6/20/22: I made two of these, the first of which I followed your instructions to the letter, and the second one I did my own take on it. When after the interface has been applied and the two pieces are sewn, right sides together, I flipped it over to the right side and stitched a 1/8" line across the short side where both seams meet to give it a finishing touch. I did not come up 9” because it left me with a very little flap, so I opted for 8” instead, which worked out perfectly. I didn’t leave the opening up at the side near the rounded corner because I had a hard time flipping it to the right side after the fact. I therefore left a 3” opening on one of the sides and it was easy peasy to turn out. And lastly, I not only stitched around the upper rounded corner, but I stitched 1/8” around the entire piece, top to bottom. It, again, gave it a nice finishing touch. I noticed that this is not only good for sun/eyeglasses, but for cell phones too! How clever. Anyway, thank you for the inspiration and for you taking the time to do and post this tutorial. I’m in love with it and am going to go buck wild making many! 😊
I just made this. The video is clear and easy to follow! Thank you. These kinds of videos can sometimes be difficult because of angles not being optimal for what is happening or jargon that only experts or insiders know. In fact, I watched several other vids prior to this. But, this is the one that I used. My spouse is doing some intensive schooling and asked me to order them something to hold their 3x5 study flash cards. Something not a box, something easy to find in their backpack, at least 15 of them an it would be best the holder were soft- they told me. After scouring shopping websites and not finding what they needed the DIY part of me roared. This, with the pattern tailored for 3x5 card dimensions, was exactly what they wanted. I used both the button/elastic closure and the snap closure. While both of those worked the quickest has been some self adhering Velcro coins. From a very happy, studious major in the Air Force and their DIY spouse: Thank you again for this wonderful and helpful video.
6/19/22: I've seen many tutorials on how to make eye/sunglass cases, but this one, in particular, caught my eye, especially because of the flap and snap. I love the two elements. I plan to make one, two or more today, provided the first one comes out to my liking. Thank you so much for sharing this technique. It's great and I'm excited! 🙂
Awesome pattern and, like you said, very quick to put together. Your videos are informative, not too dragged out and are quite doable for the even beginner sewers. My first one was a great success and now I’m going to play around with piecing some patchwork, some quilting, different closures, etc. Thank you!
So so pretty !! You must have itty bitty fingers because that opening was so small I couldn't get in there to turn it out and ended up ripping the fabric a bit. So I decided to do the opening on one side where I could make a bigger area, then did top stitching all around the case to give a good finish. I did both a curved top and also a envelope type flap and they both look great. Thanks for the tutorial!
This was a great tute . The first one I made turned out too big, but I put it to good use as it was perfect for storing my largest rotary cutter. I adjusted the size to 4-1/2" x 17-1/2" and it turned out a much better size for spectacles or sunglasses. I substituted velcro for the fastening. A bit fiddly sewing the velcro onto the body of the case, but I used fabric glue to hold it in place while I stitched it. Will have to try making some with a different fabric on the flap. You didn't give instructions for those, but I should be able to work it out. Thank you.
This is the easiest and best tutorial. I made a phone case using this tutorial a few months ago, and now i need to make a credit card case and I'm so glad I found this video again.
Love this tutorial thank you, I made one for my dad and did an embroidery design on the front. I can't wait to give this to my dad as a birthday gift. My Husband has also asked me to make him one.
Loved the way you gave the instructions. Nice and slow and no rush. So when I would pause, it was easy to not miss the next step. Nearest looks so beautiful and that little tea cup and such a cute idea. So I will be copying that as well. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. Great instructions. I bought my grandchildren some funny St.Patrick's Day glasses and made them each a case to carry them in.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful ideas. I love this! I made one straight away. It’s perfect. I’m blown away how easy it was. Thank you Thank you 🙏
you are a great teacher. I love your wonderful tutorials. love them. I am a very new beginner and you make things so easy. thank you thank you for making my weekend!!!!
I love that the case has that "finished" look. I have tried this a couple of ways. One with a straight edge, one with a rounded edge and I'm working on one with no flap at the top. My only problem is using a one way pattern. I learned the hard way with my first case that there has to be adjustments made for the one way print fabric. It took a bit to figure out but of all the videos for these cases, this one is by far my favorite. Thank you for sharing it!
Oh, my goodness! That was such a great tutorial! You did such a great job explaining how to make this lovely glasses case with no visible seams! I'm headed to my sewing machine right this minute! I have a feeling I'll be making a LOT of these for gifts (and for myself, too)! Thank you!
I love this video. So simple to do yet looks very professional. I’m making a case for my husband right now. I searched through many videos and this is the best one. Thanks for sharing.
Merci très bonne idée. Je ne parle pas anglais, mais les gestes sont faciles à deviner.Pensez à bien cadrer pour que l'on puisse voir tous les mouvements.Merci pour votre partage et au plaisir de vous revoir sur votre chaîne.
I will definitely be making some of these. I would never have believed a lining put in like that could work if I hadn't seen it for myself. That was amazing ‼‼
Thank you, I can't wait to make one! I think I will use the button or some velcro. Knowing me, I would push down too hard to close a snap and break my glasses lol
I love the case but I the snap a bit differently. I did the snap on the flap as you did but before the two sides are closed I put the female snap on the facing fabric so when the case is turned the snap is not exposed. Since the snap back is not exposed in the lining it prevents the snap scratching glasses lens. Awesome instructions and easy to follow video!
Thanks for posting this. I made it! YAY. I followed your instructions to the tee and I think 9" may be a little tall unless I missed something at that point. I'll adjust shorter on the next one. Thanks again.
you all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Felipe Chandler I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
You did a great job with the instructions. Very clear and detailed, especially for someone who does not sew a lot. I wish you were working 100% in view of the camera.Thank you.
Great Gina. I just bought some cheap readers to have by my sewing machine and other places so this tutorial is very timely. I'm also going to be making a passport holder for a friend so this will be a nice accompaniment!
You really have the best tutorials. When you make something I always feel like I can make it too Do you have a Fannie pak tutorial...thanks a bunch your stuff is so much fun
This is a great easy pattern, I have made a few. The size was great for Sunglasses but I cut the size down for my readers and it still worked out great.
Grazie Gina ho fatto alcuni porta occhiali come li hai fatti tu e sono venuti molto bene e si fanno molto velocemente anche se non so parlare inglese ma le tue spiegazioni sono state perfette grazie ancora un saluto dall'Italia
Love your video. I've been looking for ideas of a DIY sunglass/eyeglass case that is easy, quick and inexpensive to make but I don't want it to look cheap. Especially for a gift. I don't mind to sew, and I love your idea the most. It fits my needs perfectly. Also your design looks very professional. I could see these on the market. Have you thought about selling them?
Your fabric choices are always so beautiful and interesting! That is what draws me to your tutorials. Then, I love your ideas. I’m saving this to make . . . after I finish your reversible fat quarter bag. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for a great and easy project. I will be making one for my phone and one for my glasses. Can you try to make one for glasses and cell phone with a little pouch for the stylus? Love it and thanks again.

I have never seen the sewing out at the turning opening trick before. That is brilliant! Great project, thank you so much.

I think I would probably use the Velcro. Or a magnetic closer just so I wouldn't have to press to snap. Great idea. Thanks for sharing👍

You are a good teacher. Clear directions. To stay in frame, you might try placing painter's tape down to give you a visual frame to stay within.

A great work. Thank you very much, I love the fact that no sewing is apparent. And the material is very fun.
Loved the way you gave the instructions. Nice and slow and no rush. So when I would pause, it was easy to not miss the next step. Nearest looks so beautiful and that little tea cup and such a cute idea. So I will be copying that as well. Thank you.

Thank you already followed this a few years ago but going to make several cases today, and you do a really easy to follow tutorial.

Great way to use up all those leftover quilting pieces...I've made three already!

Great project! I just wish your camera was focused better on what you were doing. Thanks for the great idea!
