    Mad props to the Editor - brilliant use of the 360 camera!
    Also, fantastic clear audio - very much hoping the team get on top of the distortion to the voices on the runs down the track. :)

    • @PiDsPagePrototypes
      @PiDsPagePrototypes 4 роки тому +3

      @David David They'd certainly be a challenge, but the distortion to the voices, to my ear, sound more like the digital link back to the control station - like an MP3 with the bitrate set too low.
      Maybe they need to swap from Engineers to Broadcast Techs, who deal with that sort of stuff every day.

    • @xSBxBBBdx
      @xSBxBBBdx 4 роки тому

      The team replied to this in a facebook post, it's unlikely the comm sound will become better because the breathing/air mechanism inside the andy's helmet is accountable for a large part of the distortion.

    • @weedfreer
      @weedfreer 4 роки тому +1

      if the distortion is likely to do with the breathing rig, is it not possible to add in a number of 'anti-sound' mics around the helmet/cockpit?
      For example, when recording the sound of a bass drum, a clever sound tech would place a mic not only to the front of the drum, but to the rear also.
      That way, it will enable them to mix up other mic channels in line with the main mic to achieve a richer sound experience.
      Expanding on this, they will do similar with the vocals placing mics in the upper and lower quadrants of the vocal booth both front and rear also.
      Tl;Dr: They need to get some sound techies in the case!

      If you are aiming for a 1,000mph LSR, the average speed in both directions it what counts, so you don't want it pegged at 1,000mph, nor do you want to still be accelerating at 1,050 when you already set 1,025 the other way.
      So it actually makes sense for this to go up to 11 :-)

    Clear and logical layout. Speed concentrates one's focus. I don't want to say tunnel vision, but in the heat of the moment the driver/pilot needs to keep his eyes on the task. Having displays that will be used at speed straight ahead and controls where they can be found by muscle memory is the way to go. Doing practice runs helps train the mind to make the right control inputs without pausing to think or locate the control input.

    Any reason you're not using a Power distribution module instead of old school circuit breakers?
    A PDM can monitor current flow and be programmed to act accordingly in any overload situation, for eg it can be programmed to "retry" the circuit as many times as you see fit (as well as many other things) in simple language even a dumb mechanic like me can understand lol. without you even having to touch it.. and it'll also save a boat load of weight not only in the module itself but in the wiring as well..
    I worked with Bosch motorsport to fit out the Race To Recovery 4x4's with this kit for their Paris Dakkar race. Blown away by the ingenuity of it. Anything you can think of programming a button to do, you can pretty much do it and for multiples of functions.

    Does anyone know if the Bloodhound will be fitted with the front and rear canards (fins)

      I'm assuming this set of runs is to evaluate the aerodynamics of the car without, then they'll be added for the record attempts to correct for any undesirable aerodynamic loads discovered on the car.
      That's just me speculating though, I don't actually know

      But certainly I'd imagine one of the deliverables for these high speed trials is to validate their CFD models

      Andrew Bailey
      Bloodhound is already touching the boundaries without them my concerns they need them on for a true analysis simply to establish the effects of drag and downward forces on the track.
      Also the same run may throw other issues with soft intermittent track bed ? Canards on could put pull the Bloodhound down hard and course steering problems?
      I have two models of the Bloodhound one with them on and one without and they both perform totally different on the steering side .
      When I activate the rockets with the one without canards ,I have almost no control from my Radio control unit ,but the second one with the fins I have a 65% control.
      If you check my channel you can see the models but no videos of the runs only early stuff but I will be running them both soon . They are only rough take on the Bloodhound however they both in my opinion are different on performance
