Great guide! Much better than the typical "just get some basic gear" and proceeds to throw on an Enigma, Maras, 2x SoJ, etc... Ya know, "basic gear" that is "pretty easy to get" lol
Great guide D2D2! You have to desync/g-walk with hotkeys to be good and enjoy the character. Charge/vigor to move and hammer/concentration to attack. - I prefer using guardian angel whenever i'm able to keep 125fcr and have great resists instead of vipermagie. Also using Wizardspike is a great option if you are inbetween spirit and hoto as a weapon. 30/40 frw on boots is a must because of using charging/vigor all the time. - Try making Insight in any 4os polarm that drops for your mercenary. (also collect these runes to be able to reroll a good insight in a good base, most hammerdin will use insight until they get enigma) - Collecting spirits runes (tal, thul, ort, amn) is very important because you will most likely reroll your shield to get 35 fcr. - Also having Nokozan amulet or hotspur boots is great because, where you thrive farming is heavy on fire dmg (chaos/travincal). - My first expensive runeword that I make on an hammerdin is always CTA. The boost of life and mana is really important for you.
Honestly one of the best guides I've seen for D2. Seems like most guides are based on "optimal" builds with a lot of nitpicking about this or that item giving a few percent better performance. I like how you showed that a relatively decent character can be made with very little time and effort. The caveat being of course that you had a character pre-leveled :)
hey dude , thx 4 the write-up & im glad u liked the vid : ) i totally agree w/ wat u said about most guides , tats wat inspired me 2 make these budget vids .. imo , we need more of gettin ppl onboard w/ budget gear since not evry1 is rich pre-lvled char is fair criticism , but if i did include the whole lvlin process then tats a whole diffrent vid&topic .. focus here is just on settin up the char after lvlin it , which is a common problem on bnet or even on sp .. tat alrdy took a half hour by itself xD
Protip for before level 18: 1 point in Charge, Zeal, Might, Blessed Aim, and Holy Freeze or Holy Fire is all you need early on, in fact that can carry you well into the 40s with found gear, even in multiplayer. No need to waste a restat between 18 and 60 or whenever you actually go for hammers! Or if you do want to waste a re-stat but be able to solo faster or even carry others in multiplayer, you can do 2-3 Zeal and start maxing Holy Fire as it scales really nicely in normal. If you get rushed and are weak, it may be worth putting a point into conviction so you can support a team of sorcs zons and assassins just by standing around, but later on you may find that to be a waste of points for it and the pre-reqs, so you may need to re-stat if you do that.
Great video! I would also suggest putting 1 point into redemption aura, you can use it to refill your life and mana bars to full after taking out a wave of mobs before switching to vigor for mobility - does wonders for your sustain so you don't need a full inventory of pots XD
Depending on your added skills, not at all. At only level 6 for instance it has a 59% chance to redeem each corpse around you, and give you 50 life and mana per corpse. So if you kill 20 mobs and turn it on, statistically its going to consume around 12 of them x 50 = 600 health / mana in a second or two.

Great guide. Managed to get out of Nightmare Act5 by overhaul my paladin. Didn't took me long to beat Hell Baal. Farmed tower to get Enigma, farmed andariel for Jordan and other stuff and Mephisto for Aracnic Belt, were good to go.

I have the same question. Concentration works at 50% efficiency for the blessed hammer's damage. So putting the first point there gives you 30% damage increase, while all the subsequent points will give you 7.5% damage boost for each point. In comparison, putting a point in either of the two synergies results in 14% damage increase. Therefore, if we don't consider a mercenary, it's most reasonable to first put a single point in concentration, then max out both synergies, and only after that max out concentration. Btw, concentration similarly gives only half of its' bonus to allies.
Hey, i followed your guide on a super budget hammerdin and i used hero edit just to level 65 and i got almost exact your gear but with consec aura my hammers just do 900 dmg.. did they change so much in 3 years or is something wrong with my character?

Having been playing through again on bnet (solo no bot games). I cannot stress enough how important gold is for gambling. I've gotten a 3 to combat skills ammy from it and a solid circlet too. The pit is far superior to nightmare cows too but I totally get why you recommend it. Either way solid video and advice. :) Gl with the influx of people looking for videos like this in d2r. :)

I had a zealot who got his ass kicked when i started hell mode - so i ended with the build in this video using respec. And now its going really well. I am playing PlugY 1.13d. What i want, is to get a nice end game hammerdin as well as a nice end game zealot - Using grief, call to arms and so on. I can farm the pits no problem, and i just finished Andy on Hell for the first time with this build. Would like to hear what you think i should to now :) Thank you for your time.

Im playing with a Frozen Zealot, it's actually very fun. Next I'll try the Hammerdin for sure. After this base gear, there's a "most have" item that a Hammerdin needs for endgame gear? Like Enigma or some unique shield? Or what you recommend to aim for next? Farming on Hell Pit is for getting some especial item for the build or just farming in general? I hope you can made more videos like this on the near future with other classes, many Diablo UA-camrs shared some endgame perfect builds but they forget to show where to start.

why is the hammerdin good? lets see.. you have unblockable aoe damage that 1shot almost anything in the game and you can spam them out, and there are almost no immunes! so, overpowered damage, thats it? ofc not, paladins are also the tankiest guys in the game cuz you can use paladin shields that themself are op as fuck with alot of block, res and low stat requirement and combined with holy shield you can get to max block with very little stats needed in dex. But the most OP thing is enigma, especially for hammerdins since teleport is not just a travel skill for a hammerdin, you cannot aim the hammer so you telestomp them with enigma instead. enigma is OP on many characters but on a hammerdin it goes from OP to totally fucking broken. oh did i say you can stack MF with this guy aswell? yes thats right, you teleport around the world superfast with an immortal character that puke out magic hammers that wreck anything in their way easier than anyone else, in your magic find gear. Hammerdins are so broken it should make it to some kind of top 10 list
Gotta Reskill to Smiter for Uber which is the single best Uber build and coincidentically also a Paladin. :D Also you totally forgot the hidden faster block rate on Holy Shield: Necro/Druid (and those are not even the worst, bear-Druid starts at 12 and Amazon vs melee at 17) FBR Frames 0% 11 6% 10 13% 9 20% 8 32% 7 52% 6 86% 5 174% 4 600% 3 Paladin (Without Holy shield) FBR Frames 0% 5 13% 4 32% 3 86% 2 600% 1 Paladin (With Holy shield) FBR Frames 0% 2 86% 1 Like yeah, let Pala just block more than 5 times as fast, why not? Sorc needs 5000% FBR to reach 2 frames, not even sure how that's even possible.

It may have just been me min maxing something because I was godly geared. Distinctly I remember toggling two auras rapidly back and forth while spamming hammers. I think it was fanaticism and blessed aim. One to crank out hammers faster and the other to magnify dmg. I would work my fingers to death rapidly.
for nl try rhyme in a 2os pally shield until u can get hoz , wep can b a +3 hammer scepter from drognan ( w/ +3 conc. aura if ur patient lol ) .. make sure u use a map where the a2 exit is next to him b4 to save time
4os broad/crystal sword from norm cows , shield can b any 4os sacred targe from nm cows make sure ur usin plugy if ur on solo player or u wont b able 2 use the spirit rw
Pluggy now support 1.14d, but if you don't want to use Pluggy but still want to unlock ladder runewords then I believe there is a runes.txt file that you can just put it into some folder inside D2 directory and it will do the trick.

Back in the days of yore when D2 was new, Concentration affected the damage of Blessed Hammer at full value, but it was a bug, not something intended by game design. Blizzard fixed this bug in a patch and the players SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER so in the next patch Blizzard purposely made Concentration affect Blessed Hammer but only at 50% of its nominal effect. Many players continued to whine for a while after that wistily pining after their once-godly Hammerdins but that’s the way it’s been for nearly 20 years now. And Hammerdins are still among the most powerful builds just not head-and-shoulders better than the next best build causing 90% of the competitive player base to play Hammerdins. Also, Blizzard never changed the tooltips so new casual players who don’t read guides or really dig into the game mechanics don’t know that Concentration affects Blessed Hammer (at 50%) but no other non-physical damage.

You can also get Ort runes from rescuing the barbs quest in A5. Also, that was a pretty nice caster belt craft! Also, also, Good vid!!!

that doesnt sound right , u sure u put 20 pts. hammers & 20 pts into synergies ? & u hav conc aura active ?
if you want a weapon before you can get spirit you can get a cheap wand with fcr from nightmare akara and look for rings with magic fcr

Found a couple by just playing through the game and picking up jewels. Might have been lucky - who knows.
The worst problem of this is that you start with a character from lvl 75 instead of 1, like all of us plebs.
as i said at the start , much of this is 4 the bnet ppl who get their chars high lvl but hav no idea how to gear
if ur lookin for 1-75 instead , go watch d2 hell speedruns

no but u can use hero editor to create 1 if u rly want .. u miss out on the fun & struggle of lvlin ur char tho lol
@@D2D2x yeah i just wondered if that was what you did for the video first haha, i just lvled a javazon to 60, act 4 nightmare atm having a blast. would you recomend to start off with a hammerdin when D2R releases or is there a better paladin build to go with? Great video by the way hope you do more when D2R comes aswell!

imho , the "strongest' pally build to start is hdin .. u get max block + @res , gud mobility , aoe , high dmg , & vry few monsters hav high magic res / magic imm .. but despite that , idk if its the "best' to go w/ in the sense that other pally builds ( e.g. zealer , holy shock , vengeance ) r more challengin & arguably more fun

The most stupid thing blizzard North did back then , was to add an African person as a paladin which is totally an utterly stupid to the historical facts of Knights and to the fantasy! I literally ignored the paladin when I firstly opened the game, when I saw an African as a paladin. I was like wtf they are promoting here?

Back in the days of yore when D2 was new, Concentration affected the damage of Blessed Hammer at full value, but it was a bug, not something intended by game design. Blizzard fixed this bug in a patch and the players SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER so in the next patch Blizzard purposely made Concentration affect Blessed Hammer but only at 50% of its nominal effect. Many players continued to whine for a while after that wistily pining after their once-godly Hammerdins but that’s the way it’s been for nearly 20 years now. And Hammerdins are still among the most powerful builds just not head-and-shoulders better than the next best build causing 90% of the competitive player base to play Hammerdins. Also, Blizzard never changed the tooltips so new casual players who don’t read guides or really dig into the game mechanics don’t know that Concentration affects Blessed Hammer (at 50%) but no other non-physical damage.
