    I’ll say that the GSAR has been my go to watch for most occasions for the last 4 years. I’m an active duty military member and the GSAR has served me flawlessly in every environment from mountain tops to aircraft carrier decks to scuba dives in multiple oceans. I’ve abused, beaten and taken my GSAR in some of the most inhospitable places on the globe and it’s kept on ticking with minimal care. I owe my life to it’s durability and reliability and can’t praise of enough. For anyone looking for a watch that will keep up with an active lifestyle, this is the one for you

      @Cory Freeman it wears smaller than a Seiko turtle but the bezel is tall and the serrations are edgy so it catches on a lot more stuff than a turtle would. I’d say it’s somewhat comparable in fit to a G-Shock DW9052

    Bought this GSAR about a year ago and love the watch and the vanilla scented rubber strap it comes with. However the bracelet seemed like the weak link and not really up to the wear and tear the watch is capable of. Ended up getting a StrapCode bracelet which matched the ruggedness of the watch itself. By the way, Teddy is right on the regulation from Marathon. I'm averaging +1 second per day accuracy. GREAT tool watch!!! Thx for the review of it.

    I just picked up a GSAR from a man who had it issued out of fort bragg and used it in Afghanistan. I love that it already has a history of being used in war and has beautiful wear on it due to its adventure. I paid 660 for it with a metal braclet. I'm quite happy. Only problem is its tritium is dying...any tips on having it replaced?

    • @ThinBlueWarrior
      @ThinBlueWarrior 3 роки тому +4

      Try reaching out to their customer service. I’ve heard stories of several watch manufacturers replacing tritium tubes even if out of warranty. They will probably charge but for a watch with history it’s well worth it IMO

  • @RedwoodAggie

    I really like the rugged military nature of the Marathon watches, and this 300M Swiss diver offers decent value for money. There's just something about that tritium lume on the Marathon watches that really draws me to them over other similar style watches. Nice review of the model, but I know you've got this review thing down pat.

      Not only stamped but also costs around 200usd.
      I just bought the watch (not from Teddy) and paid extra for the bracelet since gsar is one of my dream watches.
      One more thing:
      Watch is so thick not because of water resistance but because of tritium tubes stack on top of each other on every hand. 300m is not that big of a deal these days.
      Stamped clasp is a disgrace at this pricepoint.

    I have had three US Government GSAR’s. The first one I sent back after a year of use because the tritium vials fell off in three places. They sent me back the watch with a new face which barely glowed. I sent the watch back to them and they sent me a brand new GSAR. That was a wonderful gesture and very generous. Three years later the tritium vials are once again falling off. This is annoying. So I sent the watch back two day’s ago. If the watch was abused and really worked hard than some type of failure would be expected but that is not the case in this situation

    Just some advice to anyone considering purchasing this watch. The 36mm is absolutely tiny, it has the smallest dial I have ever seen and there is a dome ring just above the dial which also gives the illusion the face of the watch is very small. I am a guy who goes for small watches, between 34mm to 38mm and 100% I would go with the 41mm. The 36mm to me felt so feminine. The second thing I want to say is how cheap and tacky the steel bracelet feels, honestly, I have felt better quality bracelets on Casio’s. It is not a bracelet of a $1300 watch, it’s an appalling quality bracelet which is cheap feeling and makes that cheap metal sound. Go with the black rubber strap, it’s very well made and just a good all round watch strap in general. Lastly, the watch isn’t as thick as others like to make out, it’s a good size thickness. The watch does have a beautifulness about it and I don’t regret purchasing it, but I must say, it’s not worth $1300. I would pick a 36mm Tudor Black Bay for a few hundred more any day of the week.

After only about 3 months of ownership it's disheartening to have to send it for service even though it was literally used as intended. I expected higher QC at this price point. The watch has the best tactile elements I've ever experienced but this setback dissapoints after a very good first impression. How often will the watch need servicing and how long is the warranty?

      Two year warranty. They recommend servicing after 5-7 Years

    Hey Teddy, thanks for the Marathon review and for all the great content. I know I'm a little late to the video but I have just recently started watching watch videos and really enjoy your channel. Ps. I just put in my order for this watch on your shop. I missed out on the free straps but looking forward to getting it soon. Thanks again!

    I had one but the ETA 2824 was stuck after 40 Hours on normal use (i send it back) . So i am little unsure to go on another one. But overall a good watch. Eventuely i go with a Tudor Belags LHD the dream Toolwatch.

    Hello Teddy, great watch I love it and am thinking of getting one very soon, one thing I’m a bit baffled about is 24hr markers, the hour hand covers the numbers so you can’t actually read them, surely that’s a design flaw, I wonder why Marathon or indeed the militaries haven’t picked up on this, bit of a head scratcher that one 🤔

    • @andysmith1996
      @andysmith1996 2 роки тому

      I think most people can work out what the obscured number is. Besides, where else would they put them? Making the hour hand short enough to clear them would look awful and just make it harder to read.

    Pretty good price for what you are getting.
    I have sinn 104, it's not as robust, doesn't have the tritium but is more legible and useable in a larger variety of situations.
    If I had the cash I might get one of these to add to the collection.

    How long did you wear it and what did you do with it? I have this a seiko tuna, and professional aquaracer. Only one of them hasn't had an issue, it was the aquaracer pro. Edit, i actually have the more expensive divers automatic gsar, silt destroyed the cliky bezel.... had to pay to get it fixed.... not that tough dude.

    The current versions feature tritium gas tubes instead of superluminova. Are these safe long term?

    Which do you prefer and why?
