As someone that only really uses redstone like this as a nice touch to a build, this was really helpful! thanks!
glad it helped! It was my first video so I'm not always happy with it.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC I think for it being ur first video, u did amazing ngl
thank you!
Such a good tutorial!
Easy to follow, materials in the hotbar, not too fast, but not too slow.
Thank you!
The elevator is now in my survival world :)
💜🔺💜This was my first video ever! This is the newest version: ua-cam.com/users/shortslzjf2cLwPXk
I also revisited it afterward here: ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
A multi-floor version is coming VERY SOON!
i love how direct and easy to understand his videos are. keep up the great work dude!!!!
Nice tutorial, i really liked that you simply not build the thing but that you also explained what each component does and how it worked, makes it easier to adapt this technology :)
WHOA, this is AMAZING, I really needed this build for my main survival world. Thank you so much!!!
i love how well you explained this great job!
This is such a Great Tutorial since it helped my understand the build instead of just copying it so i can fix mistakes if something does‘nt work
Unreal how helpful this was, thank you!
thank you!
this was my first video ever, I started youtube because of it.
you should see some of the designs I have now on my elevator playlist lol
Bro not only made an elevator and a tutorial, bro simply explained how every single thing works. W
that's my gimmick, i do it with bigger redstoners who never gave a tutorial.
Great video explaining how they work as well! good job
Thanks! it was my first video, my later 3x3 and 5x5 video has a clearer design.

earned a sub, I've been looking for this video for literal months
im sorry it was my first video
check out the 3x3 in the "3 and 5" video, it's a better design
Awesome video, spared me a lot of testing and building on my creative world before survival
Dude that was awesome! Thank you so much for the tutorial, so complete and professional!
thank you! it was my first video and i am trying to improve but people liked this one
Thanks for the great tutorial!
I really wanted to learn a bit of redstone and how to make a elavator so this tutorial really help me as you explaned how it works and how to build it so well
you earned yourself a sub :)
I have made a lot of elevators, some better than this one, but welcome!
Someone unsubbed so it all evens out :)
just watched this video on stream with my viewers and followed along to make my first ever redstone elevator! so easy and simple to follow once you try a couple times. thanks so much. will be putting the link to this video in the description when i upload the vod to youtube later today.
I love you!
If this one worked for ya, be sure to checkout my elevator playlist, I've done up to 12x12 and different shapes.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC next thing I need is a multi-floor 3x3!! Found a video of yours that did that yesterday too but I'm a complete redstone noob and it was too much for me to understand 🤣🤣
yeah multi floors are tricky. I have a litematica schematic on discord.
Thank you so much! I was trying to make one work but I just couldn't and now I realised why I used normal pistons and not sticky🤣
glad you figured it out!
Good job explaining
top notch tutorial goodluck on your future projects

or maybe you need THIS in your base haha

Hey Doctor Plasma, out of the numerous other minecrafter youtubers yours especially informative and helpful, I very much appreciate how you get right into it and explain and things I thought were impossible (better sugar cane efficiency or an 8x8 elevator). I hope you continue to grow. One question though, could this work as a multifloor elevator? Like select a floor using buttons and a calculator determines the elevator? Could it work as a full enclosed elevator? (Ceiling, door, and walls included) Its a question bothering me for months. Thanks if you reply!
Yes! I'm actually working on some really big multifloor elevators with the help of a friend. It's just a bit more complicated to do, and it's taking time. He proved a round 7x7 elevator can be multifloor, and our experiments led to my 2x2 multifloor soon after, I'm going to work my way up and do a server collab when we get to his.
I've been sick for 3 weeks and it's limited my mental resources, but I'm hoping to have more in that category (i have an incomplete 3x3) soon.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC That elevator description sounds amazing, Im looking forward to seeing it soon! I have been building a really really large mansion that went down to bedrock and wanted a appropriate over the top way to traverse its 20+ floors. I also hope you get better man getting sick sucks.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC ua-cam.com/users/MrKorwaldski This guy was another person that inspired me and he sent me an interesting buttons to level water elevator. Maybe its something you already know about, or maybe it helps, Im not sure, but he told me it would be possible to rig it to a regular flying machine elevator.
I figured out the multi-floor elevator design, I'm working on the video right now!
@@DoctorPlasmaMC Have you dropped it perchance?
This was super helpful and i liked hoe you explained everything too! Thanks!
no problem! Not being able to find this is why I originally started UA-cam.

what an incredible tutorial
thank you, it was my first video.
thank you bro this will help me a lot
no prob! it's my first video however...
the 3x3 and 5x5 video has a better design
a brand new 3x3 design drops as a short in a few hours!
tysm it works pretty well but the running part is complex.
Great video. Just wanted to ask if there was a way to call the elevator up and down when the elevator isn't there?
I've made it on a server with friends and we are bound to use it at different times, so we will need to call it up and down when we need it.
I've tried for about an hour and couldn't think of a way to do it. I'm still fairly new to redstone btw.
The problem I'm having is trying to trigger the clasp to open so it can come down. I was able to activate it by using a redstone ladder up to the piston that hits the observer. However only half of it comes down and the platform doesn't move because i need to move the pistons that hold it tight.
Could you please help me? Thanks.
Yes! In fact I demo'd it at the end of a recent video. I'll post it below, and you can also look up "Vertical Transmission" on the minecraft wiki. There are many subtle ways to do it but this is an easy to remember one.

@@DoctorPlasmaMC Thank you so much! That video helped a lot and helped me make the changes that were needed.
Now we've got a cool multi level elevator. :D
@@guardianhoot No problem.

get this man more subs
thank you! this was my first vid lol, I should do a remake, I can do better. New vids every day!
Liked and Subbed! easy to understand
question tho
is terracotta necessary so it doesn't stick to the slimeblock and honeyblock?
short answer is yes.
long answer is you can also use obsidian or a tileentity (a block with an inventory) like furnaces.
but glazed terracotta is special too and gives us 16 more colors to pick from (and can be pushed! just not pulled)
3 observers
4 pistons sticky
11 slime blocks
5 honey blocks
Thanks man
thank you :)
how do i stop the slime and honey blocks from pulling the clasp mechanism
/
Pls make a 3x3 elevator tutorial going in depth with walls
why does not the blocks you stand on in the elevator follow it down? It goes up with no problem and when i press to go down it just leaves the platform you stand on
when i activate it (placing the obsidian on the observers) it doesn't work? I do the top observer and the piston activate, but then I do the bottom and nothing happens?
Thank you so much!! This video deserves more!! Do you have a discord server by any chance?
Not yet, I have plans once I hit 1000 subs. Catch me at plasmarob#7743 in the meantime, or find me on Twitter @plasma_doctor
Thx
i'm having trouble doing this in 1.20.2 is there anything different that must be done?
my problem is how to stop the elevator when going up cuz if I put obsidian on the top part the other blocks just go through how can I fix that @DoctorPlasma ?
I have a problem with mine, so whenever I have nothing around the honey and slime blocks it goe's all the way up, but whenever I place the block I need around it just goes up 1 block
really good tutorial, super useful explanation
thank you!
Hey Doctor Plasma, using your design I have an elevator working that has 3 floors, the top 2 of them using the clasp trigger with sticky pistons. I can get the elevator to go up perfectly fine, but if I send it down from the top floor i cannot find a way to get it to stop at the second floor. How is a way I could do that?
not easily. but i do have a video on a multi floor design, it's not out yet but coming soon! when I'm able to get more videos done it's coming very soon!
if you bug me in the livestream tomorrow maybe i can show it
i have one done!
ua-cam.com/video/aJR_zN3Dp8w/v-deo.html
do the walls of the final elevator have to be terracotta? I'm using deepslate for mine and the elevator seems to be stopping once the observers touch the deepslate as my walls are 5x5
yes, blocks that slime ignore are
1) obsidian
2) tileentitys like furnaces
3) any color glazed terracotta
Well I totally agree that elevators are like the best machine for Minecraft because say you have a tall mountain that generated and you wanted to climb up and down it for a house or something if you built an elevator it can get you up and down safely in survival instead of jumping off like a mad man and breaking every bone in your body
even in roblox I found it to be essential even if its just a simple platform lift because stairs even in games like Minecraft and Roblox suck for tall structures
Can someone help me? I built it, it goes up without a problem, but when it would come back, the block above the honey blocks and the honey block stay up there. What should I do?
Luckey a Legjobb!!
Can you switch the honey and slime blocks because I tried that and it didn't work
Great tutorial, but one issue. When I build the elevator and set up a bottom floor button for it, whenever I put the Redstone dust in front of the observer like you did here, the sticky pistons push up the honey and slime blocks. However, when I make a Redstone line, which fires are observer, the sticky pistons pull. However, unlike in your tutorial, the sticky pistons only pull the honey part, and leave the slime part floating.
UPDATE: Got it to work, simply had to remove the blocks surrounding the slime. I know you mentioned that in the video but it seems like I didn't understand. Thank you for the awesome tutorial though!
HELLO, with the part of the clasp trigger, why don't my pistons go back??
Im wondering why the some stone gets stuck at the top and it doesn't go down properly
Now a VERY important question I have. Is there a way to make a normal/piston door that will only be opened when the platform is on your floor? Cause I want it to be extra safe
you could detect when the elevator arrives and rig something I'm sure.
i will think about that.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC Ah thank you alot
i did it with observers
TYSMMMMMMM
you are very welcome
Not yet finished but...Does it work Up and Down? I've got like a 20x29 Square Base with a height of 8 Blocks Upward to the roof. Underground too. Been wanting to add multiple Floors Downward to expand the size. Already got a 3x3 hole in the middle of the floor ready for said elevator.
Instead, try this one for multiple floors: ua-cam.com/video/aJR_zN3Dp8w/v-deo.html
This 3x3 is my first video, but that link is my multifloor solution.
Thank you : )
you're welcome.
The elevator worked well but there is a problem for me, the problem is when I use it I was about to go up but I glitched out of the floor block for the elevator and fell how do I fix that idk 😅😅😅
This is nice but I have no access to honey, can I just replace them with slime?
great logic
thanks! it's my first video, I've done better now.
you can Upgrade it to go to different Levels too
Yes, and I did in other videos.
wow this elevator is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good for my way to my hugeeeee trees
just you wait, i made a multi level version haha, coming this week
hey, do you know if its possible to make a 3x3 elevator with only honey blocks and no slime?
i don't see how you'd move 9 honey blocks and 9 other blocks with one piston. with multiple pistons they can't touch.
it wouldn't be clean or flush but you could move 6 from below and the other three from the side i guess, but that's really a 3x4
For some reason, when i prime the elevator the top pistons fire but don’t stay up so that when i fire the bottom observer nothing happens
Sounds like you might be on bedrock. I get the most questions on this video, even having done updated versions.
If you are on PC, come over to my Discord and I can help!
Hey I’m stuck on the fact that my pistons to make the elevator don’t work the ones on the right side only one moves and then when it retracts the other that didn’t move does the motion really fast and nothing moves and I can’t seem to fix it
this was my very first video, my 3x3/5x5 review video and my latest elevator short might be more helpful.
join my Discord and I can help you there!
I BUILD IT 6 TIMES AND IT KEEPS BREAKING
Me too
Skill issue
😂 not at you but the skill issue comment
Try to make it step by stop while building and don't miss a single thing unless you aren't afraid of it breaking your whole thing. That happened to me.😂
built it again
I’m having some trouble getting it to work. I’m not sure what I did wrong.
Would these mechanics work on Bedrock or is the redstone circuitry different?
it's different. try my honey block 2x2 short tho, I hear that design works.
Big question, how can you make that the elevator doesn't stick with the walls, crashing the elevator. It happened to me many times now. I am in Java 1.19.2.
the slimes are sticking to the sides just playce blocks that cant stick to the walls like obsidian blazed terracotta or furnaces
yeah, glazed terra doesn't stick. or obsidian if you prefer
@@DoctorPlasmaMC ok I tried. I used furnaces as the wall now.
that should work.
hey quick tip: dont use the observers as buidling blocks because i didnt know if i had to keep it there or not
otherwise good tutorial
sounds like you figured it out!
I'm still working on my tutorial skills, like replacing a single midair block with a dual click. This was my very first video lol
@@DoctorPlasmaMC oh lmao didnt realize it was your first. But the elevator is perfect!!
Honestly? I'm accelerating so many projects at once I'm no longer happy with it, this just gets a lot of views.
For one thing, I like this one better: ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
And for another, I am working on a multi-floor 3x3 that's almost done, video coming in the next few weeks.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC nice
@@transbianyan I'll try to find and tag you when I have it ready.
excuse me i am a bit late but on a server i am playing there is no way to obtain honey blocks so can u tell or make a video on how to make one with just slime blocks please? and thank you
Check out my elevator playlist - without honey you'll need it to be smaller like the 2x2. honey is needed to beat the 12 block cap.
Would it be possible to have a 3x3 piston elevator with a moving ceiling as well?
i can imagine so, you'd just need another upside down elevator connected somehow.
it'd just be a lot of effort.
Does it not work on bedrock or did i just build it wrong?
does it have to be glazes terrocota, or just any color terrocotta? im making an underground base in survival, and getting that much obsidian is just too much work, but i dont want to use glazed.
has to be something slime doesn't grab.
your other options are blockdata blocks like furnaces or dispensers.
regular terracotta isn't gonna work.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC got it. thanks for the quick response tho, keep it up!
If the elevator was up is there a way to send it back down from down below?
you're asking for a recall button! you can connect it vertically a lot of ways yes. i did one way here: ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
Would the walls around the elevator being Iron Bars work, or would it break the redstone? I can use terracotta as the walls but it wouldnt look as nice
iron bars wouldn't
you have to use obsidian, glazed terra, or a tile block...
you could use blast furnaces instead. play around with dispensers/droppers and furnace types, see which looks closest
@@DoctorPlasmaMC K, thank you for responding so quickly lol
thanks for NOT doing it in a shaft. I've been having to redo this five times and still keep missing lol. I suck at building simple shit. I can't even get it proportionate with the shaft without the build being 1 block to the right, left or whatever.
Good news is practice does indeed make perfect.
Attention to detail is a skill one can develop in about a year, I learned as a teen by missing semicolons in code.
It's... painful but ya get there.
I may be doing a bunch of litematica schematics soon which should help on these.
also btw this was my first YT video ever.
I've made newer video versions.
Here's one.
ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
i may make an updated 2023 vid because I'm getting better at making them more interesting and helpful.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC sorry man I made that comment whilst in the moment of struggling to make this. I got it figured out and it works great! you're good with making stuff like this. I only know how to use redstone to turn things on and off while keeping it flush with my builds. Making elevators is a learning curve for me lol
no worries.
redstone has it's own learning curve, and so does build replication attn to detail.
I'm having an issue where when I call the elevator from the bottom, it leaves the top platform behind at the top but everything from the top pistons down comes down the shaft // shaft is made from furnaces, I have the quick release at the top with stone // it goes up, it goes down, and you can call it up from the top, but calling it from the bottom breaks it // anyone help?
a bit sleepy rn but I'll tru to think of what it is. in the meantime,
this was my very first video, and the slime block setup isn't nearly as clean. the one in my later 3&5 video is a much simpler design to get working:
ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
@@DoctorPlasmaMC I've tried several different ways of sending the signal up and it sends the elevator back down but the top slime and honey is left behind
Ah!
If the top is being left behind, your repeater time is wrong on the top clasp - it's too slow.
Test with obsidian on top so it can't push the top any further up to be safe, and turn the piston(s) on the sides to be always retracted I bet it will pull it down when you try that. Add or remove repeaters/ticks and adjust the timing so it starts moving down slower, or it lets go sooner.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC But the elevator goes down normally from the top button, and the input from the bottom call button goes into the same line as the button for the top going down, is that still the issue?
My elevator is dragging the catching blocks up past the stopping point, rather than the blocks stopping it. Do you have any ideas on a fix?
that means your slime/honey underneath doesn't add up to 12 when you include the top layer.
honestly this was my first video ever and I've improved on the design, i have a few shorts, but this update is clearer to me:
ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
whenever I activate it by puttin g a block in front of the observer to go up, it goes up 1 block then stops /:
I'd have to know more.
you're not trying to do 1 tick redstone on bedrock are you? won't work there
the slime blocks stake the stone blacks down is there anywhere i can fix this?
If you can post pics on imgur or twitter i can help, it sounds like either something is touching that shouldn't be, or the timing/repeaters are off
When i build this, the 4 blocks with the honey on them go up by 1 more, any solution to this?
you might be missing a block, the blocks above and honey/slime connected should each add up to 12.
i have a little problem.... when i try to go from bottom and up my terracotta stops the elevator after only going one block up.. please help
i would need to know more than that.
i can help on our discord.
make sure you have glazed terra, regular terracotta won't be ignored by slime
@@DoctorPlasmaMC THAT MAKES SENSEEEEEEEE I was using normal terracotta
Doctor plasma gotta make one in bedrock because I am making a tower of terror in my Minecraft bedrock server
would this work in a 3x3 wide hole or does it need a block of space
it can work in a 3x3 hole but it needs to be a block slime doesn't stick to
youll not respond to this cuz this is 1 year ago but this is not working in the bottem trigger where i have to put the redstone in front of the observer if somehow u see this plz tell me how to do it
not true, im an attentive small YTer still ;)
assuming you're not trying to build redstone on bedrock, visit our discord and maybe we can help!
it dose not work in bedrock all the time. is there a way you can make one for bedrock please if possible or is the same way as bedrock/windows 10 please thank you.
Did you ever find a way
You can do it by replacing one of the sticky pistons for a normal one. But then it will only be able to go in one direction.
Worked for me you’re just lackin
is there anyway to make this expandable ?
You mean do a bigger elevator? I have videos on how to do that.
See my playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLMtPFF5GHvbS0TmFaw3-kpQbtJFpFJOZz.html
There's no silver bullet for making big elevators sadly, each size is a different challenge.
I'm solving what is needed for an elevator of any size, one elevator at a time.
I'm doing squares first and a 9x9 video is coming soon. I have plans for round ones and rectangles.
Why is it I always encounter a problem I don’t know how to fix when I follow your tutorials
when i do the 2x2 elevator mine just goes up and down a couple blocks times then returns to the bottom
i have an xbox
this redstone doesn't work on bedrock
Bruh i tried for 30 minutes to make it work but I realised it was 3 ticks not 2 but thank you for the tutorial.
is there an easy way to call the elevator from the top if it's at the bottom? other than that it works wonderful
yes! I did another video with a polished design and showed how to do exactly this
ua-cam.com/video/ziq5aclOuOQ/v-deo.html
Can I get a material list
check my hotbar.
i can put in the description later for future people.
how does the elevator stop on top without obsidian
glazed terracotta is like obsidian
I’m having a problem where when I try and prime it, it just goes up and immediately pulls itself back down
are you in bedrock? this is java, bedrock is broken, pistons and observers work different in it.
no bedrock players seem to know this.
@@DoctorPlasmaMC unfortunately I am
you can still make 2x2 work i think, if you do it right.
when i try and make it go down it leave half of the top there the slime and part of the floor
Timing and number of blocks matters. This was my first video, so see if this 3x3 is easier to copy.

@@DoctorPlasmaMC thanks also can you remember me when you get really popular? I feel like this channel is underrated and is just waiting to blow up.
@@nik460 You're too kind. Did you figure out what was wrong with it?
Yes I figured out that the clasp trigger was the problem so I moved a block that pushes into the slime or honey and that fixed the problem.
anybody else get that?
maybe im juss stupid
but honestly, he did a really good job explaining the mechanics of this.
im just too tired to bother understanding it, so my lazy butt went and copied the tutorial part.
Fair enough. And it was my first video. I made a bit better one in a later video.
