I'm 59. I was in full menopause at the age of 44. I have consisered taking meds for anxiety and depresion, but I'm to scared of the side effects. I can't take estrogen, because it makes me sick. I could not take "the pill" in my fertile years, for this reason. My periods were so heavy and painful, it was debilitating. It has been a very difficult road. I wish there was a magical potion or pill. I have experienced most of the symptoms you speak about. Being a woman is like getting old, i'ts not for the weak. I wish all the women watching, much love and compassion. ❤❤❤

I'm so glad I came across this video. Even though I don't speak English (I understand it well), I would also like to lament my suffering; The sweats began occasionally at 49, and at the same time the periods became irregular until they stopped completely at 52. That's when the menopause hit. My doctor advised me against hormones because my mother had breast cancer. After a year, I couldn't take it anymore. Nothing seemed to help until I came across the evening primrose oil capsules. These helped enormously. I took them for 3 years, during this time the symptoms became bearable. And I thought I had everything under control or even survived. Far from it! When I was 60 I had suddenly brown spotting for a day. The doctor said it was hormone-related. Then the whole thing really started. The evening primrose was no longer of any use either.Right after a sulfur smell like from hell set in and made every deodorant fail. Now I'm 63 and have been struggling with sweating , breast tension , brain fog...again for 3 years. There are also new symptoms that I didn't have before: racing heart, fluctuations in blood pressure, dizziness, ...two thirds of my hair fell out due to Covid ... Unbearable itch that I have to scratch myself with shoe brushes during hours at night and constant headaches and severe circulatory problems . I've been in an emergency 7 times, wrongly diagnosed with a heart attack, I developed panic disorder and cardiac neurosis. My lifelong low blood pressure increases extremely, then drops again. I always think that my last hour has come. You can forget about driving a car.I always carry my blood pressure monitor in my pocket.I just spend most of my time at home . They say at 63 it couldn't all be due to hormones because I don't have any anymore. But they couldn't find anything else either. All in all: my last 11 years had a quality of life of 0, it seems to me as if I had one a cheerful mother of five became a 90-year-old, listless , depressed old woman. My marriage is also suffering a lot. Men can't really understand something like that. Not to mention all the symptoms mentioned below.I also have fibromyalgia since I was 40 and don't know life without pain anymore. Menopause has made everything worse. My doctor's consolation: "Don't worry, I have 80-year-old women with flushes" .
Now I've ended up at a psychiatrist and I'am addicted to Xanax. I'm currently going through a withdrawal for the fourth time, but I haven't given up hope for a little happiness yet and I can totally understand each and every one of you here.
    ❤From Switzerland

Start with transdermal patches and find somewhere to prescribe Testogel or similar. Goodness sake at your age quality of life is vital. Don’t be fobbed off!

Kari, I'm 57 yrs old and 5 yrs post-menopausal. My mother had a horrible transition from Peri to Post, she suffered greatly. It looks like I will be carrying that torch. I started losing my hair back when I was around 35, after a shower, it looked like a cat was at the bottom of my bathtub. As the years went by the thinning and hair loss became extremely noticeable, so instead of fighting a losing battle, I decided to shave my head 4 years ago. Instead of getting negative comments as I expected to receive, I got so much support and praise as well as many compliments. I have grown to love my shaved head, it's cute and it would appear nowadays to be very cool for a woman to sport a shaved head, it has become somewhat of my "thing". I also suffer greatly from mood swings, anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I had hot flashes and night sweats really bad when I was in peri-menopause, now I get them sporadically. My biggest thing at the moment is Insomnia! I'm lucky if I get 3 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. I feel haunted by insomnia, it's odd, I get these weird adrenaline surges and heart palps like I drank 10 coffees and I'm wide awake all night but become sleepy around 4 am, sleeping till around 7 am 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Also, my whole body hurts, cracking, grinding, popping, snapping! I've had an extreme case of Tennis Elbow and Tendonitis in both shoulders for 4 months now 😣 My body is literally falling apart before my very eyes! Yup, good times, good times 😒

I have horrible aches and pains. Started mid perimenopause and is ongoing. Perhaps I should have included pain but it seems to occur all the way through not just in post menopause. I also get the adrenaline surges and have sleep issues. I understand everything you are saying. I love the shaved head idea but I’m not brave enough to commit. Wishing you well.

      Sandra Miles-
Wait one minute. Is that my comment? Did you somehow witness my life since age 35? I am shocked by the exact detail. And I wish doctors could read our experience.
My experience is literally the same, word for word. And I am not exaggerating. Minus the 3 years age difference.
Insomnia is a form of menopause suffering with a particularly horrendous element. It’s aged me 20 years and took my ability to work (lost my job).
Although I know menopause is SURELY one of the greatest sufferings possible (and I do mean suffering of enormous caliber), it’s good to know people can share identical symptoms/timeline, including the hair loss and the shaved head. Fortunately we have a good head shape and carry it off…..Small consolation however.😭💦🙏🏼

You are definitely spot on. I am 55 and post menopause and I transitioned to post at 52. I have had hormonal ups and downs for 3 years and times where I have lost a lot of hair, I am experiencing that again right now. It doesn't seem to end. I am thinking I will be in my 70's and still suffering. A good diet, working out and so on does help although the imbalance of the hormones and how they rise and falls of the estrogen is just enough to make you bonkers.

But… most 55-75+ year old women don’t exercise like we did in our 20’s and 30’s. Not as active. No reason to have a body that’s so out of shape. I work at it daily and eat healthy. Steer clear of sugar and alcohol. I’m 57, still have all my hair. Very very few hot flashes like women my own age. My skin is a bit dryer and some wrinkles but again, we need to work harder at it than we used to. Exercise, eating healthy, keeping active, not smoking or drinking booze, and drinking more water will really help with staving off these symptoms. My blood levels are spot on. No diabetes, no high BP, etc. 👍🏻😁💪🏻

  • @gmm3080

I embrace all the changes of my body. There is no need for judgment. Be grateful for the wonderful bodies you all have, regardless of what the looks may be. It is all uniquely you. I am in my mid 50s, postmenopausal, and most certainly way different from even 10 years ago. Mentally, emotionally, physically, but I am still in great shape overall. Just different. As far as food goes: Ditch all the low fat crap, eat fresh and organic fruits and veggies, include healthy grass fed meats, wild meats, fish and seafood. Stop putting those awful chemicals in your awesome bodies. Support your liver (the single most rewarding thing you can do at any time in your life, but especially beyond 50!) with bitter foods and herbs (artichoke, lemon, lime, dandelion greens, dandelion root infusion, raw cacao, burdock root, etc.). Cholesterol is majorly important for a woman's health! Do NOT attempt to lower it, especially when drugs are recommended. Hell no! Your body is making hormones from cholesterol, very important hormones. So don't freak out when those numbers rise. We are NOT men for whom high cholesterol DOES pose risks! Watch your triglycerides, have your omega 3 levels tested, insulin, CRP levels. Those are more important to keep track of. Do some weight training, or other activities that work the muscles in a more natural way. There's no need to run to the gym and freak out about all that stuff. Move in a natural manner through life. Work with herbs. Find a great herbalist to support you. Most importantly, do your best not to stress about things, especially those over which you have no control anyway. Spend time with cats. They are the most amazing animal friends to be around. The cat lovers among us know all about it anyway, and everyone else try visiting animal shelters and spending (or volunteering) time with those beautiful felines. The peace and calm that comes from them is out of this world. So is the laughter that comes from watching them play and interact with each other (and humans). Women laugh way too little. Taking things too serious produces nothing but more stress, and accomplishes nothing. Remember: You are great and awesome just as you are. If you feel you want to improve yourself, go right ahead, as long as you do it lovingly, with common sense, truthful information, and joy. Celebrate the new you!

I totally hear you, and I understand the concern. But pretty much everybody can grow at least some food at home, even on balconies, etc. People have to band together to make good things happen. There really is a lot we all can do, money is not always the alpha and omega in life. Moving the body in natural ways is entirely free, for instance. Eating healthy and whole foods is just one pillar for good health. Many grocery stores let people pick up food they'd throw away at night. All one has to do is stop by and ask politely. I had to completely rebuild my life from scratch several times in my life. Never surrender, always live to win. No situation is hopeless. If one does their part there will always be compassionate people coming their way to gladly lend a helping hand if needed. And please remember, menopause is not a disease that needs treatment per se. It's not about being perfect. Life is often messy. We all do what we can, the rest is up to... whoever or whatever is considered divine.@@carolinevdvlies6969

I had my last period about 15 years ago, around 50, stayed away for a few years and then the floods came back in epic proportions for a year or so, than at 55-56 it stopped completely, I have many of the symptoms you described as peri-menopausal, among which the walking on rubble, the broken internal thermostat, the banging into walls and furniture, bedazzled where I am at times and why I am there anyway, the needing to have stricter routines so i wont forget stuff, but I also recognize almost all symptoms of post menopause, itchy skin, bruises, body fats, eye sight, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes. All these symptoms had me worried big time, but now it all makes sense, It's 'just' menopause. I mean this in a sort of reassuring manner, all these aches and ailments and problems finally can be explained and easier to accept

Menopause is life changing but not to dwell on it is vital to combatting the post menopausal symptoms or its easy to fall into becoming reclusive and non-sociable! Depressed and anxious.

I have found that when I get a hot flash I can shorten it by a breathing exercise. Breathe in for 4 seconds. Hold for 7 seconds and slowly release for 8 seconds. You can also feel your heart beat slow back to normal.

I had no idea that there was a connection to diabetes! I've been post menopausal for about 3 or 4 years & I was recently diagnosed with diabetes & high cholesterol. The cholesterol came from left field, that's always been good my entire life. I expected the diabetes at some point, because my maternal side has multiple members with it, plus I had gestational diabetes with my 10 year old. Thanks for these videos!

Yes you are right some symptoms do continue to be an issue. Living as healthy as possible and taking it day by day is all we can do short of hrt but even that is sometimes not helpful. Have you tried to include more phytoestrogens in your diet to see if you can reach better hormonal balance? Like flaxseed, berries, cruciferous veggies and oats to name a few. You can google a list. It may help you. I have berries and organic cold pressed flaxseed every day.

Yes, hormone therapy really improves quality of life for some women!
I hasten to add that I am on hormone replacement therapy (estradiol -progesterone-testosterone) for 5 years now, but it only reduces hot flashes ...unfortunately it does not help any other issue.
HOWEVER- that is just my individual hrt experience. Every one has her own unique physiology and I know some ladies get all their health back on hrt.
Hoping you find health and peace!😊

It shut down my over thinking brain for the night. I never thought about this before but I believe that is why I had an easier menopause. But hot flashes, those killed me. lol I wish all you ladies the easiest menopause possible.

Yams can help. I been eating yams up to 2 till 3 times a week anstood of potatoes. Its worth a try, and see if symptoms improve. Also using Amlactin lotion to improve the thickness of the skin. Its fragrance free and smells horrible so I only use it before bed time. It may sting a little on the beginning because it has 12 % Lactic Acid in it, but that feeling will dissapear. Cerave is another good cream for your body. Hope that helps for someone out there. Love to share more !

So glad I found your videos. I am 60 started going through menopause late 40's early 50's. I developed paroxysmal atrial fibrilation, saw an increase in the foods which triggered my IBS, developed diverticular disease and gall stones. Saw a worsening in my plantaar fasciaitis and arthritis, became less and less mobile and put on lots of weight (the gut problems meant having to give up my vegetarian healthy diet as fibre became a no-no and finding foods I can tolerate is very difficult). My hair didn't thin, it went into overdrive. The hair on my head is like a sheep's fleece and I now have to shave (my face) on a regular basis. I developed haemmoragic migraines (I thought I was having a stroke the first time it happened) and my mental health became a real problem. I have BPD which I have managed to control really quite well for the majority of my life but the depression is so bad now that I feel as if I am just waiting to die. I only leave the house to go food shopping once a month and have lost all motivation to do anything (I used to walk a lot, living in Scotland hiking was a daily event but since my dogs died 4 years ago I haven't been out in the hills). Oh yes I also developed psoriasis. Fun times. xxx

I am right there with you. Menopause cause by an ablation gone wrong to a hysterectomy with both ovaries removed also. I didn’t have hot flashes and all of the other symptoms that goes alongside menopause. I had very thick hair most of my life now I have half as much and I’m fine with that. I could barely walk after the hysterectomy. They must have dropped or twisted my body that cause severe pain in my back and shooting pain in my butt cheek running down to my toes that went numb when walking. When I was under anesthesia. Spondylolisthesis was the diagnosis in my spine that I never had before the hysterectomy. I worked my butt off to lose weight and got into a size 6 dress from a size 16 for our daughter’s wedding. I was miserable at the wedding I didn’t enjoy it like I was supposed to, we went home early. I didn’t want to have back surgery and I couldn’t stand the pain any longer. Walking any distance made me cry like a baby. Back Fusion L4-L5. Right after that recovery I’m still not back to myself after having Covid-19 twice. I cannot breathe without inhaling medication now. I have been trying to tell my Pulmonologist that I did not have COPD before the Corona virus, and here I am. Going to a study program for COPD this week to see what is really going on with my lungs. I had a PET SCAN to see if is was cancer, Thank God it is not. I get heartburn so bad that it makes me sick to my stomach and I end up with my head in the toilet. I had pains in my gut that felt like labor pains, it was diverticulitis that I never had before. I had an eye stoke that I have to get a shot in my left eye (EYELEA) every other month now, after menopause. I will be 59 on Wednesday and all I want for my birthday is me back to normal. I lost my dog also six months ago and I don’t plan on getting another one to take care of. I don’t leave the house unless it’s to go get groceries or doctor’s appointments. No family, no friends and no job. I pretty much do a whole lot of nothing. My husband works and fines lots of things to do on the weekends, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley. None of them I like to do.

I was told by a Respiratory Therapist that I have, you guess it. LONG COVID. I was told that it be should resolve with-in three years😳 from on-set, it’s been three years. So I am on BREO a once a day (Corticosteroid) for a symptom caused by Covid-19. Yep I’m pissed because nobody not even a Pulmonologist would say that. I was also told to take Vitamin D3 to keep my bones strong because I was taking Caltrate for calcium supplement, that was making to much calcium in my blood. Guess what to much Vitamin D3 causes, To Much Calcium in my blood. To much can be a sign of cancers in the body. Not one Doctor has look into the HIGH CALCIUM LEVELS👀.

Lately I have not been sweating a whole lot. I never wear deodorant unless I am going out. I will see when summer comes if I am able to sweat normally in the heat. It’s cold right now.

Thank you for saying this. Everywhere I would see sweating. sweating, sweating in post menopause. Last summer I sweat like no one's business. Now when I get hot I just get red. I can't believe I'm not sweating but it's only March 2023. I was afraid of Sjogrens and pray I don't have it.

The prickly skin is awful, I've tried all types of bedsheets, linen, cotton, cotton polyester and hemp in order to not feel like my skin is prickling all over.

Not post yet.. but symptoms are starting to slow. My current annoyance, body vibrations. I've had it since last Thursday. Is difficult to sit. Been dealing with it since my 30s and im 53 now. I just want it to go away. No pain just an annoyance.
