    Stigma released the thorn 2.0 and Spears 2.0 ajustable stroke 2.5-4.5 mm. A bit shorter and more bulky. More vibrations too.

    Hi, you said 8 volts is what you run at. Was that for lining, shading and color? Or do you use at different volts for different uses? Different volts at 2.5, 3.5, and 4 lengths? What are you regularly using volt wise at all variations?

      usually I go around 8-9 volts for everything. some days it's 8 , some 8,5 , some 9 , depends on placement / design I'm working on but usually I stay same volts whole day. I just adjusting needle dept and stroke , depending on - if I have to do lines and softer or more solid work.

    What the best machine for you…?

  • @bullsheeptattoo
    @bullsheeptattoo Рік тому +2

    I don't know what to feel about that machine! I used to tattoo with a thunder and I loved it very much, it was my main machine for a while. I'm not sure if that's a machine for nowadays. Every top machine is now wireless and for a good reason, besides is to me more important the motor torque than the stroke, because with the Acus you can do everything wit a 4.1mm or 3.7mm stroke and I mean EVERYTHING! Of course stroke can be very important, but the need to change it in the middle of the tattooing is almost irrelevant when you can change the motor torque.
    Union, good quality machine, no doubts, but it doesn't even start to compete with the main machines out there.

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  Рік тому +2

      I agree about Acus, It's really great machine. And pretty much solid for everything.
      I think it's the only machine out there with the Motor torque change option.
      in that case there's nothing that can compare to it.
      (I probably need to use it more, as I don't think it was that big of a difference to me)
      I'm not the biggest fan of the battery life for Acus. I always need to change it middle way of a tattoo. For that and few other reasons I personally prefer to use wired machine for daily use like - Hawk Pen.
      Hawk pen is one of my all time favourite machine and I know there's probably thousands of artists who thinks the same. For example if my pen would brake - I probably would switch to this one rather than getting new pen machine. I don't think Unio machine is a game changer compare to other hawk models, but I do think it's a really good upgrade on original pen.
      I think Unio can compete pretty good with other machines that's out there. Just due to that stroke switch, I think it's really useful update and none machines have that mode (to my knowledge) apart from Vlad Blad Avanger 2 PRO.
      and I think Wireless inkjecta has some sorta option change for a stroke too.

    • @bullsheeptattoo
      @bullsheeptattoo Рік тому

      @@AnrijsStraumeTattooI totally understand your point of view, the battery life it is indeed the biggest con on Acus machine, but to be honest it doesn't take that much of time to change it. 5h of battery life, 10h for both is not that bad and they're really cheap to buy. It's not that big of a problem. As I said, the cheyene products are awesome and most of them done by the Acus people. ahaha :p I simply loved my cheyenne thunder for a long time and I totally understand the appealing, however I can't go back to wire machines, specially now that I've tried the M1. Btw, there's a lot of stroke switch machines out there, and the first to come out with that option were the chineses and don't forget the Axys Valhalla and Stigma Spear as well. It's already an old concept and not a very good one in my opinion. I''ve always prefer a direct drive machine. I always felt like Union is a step back, but it's only my humble opinion.

      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  Рік тому +2

      @@bullsheeptattoo Yeah. definitely not end of the world to swap battery once. Just for me easier not swap it at all and use machine with the cable most of the days. (I have filmed video about it too (why I no longer use Wireless machines) Just need to edit it and upload it. if it will even be informative enough. And yes I know Cheyenne is made by Acus engineers, that's why I do love Acus too - best parts from both worlds.
      I haven't heard much about - Axys Valhalla or Stigma Spear, will have to check them out too. but Quality wise I think Cheyenne

  • @Inkbyjeremy

    In my honest opinion I believe in the future they will create a machine that you can adjust the stroke from 1 to 5 and even in between and adjust the motor from brushless or strong to weaker motor all in one idk who will do it but it will be done by someone and it will be wireless or corded !

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo

    The Sol Nova might tattoo very well, but breaks down on you within two years, and then Cheyenne is nowhere to be found. I have several machines, and all of them have the same problem. Dead within a year. One of my machines came from repair, and ended up as a backup machine, so I used it a few times over a year, and guess what,… Yeah, it died a second time! Every time you send your machine for repair, they charge you 500 bucks. No matter the problem, so even when they only replace an o-ring, you get charged 500 bucks, I am dead serious about this no joke. Quite something to ponder about, isn't it? I think their repair service is the most lucrative part of their business. You know,… When the Sol Nova works fine, it is truly the best machine out there, but the quality is really below any professional standard, I can rely more on my Chinese blender than my Sol Nova. And that's not a good thing, as all professional tattoo artists can agree that your machines are the backbone of your business. So, think before you ink,…or buy a Sol Nova. ✌

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment and insight. always good to hear other people experiences.
      I personally don't agree about the quality. I have never had issues with any Cheyenne machine (apart from cables) Lot of people in our studio uses Cheyenne machines , and in past 5+ years only One time co worker machine did brake. she send it back and got it fixed for free, as it wasn't her fault that it broke. She did pay for shipping maybe 10-20$ and it was about 1,5-2 months till she got it repaired. That I don't think it's good to wait that long.
      From what I remember it was in the first year so still covered by warranty. (it's possible there's 2 year warranty)
      Other then that In my experience all good. Most tattoo machine I've worked with ever is - Cheyenne hawk PEN. I think about 3+ years almost daily , long long hours. And it was still good. I have dropped it few times myself, and still was working. Eventually it did start to be louder and more vibration. It didn't affected tattoo work but I did started to realise it's probably getting old (and of-course dropping it didn't help)
      By that time machine was about 5 years old.
      But ofcourse I have heard that people are complaining about quality. Maybe I'm just lucky and same with my coworkers.
      But sometimes I really don't know what people do with their machines, that they all keep breaking.
      and Ofcourse it would be frustrating to pay 500 bucks for O ring change. (What I also think it's probably not true) But I don't work for Them , so I don't know. it's possible.

      @@AnrijsStraumeTattoo well the weirdest thing is that i still have warranty, but i think Cheyenne uses a external repair service. The guy just claimed it was a fact i thorn out the connector. Why would i destroy my own machine? Besides that, it is just a plastic connector he has to solder back to the cables. If you have the tools probably ten minutes of work. But he charges me 400 euros for a loose connector. It has been the weirdest experience i ever had with a supplier. I am using Cheyenne machines for over ten years. I have four Sol Novas at my studio so yeah the idea that when they break down they have a one way ticket to the garbage can is not a very comforting prospect. So it basically means that Cheyenne doesn't hold to their legal obligation to fullfill their warranty. This is very bad, i am not a hater, but this ridiculous and i think other artists should know that this is something you can expect to happen to you too. Me on the other hand, I'm going to look for another machine, so Anrijs any good recommendations? It seems like you virtually worked with every single machine in the industry. Acus could be a good Option if you don't want Cheyenne. as it's same engineers who build it. but it has some good extras.
