With my own cars where I've bought from Euro, I've used Bosch parts. They tend to cost only a bit more but the quality is much better. My trust motor factor supplies good quality parts at a reasonable price. I only use Millers oils from the same motor factor as it is also reasonbly priced. I've even bought genuine filters from dealers as not everything is stupidly expensive from them.
Buy yourself an electric extractor pump for oil changes on the mercedes 0651 engine's. Just make sure oil is warmed up first. Extract into empty container so clean and easy. The engine is designed to be serviced from the top. Diesel oil is a suspension oil (hence why its so black) as it holds all the contamination in it so no sludge if changed on time. It will extract warm oil in 5-8 mins. Save yourself a lot of time. As you probably found out theres a lot of bolts and shields to remove to get to sump. Mercedes dont do that at main dealer 4:47
Yes I had a tt and getting under it and doing the under plate, I tried an extractor and it worked fine and far less hassle. And am 64 and rolling round the floor is hard
Doesn’t even need to be electric. I use one of those manual pumps. Couple of pumps to get it going and then wait a few mins and the container is full through gravity and vacuum. Also shows you exactly how much oil you have drained out via the gauge printed on the side of the container. Just put the same amount of fresh oil back in and you are close to perfect. Handy on cars with no dipstick where you want to be close to correct before checking the dash board oil level display.
A few years ago I was in the Aylesbury branch of euro car parts , and 2 chaps from Aylesbury Audi were in their buying discs and pads for a customer car being serviced at Audi , it did make me smile and thought yea genuine Audi parts my arse. Euros over the past few years have got very expensive and sell some real crap filters etc , EBay is my go to nowadays
Likewise, I was at a Stoneacre Peugeot getting tyres replaced. ECP man came round, dropped off a box full of filters. Starline... not even Mann or Bosch! Dealers offer two levels of service Brand Original or OEM, where they will fit "quality aftermarket parts" for a more economical service, which is still 40% more than your independent. It's now a Stoneacre Mazda... so good luck you japs.
Great and interesting vlog, in regards to parts I use blue print filters, Westway oil and NGK iridium spark plugs kind regards to you and take care Mark from Billericay 😀😀👍👍
Indeed I agree, when you buy a new battery they come with close fitting protectors over the terminal posts, keep them and put them on the terminal posts when you disconnect a battery..
I have been working on my own cars for over 30 years. Over the years, I have wasted so much time with poor quality parts that don't even make a year before failure. It is very hard to work out what brands are junk and what brands are OK. What worries me is the parts factors only seem to have the cheap ones in stock, so the trade must be fitting junk to many cars in the hope the car gets sold before the part fails.
I fitted a cheap timing belt kit once and one of the idler pulley bearings went bad within 8,000 miles. Since then I only use OEM timing belts & water pumps on my own car.
The worst part is sometimes you buy the part from the same manufacturer that makes the OE part and it doesn't even look the same. It's like if they don't have to slap on a VW logo or whatever they can cheap out on the part.
@@aden3113I think that's true, a few years ago I purchased a Hella AC condenser. It was significantly lighter than the old BMW one and required plastic to be shaved off to make it fit. After all that, it failed 2 years later.
It's got worse in recent years with cheap parts and expensive parts, often you are doing the same job again a year or two later. I've just had to replace 1 lower suspension arm, 1 drop link and 2 rear shocks to get my car through it's MOT and that's all stuff I did 2 years ago. The drop links eapecially - cheap ones expensive ones does not matter a year later I'm doing them again.

Many many people will say ‘as long as it meets the spec, it’s fine’. Yes it is fine but it’s the extra agents that they add in their product that’s important. I wish these engines were around the other way so the inlet would be at the front, it would make it easier to warn up blast it if it needs it, it probably does, pork car is just sitting there doing nothing now, only drove it for one year since I bought it.
How often should the air filter be changed on W211 E220…..2008 round lights… May be I’m confused but I think service manual said every 60k I think it every 15k aprox

GSF for Starter motors and Alternators. The refurb units are basically OEM.👍 Forget those cheap starters from Eurocarparts. They're basically shit and dodgy garages exchange your old unit for bigger profit margin.
You do know that the oil filter is supposed to be replaced first when it's the element type, all the old oil from the filter housing is now in the sump ,merely a suggestion
Not sure this is true as oil held in housing unless engine running. Always mop it out as doesn’t drain away? On my Peugeots anyway. Not an expert just saying as frustrates me mopping out that oil
Your clients are lucky they have you professional thorough guys. Loving your channel as a diy mechanic. I get such anxiety on some jobs where you walk it.
Truth is, if the filter is pointing down, and if it haven’t been turned on for a long time, all the oil would have drained already- that’s true for this vehicle (as you saw in the video, the filter was dry). I see that they’re just concerned.
At the end of the day the filter holds a tiny percentage of the total oil capacity so I wouldn't really worry about it. The fresh oil will dilute that down even further.
Main dealers use "equivalent oil" which can be cheap. I found out a Hyundai dealer over filled my I30N engine with cheap oil when servicing it even though it had a sticker in the engine bay stating Shell Helix. I had to remove the over filled oil at home which was about 3/4 litre over filed by siphoning out of the dip stick tube. Hyundai UK arranged for another dealership to do another oil change using Shell Helix which I insisted on watching them do. Next service was carried out at the second dealership and I checked the car before driving it away. NEVER trust a main dealer always check your car after a service and get a second opinion from an independent garage when you are told " your brake discs and pads are worn " as main dealers don't explain that brakes do wear but have limits when they need replacing.
@@rodpanhard Yes I have heard that. A Volvo apprentice wasn't insured to drive customer cars from the main dealer car park into the garage but could work on them. Totally nuts. I feel so sorry for apprentices who are under paid but expected to do the same job which is similar to slave labour at £6.40 an hour.
Glad I found your channel. Looking forward to the giveaway. Do you get discounts at ECP for being in the trade? I don't find their prices very good any more.
Yeah I do. Trade ‘Discount’ isn’t really much compared to Retail pricing anymore to be honest- I’d say few pennies difference with cheaper parts and few pounds for more expensive parts
@@themarvelousvlog Try GSF bud, much better prices for us nowdays. I priced a sensor the other day £112 from ECP, £45 from GSF for the exact same sensor
@themarvelousvlog yeah GSF and SES autoparts are my go to and halfords is good coz its just eurocar parts sending it to halfords sadly euros bought gsf so i recon theyll disappear.
@@themarvelousvlogGSF is now owned by LKQ.(euro parent company), so prices will be very similar , Euro as we know sell some crap , I won't deal with them as not happy with local branch manager , dealt with them for years , then he came up with silly rules or won't give discount, public can buy cheaper off them online off their many sites
Those alternators from gsf are junk, I had one a couple of weeks ago that was usless, straight out the box you couldn't spin it. We stopped using them now.
Coolant leak developed a year after due to the pipe cracking. Oil leak is DEFINITELY coming from the sump- also a hairline crack. I know this is not related to the rebuild at all
Mannol oil is a brand from Germany, I have used it in my car and it's absolutely fine. Most of the oils are made by the same people just with different packaging
I wanted to comment on the non payer for diagnostic but it wouldn’t let me. Maybe when you go for a diagnostic to a new customer, you get the initial call out fee straight away, then once you’ve spent your time and expertise finding the problem, they pay you your diagnostic fee to get your findings. 😉
I was fully aware of this. Car has not been started for a whole day. Filter is also pointing down which means all oil will have to go down. You can see on the video that the oil filter element is dry as anything, same goes for the housing. Thank you for the advice though. I’ll make sure to keep this in mind 🫡
The market is flooded with shite parts now, before corona you had shite, parts fit for the job, oem and dealer. The middle ground has been filled up with cheap shite at higher prices, it's a minefield that's hardly worth the hassle. Fit proper parts or expect it to fail is my motto now, I refuse jobs where people ask me to fit amazon or evil bay china copies.
Liquimoly is the business! When i had my jeep grand cherokee crd, i only used liquimoly toptech and a premium oil filter. Always had a clean awsome running engine and incredible fuel economy.
@@themarvelousvlog yes that’s what I meant, watching the video with the Mann filters got me typing the wrong name, I think it’s just a average brand and it’s cheap to be honest, I used millers oil last year but that was there premium 0w20 oil which was expensive, Tesco oil is supplied by Carlube and I heard the Halfords one is castrol but that was years ago so don’t know about now
@ImranAli-rp4kd from I heard Halfords is now TQx which is ECPs main brand. Don’t know if you know this but LKQ bought Halfords like 2 years ago I think 😭 I’m trying to secure a contract with Liqui Moly so I can supply them as I believe they have the best oil out there
One of my cars is a cheap old scrapper and i bought it for that for the ££ rather than the usual Mobil1 type - and tbh it seemed pretty good to me. I think their a good company thats just a less hear of brand here
You won't get better than MANN filters. They are fitted to most vehicles from the factory and are built to oe standards. Usually see vw audi group badge next to the MANN one.
@@98045 I disagree. Yes some are fitted from factory, however when you compare OEM to these parts from ECP, you will realise the difference. When I was doing mobile mechanic work like this lad (going back to 2016) I tried them all and then settled on Mahle for a while when I couldn't get dealer parts. One thing for sure, I would t buy from ECP again after how many times the incorrect parts were handed to me, wasting my callouts on numerous occasions.
I would say the euro car parts brand of audura eicher crossland Get: Bosch Mann Hengst Delhpi Brembo Apec Stuff you can rely on overtime youll learn whats bollux whats not

@joem8213 Crossland oil filter had collapsed on me twice, caused low oil pressure twice and I had to go back to the customer’s to explain that it’s the manufacturer’s fault. Lost the customer in the process. Not all parts are made equal, trust me
@@DarkReaper-or9elBosch air filters aren't so great anymore I have found they have skimped on the metal supports on some and the filter collapsed in the housing under induction vacuum. Not good. Stuck to mann now or hengst
For years I used supermarket oils and never had any engine issues on diesel or petrol vehicles. However, the after obtaining a renault scenic diesel i switched to shell helix and within a few months the turbo failed. Once the turbo was repaired and all pipes were cleaned i fitted a clean oil filter and filled up with fresh Shell helix. Within 40 miles the big ends failed! I'm sure it was just coincidence. NEVER trust a main dealer always check your car after a service and get a second opinion from an independent garage when you are told " your brake discs and pads are worn " as main dealers don't explain that brakes do wear but have limits when they need replacing.
Main dealers often give basic servicing to the apprentices so you are often paying top dollar for some newb kid to work on your car.
I’d say GSF is my main supplier; totally agree that they’re cheaper nowadays. Less miserable people in there too 😂
@themarvelousvlog yeah GSF and SES autoparts are my go to and halfords is good coz its just eurocar parts sending it to halfords sadly euros bought gsf so i recon theyll disappear.
So you have rebuilt the engine and it has an oil and coolant leak!😮
Coolant leak developed a year after due to the pipe cracking.
Oil leak is DEFINITELY coming from the sump- also a hairline crack.
I know this is not related to the rebuild at all
Is mannol oil any good it's very cheap at the mo
Mannol oil is a brand from Germany, I have used it in my car and it's absolutely fine. Most of the oils are made by the same people just with different packaging
The way you said Mike Foxtrot at that parts counter makes me think you have some background in Aviation, or law enforcement!
Aviation I do. I have a few hours on my name as a learner 😂
Where can we buy Made in Japan bearings for cars, like Koyo, NTN brand bearings
Local industrial bearing supplier
Class great info and hard workers
I wanted to comment on the non payer for diagnostic but it wouldn’t let me. Maybe when you go for a diagnostic to a new customer, you get the initial call out fee straight away, then once you’ve spent your time and expertise finding the problem, they pay you your diagnostic fee to get your findings. 😉

How you finding that NOGO booster pack?
Thinking of getting one for work.
Nothing better than it mate. Even if you make the tiniest contact on terminals, it will still jump any car. £300 but honestly the best purchase
A cabin filter really doesn't matter what make it is.
That’s quite debatable I’d say but I don’t disagree with you at all; I just like using the best one there possible
All that jewellery risks scratching the car.
Remove the oil filter before dropping the oil out. Bro now the oil will drop into the sump that u just drained.
The way that the oil filter housing is setup, I don’t think this will matter for this car but I know what you mean, I do that on certain cars
Your knee pads are in back to front. Flip them around and feel the difference
excellent work! new sub!
How do tell the difference in quality other than the price and brand ?
Difference of parts quality?
Just found your channel couple days ago i wanna go into this trade im doing LV3 at college
Keep going bud! As long as you’re confident to be out there on your own, do it!
Good luck and thank you for supporting the channel 🙌🏽
Bro what areas do u cover in uk?
Mechanic: "Why you licking that, mate?"
Dog: "You said it was a Dog Bone"
You should have removed the oil filter while oil draining as it holds old oil
I was fully aware of this. Car has not been started for a whole day. Filter is also pointing down which means all oil will have to go down. You can see on the video that the oil filter element is dry as anything, same goes for the housing.
Thank you for the advice though. I’ll make sure to keep this in mind 🫡
If the case wasn't damage on that alternator I would of rebuilt it because I have the skills to do just that
I wish I could rebuild an alternator man. That will be sick!
@@themarvelousvlog it not as hard as you mite think
@@themarvelousvlog you will pick up very quick iv watch the way you work you are really good!
Great work..👍..where are you based?
All over the country really mate. Send us a message on our email or instagram if you need jobs doing 💪🏽
Manns got filters for days 🙈😂
Looks like a familiar scirocco 😅
You know it 🤢
The market is flooded with shite parts now, before corona you had shite, parts fit for the job, oem and dealer. The middle ground has been filled up with cheap shite at higher prices, it's a minefield that's hardly worth the hassle. Fit proper parts or expect it to fail is my motto now, I refuse jobs where people ask me to fit amazon or evil bay china copies.
Don’t ever use generic wheel speed sensors on a Mercedes, they never work only the genuine ones do as I found out!
Agree! OEM brands should be okay too
A good reach around 😳🤣
I just found your channel you make it look easy work i like your dog what’s is name 👍🏼👍🏼
you guys are awesome you are really thorough in what you do Nice to see good mechanics
Liquimoly is the business! When i had my jeep grand cherokee crd, i only used liquimoly toptech and a premium oil filter. Always had a clean awsome running engine and incredible fuel economy.
Mann oil is very popular and shops claim it’s great but I’m skeptical, what you think of it ?
I’m assuming you meant to say Mannol Oil? I’ve heard that they’re on par with TQX from Euro 🤔
Don’t know if you know this but LKQ bought Halfords like 2 years ago I think 😭
I’m trying to secure a contract with Liqui Moly so I can supply them as I believe they have the best oil out there
Im assuming mannol ive used on 2 setvices on my peugeot 308 seemd alright atm
One of my cars is a cheap old scrapper and i bought it for that for the ££ rather than the usual Mobil1 type - and tbh it seemed pretty good to me. I think their a good company thats just a less hear of brand here
where are u based ?
is triple qx oil good quality?
Cooking oil
I thought you said you don't use poor quality filters? ECP and mann don't equate to quality in my eyes.
Where would you suggest I buy my parts?
@@themarvelousvlog make trade accounts with main dealers. You will be shocked at how little price difference there is
Can you change dsg clutch
Not something that we do bud. SUUUPER massive of a job if done Mobile- I'm sure someone will do it mobile
what brands of the cheap brands to avoid?
I would say the euro car parts brand of audura eicher crossland
Get:
Bosch
Mann
Hengst
Delhpi
Brembo
Apec
Stuff you can rely on overtime youll learn whats bollux whats not
@@DarkReaper-or9el
I purchase all my lubricants from "Westway oils' a British company, fantastic service.
I used a Crossland oil filter for my mazda 3, works perfectly fine and no problems. I would happily use any products from euro car parts, most of the time you're just paying extra for the named brands
Buy cheap parts you will do job twice... We all mechanics want fit good quality parts... But people vary often cant affor d it..😢
Great video but I would suggest taking the oil filter out while it's draining or before as you haven't technically drained all the oil .
No way I remember you buying your toolbox from my mate at work
Somewhere near Liverpool? 😂
I think he could get man united challenging again if given the money..
i do wish i could find a machanic as reliable as you im sick of cowboys
For years I used supermarket oils and never had any engine issues on diesel or petrol vehicles.
However, the after obtaining a renault scenic diesel i switched to shell helix and within a few months the turbo failed. Once the turbo was repaired and all pipes were cleaned i fitted a clean oil filter and filled up with fresh Shell helix. Within 40 miles the big ends failed! I'm sure it was just coincidence.
Now use Mannol as recommend by a mechanic friend.
Which mannol are you using. I have a toyota avensis diesel and I want to try mannol during the next service and how much did you pay for mannol oil
Me too mate, Mann
Mann parts are made in Germany I've never had any problems with them
