Here's my initial thoughts on the appliance and I want to do more videos, so leave me some comments on what you want to see next as far as how to use the Ninja Foodi, or any other questions you have about it!

What's something you want to learn about in the next Ninja foodi video??
The dehydrating feature, please.
how to return it.
Chicken and dumplings, ribs, beef burgundy 🥰
If you’re going to keep it, why don’t you put it on a rolling cart? That way you can use it on the cart ( no lifting ), then roll it away when you’re not using it!
I LOVE MINE! You’ll get use to it’s size. It didn’t allow you to open because it was still under pressure. This is good size when you’re feeding a family. I actually place mine on top of my stove on a wooden board. Just to give it that steam space and so it doesn’t steam right under my cabinets. My kids use the aircrisp feature all the time and I use the pressure cooker often. Ribs come out VERY tender using the pressure cook mode , then I brush them with barbecue sauce and put it in the broiler for five minutes. 😗👌🏼
Can we have the whole cooking settings for your recipe ? I just got one of these big boys and I'd like to give it a try next time my butcher has ribs 😊
@@p0up0un3 the book tells you the ribs temperature and time. Then I broil or air fry to give it color.
I love it! It takes up less space on my founter than o5her appliances I've had, and does allege things of those appliances combined, and then some! I keep it on my counter and pull it forward when I'm using it. And it's way easier to clean that the other air fryersI had
Have you ever pressure cooked a bottom round roast in it? It comes out so tender when cooked on Beef Well or Shredsetting
If anyone needs a good demo video o the basics of this model, as well as some good recipes, check out the Salted Pepper. She is nothiredby Ninja and doesn't want to be, but she buys her own Ninja products, tests them and gives reviews and demos, as well as cooki g videos, which often feature one of her Foodi appliances. she does her bread a little differently than the recipe book does, and it's easier and a little quicker too
I don't have enough room for this behemoth! I'd have to get rid of all my small appliances, so it needs to make coffee and toast bread... 😂
I mean it could do both of those but I'd bet the coffee would be more trouble than it's worth! 😅
I have the model without the thermometer, and love the steam crisp function to cook three level meals or frozen potstickers. This appliance has been a total game changer👍
I can't find this what is this model is called
@@louise102nd OL701 has thermometer. OL601 has no thermometer.
Please try EVERYTHING!!! I’m so excited you branched out to this one as I’ve had my eye on it for a while. I have the instant pot AND the previous ninja foodi version. This one I want to try bc it only has one lid n a thermometer and I’m looking to simplify n just have one appliance instead of 2 or 3.
Terri here. So glad YOU are testing this and not me! I’m shorter than you, waaaay older, and it’s so big! I have nowhere to store it…and if I did, I wouldn’t be able to lift it. If not for your videos, I still would have my Instant Pot in a cabinet. But…once I boiled some eggs, I I knew I had to go forward. While I don’t use it weekly, I have done chicken, half a turkey, a number of corned beefs (and must say, I’ve never had any this good!) roasts…am ready to go to soups!
Thank you for taking time to pass on your knowledge and experienced. You are adorable and I love your voice. God be with you!!!
I bought this unit and have used it multiple times, I was intimidated at first due to it being my first time using anything like it. I love it.
I bought from Kohl's when on sale, 30% off coupon, I paid $100.00 less.
I'm not sure I'll ever get into the air fryer appliance, but I found this video highly entertaining to watch. I darn near fell off my chair every time a size reference was made. I look forward to seeing more about this ginormous appliance.
I love mine. I had to laugh when you was trying to find where to hold the lid to close and open it when there’s a big orange label saying “LIFT HERE” 😂😂😂
Great video. Can’t wait to see what you make in it. Thanks 👍😊
I bought this Ninja with probe and I’m in love! Completely. You have to try everything. Whole chicken on Steam & Crisp …you’ll never do otherwise. It’s great quality made. Reliable. I’ve also tested the temp for Sous vide at 135 degrees on several hours with thermometer: right on spot! Clean up is so easy too. I agree with you the price is insanely high. I’ve paid even more than you:( So give it a try and enjoy!
i hate to clean up a rack system like that.
I purchased one about six months ago and I LOVE it. It is truly a game changer for cooking efficiently. I look forward to your upcoming recipes using this cooker.
Oh that's awesome to hear!! Can you share with us what some of your favorite things are about it and some favorite types of recipes? :)
I do love the new all in one lid designs Ninja and Instant pot have put out with their last two models. And the added temperature probe option is just WOW!!! My only critic is the fact they both have the lids built onto the lower sections with a hinged opening action. Honestly prefer the removeable lids. Maybe it's a balance issue with such a bulky lid. But again LOVE the new addition of a probe to temp what you're cooking.
Thanks for reviewing this item. I think I’ll stick with my instant pot Max I love it and it has all those settings with the exception of that type thermometer. It has a digital thermometer that shows the heat at all times. I just bought the air fryer lid for it and it worked wonders. Oh and I can pressure can 4 pints too.
Been checking back for a new video on this product. Really want to know what you think about this compared to the instant pot!
I look forward to more videos of you using this pressure cooker/air fryer!!!!
Welcome to the Ninja World. Great Video!. I use this every day and I like all the features.
Looking forward to new videos where you try out different cooking methods using this machine ❤
I personally am happy with my Instant Pot and toaster oven and regular stove/oven. I probably won't be buying one if these any time soon.Im still interested in how this machine performs.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
It’s huge! Oh my goodness.
I have an older one that has performed beautifully and I am grateful for it. It’s a bit smaller thankfully and it’s a 6 qt and It’s just me so it’s plenty big.
Thanks, Lisa…fun to learn about new products but I have a 3 qt and a 6 qt Instant Pot and a Cosori 5.8 Air Fryer so I’m happy… they would have to use a Crain to get it off me if I fell down while lifting it 😂
Two years ago my husband got me the latest 8 qt foodi. It was so intimidating that I didn't want to try it. I think the first thing I did was boiled eggs. I didn't screw it up, so I slowly tried other foods. We ended up buying the racks for dehydrating. Ours has two lids. One for pressure cooking and the other is attached to the machine. The only gripe I have is that it's very large in our tiny galley kitchen, and the slow cooker isn't great. We kept my crockpot to use I stead.
I upgraded to this model about 18 months ago, and while yes it is huge, it’s brilliant. I’ve used my main oven so infrequently since having a Foodi. It’s by far been the best “gadget” I’ve bought for the kitchen
What about the noise?
I am looking forward to more videos about this. Thanks.
So the lid doesn't come off completely? Isn't that awkward? I get annoyed with my IP lid slotted in the handle sometimes and need to take it off to cook comfortably.
I have a question about air fryer function…
Can I open smart lid during the cooking for checking?
I definitely need a follow up video on this! It’s so interesting!
It looks like the Darth Vader of pressure cookers!😂 I would need to leave it on my counter permanently because I wouldn’t be able to be lifting and moving this monster.🤦🏻♀️ Excited to see how you work with it👍🏼😊
I never thought I'd be the type to put form over function for a kitchen appliances(of all things), but that thing's appearance genuinely bothers me.
I guess breville made me appreciate design. It looks hideous next to nice professional looking equipment. Like having a old rv parked in a nice housing development.
We've had it for a few months and I only used the oven for pizza as it doesn't fit in Ninja.
I mdłe bread twice a week, air dry frequently and make soups. Wire racks are for making three part meals. We don't buy chicken nuggets anymore. Home made taste out of this world. The next step is dehydrating ham.
Definitely would like to see you use the steam crisp function to see what all can be made with it. I take it that the alarm at 12:25 is the "stand clear, steam release is imminent" alarm.
For someone alone and without much strength (I'm 70) this doesn't look like a viable option. I LOVE my insta pot because I can cook a whole meal for 1 at one time and it's not too cumbersome or heavy for me. For baking/crisping I use a toaster oven so I'm set. I just can't see investing that much money on a product that would be difficult to operate. (Personal note: Girl, you look marvelous and you're hitting it out of the park with your videos. You and your family are in my prayers. You SHINE!! Keep up the good work and keep pressing forward in the Lord. Love you) Blessings always, g.
I was LOL on all the counts on the size! Verry funny! But thanks for the video. I am trying, for a month now, to decide btw this model, or the 601, and the IP Pro Crisp. And I still cannot decide. One day I lean twds the Ninja because of the Steam Crisp function, the next twds IP because of the stainless steel liner which also has handles. I am just totally lost! The thermometer is not such a big deal for me as I have no idea how to cook to temp, but I can see where it is good when cooking eat with pre set programs. Anyhow, any advice would be most welcomed! Thanks!
I imagine soon Instant Pot will start integrating thermometers and other things to keep up with the newer batch of pots
Hi did you tried speedi? If yes which one would you choose ? Foodi or speedi? Thank you
I have one of the early Ninja blenders and was happy with it. Then I bought a Ninja 4-in-1 Cooker and although it was a good idea, the design was bad. The steam escapes around the lid really bad and it didn't brown evenly. I decided I was done with Ninja products. Now they just come out with all kinds of expensive appliances. Today QVC had their "ice cream maker" which didn't really make ice cream. You mix it yourself and freeze it in their container overnight and then use it to "creamerize" (didn't think that was a word) and add mix-ins. I'm happy with my Instant Pots and stand-alone air fryer. Those hot air fry lids scare me.
I have a 6-qt Instant Pot Max. It also has a touch screen and you can set what type of venting you want via the control panel.
The amount of times I said “That’s what she said” out loud and completely alone while watching this.. 😂😂
Wow. That thing looks like a small nuclear reactor! I would be interested in seeing how it does with a whole chicken while using the temperature probe.
Are you planning to buy and test out the new Instant Pot 6.5 Ultimate Lid? It looks much smoother and user friendly. I am curious...
Super interested to hear your honest thoughts: I’ve got finite space for more appliances. Unless it is that which will cause you to advise I rehome my beloved instant pot, you’re going to have to really love it for me to be willing to let it through my front door…
I love my unit it's an older model it's the best cooking evice i've ever purchased, It's worth its weight in gold trust me!!!!!!! I recently ordered a new model like yours but it doesn't have the thermometer and it's a smaller unit 5 qt. I can't wait to get the unit. I like the new features that your model has and it's a unit that is gonna be great I know it, These devices can cook anything doesn't matter what and that's the versatility of them. And you don't have to really be a great cook to make a great meal, trust me you're gonna love this unit!!!!!!!!!
I have both a Ninja and a IP. Love them both for many reasons. Ninja is solid. IP is easy. IF I had to choose, I would choose Ninja because it is dependable, sturdy and it will not slide on the counter like a IP can and does but I love my IPs also.
I too have several old style pressure cookers and air fryer and instant pots and few ninja foodi with air crisp lid and a ninja grill. My wife refused to use the instant pot but uses the ninja foodi without asking her to use it. My child uses the ninja foodi too. I like it too. My wife still prefers the old style on the hob pressure cookers of which we have several types as probably they are faster than both instant pot and ninja as the electronic ones develop less pressure than the old style on the hob ones. But I prefer the ninja grill with grill plate but it can smoke quite a bit but the results are good. For the moment I think I can do without the steam crisp and steam bake options on the new ninja. Will wait for a few of these to turn up on the second hand market as usually they are about a third of the price if you look around! Got both my ninja foodi for about £70 to 75 each. The grill max for £50. I use the ninja exclusively now. Have the ninja chopper too which is more handy than the larger capacity Vitamix. Didn't buy the 15 in 1 ninja for £100 second hand as didn't think the steam crisp and steam bake was worth the extra investment and extra device. But you never know might make the jump one day. Certainly won't be buying new as there will be enough people intimidated by this and getting rid of unwanted presents. Which is great for people like me to get this cheaper if I want the additional features. The grill option on the ninja grill is any day better than the air crisp option on the ninja foodi for meats but air crisp is fine for chicken wings etc
I got my Ninja Foodie on Black Friday directly from Ninja Shark for 1/2 price. It is very heavy but… it replaces my insta pot, air fryer and crockpot! It does so much I really think I can get rid of my stove and oven 😮. I love the step by step recipes.
Ms. Tried....do you have any videos on what to do with beef trimmings? Like a broth or a tallow. BTW: I bought an instant pot, and instant air fryer from your videos, thanks.
I already have an IP and a Ninja Foodi air fryer/toaster oven (the flip up style so its space saving) so I don't think I'd take the plunge but I"m intrigued. Usually multifunction machines do one thing well and the others just ok or meh, but if this bad boy did them all better than ok... I might reconsider just to have more counter space. I'm not a huge fan of my Foodi because it doesn't have a basket like other air fryers, it has a metal mesh tray which is a PITA to clean well and the holes are so big lots of crumbs fall through to the baking sheet below so you have 2 things to clean or need to foil like the bottom piece every time. Most of the time my 6qt IP does what I need it to do but every once in awhile I wish I had the 8qt. Man, you really got me thinking. Yes please, more videos to see what this can do. And did I hear you say the IP can sous vide?!? Now I'm confused!!!
Is it possible to disable the sound?
When it said open and showed a countdown, it means to wait to open until it finished counting down. It wasn't fully depressurized when you tried to move the lever over.
Looking forward to your review and recipes
My sister gifted me the Ninja Power XL. It’s a grill, air crisper, dehydrator. I haven’t used my oven since I got it. I use my instant pot and the Ninja grill a lot
IMO it's worth every single penny and then some. I bought one of these when they first came out, and it's worth it just for the delay release feature alone.
I just started watching your channel because I’m considering buying an Instant Pot Duo Nova and wanted to get a good idea of what I might actually cook in it.
I also came across this Ninja device but from all the negative reviews, I decided against it. Specifically, my concern was how to keep the heating element clean on the lid. It’s not removable and cooks with all your food in the pressure cooker, and it looks impossible to get that properly clean.
So I’m going to go with the 8L Instant Pot instead (my husband and I have 4 kids so it make sense to cook in bulk)
Still interested to see your take on this though as I figure I’ll start with the Instant Pot and if I really want to test this I can always buy it later.
I haven't read a single bad review that is based on grounded arguments. About cleaning the heating element, just run one of the steaming functions to dislodge any food remainings and with a clean cloth remove them after it cools down.
I'm debating between this one and the Instant Pot Duo Crisp. I wil mainly just use it for bone broth. Any suggestions or advice?
If you're mainly using a pressure cooker for bone broth, I'd suggest an 8 quart Instant Pot (don't need the crisp!)
You poor thing yes its frightening at first use. The reason why you could not slide to open was it still had pressure inside and the built in safety would not allow you slide to open it.
The black frying basket be careful in removing legs as they can break as known from previous owners of other Foodi.
Tip when going to use the basket is to move the legs so you dont see them from above means less fat dripping onto them and easier cleaning. Enjoy your new toy as i will stick to the older ones for my use .
Great video and wake up to the sound of released steam and have no pets near.
I love my Ninja Foodi!!!!! I wish you would use yours more! I love your channel! Thank you
Saw a video from John Sanders using this ninja foodi with the thermometer pressure cooking steaks to well done. They looked so tender for that doneness. But I didn't even consider chicken til you said something. Bet this would be game changing for that. Or a small pork loin roast?
Ninja had the OL701 on sale during black friday for $199.99. Now its on Amazon for $249.99. Better option than anything Instant Pot has to offer.
I'm going back and 4th between the instant pot ultimate lid and this. Could u share some reasons you like this better? Thx!
@@feefee2 There are two functions that I would not trade for anything else which are only available (at this moment) on the Ninja Foodi Multilid. These the are Steam&Crisp and Steam&Bake. I have never achieved better results baking bread or cakes than with these two functions. Also, with the Steam&Crisp I'd been able to cook a three course meal (pasta or grains plus vegetables plus protein) in just 10 to 15 minutes perfectly. It feels like this machine really does what its supposed to do easy and almost perfectly. Also, the Ninja OL701comes with a temperature probe that lets you cook based on temperature instead of time. This is particularly useful if you want to cook proteins to specific doneness without using an external thermometer (which is impossible when pressure cooking). No Instant Pot does this. Neither does the Instant Pot allows for an automatic delayed pressure release which is required with some recipes.
@@Albertojedi sounds interesting! Thanks for sharing! I'll look into that feature!
@@Albertojedi Does it auto-seal when you close the lid when pressure-cooking?
@@pepegreene7525 Yes.
Wow! 👀
i`m smilinng Big because my son bought this for his wife last year at Christmas time and I found out today and I Had to see it....and you did a video...this thing is huge and I`m interested how it`s an insta and where it air frys from
i bought one on Amazon last year for 100.00 off...249.00. love the thermostat.
It’s also a air fryer and now mixes steam with heat to create moist meats with delicious crispy exterior
I recently got the European version, and I love it so much!
It's well worth the money it cleaner the food better it cheaper to run. and fester in cooking. I live on my own when first started to use the Ninja Air Fryer I lost weight and my dog put weight on I burnt everything, He knew the sound of the Air Fryer better than his name. Am getting better with the Air Fryer now it a Ninja 11 in 1 Thay are well worth the money. thank you for this video
It'll be interesting to see how your tests go.
My instinct is that heavy lid is going to get old, really quickly. I bought an airfryer lid for my instapot. Do I use it? No. I subsequently bought an air fryer because it's a lot less aggro. I also wonder about the safety of getting things out once that lid has heated up to air fry. Are you going to burn your arm?
Thank you for all of the videos you do. Particularly the IP Chicken Teriaki which was awesome.
I bought the airfry lid also I use it all the time. Fish sticks hot dogs chicken nuggets, pastrami and ham for sandwiches, bacon. I even airfry eggs! (aluminum foil shaped to hold the eggs) The only negatives I see is you can only do 1 or 2 servings at a time and I haven't figured a way to do toast yet.
Doesn't look really big on my phone but watching deal with just unpacking plus testing it
Wow a giant yes very can see where you would need a home not somy bring out take back. Gee that would be alot of work. The way my brain has been acting this past yr. Thinking to much to take in can't wait to see what you do with it. 😊
yes i bought it wanted it for 3 years but the price was too high but black friday deal and my birthday came and i gave in and got it!!! Yes intimidating for sure lol
So far did chestnuts and chicken from frozen. still intimidated to do the pressure cooker test lol
i hate non-stick. Once you scratch the surface it starts getting into your food... I'd go for this if someone made 3rd party steel parts for it.
Right now, the OL701 is on sale at Amazon for $229.99+taxes.
Anxious for a follow up!
So many “that’s what she saids”🤣
I just got one for my birthday in April from my kids. I LOVE it! Have used it nearly every day since. I'm especially smitten with using pasta. I made the best Mac & Cheese and also have made spaghetti all in the same pot...twice now!
The only thing I hate is it’s impossible to clean the lid!😢
Just for POV, I'm almost 70 years old and LOVED this video! BTW my InstantPot 8QT Duo Crisp box was 22" wide 18" tall and 15" wide so this unit looks like it's about the same size? I don't recall if you said how many quarts it is? All I know is due to my kitchen if my lid were permanently attached like this one on the Ninja it would kill the sale right there. I have no room to open it. And I moan about my InstantPot being heavy already so that's a second reason I would never buy this Ninja. (I'm going to be shipping this to my daughter soon and getting a smaller pot.) I don't use the air fryer separate lid on my InstantPot Duo Crisp due to it's too heavy too. So I bought a separate air fryer lol. Anyway I also use my InstantPot Duo Crisp a LOT for the Sous Vide cooking. Probably more than anything else. It has a temp setting that it holds the food to so you would think they could add that to the digital part of it for the other cooking so you don't need to have a separate thermometer?? I just love InstantPot's removable lid which is the final deal killer for Ninja cookers ... I park it in my dish drainer when I'm done cooking. (You could also park it in the dishwasher while it cools off)
You look beautiful. I’m going to order one of these just to give it a try. Thank you.
So I'm in the market for a new pressure cooker. My old IP just keeps glitching all the time and giving me the "Burn Error" message. I am not too worried about the price. I've got my selection narrowed down between the Instant Pot Pro Plus WiFi ($199) and this Ninja Foodi Smart XL OL701 (Currently $349 on Ninja's website with a 20% off coupon making it $280). I like both machines so the choice is difficult. Because the Ninja has the non-stick inner pot I probably wouldn't have to worry about receiving a "Burn Error" message. 90% of the time I will be using the machine to pressure cook so I could save myself $80 and go with the Instant Pot Pro Plus WiFi but I'm worried that I will keep getting the "Burn Error" message as it has a stainless steel inner pot. Since the Ninja has the Air Fryer and Steam & Crisp, I probably would give it a go and use it but what is your opinion? Which machine would you go with? Thanks.
I am happy with my instant pot!
First 🇹🇹 🇹🇹 👊🏾..blessings 🙏
You should have shown/included with cooking (something) as well, being that you used the Steamer.
The top looks like it would be hard to clean. Can you do a video on that please.
Great Idea! I've added it to my list. thanks!
Please can you make more recipes with this ninja foodie.
Thank you
This is actually a really good pressure/multicooker, but I think the price makes content creators not make enough videos for it. You'll see a lot of videos for other Ninja products, even the last gen version of this product, but not so much this one. The thermometer is a game-changer. I use mine almost daily.
I bought the top model I seen all the things it was capable of doing pictures and stuff lovely food , unfortunately I’m a bloke and can’t really cook I foolishly thought it would do it all for me , well not exactly all I’m not that stupid but nether the less it’s far to complicated for me , and I am not big on patience reading up on cooking, suppose it’s brilliant if you know how to cook and use this thing
I got a Ninja ad while watching this video. Am I gonna end up with one of these?
lol probably yes, sorry 😅
Thanks so much for your coverage of the Ninja, I have both the Instant Pot Air Fryer together with the Instant Pot Duo "7 in 1", which together cost £142, so I totally agree, not worth the extra for the Ninja. Ok so both Air Fryer and the Duo take up more horizontal space, but I'm totally fine with them not being housed in the same ginormous 8 quart monster Ninja, lol. Thanks so much for all your vids., especially loved your Instant Pot recipes and review of the accessories, please keep up the good work. Liked and subscribed!
Aha, first impressions, heating elements inside a water based pressure cooker, is super dodgy, but it has got to have intelligent switches to disconnect the heating elements from the power source so it does not blow your fuse box. Thanks for your suggestion, will be in touch 👌
PS. Love the Ninja's auto quick release, just wish the Instant Pot could auto switch off after a chosen Lxxx Time, I put that on my review on Amazon, lol
The lids really not that heavy and it does have a huge lift here sticker in orange.
Hi, you really needed to read the instructions more as some of the things you said was wrong, I've been air frying for 32 years my first was the nuwave, I promise that if you bare with it and read the instructions over and over it is the best thing out there. 🍻🙏🙏🙏
this is my next purchase
OMG! It looks as big as a carpet cleaner., and a robot. Danger Will Robinson! I def don't have room for a huge machine, and don't like the lid opening up instead of coming off. Temp probe isn't necessary, and the slider thing to open an close looks like cheap plastic.
I have a 6qt IP Duo Plus 9-in-1 which is simple to use, and enough for me. Plus, the lid comes off.
Oh man i just bought this on sale from ninja website yesterday for 250$ I hope it’s worth hnnnng
add to the Size Count meter 3:51
I was able to buy it for 299$ Canadian for the temp prob less model !!! I’m sure there could be other special, but with the prob the preuve was 525$ Canadian… nope 😢
This is a great cooker and any issues are from the user.
This one looks interesting, however the SIZE (+ weight) is daunting. I'm looking for a pressure cooker with ROASTING/BAKING in particular.
You should have looked on the foodi I site for better prices
u were tryig to open when it still had air in it
It’s a kitchen UFO
I Found this model on clearance at my local Target for $160.00 so I grabbed it. Haven't used it yet , still reading and trying to decide what I want to cook first. But it is an impressive machine. Checked out several videos on this unit and seen one where the built-in thermostat was off by 30 degrees. Will have to experiment and find out if it was just his machine or is it normal for all machines. looking forward to putting it through the paces and hoping it performs well.
No you didnt you got a broken one. Cheapest this ever went down to was $199.99 for a flash sale and sold out in 25 minutes. You dont sell new products on clearance.
Box was prestine, not repackaged. Everything inside was wrapped and all packing materials were in place. Unit works fine. There were two machines on the self both marked for clearance. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Alguien seria tan amable de ponerlo tambien en español
It’s 75 dollars on sale now lol
can you try steam crisping a whole duck instead of a chicken. Something more unusual.Everyone has done chicken Thanks!
It looks like R2D2. Way too big for my kitchen space and out of my price range. Good luck.
hahaha it even kinda sounds like R2D2!
Instant Pot actually have an R2D2 version 😂
