Mojang just released a surprise 1.21 Minecraft snapshot, 24w14a! And although it doesn't add much, Mojang just made their own 3x3 piston door! The thing is 1 wide and works in both Java and Bedrock edition which is crazy!!! But is their redstone actually any good?

Mojang would never actually do this because they would no longer be able to break redstone with every update
They would still be completely capable of breaking Redstone every update, they'd just have to put more effort into it.

Kinda sad about the date this is posted on. I mean, Mojang has previously done in game tutorials for redstone and other mechanics by putting them into structures, like the traps in jungle temples, the zombie villager curing station in igloo basements, and the redstone tutorial section in the ancient cities. It wouldn't even be that ludicrous for them to actually add it.

Trial Chambers should be loaded with piston doors, both within the chamber and with multiple entrances and exits. It suits the chamber so well and shows off what the piston can do to players who aren't going to interact much with redstone.

Everyone this isnt an April fool joke, there is the potato update AND the new snapshot, I tried and there was the 3x3 redstone door, i guess they just got unlucky with the date or maybe it was posted yesterday but the video today..

Mojang can be good at Redstone whenever they want, in the handbook they just made it be dumb so that people don't know everything about Redstone and have to dive deeper into the world on Minecraft electronics!

I watched this the day it came out, I just forgot to leave a comment originally. Tree trimmers accidentally cut my internet cable between when you clicked the button and when it started opening, and I didn't have internet for 3 hours. I didn't get to watch it until the next morning, I was just left in suspense the whole time. In the back of my mind the entire time I was waiting lol.
I also didn't realize it was an april fools joke until I was writing that comment :(

in the old Minecraft Redstone book they showed off a 3x3 piston door, so I don't think this is their first, but it would be their first in-game generated one

The trial chambers looks like something out of minecraft story mode i just noticed that
there is also redstone behind the copper lamps now - calibrated skulk sensor reacts on a player and turns all lights off, so it is more challenging now.

I was really excited when I saw this but then when I saw how well it opened I decided to check the date and I only needed to see “two weeks ago” to confirm my worries. This was really well made though. Fair play

The wall itself may also act as spam protection, by being longer than a piston's push limit, preventing undesired pushes anyway.

It might be worth making it a tripwire on the inside so that the player triggers the closing automatically.
bro the screenshot of the door in the image in the 'article' and the door in the 2nd trial chamber you found are the exact same and even the redstone ore too
i found something that MIGHT change the red stone community, i found out that the new vault block plus a observer and the copper bulb can make a player detector (as far as i know it works on bedrock). also good to know there might be a few problems but as far as i know nothing has come up in my test world other than active trial spawners. Any ways I just wanted to let people know about this and who knows this comment could be revolutionary.

In my opinion would be interesting to see a 4x4 piston door made by mojang, the only problem is the structure that would contain it (i don't know if the english is correct)
I testing the door on bedrock. it is not spam proof, but it is incredibly spam resistant, I had to try really hard to break it. usually if there is a failure, just turn it off and back on again and it will fix itself, but it is possible for it to break. there is one modification that I made, which is just adding 2 blocks of obsidian, so that if it does break, it does not break very bad (although it already was pretty easy to repair, now its even easier).
Maybe an April fool, but thank you for the 3 x 3 that is just one thick. Don't need to search for it now if I would want one

The used design sadly results in it not working 100% in bedrock when I ran into it earlier.

What Mojang really should do is replace the inner stone button with copper pressure plates (an item/block that would only activate when a player steps on it). This way, it'd really feel like a trap (bar the fact that you can literally tear through walls).

tho, mojang already did a 3x3 door some time ago, just not for a structure, theres a tutorial on how to build one in the redstone book that mojang released
