    I'd like to try one with a critical shorty and the connect footswitch, agree its a shame they didn't include the removable front piece. Gotta get out that heat gun and break the seal on your own I guess ha .

      Used it with a critical battery today and it’s very comfortable to use.

    The original Sol nova is still my favourite machine….. it sometimes it feels like a little bit to „weak“.
    I mean, the hawk pen also has 3.5 stroke but feels stronger.
    I think they gave it a new motor, so is the new Sol more like the hawk pen?
    I really hoped for a Sol nova with changeable stroke….
    I still go with wire because I can run the machine way slower that any with a battery.
    Even if I’m really really slow handed I need to run my Sol nova at 10 to 12 volts for lining .

      Dude I have a SOL Terra and you cannot use anything less than 8.5-9.5 volts to line with and any faster the needle does the weird bouncing type thing. I can line better with my $140 CNC P6 at the 3.8 or the 4.0 stroke but because it’s direct drive it’s super easy to lay in.. hmmm 🤔

    Howdy. I tried a rotary today for the first time ( bishop 4.2) and the needle kept going back into the machine slowly with time. Hated that . I may be turning the depth unknowingly with the side of my hand as I shift. Does this machine ( sol nova ) click to adjust needle length ?

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  5 місяців тому +1

      The machines doesn’t have a click adjustment, however I’ve never had the issue needle adjustment changing when using it with the Cheyenne machine.

      They are fairly similar in how they feel although I found that the “sweet spot” is different. For example on the original sol nova I l would run it at around 8volts with the new one i run it a bit higher at around 9-9.5. Also the mode switch makes a difference in how it feels when using it.
      Hope this helps

      @@ThatTattooShow i reached out to Cheyenne and they said it’s a whole new motor that has more torque

      @ThatTattooShow  Рік тому

      Yes, that info is on their website. They still feel quite similar though, which is a good thing in my opinion. I’m still testing the machines so will be doing a full breakdown and review soon.

    I just got the Cheyenne sol nova 4.5. Is it normal that it turns off when you go past 12.5 volts??? It doesn’t hit hard enough to line for me. The Bishop does it easily.

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  4 місяці тому

      Some machines have a maximum voltage. If I’m right in remembering. The hit of the machine remains constant regardless of the volts. So running it at a higher volt will just increase the speed and not how hard it hits.
      Tbh I’m able to line fine with the 3.5 so I would assume lining with the 4.5 shouldn’t be an issue really.

      @@ThatTattooShow the speed helps lining . Especially if you work fast.

    Which disposable grips fit? I asked this on few other channels. Hawk grip does not fit. Too small

    Hi Chris, I just bought a Sol Nova 2. I'm thinking of buying a battery. Have you used it with Cheyenne's new EnGen battery? It seemed very long to me and changing the battery during the tattoo is very troublesome. Musotoku or Critical seems more logical. Which battery do you recommend using?

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey! I haven’t tried the EnGen battery just yet. Waiting on a delivery so once I’ve got it I’ll do a review.

  • @TS-mf6ff
    @TS-mf6ff Рік тому

    hey bro, i like your vids, is this machine good to start as a beginner? i dont want to buy shit, and the unlimited looks like more for experienced artist, but is the sol nova vibration good compared to other cheyenne machines?

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  Рік тому +1

      Honestly, if you buy one machine and stick to it you will be golden. One of my colleagues used the spirit everyday for a good 5-6 years, until the flux came out. He was so comfortable with it that he could do everything.
      So if you bought the 3.5 and just used that daily and nothing else then over time you will become proficient at using it.
      However, if you don’t want to spend bucks then the spirit is good beginner machine, the rotary works pen is also good for the price point.

      @TS-mf6ff Рік тому

      @@ThatTattooShow oh okay, i got a bit overhelmed by all these machines and i really want to spend my money wise, so if i may ask, what do you think about the the weight? 150 gramms should be fine but i am scared that a lighter machine could cause some shaky lines and a heavier machines could cause to much pressure on the front or back for a beginner, and from the pictures on the sol nova the weight shift looks pretty solid and balanced, what would you say about the wheigt? is it balanced and not to much on the back or front? sorry, english is not my native language. ^^

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  Рік тому +1

      I started with coils so using that is super light. If you want more weight then they have a stainless steel grip. Having steady lines will come with time and practice regardless of the machine weight. Once you become accustomed to using a machine then you will gradually improve. a lot of people think swapping machines etc will make them improve and they search for “the best machine” realistically it’s a case of finding something that’s an all rounder and getting used to using it. once you can do everything with that machine then look at others. Different machines do different jobs but they will only be as good as the person using them. So once you are proficient with using one machine then the others may make you more efficient at different tasks.

      @@ThatTattooShow that is really helping me, thanks so far! the only thing thats preveting me from buying an HAWK Pen is because of the "Responsive Mode" i want to learn in Steady Mode and the SOL Nova offers both options thats why. What do you think about that? For a beginner would it be better to learn on steady mode and go later into "Responsive Mode"? btw. is your 10% Code still working? when i get my paycheck i def. gonna purchase one of these Machines and i want to support you!

    You completely "brushed over" the fact that it's brushless, which, other than the anti roll - something the clones got right away, they made virtually no changes. And neither you, nor their website explain the switch mode and what it does. As you did point out, you still can't clean inside, so, fail... Overall, pretty much zero innovation. But sure, let's drop the big bucks for the 'name brand'. As I pointed out in previous videos, you pretty much can't eff up a direct drive machine, so they almost went backwards as everyone else is at least trying to innovate. A brushless motor, that's all they did, oh and still haven't figured the ball bearing click system, another thing the clone game came with strong. These guys aren't making a good case to choose them over a machine a fraction of the cost - intellectual property or not. Sorry not sorry.

      It’s an unboxing and initial thoughts.
      There will be a full review and breakdown of the machine after I’ve tested it properly along side the old sol nova and against other machines.
      So I’ll be covering everything there.
      FYI, if you want to know what what the mode switch does then actually read their website, I found that information in 2 seconds.
