In this family vlog we just got the GQF Digital Sportsman 1502 cabinet series incubator & this is just what we needed here on the homestead to be able to hatch the quail & poultry that we want to hatch. In years past we have not been able to really handle a lot of eggs, bc of the limited space our smaller incubators had, but now with the GQF 1502 Sportsman Incubator, we should be to handle any egg hatching job that we want to handle.
The GQF Sportsman 1502 offers an accurate digital thermostat with LCD display of Temperature and Humidity. An on-board computer monitors systems and the environment every second to keep itself updated and to share this data with you. Electronic egg turning control, audio & visual indicators and a standard easy view door highlight a number of standard features. This is a complete incubator and hatcher. In addition to having three automatically turned racks, it has a hatching tray in the bottom of the incubator. So if you are just getting started with a small flock, all you need is this one incubator. Set the eggs each week or so and then hatch the oldest setting eggs at the same time. Settings are rotated among the three turning trays so that the hatching tray can accept the eggs from one of the setting trays each cycle.

Now that's an incubator!!!Wow!! I look forward to the eggs hatching. What's up Peaches!! Mary Carl is so adorable.
You should definitely hatch a emu egg they are like dogs very friendly I think it would be a great addition to the farm
Awesome. Thanks providing great information to help encourage future farmers that there is always a way forward.
I’m so excited I just bought a used 1502 Sportsman…. It was Nasty! , but it’s working it took a lot of cleanup 😊I need more eggs 🥚
I posted a few video shorts about it😊 yesterday I put eight dozen of my barnyard mix in there I just couldn’t wait…
Hi Mrs. Cog Hill, Jason & Mary Carl, Mrs. C. H. I love the deep colors on the walls too. They look so nice with the light window trim work & base boards ❤️ your home is beautiful 🥰👍☺️ Y’all have a great day, 💗 Chris-Raleigh NC
Self Blue Old English game bird bantams are adorable and are taking over my farm I love them so much! Try a few I bet you'll love them too

That's a fantastic incubator! The quail journey should be fun. I'm going to laugh when MC wants to keep and name them all.
The Taj Mahal of incubators! Praying for a HUGE success rate for those quail. I just love listening to them sing! Shalom Cog Hill!

Today I realized I am addicted to your channel. When I can name Mary Carl’s chickens you know I’m hooked. Lol
Awesome video thank you
That's a really nice incubator. Thanks for making this video, we are looking for one now.
Good luck 🍀
I have 2 of the 1502's. Big change of hatching rates! My first hatch was 60 Pekin eggs. THEY ALL HATCHED! The eggs were laid here so I'm sure that helps. I can tell you it's easy to over hatch. I require a deposit now I've been stuck with chicks a few times because folks back out.
Can’t wait to see them hatch.
I started hatching quail last year. Not the bobwhite but corturnix. My first hatch rate was a little less than 50%. But since then I've been spraying my eggs before I incubate them with a water and hydrogen peroxide mix. And now I have about a 90% hatch rate. My little spray bottle holds about a cup of water and I put a couple tablespoons on peroxide in that. Another thing the baby quail are so small even regular starter feed can be too big for them. So I put in in a magic bullet and grind it down a bit for them.
BOOM Thank you for sharing this!!!!
3:48 you're welcome
You will love your sportsman. Just keep water in it and it pretty much takes care of itself. I’ve had 4 of them and never been disappointed.
That thing is cool! Hope it works well for you guys.
Wow learned something new today.
Thank you for sharing....
Oh wow that’s pretty awesome
What incubator that is lower priced would you recommend
I would def get the Hova-bator 2370 www.gqfmfg.com/hova-bator/2370-electronic-thermostat-hova-bator/
Good morning cog family. It's a balmy -9 here this morning. Great warm up video.
Holy Cow!!!!! 😲
@@CogHillFarm still jealous seeing your hoses working all winter lol. I'm so tired of busting ice in the water buckets everyday. Somehow the chickens ducks rabbits and pig make it everyday all day.
I have the same incubator and it’s amazing, I have great hatches with it. Your going to love it.
I also bought the clear door for it so I can see what’s going on better.
Thx!!!!
Congrats on the new incubator! That is a nice one... I hope you have a good hatch rate!! I haven’t forgotten your Pheasant eggs... will ship when she lays again...
Thank you guys sooooo much!!!!!
We hatched some death layers, and they are great! Very pretty, very good layers, and very good personality’s. The death layers roosters seem to be pretty calm as well.
They are on our wish list!!!! We’ve been talking with a breeder and she’s supposed to let us know when she has some ready!! TFS😊
Cog Hill Family Farm we got our hatching eggs from Shepperd ranch up here in Idaho. great people and they've got great quality birds, them death layers do tend to be on the spendy side though.
What a wonderfully edited video! And that drone view was amazing! 💗🇨🇦
Awesome new tool to have on the homestead.
Have a great day☃️☃️☃️
Try hatching an Ostrich egg.. 😂 Thanks for the great vids, I proudly wear my Cog Hill farm t-shirts in South Africa, I love ‘em!
WOW! what a far reaching vlog! Aren't they just awesome? SO positive.

i Am getting ready to order this incubator.
Congratulations and Good Luck !
Happy birthday MRS. COG HILL and Happy Valentines Day...I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL...You have a wonderfully H:)ppy child and a Lov'n Husband...Peace :)
Does anyone watch Vivian Tries? She hardly ever reads the instructions. Lol! Me either! Thanks for your video!
🤣🤣🤣
Love the reading on shirt
The GQF increases hatch rate. I had 82% hatch rate with my GQF 1502. It is also extremely easy to use.
I just bought a gqf incubator with your link. I can’t wait for it to get here.❤️
We have a huge incubator but always use the little ones as we are retiring and don't want as many birds. You are going to love that machine :)
Thx!!!
Good afternoon! Still trying to catch up with December and January videos 🙂 as I was away travelling though England and Ireland. I leave again on the 18th for Turks for a summer break. It will be so nice to enjoy the warmth of the sun from the beach. 😉 all the best with your success rate on the quail eggs. 🇨🇦
A Hatcher is a great addition also with wireless Thermostat and Humidity level will help also good luck
Thx!!!!
Cog Hill Family Farm no problem when you start to hatch your own eggs a turner or a couple of them with they help hatch rate you place them in the tuner then collect them for the week then place them in the incubator well this the way we do it and load once a week. Have a good one my friend.
Do you have any advice on what to consider when looking to buy hatching eggs? How do you know they are fertile? Thanks for sharing your farm experiences. I love watching you guys.
That’s some serious hatching man 😳 good to know the low down on quail hatching. I’ve toured with the idea
Can you hatch a some French Blue Copper Maran chicks? Looks nice.
Writing these down 👍👍
bumble bee junction has the same brooder it works great
That’s one awesome incubator! I see lots of chicks in your future! 🐥🐥🐥
:37 eggspert nice!
Thanks for the information.GQF should give you a job. Glenn
Super tip for your incubator...use distilled water :)
MaryCarl hun I thought you weren't getting any more chickens😳🤣😂I know how that chicken Math goes😉💞
Man I got to have you give peaches of thank you because I won a bet on the super bowl from her picking the winning team
😁😁😁
That's going to be great haveing it😁
I'm learning so much from you'll about chickens, quail, and how to care for them. Thank you for that. But something that I haven't heard you address is what to do with the eggs that don't hatch. Do you throw them away in trash? Compost? What about when you candle them early and they're not viable? Can they be boiled and fed to pigs or dogs?
We don’t compost the eggshells bc they really will take years to break down enough for plants, and earthworms hate them and avoid them. So we just break them up and throw them in the woods or you can crush them and throw them in the oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes and this is a good source of calcium for them👍
❤️
Have you ever try hatching shipped eggs on that?
I was curious what humidity you use during setting and hatching for chicken eggs with your gqf incubator. I have the 1502 and I can't seem to get over a 50% hatch rate.
Great incubator but where are the ventilation holes?
It also helps to spray them off with some hydrogen peroxide and water. And you might want not stack those egg racks. It will be hell for them to pip out of their shells.
Thx
“Egg-celent hatch rate.” I see what you did. 😊
Hey Cog Hill family. You need as much help as you can get with all those eggs. I know MC is happy about it. The Cog Mahal is looking good with its new tenants. 🐣🐥🐔🐓
New subscriber! I really enjoyed this video! I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future!
Thank you!!!!
Breeding your own hybrid
chickens
Lucky little thing looked at it the other day you should get us a coupon code Buddy!
How do the chicks on the lower racks manage to get out? It looks like they are trapped between the lower and upper layer, with the remains of the old egg shell also taking up space.
Good video! New subscriber here
Thanks!!!👍👍👍
Yes, someone else commented ...emu eggs, I'd love to see you hatch them..
WOW! You guys are gonna have quail coming out ur pores!!! Awesome new gadget! Best of luck with the eggs!! I would love to see you hatch out some emu or ostrich eggs!😬 💘 LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Hey, This is great as now you guys can hatch us some Royal Palm Turkey's
😁😁😁😁😁👍
Hatch some southern Emu!
It's a space ship that pips lol!
JO JO IN VT 💕☃ 😊
☮
When it comes time for putting them below on the hatcher, can the hatcher hold do many eggs from all the racks? It looks like it wouldnt
I would love to see a video on peacock eggs!
I've never heard of a sizzle. But, I have heard of a frizzle.
Melissa Coleman it’s a silky frizzle mix
Will you be getting the water reserve system to add water at hatching stage?
how long from the time you get the egg do they need to get in the incubator to be able to hatch? i see they way y'all brought them home that they weren't kept in anything but a basket?
You have roughly 10 days. Just remember that most poultry/birds will lay several eggs & get a nest full before they start sitting👍👍👍👍
Do you have a Maran that lays really dark copper eggs? If not I think you should try for one of those. Sooo pretty.
With the heat and humidity, will mold be an issue?
It actually has fresh air ports 👍
Hey J! Does the incubator have a feature to turn off the turner for lockdown? I know there's a hatcher model, but not sure we're ready to put that much $$ in just yet. Also wondering if you do batch incubation or if you try to have a weekly hatch?
What if you have a power outage? How much power does it draw? Could it be connected to a vehicle power in an emergency?
what about hatching an emu egg or even maybe Mandarin duck eggs? I think they are called
How about Buckeye or chanticler? I'm contemplating both of those breeds and a sneak peek of them would be awesome!!
I will be in a northern climate though.
I love the shot in the air where all the chickens and ducks follow you its like there saying here comes daddy ❤🌹
👍👍💕
What are yall gonna do with the quail invasion? Are you 0lanning on eventually eating them or do you use them just as pets and for tick control?
Hi there I’m wondering if you can help me out? I’ve ordered some chickens from a hatchery (first flock) - they have blue layers but they are calling them Azure Blue” as the breed name- I can’t find any info on this type of chicken. Is it a slang or blanket name for any breeds that lay blue eggs. Any insight you can provide I would bee so grateful. Happy farming!
I’m guessing 1 of 2 things: So this is what I’ve found about a lot of hatcheries. They will buy a lot their chicks from the same place & just call them something different from all the other Hatcheries for marketing purposes, or the other thing is it could a certain hybrid breed that they came out with and may have a patent on it and they are the only one that carries it and that’s why it’s not much out there. Hope this helped 👍👍👍
Cog Hill Family Farm thank you!!
Jason, The hens have assimilated you...you are one of them now...except you have opposable thumbs.😁See they have you and MC hatching their young..... Lol. Great video information. Thank you.
Did you say Olive Egger? Do they lay green eggs?
Im buying a incubator wanted what you bought
Thanks. Hatching silky eggs isn’t well 4 out of 12
