda's albums when I was growing up.
Love, love, love Linda! I still have my much played and treasured vinyls from the late 60s and forward. So sad that her voice has been silenced. Her music will live forever. 💜
You guys mentioned how Linda is so versatile. She can sing--and HAS sung--just about every style possible. You have had a taste of her range, but there is so much more. She had a New Wave phase in the 80s (Check out "How Do I Make You"), recorded a trilogy of Great American Songbook classics like "What's New" and "Someone to Watch Over Me," and did operetta (check out "Poor Wandering One" from The Pirates of Penzance). Truly one of a kind.
You guys are going to be reacting to great Linda Ronstadt songs for a long time to come. The lady was not shy about covering other musicians songs and, like you said, making them her own. "Heart Like A Wheel" is my very favorite album of hers. Every song is great. And Cissy Houston sang back up on several of them.
Linda in the eighties made three albums of standards from the Great American Songbook. Some of my favorites are What’ll I Do, For Sentimental Reasons, Someone To Watch Over Me, and Bewitched Bother and Bewilderd
I have Linda on vinyl, 8 track, cassette,CD & phone. So, I’ve got her entire career! ( Also shows I’m old😂) I know you would love “ Love Has No Pride”. It’s sung from her soul and she will break your heart too.
Linda sings my life! Losing her voice & music to Parkinson's is a tragedy for her and all of us!
She has Progressive supranuclear palsy, which is also degenerative in nature. 🙏for Linda.
One of the incredible Ladies of the SUPER 70S,!!
Ditto Ditto Ditto!
Agree!!!! Such a legend!!!!
She was amazing. ❤
The best female vocalist of the 20th century, bar none!
Linda was the best that ever stepped up to a microphone.
The voice of a generation, Linda Ronstadt can sing anything. 😎🍺
It's really impressive the range of music her voice can handle! And can sing with any duet partner as well!

@@bethcrumpton476 are you serious? God…he’s such a drama queen…he’s big on blocking music everywhere. I guess his reputation for being a real ***hole is holding true. Such a shame.
You don't know me, but I'll be sending positive thoughts your way. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
@@Verlopil thank you! I feel that good energy. Much love 🥰
They have done Eagles and got blocked.
Bye.
“Long long time” should be next for you guys. An absolutely beautiful song
Andrew Gold on guitar and background vocals/harmonies.
Country, rock, folk, pop, opera, broadway, standards, traditional Mexican music. She did it all at an elite level. She could absolutely sing anything!
Thanks for reacting to this true superstar. I had the fortune to see her in concert. This was the best concert that I’ve ever attended.
I've always loved her duet with Hoyt Axton on Lion in Winter. Their voices just meld together so beautifully. He had such a deep bass/baritone and her high bright soprano wove around it so perfectly. My Mom had several of Hoyt and Linda's albums when I was growing up.
Linda did, in fact, do light opera. Check out "Poor Wandering One," from The Pirates of Penzance.
I love that you two recognize and appreciate brilliance when you see it.
Check Linda Ronstadt out singing Buddy Holly's "It's so Easy (to fall in Love)". It's great!
It's about time you do Linda again....PLEASE do 'You Can Close Your Eyes', it is beautiful!
She could sing anything! I was lucky enough to see her in the 80's with The Nelson Riddle Orchestra.
I love everything Linda does. When I hear her songs, it takes me back to when my mom I would listen to her tape in the car and sing together.
Linda in the eighties made three albums of standards from the Great American Songbook. Some of my favorites are What’ll I Do, For Sentimental Reasons, Someone To Watch Over Me, and Bewitched Bother and Bewilderd
Linda’s live cover of The Stones, “Tumblin Dice” is a must. She remains a pro’s pro. Her wide ranging catalog is like no other.
I have Linda on vinyl, 8 track, cassette,CD & phone. So, I’ve got her entire career! ( Also shows I’m old😂) I know you would love “ Love Has No Pride”. It’s sung from her soul and she will break your heart too.
Yes! Please give a listen to Love Has No Pride. It's a great song and not that well known
"Down So Low" is Linda at her most soulful.
Perfect!
