    Finally! Someone who cooks something other than chicken and rice with frozen peas and carrots in a stock! I watched a bunch of videos and they all cook the same thing, which made me think it was the only meal it could cook. Great video, thank you!

    You can buy a sort of grid-mesh to cover the lid inside that keeps it clean and goes in the dish washer... or by hand. Just keeps the top element cleaner.

    It's a wonderful device. I have one and we use it at least once a week. Mine really cooks higher and hotter than a lot of vids I've watched (may be due to our non-humid environment). So, I've learned to turn the temp lower; got it nailed now. Yes, the feet flip in too easily... that is a negative. It takes some fidgeting and working out at times. With the pizza, probably don't need parchment paper because the air needs to circulate underneath. I spray the tray with only avocado or olive oil. Clean-up is a breeze. Great video! Thank you. :)

    • @TastefullyVikkie
      @TastefullyVikkie  8 місяців тому

      It's funny you mention about the slow cooker function. My brother has a Ninja Foodi and doesn't rate the slow cooker function. He's heard you have to sear/get the food up to temperature first in order for it to work. I haven't tried it from cold, so it's worth me testing.

    • @lilacjay
      @lilacjay 8 місяців тому

      The slow cooker function has 3 pre set levels, which cant be turned up or down, I set it to high initially and later turned it down to low. Even in low, it continued to cook at the same level bubbling in a very rapid boil and it was basically just boiling the steak, as there is no control over the temperature and it turned to leather. It also used used up over 3 pints of stock.@@johnnykempo

    10:50 hahaha what are you like
    Try this... put 500ml water in the bottom, then put frozen mackerel fillets on the shelf at the top.
    "Steam Bake" for 15 mins. I can't remember the exact time, it might only be 12 mins, you need to look in the book (frozen fish on Steam Bake is listed around the back of the book somewhere, I think under the pale blue headings) and the water does take a while to get up to temp before it starts cooking, but on the "Steam Bake" setting I think it does have a preheating phase to it (unlike just normal air frying that seems to need about 3 mins adding to any cooking time and unlike the smaller tapered cylinder type fryers that don't start cooking until they get up to temp) so it's OK to put the actual time in.
    *OH MY GOD the fish you end up with at the end!*
    Crispy brown skin and an incredible flavour. It's like I'm eating a totally different food to the usual foil wrapped oven baked fish. Be warned though - the fish does make a mess and gets a bit stuck to the shelf and it's also nearly touching the element at the top of the Ninja, but there is some clearance there. You won't believe how amazing mackerel with skin on (and I guess most other fish like it) comes out doing it this way. Never had fish like it.

    Thank you so much for this Vikkie. My daughter gave me a Ninja Speedi for Christmas and it's great. The instructions that come with it are confusing to me, probably because it does so many different things, and there seem to be so many American recipes using convenience foods, so it was lovely to come across your cookery demonstrations and the recipes look delicious. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to trying them myself. Particularly the pizza's. Can I do a ready prepared chicken pie I bought from the Butchers? It has a pastry topping and is in a foil container. Not sure what temperature I do it on. 🤔

      I thought it was a bit long, but what sold it for me was less pot washing with cooker rice/pasta in the bottom and air fry a meat in the top.

      @TastefullyVikkie we got one a few days ago and today I roasted a whole chicken in it on "steam air fry" - it was amazing and cooked in only 45 mins!

    Hi, Ms. Vicki. Thank you for the educational video. This was what I consider an investment towards time-saving family meal preparation & cooking. Also good to use during warmer months when you want to avoid turning on the oven. I'd say this was worth the money. I just tried it out & made a pork roast with potatoes & carrots following the basic guidelines for the recipe in the Ninja Speedi recipe booklet. I think it turned out nicely & will make it again. My question for you is, have you tried proofing dough for things like homemade cinnamon rolls or a loaf of bread? Can you use a glass dish (like Pyrex or Anchor Hocking) in the Ninja Speedi when proofing the dough, or does it need to be a metal one lined with parchment paper? We have a stove that works just fine it's just older than me so sometimes in order to proof the bread I have to place the dough in baking dish & let it sit covered over the burner that warms up the most when the oven is turned on. It's a bit of a pain if you ask me. Especially if you don't keep a watchful eye on it, the dough can dry out a smidge. I would really like a more efficient way to proof dough

      Apparently, you should only use silicone, plastic or wooden utensils when stirring/serving from the multi-cooker. Metal utensils can damage the teflon & potentially release carcinogenic toxins in your food

      My Smart meter indicates very little. Once it has got up to temperature it can use very low energy to keep such a small space hot. My meter suggests 3 pence an hour.

    I got one of these at sams club $57.00 off from $99.98. I'm hoping to save some energy from using my trad oven. I also have the foodi and you can cook a whole chicken in it. Hope this one is as good... maybe I'll give the foodi to my father. "That sausage looks quite rude right there". HAHA I also wondered how you are supposed to take the air fry tray out while there is food on it.. they should have made a tool to do that. I hope nobody burned their fingers during testing..
