I was worried about making an elevator because I'm inexperienced with redstone but this video was really helpful and i was able to make it on the first try. Thank you so much for making this!
Wow thank you! I started posting everyday but this is a new channel so you're literally the channel's first comment. Maybe it will have thousands someday if you share it ;) I have an elevator playlist and I'm going to be adding rounded and other shaped elevators in the next few weeks.
this is very excellently made and well done. my only real critiques are that when initially placing the first observer, it would be very helpful to have drawn some sort of bounding box to indicate where the final elevator would be in relation to the observer like most minecraft tutorials do, since i needed to place this elevator very carefully (i had pre-dug a 150 block tall elevator shaft and i needed to make sure the elevator entered the shaft correctly.) aside from that though, great elevator and excellent work. it worked perfectly on a paper 1.21 server. i particularly enjoyed the explanation of an elevator at the start of a video as well.
Honestly great freakin tutorial just what I was looking for. Although the only problem I have is to make it so that there are two buttons. What I mean is let's say for example the elevator is at the top then you're at the bottom so like there's a recall button to call it down just like when you're at the top, And Vice versa. But honestly that's just a suggestion and maybe something I could adjust but other than that. Great job and Thank you very much for making this video.
So something that's nice is the redstone coming from a button into the machine can go as long as you want beforehand and have as many repeaters as you need. So I say go for it, make a recall button on each side to run up and down, it'd work any way people normally run redstone up and down. I can show doing that on the next one I do, the 8x8 which got delayed (for reasons the video in a few hours explains) Thanks for the suggestion, I'm brand new and hoping to help. (That video will be at this link in about 13 hours. ua-cam.com/video/XfCq0YUSEnU/v-deo.html )

I saw when you looked at the already made one at 1:39 there's a second layer of honey/slime blocks under the 5x5 of honey/slime but I couldn't get a good angle on what it looks like.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC yeah that was the issue I encountered, I tried repeaters (wrong block for that probably). Could a pulse extender using 2 comparators work?

Thank you! I did a rehash of this one in a more recent video that has a recall button if that helps. ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html I've tried to design every kind of elevator and they're all on a playlist.
Do you have a block requirements list somewhere so I can prepare it all before hand? if not I'll get counting, either way this was so helpful thank you so much for making it so easy to understand, I feel like I now somewhat understand how these sorta elevator's work .
Yes! I may not have said it out loud, but in each section I have your block requirement list in my hotbar. There should be 3 hotbars - the first one is the elevator, then the bottom, then the top. I also did another 5x5 video with a recall button if that helps: ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html Best of luck. Arguably the 5x5 is the hardest one, the slime pattern is more complex on say, the 7x7, but with the 5x5 you have to get a bunch of timings right on one of (left one iirc) the observers being used for multiple things.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC Oh I didn't even notice the hotbar thank you so much, I really appreciate you getting back to me so fast and sharing the other video because I was just going to fiddle with it for a while to get a recall working. once again thank you
Any way to fix mine randomly breaking on an smp i play? It works for a while, then it just breaks and one of the lines go up and stop it from moving and when i make it move down it leaves some of the floor
How would you make this elevator work on multiple floors? Like if there're three floors, so you could send the elevator both up and down on the middle dock. I tried my best with a redstone clock on the pistons stopping it from going up, and then activating the observers in the same way as on the bottom floor, but it didn't seem to work.
i might at some point, but maybe only on patreon, there are a lot of video thieves, same reason big redstoners usually don't. i try to do clear block by blocks so that it isn't needed.
I’ve been having a bit of trouble adding the recall button (in 8x8 video) to this elevator. It works perfectly fine with the buttons at both ends of the elevator, but when I click the recall button the pistons fire on the flying machine and push some of the slime blocks up which breaks it. Do you know what I’ve done from that terrible description?
If you post some pics somewhere I could look (like imgur, etc). Or if it's a server I can come glance at it. there are a few possibilities: 1) your recall redstone is too close to the elevator and interfering 2) the redstone from your recall button isn't connecting to the same place where your buttons are, maybe leading to: 3) you have too much redstone dust in a row so it comes into where the buttons are and runs down to zero before getting to the far end of the machine. this will cause only some to fire and that breaks it, but you won't be able to tell. On things like the recall button redstone, use a repeater right as it hits the existing stuff. On one of those button lines on the outside coming in or up/down, more repeaters won't hurt. I usually like to put a repeater at where the buttons would go on an example, and make both relevant buttons feed into it. My advice is to take the recall redstone off, fix it and make sure both regular buttons work, put a repeater where the line from those buttons hits the machine, test those buttons again, and if they still work, *THEN* re-add the recall redstone, and make those "share" what is working, point repeaters into the existing button lines.
