For my son's destination wedding on Clearwater Beach Florida 3 weeks ago, I made 24 sunglass cases from leftover scraps from a camping/ hunting quilt, and a tropical beach theme quilt that I had made before.Camping/ hunting theme for men, and tropical prints for women. I purchased the in R foam and 2 dozen neon colored sunglasses from Amazon. Matched the colors of glasses to sunglass cases, printed thank you notes from computer. Tied them on with ribbon.Everyone thought I was amazing. It only cost me my time and maybe 40$ for glasses and foam. Love all you videos!
I watched the tutorial twice, then a 3rd time while I followed along and made a sunglasses case! What a sense of accomplishment! The tutorial was great. I can make a case in under 15 minutes! Great stocking stuffers! Thank you!
Great tutorial, thanks. I decided to make this for my husband who is always misplacing his spec cases. I have the R Foam you mention but sometimes it creases and it's hard to get the crease out. So I decided to use some heavy duty one sided Fusible Stabiliser. I am very pleased with how it turned out, sufficiently padded. Oh I added a handy pocket inside to keep a wiping cloth.
Hello there Miss Crafty. Just wanted to stop by and say these Tutorials are Great😄👍😄👍😄I tried the Childrens Fleece cap & it came out Great, but for some reason it was to small. I totally shocked myself in just how Store Quality it came out to look, but afain it came out to small😞😞😞I fallowed Everything to the 1/4 inch seam allowance and it came out smaller than my 6vyr old Granddaughters head. Her gead measurements were the Same as Your measurements so I'm stumped, but over all. Thank You for teaching this youbg lady some Bew tricks. I haven't sewn in Over 30 Years and I had accidentally came across your Tutorials on "How Too's" and you peaked my interest. So low & behold this Grandmother pulled out her sewing machine and started doodling around again & All because of YOU 👍😄👍😄👍This has been really fun again trying something new. Now I'm looking forward into trying your Sunglass Cases. You Definitely made it look Easy. You're very good in your Teaching skills also. Well again. Thank You Honey for Teaching this "Young Girl" 😉😉some New & Easy tricks. Keep them coming 👍😄👍😄👍
I certainly enjoy your tutorials. My 12 year old granddaughter is coming for a week's visit and her mother warned me I would have to help her keep up with her glasses. As I had wanted to introduce her to sewing, I've decided this would be the perfect project to make one of these cases for her glasses. Hopefully she will use it when she removes her glasses and your tutorial will encourage her to begin sewing. Thanks!
This was so easy! My 87 year old aunt has been wanting a cloth case for several years, and you can not find them in stores. She will love it and it took me 10 minutes to make! Thank you!
This is exactly the project I was searching for today. Thanks. Of course, I stitched my case with it longer, but I can go back and redo that seam if my husband wants a shorter case.
So I just made my first project with my first sewing machine and it turned out beautifully. I learned so much - your tutorial was perfect, all the detail I needed to succeed. Thank you!
You are a wonderful teacher and you make the video so interesting. For such a young woman you are very knowledgeable and give tons of wonderful tips. I really enjoy watching your videos
Great fun tutorial, thanks. I stitched an applique on my outer plain fabric first not realising I would need to fold over the short edges. I took a chance and stitched it lengthways (unlike you say in the video) so that my applique would stay the right way up. I then cut two inches off the bottom. Luckily the opening is plenty wide enough...pheew! That will teach me to listen through the video before starting!
YOU are an excellent teacher, Vanessa! ☺ Seven years after you made this tutorial, I searched for "sew sunglasses case" and chose your video first. I have never seen your videos but now, I've subscribed because you have inspired me! I haven't sewn in years but I have a new sewing machine and need a new sunglasses case so here I am. My sunglasses were just floating around in my purse and as hard as I tried to keep them from scratching, it didn't keep one of the arms from breaking. 😔 I am very sensitive to light so I had to rush out for a new pair and now, I need to protect them. Thank you for the links to the products you used. I was sure that the interfacing was going to be a problem for me. Can you (or anyone else) tell me what that little tab is for? 🥴 Thanks a million! I'm excited to go visit your page now. 🤗🥳
Thanks for one of the best sewing videos I've seen. Great job on explaining what to do and placement of your camera. Im a beginner and I had no problem understanding .
Followed along and made me one! I did add a snap to hold my eyeglasses in place and used a mid to heavy interfacing which is all I had on me at the time. Thanks for the great tutorial.
Hello there, Just wanted to let you know that I sewed with you and just finished my case. It looks pretty, I think. Did not really have much choice in my fabric as I am a beginner but nevertheless I am pretty satisfied. I won't post a picture but I sure want to thank you big time. You made it easy and fun. Thank you again and Happy New Year 2016 ;)
I think this is an amazing tutorial. You are very clear and precise. I have fabric but no foam or fusible wadding. As I am a beginner I will definitely try this. Thank you.
Vanessa, wanted to show you my iPhone case to protect my phone. Your eyeglass case was my inspiration, I’m also putting a snap to keep it from falling out.
So cute and easy! I was looking a tutorial for a glasses case to store my rotary cutters in away from my granddaughter's curious eyes. I have watched several of your tutorials in the last few days and love them. TFS!
Love your tutorials. I actually made something like this but never came out. I did it by own error and trial. Now saw your tutorial. I hope to try this way and hope for it to come out right.
This is an excellent tutorial. You have a wonderful, clear voice. Your instructions are easy to follow. Many thank yous for making a great project whilst the pandemic continues. By the way: my daughter uses one of these for her Iphone XR - fits perfectly.
My stepmother is a fantastic seamstress who always says, You sew with your iron ! And I agree. I hate how on some tutorials they start of with crushed up fabric, and don’t press at all.
+TheCraftyGemini Love your videos! I'm looking to replace my trusty 20+ yr old iron. Do you really like this one? I quilt and do other sewing crafts. Thanks in advance!
After having had yet another pair of sunglasses stolen from our vehicle, case and all, I decided to sew my own case rather than trying to find one I like. Thank You for an easy to follow video!
Vanessa, I would also suggest instead of the little handle using elastic so u\you can place the case around the visor in your car. Not sure of anyone else but I am forever looking for my sunglasses in the car. Now I just need some of the In-R-Form-Plus to make these. Hmm maybe stocking stuffers in the making.
Great tutorial! The case can also be for eye glasses of course. I have several pairs of sun and reading glasses that are in sandwich baggies. I really need to do this project!
+TheCraftyGemini pretty much Pia Rebentisch says she doesn't understand what you're saying but she can see what you do, and that your work is really pretty. That's a big complement, cuz you show things so clearly that language isn't a barrier:):):)
Just made a cute sunflower themed sunglasses case and your cute ironing board with a Betty Boop pattern. For my first glasses case I didn't do too bad and I love love love the ironing board. Simplicity. Love your videos. I would post the pics but don't see how.
One thing I learned the inconvenient way ... measure your glasses, as some are wider than others. My glasses are over sized, so they're larger than some. I also used a thin velcro strip, to keep my glass from ever slipping out.

Found this four years later, but it's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, and subscribed! :)

I used a chopstick also! Almost every video I see use some fancy tool. Very easy tutorial. I love it!
Thank for this quick and easy sunglass case. I plan on having my elementary students make this in the in the fall.
