What I find funny is that the entire reason Margit is at Stormveil Castle is because he's making sure no tarnished can become Elden Lord and he does so by crushing their ambitions right at the start of their journey. So if you think about it, anyone who stopped playing the game because Margit was too difficult simply wasn't fit to be Elden Lord and Margit did his job well.
I was so afraid of the bosses from all the hype I heard that I basically just grinded until level 40 then I faced Margit for the first time. I destroyed him.
This is definitely true, additionally I think it’s implied that he does not trust Godrick in particular to be able to handle the tarnished; which is why it makes sense for him to come beforehand and be harder
Pretty much 100% agree with the list. Though I'd put Margit at S. His difficulty is meant to push unprepared players to explore more before taking on the challenge and I think he's pretty successful in that regard.

Radahn/Rykard are just an amazing spectacle, Maleketh is super challenging, Margit/Morgot is just so cool because of the cool variety of all his attacks.
Whenever I see Malenia all I can think of is how damn cool this fight would be in Sekiro, just imagine parrying her entire waterfowl. I know fromsoft was testing the grounds with this boss and that's why it's optional, but it's still brutal.
She is amazing in every way design, lore and attacks but then we get to waterfowl dance which is such a dumb move. She would be a perfect sekiro boss, your players moveset just doesn't compliment her at all.
Yeah, this boss straight up doesn't work in Elden Ring. This is such a Sekiro boss that once you get to her, you can just respec to a Sekiro build with Katanas and destroy her.
@@Akechifan I can see how that attack is strong against other builds. I found her to be 3nd hardest boss of Elden Ring. I personally am bad at 2v1 fights, so there were these two knights (one wizard other used sword and shield), I died sh*t ton of time more to them than Malenia. Same thing happened with that dude that eats deathroot (my fav fight). Would say the first Elden Lord was also harder for me, I figured it was a boss you had to jump a lot. You know that attack where you start dancing with the twinblade (the blood one), that attack helped me get out of the waterflow. I also was able to quickstep from waterfolw. I also was able to use summon bell that argo the waterfowl. I am a filthy casual, just saying I found her to be a damn fun fight while not punishing at all. Might just be some builds are way weaker against her.
@@darukan She also has a three-hit jumping combo when the weapon turns blue along with the two hit one...I think the first fight only has the two hit one.
When it comes to Dragonkin, there is one version that is absolutely A Tier, and that is the Dragonkin of Nokstella. Once the second phase kicks in, and he sprouts them wings and start going God of Thunder on you, that's when he goes all the way to A Tier for sure. Fun and epic as hell fight. Unless you're overleveled and thrash it before it's able to transition, then whatever I guess...
Completely agree, it sucks that most people lump it in with the others as a "re-skin" boss. In a game like DS3 where there were 19 bosses at launch it wouldve been much more memorable, but lots of people just forget it cause its an earlier optional boss in a game with over 100 bosses.
The only thing I would say I’m confused about is why Loretta is so low, but Godskin Duo is as high as C. It’s reused moves, a gank fight placed together when they don’t work well, have reading capabilities with their range attacks and don’t die even when you kill both at the same time. IMO, I’d say Godskin Duo is the same level as Loretta if not worse.
yeah i highly agree, i wouldnt put loretta lower than valiant gargoyals or godskin duo. I think those are poor duo fights and they don't even play off of eachother because both enimes are very competant without each other
def agree, while yea it is a reused boss and isnt difficult (at that point at least) it was still a fun one. godkin duo just seems cheap as especially with the revive and ur just stuck running away for half the fight.
Margit and Morgott are definitely S tier. Margit is my favorite in the entire game. He actuallly has ways to punish him, his moveset and animations are freaking amazing quality. The unforgettable lines, his lore, his gate keeping low level players. The music. EVERYTHING about Margit is just amazing. Morgott is the same, but shows you how far you have come, and his moveset is even cooler, although much easier by this point in the game.
I disliked almost everything after Morgott and Morgott. Not a fan of all the moves with slowed down animations and auto tracking moves. This is my first Souls game and I beat it three times for all achievements but the latter parts of the game aren't for me and because of that I'm unsure if I will get another Souls game again. I too used to MH combat by comparison. I did think of checking out DS3 if/when it goes on sale though but I'm not sure.
@@nuke2099 MH is my fav series and imo it has a lot of similarities with souls games. But nothing elden ring or any other souls game has can ever compare to the Fatalis fight in MHW.
Godrick is my favorite. S tier for me. He does it all. - Melee with multiple arms - Shockwaves you can jump over - Super mobile, can roll around like a madman - Jumps into the air - Gets a flamethrower that can also grab you - Throws wind/fire ranged attacks - Soundtrack is super hype - Lord of all that is golden - BEAR WITNESS!
Yep. Godrick is S tier and one of the best. > bad ass arena > one of the best soundtracks, easely in top 3 best tracks > fun boss fight > great 2nd phase > fair > you cant reach him overleveled
The reveal with Margit actually being not just a child of Marika but one of two Omen Twins born of her is phenomenal. Especially since despite being born outside the Grace of the Erdtree, he chose willingly to uphold the Order that would have seen him persecuted. There's a self-loathing and depreciation that runs so deep that he is reluctant to use his own cursed powers because he sees his own existence as a living heresy.
@Dio-xo9rv I distinctly remember the game calling Morgott Godfrey's son somewhere, but the fact that Godfrey is mourning him in his intro is all the proofs you really need.
@Dio-xo9rv Well Morgott is noted as being a demigod, and therefore of divine lineage (I mean we know he wasn't granted demigodhood afterwards, because he's an omen). Obviously he's not Godfrey's father or brother. So why would Godfrey, who was absent during the Shattering, recognize/mourn a distant relative who, as an omen, was shunned and hidden from society for most of his life, even as he became Lord of Leyndell?
Both versions of Margit should have been in S in my opinion. The first time you fight him he does destroy you but his move set is ridiculously good it makes him fun to fight. And the final time you fight him his move set is even better but it also shows you how far you come since you are now the one destroying him.
Like Asmon said, as a fight itself it's definitely S tier but it's sidelined by the fact that it's a filter boss that is too hard until you've geared up.
@@bmbm1 He's hard for a good reason, because once a player is done with him they're skilled enough for the rest of the game. Which is why vordt of the boreal valley sucked, it was easier than tibia mariner.
@@bmbm1 Which is a terrible reason to put it at A. The whole point of him as a boss is to push you to explore the open world. Not quit the game and it worked. Asmon seems to think a lot of people quit the game despite it being one of the most popular games on steam of all time and having an extremely high completion percentage according to steam achievements.
Now that we are on "post nut clarity" after we finished the game I realize a thing about Malenia: The problem with her Waterfowl is how hard was to understand how to dodge it. I swear I was on my 100th attempt and still couldn't understand how to dodge it properly. On the other hand people need to see beyond this. Malenia is the experimental boss of the Elden Ring. FromSoftware went overboard with her (lifesteal on attack, insane tracking on Waterfowl Dance) to test the waters, that's why she's optional.
but for me she is the best boss in the elden ring, some people might hate her i do understand that, but once u learn her mechanics to how to deal with the waterflow dance melee solo build, it feel like as though as you dance along with her, i really love it, maybe it was just me, idk, idc want people say about her
There’s methods to dodge that attack, in my case i used bloodhound step but it’s definitely possible to dodge normally, it’s just that the way you have to dodge is very odd
2:35 lore-wise, margit is supposed to be harder than godrick. margit is there to prevent godrick from grafting your tarnished to himself, as he would become stronger than margit if that happens
Margit just fucking hates all tarnished and shardbearers. He always rides out to murder other tarnished, so I believe he is there simply to eliminate another fool who will tear the world apart to become a lord.
Elden Beast wasn’t even that hard for me, he was just annoying with how far away he moved. That fight should have allowed you to ride on Torrent. It seems like it was made for it and it would have been a good final moment with him. Instead as a melee user you hit Elden Beast once and then watch him swim like a mile away, run after him, and then watch him swim away again. Shit final boss with a really cool design.
@Kermit with an AK Naw I know I’m not alone in this. I’ve definitely seen tons of videos where sometimes he moved around a ton and is just annoying, and sometimes he doesn’t. It’s similar to how sometimes Malenia will use water fowl dance a ton and during one time I fought her I think she used it once ever.
@Kermit with an AK Torrent doesn't always trivialize or cheese fights though. Quite a few of them felt more like they were intended to be fought with torrent, and some where Torrent was available were much easier on foot. I imagine that's also build dependent as well
@Kermit with an AK lol you probably cheesed the fight and killed him quickly with over leveled weapons since you didn’t experience that. I spent like 4 hours beating Radagon/Elden Beast and he swam away so many times. Like I said the fight isn’t difficult it’s just the many things that could annoy you or frustrate you that depletes health.
The buildup and anticipation for Radahn is on the level of Artorias... A legendary warrior that succumbed to a dark power (Humanity/Rot) and is now only a shadow of his former self, but still super powerful. So yes, SSS all the way.
Its literally not lmao, artorias was a duel, 1 vs 1 against a corrupted injuried legend, the ENTIRE game resolves around him and the other knights, not only do you skip the entire fortress to radahn, but the fight is literally just a giant clusterfuck
@@SwaggerHarrystlyesminecrafter the fight might not be as memorable to you, but you can't deny that having a lot of background on Radahn being the strongest Demigod, who literally has a festival on his honor to put him to rest, built that anticipation to fight him. Not to mention even some of your NPC allies also fight along with you... Narratively it's just great.
@@zambrano8512 well i know for a fact for most people the fight was just „wtf is this? What are we celebrating? Who is this?“ i mean just think about sifs hidden cutscene when you kill artorias before going to him
Leonine the Misbegotton is what really got me into the game. Finally understanding the mechanics and feeling like you have taken down a very powerful foe without cheese really got me into this game. Will remain at the top of my list for a hot minute
@@TheSuicune7 Same. Got my ass beat so many times I decided no real bosses for a while, just wander around and kill stuff. Maybe even a few of those side dungeons. Although Leonine was tough, he never felt that out of reach like Margit was feeling. Went back over-leveled at some point and it was a breeze then lol. I'm glad I got that accomplishment and didn't just put the game down
@@billbarthel5224 it felt real good when I crushed the one before Rahadan that had a Crucible Knight backing him up. I could tell I got way better at the game
I pretty much beelined to stormville. I actually didn't discover Weeping Peninsula until I went around exploring missed areas close to end game, and I two hit Leonine 😅
I feel like the Elden Beast wasn't tested enough. Given how much it moves around, I feel like it was a boss fight designed with Torrent's usage in mind. The fact that the option isn't available to players feels like a major flaw. Malenia and Maliketh feel like Sekiro bosses in terms of design. I believe they would've made fantastic bosses in that game as well.
Elden Beast was one of the worse boss fights in the game and would have been demoted to a C for me. It was tedious and mostly boring. Radagon on the other hand should have been ranked as A-S tier on his own.
I feel like maliketh just has one too many aoe’s. If it happens after like three hits then whatever, but if he’s gonna leap off the pillars, shoot magic at me then land with a double whirlwind spin, then yeah, i’d like to get a good punish on that
@@oACDCo Yeah I enjoyed Elden Beast. It was like it had attack and defense mini-phases. You spend periods of time dodging really cool attacks, and then rush him down to get some damage in. Also, the sound effect of hitting the Elden Beast is my favorite sound in the game. Shattering a god, one hit at a time
100% agreed with Asmon on the confusion on why some large boss fights went back to the issues fromsoft used to have with huge fights where your just looking at feet e.t.c. Midir already fixed the issue but bosses like fire giant prevent you from seeing the spectacle or what is going on and ur just hacking his legs
How did Midir fix this "issue" (which I think is a complete non-issue)? Fire Giant is like 2x as big, it's a poor comparison, as Midir's height isn't anywhere close to as big as Fire Giant.
@@psykomyko730 If anyone deserves credit for "fixing" the issue its Amygdala since the arms and head were its only genuine weakpoints and the legs did next to nothing. You can beat Midir hiding under them, it's tedious and long, but its doable. Hell I would even pass more credit unto the Dragonkin soldiers since you had to go around them as opposed to under them to spank their rear. That damn belt of theirs XD
As a player that never played FromSoftware game before Elden Ring, Margit was so fucking cool! The voice actor nailed the job and the famous "Put these foolish ambitions to rest" after each death, and there were a lot of deaths for me, really made me thinking if this game is made for me
Mohg is absolutely S-tier. The "his slow attacks are a gimmick" is absolutely ridiculous. If you got hit, it's because you panic rolled. Spreading his blood fire around the area makes you have to fight even harder to stay close to him, and it does a great job of applying pressure to you for the sake of intensity. Super frustrating fight, but it drives adrenaline.
I agree with the first part , not so much the second , having bloodflame on the floor everywhere was just annoying , would have preferred him to have more moves but less blood throw spam .
@@cringeylazy Again they could have done something else to make me less greedy when fighting him , I dislike shit on the ground , I didn't like the valiant gargoyles spiting poison either , I also was not fan of Godfrey's constant stomping on the ground either , not my cup of tea . As far as the blood and the lore goes I am pretty sure the blood he throws at you is his own blood . The blood of the Outer God - The Formless Mother that you mention is only used when he uses the trident and does the NIHIL attack when he stabs the air with it 3 times and damages your health directly .
@@saula8948 I completely respect how others don’t like the bloodflame, but I personally like it. It forces you to get close to the boss and actually learn his attacks. It also forces you to pay attention to your surroundings, and jump over or roll over it. You can’t compare mohg to the joke of the valiant gargoyles. You know the bloodflame is being spread. You could be attacking one gargoyle and the other starts shitting his poison out of your vision. Again, some might not like having to toughly diverse an arena, but I personally do enjoy it. I do wish the arena was a bit bigger though. It would make this dispute, well, not a dispute.
give it a couple NG+ power ups lol. I think every boss people complain about as being too easy will show their true nature when all enemy health and damage generalizes in NG+ games and you dont have to worry about overleveling.
@@CreativeName7895 Quite a few bosses are a lot more aggressive than him in this game, he actually does give you a bit of time to breathe more than a few others if you think about it
imo it might've been cooler if i never fought margit but all of those in S tier, malenia, and renalla i prefered. still a good fight but definitely not close to the besr fromsoft has made
There are loads of other great gank fights across from games though? It isn’t like O&S is the only good gank fight. In my opinion, they aren’t even the best. And Ornstein is buggy as hell, people avoid this but everyone knows it’s true. Some of his attacks are straight up broken. And not in a balancing way.
I also played mage and found Rennalla to be pretty easy once you figured out her gimmicks. Definitely not that hard to take down with magery, was not using glintstone spells - maybe those in particular don't work well?
Yeah I fought her as a mage on my first playthrough and I didn't even notice she had high magic resistance because I just spammed rock sling the entire time.
U can roll into most of her attack apart from the first one too. The hardest part for me was the summons. U just have to get them and her in front of u which is hard when she summons the wolves
He's S tier for sure. S tier bosses are: Maliketh, Radahn, Regal Ancestor Spirit, Mohg, Morgott, Godskin Apostle (especially the Caelid one) Rykard, Placidusax, and then Godfrey in that order for me.
Respect for giving props to cinematic gimmick fights. Rykard is my favorite variation of the storm ruler boss type seen in DeS and DS3. And it's undeniable the unique experience that the Festival of War brings for Radahn.
Morgott is such a good boss it makes me glad my build was so bad while i was fighting him, cause i was doing no damage and the fight went on WAYYY longer than it should’ve but it was so much fun i didn’t even mind
Imo Morgott is the best boss in the game so far. His moveset is crazy and fast but completely fair. His animations and designs are sick. His voice actor is superb. His OST is AMAZING, you guys should really give it a try and his lore is great. The opening cutscene is probably one of the best and most badass boss intro in Soulsborne. My only complaint is that he has too little health. Like this is one of those boss that I wish it just won't end because it's so fun and engaging. Hell you even have Melina which is like the most unique npc summon in Elden Ring.
Problem is that he has such low health you dont even need to learn his mechanics, he should have had more health or generally higher stats cause leyndell was a really hard area but regardless of amy build i go fight him with hes always a pushover
being a mage, the thematics and epicness of the setting really differentiated / made fights memorable for me, renala one is definitely my favourite boss mechanics don't matter to elden ring mages
46:36 The Draconic Tree Sentinel has a fire breath horse and lightning strike abilities so I wouldn't say that he has the same move set as the normal Tree Sentinel cause the Tree Sentinel has none of that and neither has Loretta. Loretta also has a lot of magic abilities like the bow or her staff for instance which the others don't have at all. Of course you fight these "bosses" at least twice each, though. 45:11 A part of their move sets might be reused but they still have unique moves which makes them feel different enough for me to not just say that they are a plain copy of each other.
Why are people so defensive over Loretta? She is a tree sentinel with 4 added magic attacks. Draconic Tree Sentinel is a Tree Sentinel with 3 extra attacks. He's not comparing them thematically or how they look, go look up their moveset. 90% similarity between the three
you legit fight her twice once in the manor and then in the hailgtree add that with the same moves as the other sentinels and you see why its a low tier fight
for context I beat tree sentinel in 10 tries and I beat draconic tree sentinel in 150, his 2nd form where he can oneshot you with everything really changes things
I think Mogh is the 2nd best boss fight only behind Radahn, despite his attack is often delayed it's still feel fair in my opinion, it's such a fun fight and it feel really good fighting him. Every other things like the music, arena, lore etc are at it best in the entire game.
I had duel Katanas and the skill that let's you jump into the air for a counter and he spammed it against me lol he was so hard the 2ed time I faced him

So how can "the skinny one" still attack you, if it's a single boss? :) As I said, you are referring to the Godskin duo fight. Which is them both together. The OP was talking about the godskin noble, so that makes your initial comment irrelevant and untrue. Maybe you will understand it now. :)
It is too easy, though. Every other boss you're fighting is WAY more powerful than you, so then when you fight something that's exactly as powerful as you, it feels like a joke. It's a shame, because I think the concept of the fight was extremely cool.
Thing with mimic is that because it's your build, you know where the weaknesses are. Also, the AI doesn't seem to know how to use the character as effectively.

Margit and Morgott are definetly in my top 5. Morgott fight had crazy moveset, cinematography, thrilling music that makes you play on the edge of your seat AND it sometimes even fits his moveset. (Unlike Placidusax music which is 90% lame with only like 10 intense seconds.) I mean, this entire idea of a rugged old man, with horns, a scorpion tail, hardened skin, fighting with a large stick, all these signs make you feel like he is some decadent hobo. But he speaks with such authority while literally conceiving weapons OF GOLDEN LIGHT from thin air, which disappear asa he uses them makes you feel like you're fighting someone you really should fear and respect. This huge contrast in itself leaves you completely clueless about who the hell he is, adding a huge element of mystery WHICH makes him even more intimidating :D Morgott has depth to character, lore and to top those off, outstanding voiceacting. He also combines a variety of really rich literary archetypes. The king coating himself as a beggar and travelling the country, bringing justice for example. He also has strong king Oidipus vibes, a king forced to live with his curse and the great shame it brings to him, forcing him to roam (which also strengthens all this "gold covered by torn robes" vibe). Not to mention how his authority as king is not accepted by others, giving G. Martin's Stannis vibes. He's the official "Git good" fight of the game, similar to what Pontiff was functioning as (to me) in ds3. Its like a word joke sometimes, as by the time you meet him again you GOT good (Margit --> MorGOTT) All in all, I understand that he is an A as a boss, and I can partly see Asmon's point there, but as a character he'll always be one of, if not the most iconic character of Elden Ring to me. Thanks if you read it through, I just felt like I needed to somehow give way to all the thoughts and feelings this character stirred in me, hence the long comment.
He does look like a hobo despite being the King of Leyndell XD I remember saying "Did frickin Highsparrow from Game of Thrones come back from the dead, just to spank me in Elden Ring?"
I was so confused when i fought him in Leyndell, I was like didn't I already beat you twice ? Then he said his name was Morgot not Margit and I was like oh his twin brother then people said nope its the same person you just fight him 3 times.
@@Dungpie64 Omens are the physical manifestations of strong premonitions. They were hated because they brought Ill fortune and were hunted or condemned to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds. This is why you fight Mohg there too, he was a Royalborn Omen like Morgott. Their ability to manifest is displayed by the Fell Twins who guard the path to the Divine Tower for Morgott and Mohg. Morgott ends up being badass because he has two pure manifestations of his Ill Omen fight you before you face him. Mohg has the potential to be encountered in phase 1 form, until you fight him in the Dynasty Mausoleum.
I just wish Morgott had more health. Leyndell is more challenging than the boss at the end. Kinda disappointing. If you level enough to push through Leyndell, you’ll be overleveled for Morgott
I love the fact that margit was so hard. he teaches you that you're supposed to go out and explore and level up before progressing. tree sentinel does that as well.
It's kinda funny that Loretta is E because she is a "reskin" of an other boss, but the red wolf of Radagon is B. A boss wich is repeated like 5-6 times. At least Loretta got some extra melee and magic moves to her moveset.
The only downside with Loretta isn't that she's a reskin, it's that she's a reskin met at the end of the game. Radagon is repeated many times, but your first encounter with him is likely the boss itself. So Loretta loses because she's overused before you even fight her. While Radagon at least is new when you fight him. At least that's my understanding of Asmons ranking.
@@yes78 Yeah, but the issue with horseback fights is that there isn't a huge difference between them for the most part since they reuse the bulk of their movesets. Different bosses have slightly different gimmicks like the draconian horse boss spitting fire and the tree Knight horse boss having a magic reflect shield. But the movements, and various attacks are generally the same. So when you fight enough midnight rider bosses, tree Knight bosses, and the easy version of Loretta, you've pretty much fought the lot of them at a basic level. Because of this you might end up feeling like she's just a reskin with an extra move or two.
@@yes78 Yeah, once in the carian manor and then in Haligtree. I'm not saying she az an amazing boss, but the reason used by asmon why she is in E tier is certainly funny after looking that B tier magic sif.
@@Edanite Well, I don't think that was the thought process behind his ranking, because the lich dragon is also a reskin of the dragon from altus plateu just with death blight effects.
My personal top 5 is Morgott, Malekith, Radahn, Placidusax and Radagon. Margit was originally 1st until I encountered Morgott. I think he is ridiculously hard for the early game, but i think that was absolutely the intention to stone wall the player. I think he was meant to make the player think "hmm, this guys kinda hard, maybe I should go and explore and see if I can get stronger for him.
I’m glad asmon loved Misbegotten warrior as much as I did. I love the music that he shares with Oneill and Niall, and Especially the one at castle Morne, his arena is so cool. And the crucible knights are one of the best mini bosses in the game. I also loved Gideon, but I just wish he had much more health in his fight. Also morgott would’ve been an S tier for me, lore music and design are all amazing, only issue with morgott is honestly that he should’ve been a bit harder for where he was at in the game. Also what he said about malenia is true, no matter how many times a “git gud” dark souls “veteran” shows me that single strategy to outrun that attack, I won’t care. Waterfowl dance is the single hardest part of her fight because to avoid it correctly you have to be watching for it throughout the entire fight because if she does it while you’re recovering from an attack then you’re dead. It makes the fight not as FUN as it could be. However malenia’s lore and the thematics and cinematic s of her fight are S tier. Design too. Booba. Another edit: I personally loved the mimic tear fight. Especially how it will copy some of your attack patterns, for example, on my 3rd run of the game, I used 2 buffs before the fight and the mimic used those exact two buffs in the same order, and it used jumping atttacks and Marika’s hammer’s weapon art like I like to a lot.
Yea gideon could have been really cool but for an end game boss is just too squishy. The misbegotten was a fun fight but it just feels out of place in all its places. Lore wise its shit and thematic wise its shit. Mechanically great fight in particular for the early game.
@@chriscavallo1006 I agree about misbegotten feeling out of place in most places, but I think the one at castle morne feels good. The misbegotten were the servants that rebelled against Edgar and took over the castle, so I think it’s fine that the warrior is the boss of that area since he seems to be the “leader”. And I’m glad someone agrees about Gideon.
Yea Godrick is the least "cool" character in the story, he's literally born to be the weakest of his lineage and had to resort to the disgusting act of grafting to make himself stronger.
Exactly! Mohg has earned my number 1 spot. I co-op there so much and I rarely find the fight dull. So many ways to cheese with different builds, yet the boss is still incredibly hard and his stage 2 is even more insane. The delayed, yet quick lunges. Bloodboon explosions. Miquella. NIHIL! Sheesh. it's top 3 at the least..
@@mum-your You see.. If he was a boss on his own with a full health bar, I would have to consider that because he's kicked my ass way too much too, and his moveset is byfar the coolest of all the bosses.
@@benjamincorbett I'd say World & its sequel Iceborne (400-ish hours of content). They are the most accessible games and have a huge amount of quality of life changes/fixes for a less tedious experience. Also, since they're newer, the combat in general is a lot more fluid & less clunky than previous titles. Monster Hunter Rise is also a decent choice, since it's the newest game, but it was made for the Switch (now on PC too) and isn't as graphically appealing as World & Iceborne...
For me Rykard was the best one, awesome in everything and if for some reason you don't notice that you need to use the special weapon your going to have an extremely hard time. The second best one was Radagon. That Radagon intro with the signature Elden Ring music and his pose was epic as f$%^ and he is just a hard and sturdy hitter.
Personally i hate it because its not very rewarding to fight. Ive seen a lot of shit from even speedrunners where the safest thing is to use the pillar as like with smough in ds1 but often will just infinite roll and make it impossible to hit as a melee. Also if u do dodge it just keeps going to where ive had it roll 5 times in a row which is very much not fun. On top of that his rapier like weapon is incredibly fast and does a lot of dmg
The way you experience each boss has so much to do with how leveled you were for them, asmon wouldve loved alot of the low tier bosses if he wasnt overleveled.
I think the godskin apostle depends on where and when you encounter him. If you encounter him at the bottom of the tower in Caelid, he’s tough, but if you encounter him at the windmill area he’s quite a bit easier.
“If you build your character a certain way, and then there’s a boss that completely stone walls you…” every pyromancer in DS3 vs Soul of Cinder knows what I’m talking about 🙌🏼😩
Kinda dumb that he places Renala super low because of this and then proceeds to put Radagon in S while having like 97% Holy immunity... Completely ruined my Jesus run which was my first playthrough
I don't care where he puts loretta, but saying she's a copy of the tree sentinels and draconic it's objectively stupid. Besides the magic casting, her halberd has many other move variations + jumps. He just doesn;t know her moves that well because he finished it too fast and he is stubborn to admit when he is wrong.

Fire Giant suffered from that too(What EB did). I think what Asmon mentioned with only seeing the feet and ankles also added to my dislike of it since a ranged person could take in the whole of the giant. I kind of wish Elden Beast was a secret boss like Moon Presence was as Radagon/Marika felt like the obstacle to overcome since pretty much every active person/faction wanted to either overthrow them or replace them. Minus The Golden Order under Margott of course.
100% I put them in A because it was conjoined. Radagon, fun and challenging. Elden Beast runs for dear life while throwing cheap incantations, albeit a cool fight
I think that annoying beast is worth it because of the spectacle. If it wouldn´t run away you would just look at it body the whole fight not seeing any moves it does.
Radagon is S. For me it was a super punishing fight but fair when you learned it. Elden beast is absolute trash d/e tier. As my first souls game it was absolutely anti climatic fight and just overall annoying. The only thing I enjoy about it was the transition and the music. And then a fucking gooey dinosaur pops outta the muck.
I personally would put Niall at S tier. Mainly because I'm a sucker for storm-callers, but also because I just think he's so badass and intimidating. (I was probably just underleveled)
See I really enjoyed the O'Neil + Niall fights, I loved the atmosphere and OST, and the battle cry they give when buffing their troops, it just feels really tight I personally enjoyed O'Neil's fight more, because I thought it played really well on horseback
My favorite boss was malenia , It felt like swordman vs swordman fight and I love that kind of fight. For me me trying to bait out her waterfowl dance and try to predict what she's gonna do felt like brain game and I really loved it.
bad take, too easy and she is just a bitch bitching about being undefeated but all there is just a lover's pox cos she's a whore to the whole of the lands between
I personally would disagree with loretta as it was one of the first bosses I really struggled with(the ghost version) so it is a really memorable fight for me. I did things in a kinda roundabout way and did caria manor right after godrick before even knowing how to get into the academy. There I also encountered the red wolf as a normal enemy before the boss so that would bump it down a bit for me.
Loretta is so much fun idc, idk why, it’s just extremely fun to dodge her attacks for me. Yea it’s easy, but I just think it’s so much fun to fight her.
@@napsec9807 Tree sentinel for me was kinda mid, but Loretta not having a massive shield and instead preferring to use magic was a real treat for me. She shares about 2 moves with the tree sentinel and every other attack is original to her, which makes the comparison asmongold said incorrect imo, if you want a true re-skin look at the dragonic version that only has 2 unique attacks. Whereas Loretta only shares a couple animations with the tree sentinel.
Personally I think it would be cooler to have you fight godric before margit, partly because if you killed godric it would make sense for margit/morgot to hunt you down as you have become a threat, like the idea he didn't have time for you before because you weren't dangerous or a threat, but after killing godric must be dealt with. I just think it would feal cooler and make more sense.
I mostly agree with these, or at least be within half a rank or so. My only change would be to put Astel in S. Easily one of the coolest bosses in any soulsborne game. Super creative, he's a fallen star so being larger than life is super cool, I think his mechanics are quite tough but fair. Really teaches people roll timing IMO.
Unreal the loretta analysis. It’s an upgraded version of the caria manor fight. You can’t just range her down and have to carefully dodge her 3 hit slash or the blue blade combo Nothing like any of the tree sentinel fights at all Loretta at Haligtree in fairness and as far as player timing feeling rewarding is S tier right next to Godfrey
So many iconic lines from Elden ring: “graceless tarnished!”, “togethaaaaa!”, “Warrioaaaa!”, “I am Melania, blade of Miquella”, “unfortunately for you, you are maidenless”….
I just recently got into this channel because of the elden ring videos and I have to say- It's still so funny to me how badly that bird destroyed him. It not only destroyed him in the game, but it somehow dealt psychic damage to him in real life. When people start bringing it up, he literally starts suggesting that people that thought it wasn't hard were mages or had different builds than him. It's like dude, maybe don't ONLY do jumping attacks and then stand around in the fire and it won't be hard. I mostly agree with this list, with the exception of the misbegotten, i feel like that boss is laughably easy for most builds, i'd put him down in D maybe.
I'm glad he made the distinction that a hard fight isn't necessarily a good fight. Anybody can make a hard fight, it's easy. But making a challenging fight that's FUN is what's really impressive.
“Fia’s champions” is the weirdest and most random inclusion on the list, why does that even have a rank lol. Also wish elden beast and Radagon were separated, I’d say Radagon is an easy S tier but elden beast is A or B carried only by how cool it is
I think if you talk about Melania's fight, the other moves she has are pretty consistently hard. Once I learned how to deal with water fowl consistently, it still took me awhile to beat her. The clone attacks, quick combos, scarlet rot in phase 2, and the 2 or 3 grabs she has. She takes awhile to master. I will say waterfowl is absolutely the biggest hurdle, but once you get past that there's still a lot of challenge there in my opinion.
this is entirely depending on what your build is. i used a thumbprint shield with a holy poker stick and cheesed most of the bosses until i got to meliquia
i actually like bosses that are hard for certain builds, and wish more bosses did that, forces you to change up your playstyle and think alittle, and its a open world game so you can always just skip that boss or come back later.
@@naxergss2625 you cannot. It is only a one time drop from the presumably farmable enemies and was apparently patched so cooperators cannot farm them anymore. This was an intentional choice on the devs part, albeit a crappy one

I agree on that one. Those were right because of the lore. Some bosses... Damn, I was pissed when I met another Astel in a cave. Because it was such a unique, amazing looking boss then... another one of that? Why? I felt the same with Red Wolf of Radagon, but I could think of them as a specie at least. So some reuses makes perfect sense, some just felt lazy.
@@Odyssey636 yeah but the point is to have a cool looking fight you can stunlock any npc invader but the mimic tear fight is customizable so you should make something out of it
The problem with the tear is it just walks toward you swapping weapon stances multiple times and gets stun-locked to death. It reminds me of the archer contract for the volcano manor the second one. The should have made it Jester Tomas smart but its literally braindead.
I was a mage during fire giant and let me tell you. I was still only looking at his feet. Thing is, if you’re not straight under him, his attacks are harder to dodge. So I just used a cold rigier’s rapier with spinning weapon and that’s all I did.
I'd 100% put Morgott as S tier. I love his lore, love his voice and his fighting, not too hard but still challenging, fire abilities. And Malenia (still haven't defeated her) is also S imo, for her lore, her difficulty and how she is so not an Elden Ring boss. Her fighting looks so much like Sekiro. Also, fuck Commander Niall. I hate him with all my guts. Him and his double sworded knight. Hate them. So fucking much.
@@Dungpie64 then she will be too easy because everyone will have ash that have multi spirits to stagger her for day without worrying about her healing back
Malenia is an E tier. Along with all the other RNG bosses. Did the boss roll the kill attack this time? Guess you lose. Rinse repeat until she doesn't do the move and you kill her.
Honestly, Morgott is just way too easy and the fight is mostly ruined because of it. Yes, his moveset and the presentation of the fight are top tier, but he deals too little damage and has way too little health. I beat him easily first try without summons, even while intentionally gimping my character and build because the bosses pre-mountaintops were just too damn weak. Such a letdown since his moveset was Margit (who is an S tier fight imo) but better, but you don't even get to properly fight him because he dies too quickly and deals too little dmg.
I like how diverse these boss' opinions are. I, for example, since I took my time and did some good ol' farming, every single "big" boss died on 1st try. Crucible Knight gave me the most problems so far. Margit, Gordick, Rennala, Red Wolf, Misbegotten, ... all of them bit the dust in under few seconds.
I think Malekith should’ve reset the health bar, it would’ve been a much better fight. Also a boss tier list is so hard because most people think difficulty = how good it is, but you have to think about all the other aspects too which is why the misbegotten can be in the same category as Malenia
I fought rennala with magic and would still rank her S or A. Also Malenia, blade of Miquella is easily top of S. That was the coolest, most fun, and hardest boss in the game for me. I didn't get mad a single time when I died and the feeling of finally beating her was amazing.
Among the fights that are not with story bosses but with field bosses or from a specific location, I think the most difficult are the duos. The two crucible knights Ordovis and the other who wears the same armor as the knight Siluria and the Godskin duo with the nobleman and the apostle. They are very difficult fights because no matter how well prepared you go, even if you fought one of them solo and you know their individual combos it becomes very different when they are together and they combine them they are incredibly strong and accurate. Without a doubt the toughest boss duos and they have some of the most epic soundtracks in the game, it was frustrating to fight them so much but I ended up gaining appreciation for this bosses for their great difficulty. Also, no one will deny that these duos are both very cool and badass in their own way. I give them an A rating.
Call me crazy but I actually liked fighting Leonine Misbegotten and Crucible Knight, one of my favorite memories of this came is when I finally overcame that challenge by killing the misbegotten as fast as possible and then learning to parry the crucible knight and getting my ruin greatsword early.
I dont have the time or patience for this game but I love everything about it. Watch alot of content on it. Thanks for the list. Im sure I will get it at some point.
Just get it bro. There’s more than enough information out there to get you up to speed. If you hit a wall you can always respec for a build that the boss is weak too if you want… to a point. The drops for the respec items are limited to a certain amount per playthrough. That’s more than enough though.
Btw, Rennala isn't actually immune to damage, she just have an invincible shield. The difference is that you can use something that can pennate it, she can still take damage while she still has her shield. For example, Night Maiden's Mist
My opinions on Malenia is I think it’s a very high S, I don’t say this because it’s hard, I say it because I loved learning the attacks and it felt so satisfying once I killed her unlike other endgame bosses. Like waterfowl dance, I could not wrap my head around dodging that attack close range (I didn’t use bloodhound step), farther away was easy, but closer was a nightmare, but once I finally learned how to, it became really satisfying whenever I pulled it off. And another thing was that no matter how much I died, I never genuinely got mad unlike some other people.
You said learning the attackS, but its really just about learning Waterfowl for the most part. Thats whats garbage about it. I felt basically nothing when beating her.
For me as someone who's no-hit her a week ago, she's the worst boss in Soulsborne. Yes that includes the abominations we found in DS2 like the DLC trio. Malenia is the only boss that isn't a boss. She's three one-shotting moves disguised as a boss through tons of generic slashes and thrusts that was given 34k health and a ridiculous lifesteal to survive long enough that she can cycle through those three one-shotting moves and make it seem as though it's an actual fight. Waterfowl and that clone attack are crimes to humanity.
Omg yes. Legit “put these ambitions to rest”
Holy shit
I was so afraid of the bosses from all the hype I heard that I basically just grinded until level 40 then I faced Margit for the first time. I destroyed him.
This is definitely true, additionally I think it’s implied that he does not trust Godrick in particular to be able to handle the tarnished; which is why it makes sense for him to come beforehand and be harder
yeah, but the thing is that you can get so easily over leveled before fighting him, and it will be really easy to kill him

The only thing I would say I’m confused about is why Loretta is so low, but Godskin Duo is as high as C. He’s my favorite character in the lore, he loved and fought to defend the erdtree and the golden order, though they rejected him
@Dio-xo9rv He is Godfrey's son, therefore a direct child of Marika's.
Hell yeah, I've made 5+ characters just to fight Margit again, easily the most fun and rewarding fight in the game.

Now that we are on "post nut clarity" after we finished the game I realize a thing about Malenia: The problem with her Waterfowl is how hard was to understand how to dodge it. 2:35 lore-wise, margit is supposed to be harder than godrick. margit is there to prevent godrick from grafting your tarnished to himself, as he would become stronger than margit if that happens
Margit hated all of those other shardbearers, he was the only one with some sense left
Margit just fucking hates all tarnished and shardbearers. He always rides out to murder other tarnished, so I believe he is there simply to eliminate another fool who will tear the world apart to become a lord.
I thought he was there to protect Godrick because he was the weakest
@@NameThatIsJust Why would he protect a demigod he hates with passion?
@@skomolowski Idk I just heard it from a video
Elden Beast wasn’t even that hard for me, he was just annoying with how far away he moved. That fight should have allowed you to ride on Torrent. It seems like it was made for it and it would have been a good final moment with him. Instead as a melee user you hit Elden Beast once and then watch him swim like a mile away, run after him, and then watch him swim away again. Shit final boss with a really cool design.
God I love the design so much though. Yeah having a torrent for just the Elden Beast part would've been sick actually, I do love that idea
Couldn’t agree more wasn’t difficult but holy shit was it annoying especially when he was at low hp he would just swim away
Leonine the Misbegotton is what really got me into the game. Finally understanding the mechanics and feeling like you have taken down a very powerful foe without cheese really got me into this game. Will remain at the top of my list for a hot minute
I fought Leonine before Margit. The result is that he became my Margit, killing me like 23 times, while Margit took only 3 tries.
@@TheSuicune7 Same. Got my ass beat so many times I decided no real bosses for a while, just wander around and kill stuff. Maybe even a few of those side dungeons. I pretty much beelined to stormville. I actually didn't discover Weeping Peninsula until I went around exploring missed areas close to end game, and I two hit Leonine 😅
I was so mad I missed the area, would have been so helpful early game.
Weird. For me this was the best aspect of the elden beast. Dodging the ranged attacks and getting back to it was really fun.
Shattering a god, one hit at a time
I could see melania working in sekiro but maliketh? Absolutely not
100% agreed with Asmon on the confusion on why some large boss fights went back to the issues fromsoft used to have with huge fights where your just looking at feet e.t.c. @@carsonecalono lol, just like the elden beast.

@@psykomyko730 make fire giant like rykard where you fight him at range with a special weapon
@@saula8948 it teaches you to not get greedy makes it more of a patient battle, also in the lore the blood he's using is ripped out of a god.

His OST is AMAZING, you guys should really give it a try and his lore is great. The opening cutscene is probably one of the best and most badass boss intro in Soulsborne.

Margit and Morgott are definetly in my top 5. Morgott fight had crazy moveset, cinematography, thrilling music that makes you play on the edge of your seat AND it sometimes even fits his moveset. (Unlike Placidusax music which is 90% lame with only like 10 intense seconds.)
I mean, this entire idea of a rugged old man, with horns, a scorpion tail, hardened skin, fighting with a large stick, all these signs make you feel like he is some decadent hobo. But he speaks with such authority while literally conceiving weapons OF GOLDEN LIGHT from thin air, which disappear asa he uses them makes you feel like you're fighting someone you really should fear and respect. This huge contrast in itself leaves you completely clueless about who the hell he is, adding a huge element of mystery WHICH makes him even more intimidating :D
Morgott has depth to character, lore and to top those off, outstanding voiceacting.
Its like a word joke sometimes, as by the time you meet him again you GOT good (Margit --> MorGOTT)
All in all, I understand that he is an A as a boss, and I can partly see Asmon's point there, but as a character he'll always be one of, if not the most iconic character of Elden Ring to me.
I completely agree. Morgott should at least be S if Margit is A.
I love the fact that margit was so hard. he teaches you that you're supposed to go out and explore and level up before progressing. tree sentinel does that as well.
get the FUCK BACK OUT INTO THE FIELDS AND COME BACK LATER!
I wouldnt put the haligtree loretta high either but for completely different reasons, we only fought her twice right?
@@yes78
Yeah, but the issue with horseback fights is that there isn't a huge difference between them for the most part since they reuse the bulk of their movesets.

Morgott to me can be up there with the best bosses fromsoft has ever created if he ever gets an HP buff.
I think all he needs to be one of the best is some way for him to to close distance between you and him.
It all depends what level ur at when u face him
My personal top 5 is Morgott, Malekith, Radahn, Placidusax and Radagon.

Exactly! Mohg has earned my number 1 spot. I co-op there so much and I rarely find the fight dull. Can you recommend a good monster hunter to play first?
Theres three Godskin apostles, the one in Caleid is particularly hard for some reason, but guards a very good sword
There are a lot of apostles all around
@@Dianbler youre right I keep finding more each playthrough lmao
Their is one in the spirit caller cave at mountaintop of the giants
A nice bit of advice for the Godskin Noble roll, you can just sprint in a circle to dodge it
Personally i hate it because its not very rewarding to fight.
Also rolling directly into it 90% of the time you won’t get hit
The way you experience each boss has so much to do with how leveled you were for them, asmon wouldve loved alot of the low tier bosses if he wasnt overleveled.
I think the godskin apostle depends on where and when you encounter him. If you encounter him at the bottom of the tower in Caelid, he’s tough, but if you encounter him at the windmill area he’s quite a bit easier.
I lost it when asmongold was talking about crucible knight and misbegotten warrior, some guy in chat said ,,S+S=E YEP" hahahaha
I agree with 99% of this, I'd just make a new tier below them all and put the godskin duo in it.
“If you build your character a certain way, and then there’s a boss that completely stone walls you…” every pyromancer in DS3 vs Soul of Cinder knows what I’m talking about 🙌🏼😩
I mean coming from a lore perspective I mean... Cmon man😂😂 the souls of all those who linked the flame is resistant/immune to fire?!?!? NAH WAY😂😂
Or Old demon king. At this point of the game you dont have any dark pyromancy and thus deal literally no dmg to him
Kinda dumb that he places Renala super low because of this and then proceeds to put Radagon in S while having like 97% Holy immunity... Completely ruined my Jesus run which was my first playthrough
When Moorgot pulls that multicolor blade out you know it's about to get serious!
Except he isn't? She still has the base of Tree Sentinel...
Killing her so fast that you dont know what her moveset is is also a boss design problem
@@Thatguypat how? I can kill most bosses easily in 8 hits in ds3 with sellsword twinblades and good stats not overleveld some buffs on me and it’s a joke so some people choose to trivialize the game own fault
@@JDisclmd If you can kill bosses that quickly without going really far out of your way then they're too squishy
Unfortunately, ever boss in lategame Elden Ring is way too squishy because there's no scaling, so if you commit to doing as much of the game as you can you'll just end up being 80 levels higher than everything in the endgame without doing any grinding
@@Thatguypat i did everything I could in elden ring and I was level 90 when I reached morgot and I didn’t do 2k damage I did like 500 with the moonveil +9
Nothing gave me bigger goosebumps than when Radagon’s boss theme drops as soon as the camera starts to pan away from the stoic red-head
Love the water on the ground and the full moon background in Renalas fight however I really like Rykards fight the most with the serpent hunter blade
I agree with it. But Radagon is S, while Elden Beast is B. It's so annoying running around wihtout the possibility to attack.
Elden beast fucking kiting
I personally would put Niall at S tier. Mainly because I'm a sucker for storm-callers, but also because I just think he's so badass and intimidating. (I was probably just underleveled)
See I really enjoyed the O'Neil + Niall fights, I loved the atmosphere and OST, and the battle cry they give when buffing their troops, it just feels really tight
I personally enjoyed O'Neil's fight more, because I thought it played really well on horseback
So fucking happy to see my boys Godrick and Mohg getting the appreciation they deserve. Such good boss fights.
Margit is a skill check, and a message to you to go out and explore, level up and get gear. Any boss can be hard if you if you limit yourself
My favorite boss was malenia ,
It felt like swordman vs swordman fight and I love that kind of fight.
For me me trying to bait out her waterfowl dance and try to predict what she's gonna do felt like brain game and I really loved it.
Totally agree
bad take, too easy and she is just a bitch bitching about being undefeated but all there is just a lover's pox cos she's a whore to the whole of the lands between
I personally would disagree with loretta as it was one of the first bosses I really struggled with(the ghost version) so it is a really memorable fight for me.
Id have Loretta in B tbh
Because the base Tree Sentinels are so well designed
@@napsec9807 Tree sentinel for me was kinda mid, but Loretta not having a massive shield and instead preferring to use magic was a real treat for me. She shares about 2 moves with the tree sentinel and every other attack is original to her, which makes the comparison asmongold said incorrect imo, if you want a true re-skin look at the dragonic version that only has 2 unique attacks. Whereas Loretta only shares a couple animations with the tree sentinel.
Aside from the tree sentinels you fight her exact design and skillset in the Caria Manor. So she is a reused boss
@@DisappointedBuddha she has new move mix ups just like Godfrey does.
You can’t just range her down and have to carefully dodge her 3 hit slash or the blue blade combo
Nothing like any of the tree sentinel fights at all
Loretta at Haligtree in fairness and as far as player timing feeling rewarding is S tier right next to Godfrey
Most people are over leveled when they play him. And more experienced by then. He’s a cool boss, but not difficult.
In ng+ he 1 or 2 shots me
In my opinion morgott should be S tier he just is a really awesome boss. Perfect to learn his moveset has amazing combos and his intro is badass
I'm glad he made the distinction that a hard fight isn't necessarily a good fight. Anybody can make a hard fight, it's easy. But making a challenging fight that's FUN is what's really impressive.
This Loretta slander is foul
I feel like the reason malenia is hard is the lifesteal more then the waterfoul
Personally, my favourite and most memorable fights are Mohg and Placidusax. On the other hand, I hate the living s**t out of the valiant gargoyles.
Serpant hunter spear should be able to work in fire giant fight to make it more interesting
true
Problem is Rennala is literally who you have to beat to be able to respec
@@Aramythr that, and respecing is a fucking limited resource
@@Rexis102 You can farm larval tears

with the “the boss got reused so its bad” argument, i mean say the godskins or tree sents and all those there are meant to be alot of them as they are actual factions and they are a prt of those so even lore wise it would make sense that there are many of them
I agree on that one.
@well yeah but with Astel it’s also the same, they came from stars so it would also make Sense ( take falling beasts for example)

If you want a fun fight with the mimic tear then don’t heal and give it dragon incarnations
Wrong. Strip completely and have a meat slap off
@@Odyssey636 yeah but the point is to have a cool looking fight you can stunlock any npc invader but the mimic tear fight is customizable so you should make something out of it
The problem with the tear is it just walks toward you swapping weapon stances multiple times and gets stun-locked to death.
So I just used a cold rigier’s rapier with spinning weapon and that’s all I did.
i think this balances out though cus phase 2 he drops down and his chest becomes the focal point
Great list! I agree with most of what u said in this video good job.
If they removed Malenia ability to heal I would've been fine with blocking her flurry attack.
@@Dungpie64 then she will be too easy because everyone will have ash that have multi spirits to stagger her for day without worrying about her healing back
Malenia lore is so cool. But the flurry attack still bs imo
Also a boss tier list is so hard because most people think difficulty = how good it is, but you have to think about all the other aspects too which is why the misbegotten can be in the same category as Malenia
im fucking thankful he didnt do that... because i already was losing it on him and i had nowhere else to go but malenia when igot to him
I fought rennala with magic and would still rank her S or A. Also Malenia, blade of Miquella is easily top of S. That was the coolest, most fun, and hardest boss in the game for me. I didn't get mad a single time when I died and the feeling of finally beating her was amazing.
Rennala is my favourite. Just loved the whole thing.
You love taking it up the ass I see
Melania is an extremely poor designed boss
@@reecejones2994 The whole endgame areas are poorly designed.
@@reecejones2994 I simply disagree.
@DarkEldenLord you didn't beat her, if you did you'd know waterfowl was like #3 on things to watch out for
@@conniefan123 Waterfowl is #1 to look out for. The clone attack is #2. Aeonia is #3. The rest is inconsequential.
