- BLOODHOUND SSC is a Land Speed Racing Car designed to inspire a generation to study science and engineering and set a World Land Speed Record of 1,000mph. It includes a cluster of Nammo hybrid rocket engines which have a Jaguar powered fuel pump lubricated by Castrol EDGE, Parker assisted airbrakes and a Eurojet EJ200 jet engine.
This is a very cool animation which is nothing more than a report for the sponsors, showing that their money is being well spent!

Wow, I am 12 now and I remember I had a book when I was 9 or 8 called fast, it had all these super sonic planes and cars like the thrust 2, and the book ended on saying that the bloodhound ssc will be created in the future, and it was just an idea. But now they have made it. That is so cool

They tested in a shed with the Cosworth engine but replaced it.

Nice animation! Was the use of the Jaguar engine just to get sponsorship funds? Many small gas turbines could provide the same power more efficiently and reliably, in a smaller, lighter package.

@@MrBen527 i'm confident it will. The SSC team made another car in 1997 called the Thrust SSC. It had 110,000 horse power, went 763 mph, and broke the sound barrier. In freaking 1997.

Rockets, RC Planes, More || HD they probably realized that with that much power you would want it inline with the body so it doesn't bury its nose in the dirt which it probably wont because i doubt that thing has suspension but you never know but if youve seen a rocket fly off center from the body its something like that

Jaguar has been making an enormous feat since around 2009 and been making quality decisions and designs with the reliability and style. I trust jaguar and all who helps with the Bloodhound SSC to surpass the land speed record October 15th 2016

In fact you're wrong. Britian is at the forefront of new air breathing jet engine technology, electric cars, space tech and this jet car tech. Seems Britain is at the very top. Just a pity British investors choose not to fund the world beating technology.

The project was abandoned as the vehicle failed its MOT. Also it could not meet ULEZ emission criteria for London. Shame, a fantastic idea, that came close to realisation.

Development stalled in October 2018 when it was announced that the company backing the project, Bloodhound Programme Ltd., had gone into administration, leaving a funding gap of £25 million, which put the venture's future into question.
The project was termed "axed" in December 2018, with plans to return or sell assets, but in the same month Yorkshire entrepreneur Ian Warhurst stepped in to rescue the project by buying the company for an undisclosed sum.

*leaf 2018* the devel is only a concept car and the majority of Bugattis are street legal sooo yea you can't really compare the three to each other
The Bloodhound isn't a production or street legal vehicle like the bugatti so it'd be like the ThrustSSC

+Zolotniik The main thruster on top on top can take this car upto 800mph, but for the extra speeds they included a thing they call the rocket cluster underneath. This rocket is powered by 89% hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (if i remember correctly) to create the final thrust to push it too 1000mph.
Just imagine a couple Lamborghini V12s in that sucker
it'd only get to about 150mph at most with how much the Bloodhound weighs though. :/ The car with the jet engines has a combined 135,000 horsepower.

The Bloodhound was tested on Newquay runway recently up to 200 + miles per hour.
Yes, it was only a systems check, and a rolling mechanical check. But it was, indeed a test run.
And from what I read, was quite successful, and they were able to tick off a whole bunch of stuff.

+Dylan Heunis It's not meant to be a realistic representation of how it's actually going to launch, it's to show the stats of the car and some of the configuration, and also to make it look cool.
Dylan Heunis this is a multi year project. I imagine it justifies spending to sponsors. breaking a world record in engineering/physics is no small feat. Anyway the team currently holds record anyway so they seem like right ppl for job.

Michael D it's been run more than once, and in fact in the last few weeks it was tested on Newquay airstrip up to 200 + miles per hour to check basic systems, and make sure that the mechanicals are all working.
It's going to take time, and you don't go out and build 1000 miles per hour car by bolting it together and then going off and see if it works. That's the quickest way to die.
The car went 628 mph about a year ago. The goal was to hit 1000kph then slow down to a stop. There was a car in 1997 that the SSC group made as well called the Thrust SSC that had 110,000hp, went 763mph (1,228kph), and broke the sound barrier!

+Tejan B.S Stage 1: Natural drag will scrub-off several 100mph, then air brakes deploy scrubbing it down to a F1 car speeds, then steel disc brakes (not Carbon fibre because they disintegrate) take the down to 0. Parachutes are an emergency back-up only. Multiple chute failures on Thrust SSC have put the guys of them for the main braking system for Bloodhound.
Its all magic.
